《Transmigrated Into A Game》3: Toto

Once again, Rose was in total darkness and silence. Moments later, she could vaguely feel someone's arms wrapped around her neck and waist, gripping so hard and desperately. Even though Rose was still slowly regaining her consciousness, she felt her heart twinged at the gesture.

She tried hard to lift her eyelids, and when she was successful, she met with a very beautiful face of a woman whose eyes were glowing with tears. Drop after drop, they fell on the white blanket.

Rose tried to escape from the woman's tight grasp, but to no avail. So she let the woman cry for a while as she lifted her hand to rub her back, alternating from rubbing to patting. "..There... there... I'm fine.." Rose whispered gently, as if calming a child's heart. After all, she's only ever had a daughter to take care of. So whatever care she knew, it was for a younger person.

The shaking woman finally recovered some sense, upon which, she looked up with anxious eyes and quivering lips. If Rose did not know better, she would have assumed someone had died...

Rose offered the white blanket for the woman to wipe her tears with, and the latter immediately accepted it, wiping the tears and sneezing out the snot. Rose gulped down the little disgust she felt, feeling slightly guilty for even thinking as such after being showered with genuine care.

She then stroked the woman's soft short hair. "Are you okay now?" Rose carefully asked.

But contrary to Rose's expectation, the woman cried harder. It was as if Rose asked something very painful. This made her speechless and she no longer opened her mouth to speak, simply watching the woman dry up her tear glands from crying.

Could this be her mother? Although she never had a mother before, she'd seen many others treat their children just as much anxiousness and worry when something happens, no matter how little.

Such as when she was participating in her first few concerts, she would notice children her age act spoiled to catch their parents' attention. In return, their parents would generously oblige with a tender look on their face. And when their child merely received a scratch, they would fuss over it as if their child was stabbed in the gut. There probably would have been no difference for them.

Faced in front of her was a woman such as what she had imagined. For a moment, Rose felt bewildered over this new sensation that felt quite different from what she had felt with her daughter. She carefully examined the beautiful woman before her and caught some resemblance to certain parts of her foreign memories.

But before she could add everything up, the woman begun to say, "I already told you! You shouldn't have come to this school at all— See what happened to you now! You almost crushed your head onto the floor... Wuu..."

And she cried once again, snot dripping out of her nose. Rose offered the nearby soft tissues and gently asked, "Mother... I was careless, but I'm also very sorry to you. I apologize for making you worry... Please stop crying, okay?"

"M-m-mother?!"

Due to her surprise, she had momentarily forgotten to cry.

Rose found herself feeling silly, only confirming with, "You are not my mother..? I'm sorry for the mis--"

The woman's grip tightened around Rose's wrist, her voice that was in tenor range solemnly said, "I...I'm your father... Love, do you not remember me at all??"

When s-he was about to cry once again, Rose stopped him by wiping his falling tears with her thump, softly hushing him to calm down.

"I sincerely apologies for causing you to feel upset, Fath--"

"It's Toto! Toto, love... Call me Toto!"

Three times to remember important facts, and so that's exactly what he did.

Rose complied like a good daughter she was. "Toto, I'm very sorry... Could you be a dear and stop crying now? I don't like seeing you sad." Rose coaxed, rather skillfully.

In a minute, Toto had dried his tears and was gazing at Rose full of love. While Rose herself was taking everything in calmly as she would when receiving a new difficult musical piece composed by someone else.

"Can we go home for today, Toto?" Rose quietly asked, hoping to finally find time to make some sense out of this new 21st century that she had only read in the archives. All materials from a millennium ago from her time period were rare, and some that were saved had to be kept in a special room with no oxygen to preserve the papers.

This room was called the archives, and only prominent individuals were given permission to briefly examine the books. Rose was given the chance when her nation's Prime Minister requested her to perform a particular piece dated from a very long time ago.

Upon Rose's request, Toto did not have to think twice and immediately carried her in a princess carry. His slender legs sprang and stepped onto the floor as if he was walking on air.

"Excuse us Nurse! I have to bring my princess in our safe haven!"

Although embarrassed at being carried in such a way, Rose did not truly mind. Toto was gentle despite his walking speed.

Students who had their class ended came out to spectate on Rose's escape. Several new rumours appeared, and it can be clearly seen that nobody was really on Rose's side.

Fortunately, she was leaving for home.

The first thing Rose though once her eyes laid upon her new home was 'Family'. The house was merely 2-storey tall with green vines of purple flowers crawling on the surface of the red bricks wall.

The windows and the main door were sophisticated painted in white, while a veranda in the second floor added some shielding by the entrance.

At the sides of the house, fruit trees spread like a forest and along the stretch of greens were irises in bloom.

It was a lovely home, and too feminine for a man like Toto. Although, after some thinking, it was not a strange preference at all. He can like whatever it was he likes and prefer whatever he prefers.

Thus far, Rose was happy with what she had seen.

She was gently ushered into her bedroom, having been promised by Toto that her meal will be brought to her later.

Finally, she had some time alone for herself. She hovered around the bedroom in search of anything familiar or something that can trigger some memory link.

Exploring all over her bedroom, there was no trigger until her eyes landed on a picture frame. There were no moments of the woman in the picture, but Rose felt the loneliness of growing up without a mother.

Despite having an amazing father like Toto, the previous owner of the body still felt envious of others, and even jealousy at times. After all, she was but just a child.

Rose eventually laid on the soft bed deemed for cute girls due to the frills and girly bed covering.

She closed her eyes only to open them widely once again.

"The Internet!" She inhaled and jumped out of the bed full of energy, running to the laptop laid upon the white desk and turned it on.

While waiting for the laptop to finish booting up, Rose thought of all the questions she needed to know answers of, listing them all in her head. She was taking full advantage of her youthful vigorous and brain power, a big difference to her retired body.

A while later, Rose was still staring on the laptop screen, unable to believe the things she'd gathered and of the things she knew before she died which was closely tied to her current situation...

It seems, she had indeed transmigrated.
