《Bunnymancer》Chapter Fourteen

Not knowing how to proceed from there Dan decided it would be best to look at what he's getting into it. Upon pulling up the profession he was greeted with a new notification as he stood outside the shop.
You may choose one profession at the fifth level, and another at level ten. It is recommended that you choose a gathering profession first to gain the materials needed for the next profession you choose. Not all possible professions are shown here, only those you currently qualify for. Seek out a teacher or meet the requirements in order to unlock more options!
Tamer: The animals and beasts of the wild are yours to take and control. Use them as pets or tame up mighty beasts of war! Your spirit and training can make even the largest dragon into a simple pet or the smallest insect into a warrior.
Profession benefits at first level: Access to taming interface which will allow for further advanced training of tamed creatures. Increased information on tamed creatures. Unlike most professions you may level up this profession through hard work and training rather than seeking out a teacher.
Interesting, apparently most people need a teacher for their professions. Lucky for him he didn't seem to need any of that since he really didn't want to interact with a bunch of random NPCs. Interrupting his thoughts another prompt appeared in his vision.
Congratulations! You are the first player to have access to only a single profession when first opening the profession menu! If you decide to take a profession before earning another choice of profession then you will gain the title 'Dedication to the Extreme I'.
Dedication to the Extreme I: Increases speed of learning new skills, profession levels, and stats by 2x when dedicating yourself to a task for at least one hour. This title has multiple levels and will level up as you dedicate yourself to this title.
Well shoot, that's too good a title to pass up. It could take a bit to actually start the title up while training, but there was no way Dan was going to pass up freebies like this. Selecting the Tamer profession he quickly agrees to the follow up prompt asking if he was sure before something else happened to cause him to lose this prime opportunity.
Congratulations Tamer! Go out into the world and show people who can catch them all!
You have earned the title 'Dedication to the Extreme'!

Thinking of nothing else he needed in town, Dan began down the road leading to the gate as he opened the new taming interface. Floating in his vision was a series of tabs leading to other various other parts of the interface. Many were grayed out but available to him were the tabs for Domestication and Training. Well he was going to try to house train a bunch of rabid animals for this shop owner so it was an easy decision to check that first.
Domestication is the art of taming creatures down to the point where they lose the basic instincts to fight or gather their own food and instead rely on others for safety and basic comforts. As you increase your profession level it will become easier and take a shorter amount of time to domesticate creatures. If the tamed creature begins fighting it will cause the domestication of animals to be halted and even sometimes lose its tamed status. Once fully domesticated a creature will become considered a non-combatant and lose the ability to fight. You may start the process by taming an animal.
Well that's a whole lot of info for just the basics. While he didn't know exactly how the domestication process happened at least he knew now that he wouldn't be bringing rabbits into the city that were hopping mad and trying to smack everyone.
Sooner than he could have realized he was walking out of the city and only looked up when he tripped face first over a bunny. Luckily his title prevented him from being attacked from the animal who continued to graze in the grass. Figuring this would be easier to tame then the Raile he used his taming skill and initiated the Battle of Wills.
Battle of Wills initiated
With such ease that he nearly fell over the floating orb zoomed towards the rabbit with even a small amount of resistance. The fight with the Raille hadn't been easy and even though this was a much less powerful Rabbit he expected some token bit of resistance. It must be some part of my title, Dan thought to himself. It makes the rabbit docile to the point where they don't care if he tames them or not, they only care about him hurting them.
You have tamed: Level 1 Common Male Basher!
Bashers are the most common form of rabbits on Eternium. While they're at the lowest levels they may change and evolve into more powerful versions at higher levels depending on their environment and personality.

Domestication viability: Very high
Current abilities: Bash - Leap forward and hit an opponent with your horn. Cool down: 5 seconds
That was far more info than he had gotten on his first tamed animal! And it even told him how likely it was to domesticate an animal. In retrospect it made sense that it would be easier to domesticate a rabbit than something like a bear, apparently it was quantifiable here though as well. Pulling back up the Domestication tab Dan saw that there was new information available for perusal.
Would you like to begin domestication of: Common Basher?*
Dan clicked the asterisk at the end of the question.
In order to domesticate a creature properly you must first provide an adequate amount of food in order to fill its satiation bar. While this is ongoing you may complete a variety of tasks to care for it in order to increase its domestication meter faster. Creatures with higher domestication viability will need less work in order to successfully domesticate them. Conversely creatures with lower domestication viability will require much more work to successfully domesticate.
Simple enough explanation. Though the food thing seemed a bit odd, why would he need to constantly feed the animal in order to domesticate it? Perhaps it's to prevent some kind of exploits or something? Oh well, one way or another he's never going to figure it out just standing there. Only one way forward. With another press of a button Dan started the Domestication process.
You have begun domesticating a common ranked animal (base time to domesticate common ranked animal is one hour) it has a very high domestication viability reducing time to domesticate by 75%. This is further reduced by your class working very close with Rabbits further reducing time to domesticate by a further 20%. Total time until domestication: 3 minutes. Starting in 3...2...1…
Dan looked around but nothing had really changed. The rabbit started munching on grass but no flashing lights or colors or anything crazy happening. Dan supposed this must be fairly standard stuff for a tamer and maybe it would be more interesting with… well anything but a rabbit. He still had no clue what kinds of tasks he was supposed to do but there was a new flashing pair of bars on his screen.
Satiation: 100% (Creature has no issues finding food, keep this bar high for potential bonuses!)
Domestication Progress: 33% (Creature will be domesticated once this bar reaches 100%.)
With nothing else to do Dan watched the two bars in the domestication tab as he sat on the ground next to the rabbit. The Satiation bar dropped to 99% for a moment as the rabbit hopped to a new spot to crouch down and eat grass, but besides that nothing interesting happened for the remaining two minutes left for the domestication.
Congratulations, you are the first traveler to domesticate a creature! As such you have earned 5,000 class xp and a new summonable creature: Impaler.
Impalers are an evolution of Bashers that grow a long and deadly horn in order to impale their enemies.
New helpers were always welcome in his conquest of the game! Every hopping helper increased the strength of his arsenal. This one also increased the offensive power of his kit, which was something he had been sorely lacking in since he started going down this route of class. He supposed he could also tame some other animals and try to train them to fight for him, but that was something to decide at a later time. For now he needed to domesticate some rabbits and a fox then get back to the pet shop and check out the flashing notification in the corner of his screen.
As the Satiation and Domestic levels of your Basher were maxed throughout the whole domestication process it has increased an uncommon rank domesticated animal.
Uncommon Domesticated Male Basher: This rabbit has become a non-combat pet through domestication. Any attempts to provoke this creature into a fight will end in failure, as such its level has been lowered to 0. Unlike the common ranked Basher, this Rabbit is generally more 'fluffy' and willing to show affection than the common counterpart and it has lost its horn nub.
Looking over sure Dan could see the transformation in progress, the small white horn fell off it's head with skin and new fur quickly covering the spot. Meanwhile the rest of its brown fur grew longer and curlier with a hint of a glossiness to it. Apparently the transformation wasn't in text only. It looked far more cuddly than when he first tamed it, far more of a household pet then a rabid beast. With a satisfied nod at his work Dan went to go find more rabbits to tame.
