《Bounty Cats》Book Two: Chapter 10

Rei and Luna stood in the middle of the crowd inside the subway train, zooming through the dark subterranean tunnel. Taking the subway was the only option since Luna's hover car was still being repaired at Tony's Fix-it Shop.

While the girls stalked their target at the nightclub, someone hacked Luna's security system and stole her thruster engine. Without it, she couldn't get her vehicle flying into the air, giving her no choice to call a tow truck to bring it to a mechanic she trusted. Another reason she lost her temper.

With a new bounty on their list, Rei was sure Luna wouldn't give up if she wanted her beautiful car back. For now, taking public transportation was their only choice to reach the sewer company's headquarters in the industrial district.

Pigs, dogs, and a bull surrounded Rei in trench coats and hats. Mostly business people on their way to work or returning home. A deer lady sat between a bulldog and a duck on a bench, holding her infant close to her chest. A mixture of cologne and must flow through the air around the cluster. And soft electronic music played from the speakers on the white ceiling.

Rei never appreciated taking public transportations since she became a k-pop singer. Whenever a fan noticed her, they would attack her like zombies. To avoid the mob, Rei and her friends rented private limos to avoid taking buses and trains. But they drove their own cars whenever they felt like driving alone.

On the subway, Rei felt relief that no mob of fans charged toward her or cared to ask her for autographs. But how could they know her? Except for Rally, nobody else recognized her identity because of her feline appearance. Sometimes it hurt her, and sometimes it kept her safe. The animal people in Moreau City could do worse things to her.

"So why did you go out with Rally?" Luna asked with a brief grin. "Are you crushing on him?"

Rei glared at Luna. "I told you I wasn't dating him!"

"Then why did you? That dog wanted more than just your mouth."

Luna was still creeping up on Rei's nerves. If she wanted her partner to forget about her drink with Rally, then she has to change the subject. "What about your date? That girl you met at the club?"

"Sally?" Luna blew through her pursed lips. "Nah! I think she bailed out on me. I tried giving her a ring, but she never answered back. Obviously, she wasn't interested in dating."

Rei lowered her jaw a bit. "O ileon….. Sorry about that."

Luna leaned her back against the pole, crossing her arms. "Don't sweat it. I have been through many dates before, and most of them turned out the same. They probably thought I am a lesbian player."

"Did you try dating men?"

Luna grimaced. "Hell no! You think I'm straight?"

Rei shook her head. "No….."

Luna giggled. "I was born attractive to girls, Rei. It's just my thing."

"Who was your first girl?"

Luna blushed. “Nevermind….. Who was your date? Hmmmmmm?”

Before Rei opened her mouth, the train screeched to a stop, pushing almost everyone to the floor. The lights flashed off, leaving only the cellphones gleaming in the dark.

Rei caught the pole. “What happened?”

Luna growled and got to her feet, drawing out her new gun. “I got a bad feeling about this.”
