Rei opened her eyes after her head cleared. The last thing she remembered was Muck leaving her in his nest. He planned to capture her partner so he will try to impregnate them both. With two females, he can produce more slime babies to form his army and capture more women from the city. He will keep breeding until his army grows large enough to conquer the entire island. And maybe he will spread to other cities to punish the world who rejected him.

That sicko! I gotta help Luna! Although Rei knew her partner could handle herself, Rei didn't want to remain as a damsel in distress.

All bounty hunters shouldn't rely on their partners to rescue them. It would only make them look bad for business.

Luna might get into too much trouble if Rei stayed put. This time, she won't be the damsel in distress.

Rei shook her arms and legs, but the dried old much wouldn't break loose. It was like gallons of superglue spilled all over her.

Jenjang! Is there no hope for me to escape? Rei sighed in distress until she spotted a drone on a goo pile in front of it.

The gizmo has four hover thrusters around its flat disc body. A small laser cannon was mounted on top of it, too.

Rei had never seen those types of flying robots in public places before. Maybe the sewer company used them to keep the rodents from reaching the surface instead of hiring exterminators.

It is still operational, which means….. If Rei could hack the machine, she could use it to free herself.

Geuleom dang-yeonhaji! Rei glared at the drone, focusing her cyberized vision on it. She hacked a few electronics before after Luna executed Baby Shark. With all the useful cybernetic skills the mole-rat gave her, mastering them will help her survive. Only for bounty hunting purposes though. If Rei tried to hack vending machines or bank accounts, the police will definitely place a bounty on her head, and Luna would kick her ass.

Rei’s back shivered at that thought.

A loading bar appeared, filling up quickly until the sequence stopped with a beeping notification.

Ye ye! Rei kept her eyes focused as the drone buzzed to life.

It hovered up off the black goo and levitated toward her. In her vision, a small screen appeared, viewing what the drone was seeing, herself. Without the screen, aiming the laser at herself would be too risky. Although shooting at herself was still risky, it was better than firing blindly.

Here goes nothing! Rei winked her left eye, and then the laser cannon blasted.

The red beam hit the oil on her left arm, melting it. It felt warm, but not too hot.

After it dripped off her arm, Rei shot her other arm and broke free. Last, the drone melted the rest off her lower body until she fell into the water.

Splash!

Rei rose to her feet and shook the sewer water off her clothes. "Yuck!"

She checked her pants and felt her E-gun in her holster.

Good. Now she could leave the nest and help her partner.

After Rei pulled out her E-gun and switched the ammunition to fire, she heard a wave of water flowing toward her.

Muck was returning!
