《One Eyed Wanderer》Chapter 11 - Kobold Farming

"Hi I would like to hire a carriage to Sickle valley canyon"
Saito had already gathered information about the Kobolds, it turned out they were located in a canyon near the sickle valley. This was an area under the control of the Sickle Valley Clan, although it is a small area to control land as a clan was considered to be out of the norm. The size of a clan is much smaller than a guild and usually, consist of 500-1000 members whilst a guild could have up to a million members depending on its size and structure.
"Sickle Valley must consist of elite members, to hold such a feat with at most 100 members I can't help but admire them"
Upon arriving at Sickle valley he made his way towards the town, the Sickle valley was protected by mountains from side to side only leaving one exit. the buildings resembled old Japanese structures whilst the surrounding was covered in greenery and lakes. it gave out a peaceful and calm aura representing the peaceful nature of the Sickle Valley Clan, the city Lord of Sickle valley happened to be the clan head.
The town consisted of many shops and stands to sell various equipment and items, Saito's who was slightly interested in the structure of the town decided to have a look around. The daggers which he had purchased from the previous town seemed to have low durability since they were completely destroyed by the goblin king, Saito decided to buy a dagger and a 10 poisoned knives which cost him 50 silver. since he had run out of silver he decided to use gold allowing him to get 50 silver as change.
He didn't waste too much time in the sickle valley, after buying the daggers and throwing poisoned knives he headed towards the Canyon which wasn't far from the sickle valley. his armor which had been slightly damaged wasn't replaced, he felt it would be a waste to buy a new set of armor so he decided to keep his current one.
"Ok, I'm all set, since I have poisoned knives I can keep my distance whilst farming"
Around 30 minutes passed before Saito arrived at the Canyon, he took out a few throwing knives before getting into position. He currently had two daggers a normal steel dagger and a special dagger which he received from Lucifers dungeon, all his items were in check. Saito made his way down to the canyon whilst keeping his guard up, although his stats where insanely high he did not dare to underestimate his enemies.
"There are various other creature within the canyon, ill have to be careful when moving around I should avoid catching any attention from the stronger monsters"
After a few minutes of slows moving around whilst paying attention to any movements in the surrounding ended up with nothing but the sound of air blowing into the canyon and the sight of dust riding the waves of wind going deeper into the canyon.
"That's strange, continuously farming a species of monsters can gradually decrease their population outside of a dungeon. However, I'm pretty sure at this stage of the game even the elites shouldn't be able to pull off such a feat."

Saito continued to sneak around in the canyon trying to look for any trace's left behind by the kobolds, they were draconic like creatures so hiding their footprints would be a challenge. using this Saito was able to finally spot a trail of footprints leading deeper into the canyon. and judging by the size of the footprints they seemed to meet the description of a kobold.
SWOOSH!
an arrow pierced through the silent air making its way towards Saito's head.
"Slow"
Due to Saito's reflexes boosted by his agility, he was able to easily evade the arrow, with 30 agility even avoiding bullets would be considered as normal.
"CHARGE!!!"
The silence was broken yet again with a draconic cry emitted by a kobold located right behind Saito with a spear piercing towards Saito.
"Not good"
Saito equipped one of his daggers and a throwing knife whilst lowering his head to avoid contact with the spear, the kobold archer who was positioned in the distance took his stance as he readied another round of fire aiming for Saito without any hesitation. As soon as the kobold managed to aim for its target Saito threw the knife launching it towards the Kobolds hand, whilst positioning his dagger and piercing towards the kobold warrior.
"KUHAA!"
With the amount of strength placed onto the dagger, the kobold warrior's skin had been cut through like butter spurting a pool of blood as it cried out in pain. on the other hand, the knife which had been launched towards the archer had caused it to lose its composure firing off the arrow into the air. Saito hadn't let his guard down yet, he quickly equipped another throwing knife throwing it towards the archer aiming straight for his head this time.
"That was easier than expected..."
The archer had dropped dead instantly as soon as it came into contact with the knife.
"Now it's your turn"
Saito retracted his dagger and swung towards the Kobold warriors neck before the kobold could react it had already lost its life. with Saito's tremendous dexterity there was no way a Kobold could keep up, and his.

"Huh, suddenly its become much harder to level, at this rate I'm going to have to kill 13 more to reach level 7"
Saito continued to track the kobolds and finally managed to find a group of them gathered at one spot. Since Saito had the ability to take them out one by one with his throwing knives he didn't hesitate to do so. although it was a cowardly move, to Saito it was the most effective way to raise his level. Right now he didn't need battle experience, what he needs the most are levels in order to catch up to the elites.
After only 10 minutes the horde had been completely cleared, without being able to track Saito the kobolds had entered a state of panic not knowing what to do. one by one their comrades had been taken out with knives, and every now and then a shadow would fly past them collecting the knives before instantly disappearing.
Saito collected the materials from the horde he had successfully finished out. he felt slightly relieved, at first he thought it wouldn't be possible to catch up with the rest of the players however at this pace it wouldn't be a problem.

[Level Up!]
[2400 Exp Accumulated Lvl 7 1460/2,200]
"That was far quicker than I expected since Kobolds haven't been farmed there should be a lot more of them left. ill continue with this method until I hit a wall"
Saito collected all of his throwing knives and dashed out of the scene with a grin on his face, staying any longer could attract unwanted attention.
"HOLD!"
A boy around the same age as Saito spoke up, he wore a purple heavy fitted armor which covered most of his body. although the armor seemed rather unusual what attracted the eye was the metal badge located at the center of the armor. it resembled a sword with a small purple gem located in the middle of the blade, this badge was in fact well known in the continent.
"What business do you have with the Twilight Order!"
Upon hearing the boys words Arata frowned, he had been invited by Kyoko's older brother Kiyoshi Sasaki for a guild meeting. Although he didn't know the details he did not dare to decline, such an opportunity could allow him to strengthen his guild relationships.
"I am here to meet Twilight Sword"
"The leader? for what reason?"
"I was invited"
The guard placed his hand on his chin as he began to analyze Arata.
"Blade? so you're the guild leader of Syndicate?"
The guard opened the door before Arata could respond to his question.
"Well go on ahead the boss is waiting for you. Oh and good luck in there."
"Good luck?"
The guard completely ignored Arata's comment closing the doors. Arata who had arrived at the main hall was slightly nervous. After a few minutes, a voice from the other side of the hall called out signaling him to head to the room located in front of him.
"Come in"
Before Arata could knock, the voice of a young man called out from the other side. Arata slowly opened the doors making his way into the room.
"Welcome Blade, I hope the guards didn't give you any sort of trouble."
Arata seated himself in front of Twilight Sword trying to fight off the pressure. Twilight Order was an influential guild within the game, although they weren't at the top they still had large companies as their backing. a small guild such as Arata's could not afford to offend them in any way.
"Thank you for inviting me, however, may I ask what the reason behind your invitation is?"
Twilight Sword adjusted himself to face Arata, his golden eyes stared into Arata causing him to shiver ever so slightly.
"Well of course. You see recently I sent out one of my talented commanders to conquer a certain dungeon, now this dungeon means a lot to my commander as he requires some of the materials that the boss drops. Not only that the first clear is also something that Twilight Order have been setting their eyes on for this specific dungeon."
Although a month had gone by since the release of the game, only 6 dungeons had been conquered. Conquering a dungeon was quite simple, all it required was the first clear for a dungeon. Upon conquering a dungeon the guild would receive various benefits such as a rise in their reputation and as well as territory, once the dungeon is conquered guilds have the right to take control of that dungeon and monopolize it. there are many people who would enter a dungeon either for loot or exp, before a dungeon is conquered they can do so without any trouble however after a dungeon has been conquered the owner is able to set an entrance price allowing them to make a huge sum of money.
"Now I am sure that you understand the benefits of conquering a dungeon for a guild. Twilight Order has not been successful in conquering a dungeon yet, and there are six guilds who have already achieved this. So to sum it up we are falling behind, and this dungeon is ours no matter who comes in our path we will not stand down."
Arata who had been seated opposite of Twilight Sword had begun to lose his composure, he now understood why Twilight Sword invited him into his territory.
"I assume you are talking about Zanos?"
He tried his best to regain his composure.
"Blade, your guild has just started to surface and the need for a dungeon is not of importance to the Syndicate at this stage. So I ask you to step back and leave this to the Twilight Order"
Arata had expected this, upon hearing Twilight Sword he began to fume in anger.
"Twilight, we may be a new guild but I still desire to conquer this dungeon and right now is our best opportunity so unless you can offer us a partnership I will not stand down easily. Even if we do fight it out I am sure you will weaken your fighting power in the processes, wouldn't that give the other guilds a chance to strike at Twilight Order?"
Twilight began to laugh, after a few seconds of his mockery, he began to calm down.
"Partnership? you have got this all wrong. I didn't invite you here for a partnership, you are here so that I am able to witness your reaction"
"My reaction?"
Twilight Sword pulled out his message screen ignoring Arata's existence.
"And there we go, well let's have a look at your reaction"
Arata was confused for a moment, however as soon as Twilight finished his sentence messages began to appear in Arata view causing him to stare in shock.
[Guild Member Striking Flame Has Left]
[Guild Member....Has Left]
[Guild Member....Has Left]
[Guild Member....Has Left]

..............................
After a few minutes, the messages began to calm down clearing Arata's view, on the other side sat Twilight with a grin on his face as he stared down at Arata.
"You see Blade, in this world power is everything. With a simple promise, I was able to influence your guild members and convince them to join my guild, as I have already mentioned Zanos will be mine and no one will stand in my way. You may leave now."

To Blunt The Sharpest Claw
The Velvet Paw of Asquith Novels are a series of New Fable genre novels that involve cats and dogs and high adventure and romance and espionage and food-fights and hotels and explosions and car chases. With large casts, exotic locations and an absurdity only possible in the absence of human characters, the Velvet Paw of Asquith Novels blend Wind in the Willows with James Bond, though with more cafes and fewer badgers. This submission is the third title in its Morigan Trilogy, beginning two-thirds of the way through the series' longest adventure yet. Here's a quick recount of what's happened so far: When Oscar Teabag-Dooven, a Velvet Paw of Asquith, is ordered to investigate how a mysterious poet, the Ar'dath-Irr, is able to travel instantaneously around the world, two very bad things happen. Firstly, he meets Lydia, an insane librarian who punches everyone in the face, and secondly, the Ar'dath-Irr reveals he is intent on taking over the world. Although this second thing might be considered worse than the first, Oscar feels differently following Lydia’s destruction of a cafe, a library and his face in one afternoon. In comparison, thwarting world domination just seems easier. Along with Binklemitre, a fellow Velvet Paw of Asquith, and Lydia, Oscar infiltrates the Ar’dath-Irr’s realm of dark poetry to discover the dog not only intends wrenching the world apart but has no intention of cleaning up afterwards. As a result, Oscar decides it’s all too hard and goes home to have a bath. After lots of arguing and the sort of food fight that posh restaurants were invented for, Lydia and Binklemitre convince him that they must stop the Ar’dath-Irr for several reasons, one of them quite serious. A vibrant cast of characters collide as Oscar, Lydia and Binklemitre battle the Ar’dath-Irr and his disciples in an adventure involving exploding cafés and appalling hotels, car chases and inadvertent surgery, dreadful poetry, lots of arguments and at least one temper-tantrum, all of which draw the three into dark and convoluted corners of a world they weren’t aware existed. Moreover, any chance of sitting down and discussing things over some buns disappears when Lydia punches the Ar’dath-Irr in the face. This results in her having a psychotic episode and Oscar getting run over by an ambulance. Although Binklemitre suffers neither, he witnesses both, which is almost as dreadful, though not nearly so messy. An enormous battle ensues, followed by a dinner party and then everything explodes.
