《Chocolate Obsessed Genius Mage》Chapter 12. Red.

Alexander Thorn'rose's POV:
One minute we were calmly talking and the next this little crazy redhead stood up, run up to her protector and started crying. Not my fault that she threw herself on my highly charged with mana barrier without a similarly full of magic sword. I mean running straight at a super-charged magic spell without a prepared countermeasure is simply insane. The collision of 'a mountain and a hill' - weaker and stronger spells -is still a collision and the force it creates has to go somewhere. Unfortunately for this woman, she was in the wrong place when the mana was released after the blow so it hit her head-on and threw her at the wall. She would fly reeeal far if space here wasn't so limited. I doubt she survived hitting the wall like that. I guess it's a shame for the girl, huh? For her guard to commit suicide like that, though most likely unknowingly, is a sign of bad luck. She's still gonna be hunted by those assassins, right? If not, then this whole endeavor was for nothing.
I was startled when Q turned around with her normally deeply green eyes glowing eerily with bright red light.
...ok. Maybe not for nothing. This is... 'Devil's Rage', isn't it? Most commonly known as 'going berserk'. To think such a little girl would turn out to be a Berserker... Unexpected! This chill when I look at those eyes, the red glow and crazed, murderous aura she emit's now... Doesn't seem like she can control herself in this state and she'll attack me - or anyone else nearby - real soon. The thing is that this place is at most 5 m² and I'm the only target for her here.
That's so... EXCITING!
I never expected to see so many things that I couldn't easily predict before coming to this remote place! I'm actually starting to like this Blackhill kingdom! Let's stay here a bit longer!

Oops!
While thinking I almost forgot to dodge the young Berserker's long, red claws that her fingers turned into, coming in a wide arc towards my chest. Good that I work out, it could be dangerous if I didn't and she hit me without warning. Why didn't I use a barrier or stopped her movements? Well, first of all, that's boring. Another reason is that it could hurt her body while she's in this state. The first time someone awakens as a Berserker could make them into a crazed beast who never goes back to their former self. That's why they need to get tired and finally go to sleep in a natural way, knocking them unconscious or stopping their movement might be the worst thing you could do to them. And tiring someone in such a state takes at least an hour.
Well then, let's practice a little and play with Q till she's down. Oh, just in case I'll encase her protector's body in a barrier so the girl doesn't unconsciously destroy her body. When the midget wakes up she would really lose her mind if she awoke covered by blood or with this red liquid in her mouth. Devil's Rage is not called like that without a reason. I met some Demons before, so I know what I'm talking about.
Oh! Going for my legs now, are we? I'll step away for you, so go ahead.
Bam!
...sorry that I dodged but you could've stopped before running into that wall, you know? I'm aware that you can't think straight right now but at least notice that there isn't much room in this place for your large movements. I admit your strength, dexterity, stamina and recovery rate are much better in this state but it makes you too stupid to actually think. Just don't lose yourself, ok? That'd be a shame, knowing that you might be hiding even more secrets.

...secrets for me to uncover.
-I can't wait to learn more about you, shorty! So just hold on and wait till this state passes. I'll keep you company till that happens, so let's play! And don't let all this blood bother you - any wound you get now, as long as it's not lethal, will cure itself quickly! Nothing to worry about! You won't remember it anyways so it doesn't matter, right?
...
...
...
10 minutes later
-Aaaargh! Ok, I get back what I said! This is getting boring. - I said while I moved away from the eerily red claws swung at my head for the n-th time. A swing here, an attempt to bite my arm off there... That's actually tiring! Right! I'll just take a nap for a short time. She should be fine for now, I think. It's not like she could lose her mind in this state, at least not this early. And she can't possibly hurt anyone else while deep underground so... everything is alright like this.
-Hey there, Q's female bodyguard! Give me some space, would you?
I manipulated the barrier around the woman and made it much bigger, after which I passed through it and sat down next to her, back against the wall. The small Berserker growled angrily and Bam! - dove straight into the barrier, head first.
... ok, this one here is a complete idiot. She stood up again and once more hit the obstacle before her with her face. After which she started scratching it with the claws, producing a sound as if putting your nails on a blackboard. Ugh! Not so loud! This isn't interesting anymore, it's just annoying!
'Sound Curtain'!
...
Yeah, much better. I can still see the redhead but now I won't hear her. Good. Hmmm. Since I have a moment might as well...
'Dimensional pocket'. I reached inside the black, naturally uncomfortable tear in space and pulled out a fresh, big strawberry out of it. But not just a typical strawberry! It was prepared earlier and frozen in time in another dimension and most importantly... there was a still hot, liquid chocolate on it.
What? I can't fall asleep without saying 'Goodbye' to my best friend. He understands me well and knows that people have needs. And he has many bodies in this world, you can find Chocolate everywhere in the world, in any country and definitely every confectionery or sweet-shop. He finds pleasure in letting others know his taste and I certainly like it when he feels good because of it. Since it's the best for me too. I can feel closer to him when I let us combine into one by consuming a small part of him. He doesn't mind, so it's fine.
Mmmmmmmmmmm... Soooooo good. It can't be better.
A sleepy, deep female voice in my head said:
~~Sure it can, silly. Add some whipped cream. ~~
Oh! A good idea. Thanks, voice in my head.
~~You're welcome, sir Mage.~~
An instant dimensional magic spell later there was a happy man eating his fruity meal. Soon, he nudged the person lying next to him with his foot, content after finishing a whole bowl of sweets.
-Sorry, girl's protector. I'll just nap here for a moment, don't mind me. Let's talk later, when you're more alive, ok? - I waited for a moment but there was no reply. -Well? I don't hear opposition, so all's good. Good night then.

Ars Magica
Our vision comes back into focus. Our eyes, while being able to perceive the immediate surroundings, still leave us with our minds uncomprehending towards what is actually occurring. Sure, there are definitive things that we can focus on, like the fact that we're either out upon the open sea or the open ocean, there not being much of a difference with no land in sight, as well as the fact that we appear to be upon a haphazardly constructed metal boat, whose seams are barely able to keep a hold of themselves in the crashing waves. However, that does not let us understand what exactly is causing the waves in the first place. If we were to rewind time, we'd find ourselves upon a calm sea under a peaceful sky with the only difference, being a small whirlpool that would be the precursor towards this uproar around the boat. Lightning flashes in the sky, with no clouds being near, and anyone actually manning the boat has either died towards the cause of the smashing tides in the first place, or are fighting amongst the flashes of lightning, all while trying not to become devoured, demolished, and utterly decimated by the beast roiling in the whirling waves. To better understand exactly what is happening here, there is one singular event that needs to be understood, that needs to be explained, and that is the arrival of a creature named Dave. Stepping back from current events and going towards this creature's first appearance in the world, we begin to hear the sound of water slowly dripping across rocky ground. The cavern is utterly silent except for this one constant, its cause feeding channels downwards, sloping towards cracks in the rubble along the floor from broken stalagmites and stalactites. And there, lying on top of something which had fallen over recently, judging from its cracks, is a person, the creature named Dave. His form is fast asleep, either from the impact or from an intoxication, judging from the smell upon its breath. A bright light suffuses into it for a second, giving life towards the pale skin, before it slowly dies down back to the comfortable black of the cave that it's within. Before this moment in time, Dave did not exist in the physical world. At least, not in the reality that he finds himself born into. We do not know whether or not his existence is simply a cosmic joke, or something that is being played out on purpose. All that we do know, is that one moment, the body was not in the cave, and simply formed in the next. The actual earliest time that we know Dave exists, is the interpolation of the memories of J-209, which we'll begin looking into shortly to gain context towards the coming narrative that is being written and hastily trying to keep itself written. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Warning: This story has several things which might turn its readers away. The first is that this story has shifting points of perspective. Don't worry about that previous sentence too much though, as the main character will always have a first person perspective associated with them. However, any other character from which we're viewing the story from will either be in third-person, as we are not necessarily in their shoes at the moment, or in first person, given that the narrator is an actual physical presence within the story. For the most part, chapters will be self-contained with their perspectives, so there will not be an abundance of switching perspectives within the same chapter. The most that an average reader would have to worry about is the fact that perspectives can switch between chapters. The second thing is that the main character is a bit on the 'special' side of things. He's not exactly mentally there most of the time, so there will be some times that his personality or his thoughts do not actively align with his actions. The third, and final thing of importance, is the fact that past the first couple of chapters, nothing has been planned in advance. There are arcs and plots that I want to do, want to implement, or have already been set into motion from our main character's introduction to the world, but the method that I use for my story writing and generating leads towards a bit more random chance being enabled. Basically...there's a lot of dice rolling behind the scenes. To not complicate the story further than its regular LitRPG elements, the rolls will not be publicly available. However, there will be knowledge within the author's notes on whether or not there were positive or negative critical rolls that had occurred within the chapter. You have been warned. Updates: Mondays & Fridays (Schedule permitting) Typical Chapter Length: (2,000-3,000)
