《Bounty Cats》Book Two: Chapter 24

Rei jumped toward a garbage pile, hiding behind it. With her back on the trash, she held her gun close to her chest, shaking with intensity.
After swallowing her bearings, she glanced at the pile and activated her x-ray vision. Through the pile, the blob rose from the water, flowing toward her.
But he circled around the pile and approached a wall above two oil mounts. He opened his mouth and vomited goo against the wall. Something flew from his mouth and slapped against the wall, getting glued on it.
It looked like a body. Did Muck eat someone and decide to save them for a later shack?
Rei zoomed in on the body and widened her eyes. Sesang-e! Luna!
Muck rubbed goo all over Luna’s body while her eyes were closed. Could she be dead?
Rei hoped not. But why would Muck bring Luna’s body into his lair? Did he also leave his victims' bodies beneath his black slime too?
O andwae! Rei remembered Muck mentioning he planned to impregnate Luna, too. Although she was a lesbian, Muck was a careless monster.
I gotta save her! Rei switched her ammo to ice and climbed to the top. She aimed her gun at the creature. "Leave my partner alone!"
When Muck faced her, Rei shot one blue energy projectile at him. The ice spread across his body, turning him into a blue icicle.
He roared and stretched his arms toward Rei. But he completely froze before his fingers reached her.
Rei sighed and jumped off the garbage pile. "Luna!"
She raced toward her friend and touched her neck. Sin-ege gamsahabnid. She's still breathing!
Rei pulled on the hardened oil. But it wouldn’t come off.
Jegil….. Rei remembered the drone and faced it.
In her vision, she aimed the drone's cannon at Luna and stepped aside.

The drone shot the red beam at Luna's left arm, right arm, and then her legs. The black oil shells melted off and allowed Luna’s unconscious body to fall into the sewer water.
Rei dropped and lifted Luna’s body up from the water. "Luna! Luna!"
The panther coughed and slowly opened her eyes. "Rei?"
Rei smiled and hugged her partner. "Thank haneunim! You are okay!"
Luna blushed until she hugged Rei back. "Jesus, I thought you were dead."
Rei giggled. "I'm not your average kitty."
The catgirls embraced before the ice cracked.
Muck’s icicle statue shattered and rained into the water. Then an enormous blob rose over the water like an expanded black balloon. Two arms grew out as Muck’s face appeared in his bubble form. "I hate getting ssshot!"
Luna jumped to her feet from Rei’s arms and aimed her gun. "Let’s kill this f**ker, once and for all!"
Rei rose next to her. "Freeze him! It will slow him down!"
Luna chuckled as she switched her ammo. "You freeze him. I got a better idea."
Muck charged like a tidal wave, screaming through the tunnel. His screaming terror could scare anyone, but the catgirls stood their ground.
Rei aimed and blasted multiple ice shots. She kept shooting and shooting until finally, the monster stopped. The ice froze him into a wall of frost, covering him in flakes.
Luna blasted one fireball shot, blowing the icy wall into pieces. Black and white ice shards into the water. Every single one sunk into the sewer abyss.
Luna glanced at the water. "Now is he dead?"

At The Lions Gate
In the 20th century America reinvented itself. Devastated by depression, scarred by war, rocked by a revolution, Americans banded together to preserve their country and their freedom. They had faith in themselves, faith in one another, and for those who believed…faith in God. This novel tells the story of one American who lived through those turbulent years….years that would test his character and the character of a nation. For Josh Sanders it begins in 1935. A star athlete in school, pro football is a ticket out of poverty during the Great Depression; but when his father, a WWI veteran, is killed during a robbery, Josh’s spirit is broken, and with it his boyhood dream. To honor his father Josh joins the war effort in 1942, distinguishing himself as a fighter pilot, until a fateful decision near the end of the war changes the course of his life once again. But many years later, after a stint as a boxer and a failed marriage, Josh finds his calling…at a time when the country is at war with itself. The year is 1968. King and Kennedy have been killed, race riots are breaking out, and Vietnam has become an albatross, causing massive protests across the country. In the streets of San Francisco Josh watches a crowd of students march for peace. As a veteran he’s conflicted, toward the war and those who oppose it. But when he encounters Rosy Goldin, a spirited young protester in need of help, a voice from the past calls him to action. His good intentions are soon tested when Rosy falls in love with the fugitive anti-war activist Erick White, a young man determined to oppose the war at all costs, against the wishes of his own father. Fearful of what happens to Rosy, Josh confronts Erick, unwilling to be part of his plan to escape…until he meets the boy’s father. A high-powered criminal attorney, Karl White is also a flag-waving patriot demanding that his son follow the law. But as White makes his case Josh is jolted by a painful war-time memory, a crisis of conscience that will soon determine the fate of Rosy Goldin and Erick White.
