Chapter 0032

Rayael liked to think everyone had experience the soul crushing disappointment she felt.

If anyone didn’t, just shut up and nod your head or else the little Perrian Let will find a way out of the virtual world and Sadoko you. Sadoko who? Look up the movie The Ring. Enough said.

The event that sent Rayael into a screaming fit is a quest. Other gamers who receives quest would eagerly head over to complete the quest and start the chain. Rayael… well Rayael is like a five year old child the night before the much anticipated overnight camping trip, all eager beaver hopped up on sugar, red eyes and raring to go in the morning only to be told she got the day wrong. They head out on Saturday, not Friday.

Cue the temper tantrum the five year old will throw.

That is Rayael right now.

Erica look towards Sylphie for an explanation. Rayael’s sudden fit of rage surprise the Ruse Marren. The beautiful butterfly never heard Rayael suffer from uncontrollable rage back on Earth. For that matter, Erica never heard of Rayael losing her temper. Most of their extended family compare their children to ‘Saint Laurie.’ “Why can’t you be more like Laurie?” is a favorite saying among the older generation of the family.

Sylphie thought for a moment then said, “It the same frustration you get when you to Fashion Week on time only to be told the pushed it back a day for stupid reasons.”

“Son of bitch, I worked hard to get those damn invites to Fashion Week and planned my holiday accordingly. Do you know how much tickets cost, not to mention airfare and hotels rooms cost during Fashion Week? An arm and and leg, that’s what. Even then, it rooms are booked months in advances. Months. Do you know how much over time I clocked in just to afford the trip. 263 hours of over times, that’s what. 263 hours! It was well worth though. Then there is the itinerary itself. There are soooooo many events to see, it is hard to choose. Soooo many events! Thank god the main highlights are not held at the same time. I would have killed me if I missed one of them. It was heartbreaking enough to miss some of the smaller runways shows from the up and coming artist. Watching it as a video doesn’t have the same vibe as watching it live so I meticulously schedule my time as to not waste a single minute. Then event coordinator came up with a bull shit reason and pushed the Fashion Week a day later. How the hell are they going to compensate me for my wasted time? That not even the worse part! I have to reschedule everything and I might miss some of my favorite designers runway. God damn bastard. Us middle class Americans… what?”

“I was never middle class nor was I an American,” the Tajin Nost replied her most condescending manner. It is not that she looks down on Erica. She never has. It is because Syphie knew she had to stop Erica’s tirade or else who knew how long they were going to spend cussing out the System for their timely interruption. Erica can be worse than the battery bunny when she is interest in a topic.

Erica is easy to rile, easy to forget. There are too many things that catches her fancy for her keep a grudge. As for Rayael, it is hard to rile the little Perrian Let up, but when she does it is hard for anyone to stop her.

“I forgot you were a rich bitch.” Erica’s scorn was heard in the tone of her voice. Jealousy and envy is present as well, though hidden unless one knew Erica well enough to discern it. Ofcourse Erica won’t be Erica if she didn’t put emphasis on the were part.

Sylphie is one of the people who knew the Ruse Marren well enough to know her feelings as well as her train of thought. Because she understood Erica better than anyone else, she allowed Erica more leeway.

“The proper term is rich heiress. You’d be the first to know if I was a bitch.” Being lentient doesn’t mean Sylphie is a total push over. She subtly remind Erica of her previous punishment.

The interaction between her two relatives goes over Rayael’s head. She doesn’t see them together often enough to understand the little nuances between them nor does she understand the business dealing they have between them.

Erica envy Rayael’s amazing list of rich relatives. She could never understand why the little Perrian Let didn’t take advantage of her resources. The Calbots could live the American dream if they wanted to. They don’t.

This puzzle Erica.

Relatives were relatives to Rayael, despite their wealth. Also, when she was younger she suffered the consequences of trying to leech of her rich relatives. Granted, she was only seven at the time, but damn did she learn her lesson.

Ask Sylphie for money? Gotta pay the price. Price, does what Sylphie say for a day or so. Not bad considering she could have requested for a million euros. One thing will lead to another and they will call her Rapunzel and that is the best case scenario. Her other rich relatives… well, let just say she’s lucky there were too many interested party for anyone of them to overwhelm the other or else she’d be baby at the mercy of an HIV infected man in the South Africa.

“Did anyone else get a quest?” Rayael asked. Quest can be designed for a specific class or race. The short Perrian Let was sure if they all got the quest.

“I see you calmed yourself down enough to worry about us plebeian Saint Laurie.” If she can’t outwit Sylphie then Erica will do the next best thing, pick on Rayael.

Sarcasm is Erica’s best weapon.

Unfortunately, Rayael’s nickname is Captain Obvious.

“I’m not really a saint. The title of saint can only be conferred by the church to dead people. Beside, Sylphie is a heiress. So... only you are the plebeian here Erica.”

“Who are you calling poor! Your the poor beggar! After you graduate, you have to pay back your student loan!”

For a money grubber, mentioning debt is a big no no.

“You’re the one who called yourself a plebeian. I just clarified the fact. In fact, I should clarify the fact further. Calling you plebeian is an insult to plebeian all around the world. You are worst than a plebeian. You are white gutter trash looking out of an easy con. Your mother and father are thieving white gutter trash too!”

Rayael wanted to say your whole family are white trash, but sadly, with great, great, great reluctance, she had to admit the Burkett are related to the Calbots.

“At least I am making a six figure income. What do you have when you graduate?”

“Enough.” Soft spoken Sylphie stopped the argument from degenerating further. Amusing as might be for the Tajin Nost to watch a scene similar to two bikini clad women wrestling in the mud, they do have a task to accomplish.

Rayael and Erica shut their mouths immediately. Jessica was raised to be a leader. Ever since she was young, she had an aura that commanded respect as well as a calm, clear headed temperament suited to leading. It might not be noticeable since Jessica is laid back most of the time and Jessica might not notice it herself but those around her does. When she gives a command, there is a compulsion in her voices, forcing the people around her to follow her orders or else. Rayael doesn’t know what or else means but she’d rather not test the water. Erica can extrapolate Jessica’s punishment based on previous experience.

After looking over her quest, the Tajin Nost announced, “I got one that sends me to the Scheming Palace of the Damn.”

“That place suits you to a T Sylphie. Not only are a lying scheming heiress concern with only your self interest, you are also conniving CEO trying to push all your mistakes to your subordinates. When that don’t work, you toss them into your dungeon of hell. I also heard you drop your enemies in the middle of Sahara Desert and record their death for your amusement later.”

Rayael already hid behind a pillar when Erica started talking. Really, the suicidal tendencies of that woman. Best to run away as far as you can.

Boom!

100% life to 1% life with one hit.

Ouch 1% HP. Reminds Rayael of a certain bipolar psycho she met yesterday.

Erica laid on the floor glaring at Sylphie in defiance despite her misshapen jaw and twisted arm.

“There are some things that should not be said.” A simple warning for Erica to keep pertinent information to herself.

From Rayael’s point of view, she was unable to see the cruel gleam in Sylphie’s blood colored eyes or the gentle smile scarier than the scariest ghost Hollywood ever created. The contrast cowed Erica into immediate submission.

Once the coast is clear, Rayael changed into Leviene and healed Erica. The perturb Perrian Let was amazed at the instant change in graphic. Once Erica was healed, her face and arm went back to normal. Amazing.

Leviene’s heart hurt. If only the amazing healing abilities they gain in the game can be applied to real life. How much heartache and suffering they could prevent with a chant.

What kind of world Earth will be if they can duplicate the powers of the healers in the game? Cancer can be eradicated within moments. AIDS will be a thing of the past. The disabled can live life like a normal human being.

The moment of longing passed like the movement of the wind, silent and fleeting.

Leviene knew the ability to heal will be used for torture and hatred, for war and power, for the powerful to oppress the weak. It is sad reality humans have created out of this beautiful world they have been given.

“So what do we do now? Go our separate way for the quest? Cause I have to go to the Eternal Palace and consult Honored Lady Valdis of Tainsoar.” Leviene asked to break the ice between the two.

“Can you find the way?” Sylphie asked, all businesslike, as if her previous vicious attack against Erica was an everyday occurance.

“It’s marked on the map.”

“Can you find the way?”

Did Sylphie have to repeat her question? What kind of cousin is she? “Are you questioning my map reading skills?”

“New York New York Hotel is Las Vegas.”

“Oh… umm.. Yeah I can find the way. And if I can’t you guys can come and find me, afterall, we are still in a group. I’m pretty much on gps.” Leviene didn’t want to be reminded of that incident again. She really doesn’t. As the commercial said, “What happen in Vegas stays in Vegas.”

With a thoughtful look, Sylphie agreed to separated and headed out to towards her quest giver while Erica stood in a corner reading through her quest.

After Sylphie was out of sight, Leviene headed towards Lady Valdis of Tainsoar.

Leviene’s speed was slow at first, then she sped up, running as fast as her two legs can carry her with the extra weight of wings and tail.

She knew Sylphie was going cowed Erica in submission because she is the leader and her leadership style require obedience from her subordinates.

But what happened back there?

Seriously, what happened back there?

Can anyone tell her what happened back there?
