Chapter 0005
Sylphie ignored Leviene’s childish temper tantrum and Erica’s snide remarks in favor of searching for her other relatives or people she had been gaming with in the real world. Although it’s been awhile since Sylphie seen any true emotions in her beloved cousin’s sad eyes, and she would like to continue drowning in their lovin tender care, she could not allow them to remain as they are.
There were too many unknown variables in their convergence. Sylphie felt the need to protect the family with her now warred with the need to go out and search for information. She settled her emotions by watching over the comedians while mentally searching for the others.
Suddenly she received a private message.
[Kaleseze whispered to Sylphie]: Diabolical Jessica?
Sylphie smiled. In a virtual world, the person she desired to be transported with her most is this person, John Deveraux.
[Sylphie whispered to Kaleseze]: O hail Raid Leader of Slaughter.
[Kaleseze whispered to Sylphie]: Yeah, that’s you.
[Kaleseze whispered to Sylphie]: How are things on your end?
[Sylphie whispered to Kaleseze]: Found your sister and Erica
[Kaleseze whispered to Sylphie]: lol. Good luck with that combination. Laurie never forget nor did she ever forgive Erica for the dress incident.
[Sylphie whispered to Kaleseze]: Yes, she does hold a grudge.
[Kaleseze whispered to Sylphie]: Laurie was a miser even then. After the incident, I swear I hear her yelling in her sleep, “Hell no to four years of allowance. Evil relatives should all die.”
[Sylphie whispered to Kaleseze]: lol
[Kaleseze whispered to Sylphie]: lol
[Kaleseze whispered to Sylphie]: Drop group and accept the party invite.
Sylphie accepted the party invite when it popped up on her screen.
[Party - Wraith]: The zombie awakens, the end of the world is nigh.
Wraith’s name in real life in Matthew Calbot, the eldest brother of John and Laurie Deveraux. Matthew is the oldest at 26, then Laurie at 22 with John the youngest at 21. Many people assume Matthew is the step brother of John and Laurie. The siblings have the same mother and father. The surname change towards the younger children is hilarious when told, but quite frustrating for the Calbot couple.
Slightly after Matthew was born, Eric Deveraux had leukemia and needed a bone marrow transplant. All the members of the Deveraux family donated a sample of their bone marrow for testing, but none was a match. The results sent the rich French aristocrat into depression.
The highest possible match for bone marrow comes from family. It is possible to find a match outside of family, but the odds are low. There are several factors limiting the match between leukemia patients and possible donors, but the main problem is lack of awareness. Not many people sign up to be bone marrow donors.
However, Eric Deveraux was in luck. The hospital found a matching donor in Jason Calbot. Doctors removed the bone marrow from Jason on Sunday. By Monday, the bone marrow was transplanted into Eric. Eric invited Jason to France for an all expense paid vacation trip as a reward for saving his life.

At first, Jason wanted to refuse, but in the end, his wife convinced him this was his reward for being a good samaritan. Jason brought his wife and son to France, and Eric was there to meet him at the airport. He wanted to personally thank his savior. Eric was rendered speechless when he met Jason.
They look alike.
They look so much alike they could have passed for twins.
The Deveraux connection, or as some would say, the Deveraux curse, slammed into Eric and Jason so hard they both fainted and was taken to the hospital for observation. While he was there, Eric demand a paternity test and Jason acquise.
Jason knew he was adopted. He knew he had family out there. However, Jason had no interest in finding them. If they didn’t want him, then he sure as hell didn’t want them, yet he still wanted answers to his abandonment.
It turns out, Eric’s father, Jean Louis Deveraux had an affair with Marie Denieve. Jean Louis promise to divorce his wife and marry Marie but never did. Marie, furious with Jean Louis, hid the news of her pregnancy, went to America to give birth and immediately put up the child for adoption. They never spoke to each other since.
Jean Louis never knew he had another child until the paternity test. Presented with the evidences of another grown up child in America, Jean Louis wanted to ship the ‘American bastard’ back to the United States and disavow all knowledge of his byblow.
The old man wanted to hide the product of infidelity from his wife, Marissa Lovere. Fortunately for Jason, Marissa knew of the situation from Eric before he confronted his father so she was able to guard against a more… permanent information blackout.
There was never a need for Jean Louis to take drastic action. Marissa never care about his infidelities. In the beginning, their marriage was a marriage based on mutual benefits, not love. As long as the benefits remain, Marissa had no intention of dissolving the union.
Jean Louis never understood the thinking of his wife. Despite his action in the past, he married for love. He loves her then, he loves her now. Marie was a ploy to arouse jealousy in his wife. With nothing to show for his effort, Jean Louis cut off all contact with Marie.
Over the years, Jean Louis and Marissa grew closer together. They were the lovey dovey couple still on their romantic honeymoon in their old age. Marissa had long since forgiven his stupidity in his younger days.
Marissa protected Jason because she owed him for saving Eric’s life and she didn’t want her husband to be charged with filicide.
After seeing the reaction of his father and step-mother, Jason Calbot wanted nothing to do with his biological family. He went back to America after two week.
On the other hand, Eric wanted to bring Jason back into the family fold, so to speak. He wanted Jason to take up the Deveraux name.
Jason refused.
Eric insisted.
Back and forth the two went.
Until Jason’s wife became pregnant with Laurie.

Eric figured if he couldn’t persuade Jason to take the Deveraux name, then his children will have to do it in their father’s stead. Sins of the father and all that. With a little lying and a bit of bribery here and there, Laurie Calbot became Laurie Deveraux. The same also happen to John.
[Party - Sylphie]: The prodigal son arrives. How many women have you impregnated?
[Party - Wraith]: lol. Gotta think of something new Sylphie. That jokes getting old.
[Party - Sylphie]: No it hasn’t.
[Party - Wraith]: Damn it woman, quit with the lame joke. I am neither a prodigal son nor a player. I haven’t even had a girlfriend yet.
[Party - Sylphie]: Who was it that said in a conversation a long time ago a 2D girlfriend counts?
[Party - Wraith]: ...
[Party - Sylphie]: Who was it who said accomplish in game applies to real life and by this extension, he is the great harem master?
[Party - Wraith]: A moment of insanity. Think nothing of it. In fact, forget I ever said it.
[Party - Sylphie]: Do you think I’ll let you get away with it that easily? It’s screenshotted, uploaded onto three different websites and backup onto 10 different thumb drive.
Sylphie lied. She made a video, took screenshot from said video and posted it on seven different forums and back it up onto twenty different thumb drive. The cocky bastard was never going to live it down.
[Party - Wraith]: I’m never going to live it down am I?
[Party - Sylphie]: Exactly my thoughts.
[Party - Kaleseze]: You two done joking around?
[Party - Wraith]: I’m good.
[Party - Sylphie]: Good here.
Sylphie and Wraith cut their good natured bickering. With the dirt the two had on each other, they can go on for days. Kaleseze enjoy their trash talk usually. He plays game to relax after classes and school. It’s fun for him to read their squabbles without the need to respond. Now was not the time to relax. They had to figure out what is going on.
[Party - Kaleseze]: Got any information about our situation?
[Party - Sylphie]: Invite Leviene and TresBelleSoliel into the group. I don’t want to repeat everything again.
Leviene has join the group.
TresBelleSoliel has join the group.
[Party - Sylphie]: Good, everyone on my side is in group. How about you guys?
[Party - Leviene]: Hi all.
[Party - TresBelleSoliel]: Hello.
[Party - Kaleseze]: Haven’t found anyone yet. Will keep you informed.
[Party - Wraith]: I contacted you guys first to find out the situation and coordinate from there. Haven’t seen anyone we know yet.
[Party - TresBelleSoliel]: Wait. Who is who here?
[Party - Kaleseze]: John
[Party - Wraith]: Matthew
[Party - TresBelleSoliel]: Oh great, the freaking nerd brigade is all here. Of all the people in the world, I have to be stuck with the geeky Calbots, and not the rich geeks either. No, I have to be in a freaking strange world with the shut in computer nerds who jerks off to 2 dimensional porn. What did I ever do to deserve this. You Calbots are nothing but antisocial scums living off your parents because you guys are too lazy to find a job and support yourself.
[TresBelleSoliel has been kick out of the group].
[Party - Sylphie]: Wait a sec. I have to handle her over here.
Sylphie glared at Erica. Leviene moved out of range of fire while close enough not to miss the dress down coming from Erica.
God did Leviene want popcorn right now. This was something she wanted to see for a long time.
“Listen here you arrogant gnat. Before you open that big mouth of yours and spew nonsensical bull shit, you better assess your-”
“But Jessica, what I said was true,” Erica interjected. Leviene shook her head at Erica’s stupidity.
Leviene saw Sylphie like this two times. After each tongue-lashing, the opposing party is always reduce to tears, crying and begging for forgiveness, which Sylphie grants, like a queen pardoning her subject. If the opposite party does not change their offending behavior, then Sylphie destroys them. Sylphie may be young but she is smart. She was groom to run the Deveraux empire. When Sylphie destroy something, the annihilation was so complete, no one can find ashes of the offending party.
Did Leviene say she saw two arguments? Ah no. Leviene never saw Sylphie berate anyone at all. None whatsoever. Nada. Zip. Zilch. Zero.
Slap.
50% health. Ouch.
How much power did Sylphie put into that slap?
Awe sparkled in Leviene’s eyes. She wanted someone to slap Erica for a long time.
“Clean out your ears and listen well.” Sylphie grabbed Erica by the ugly starter gear everyone wear and hoist her against the wall. Leviene’s eyes sparkled. What aura, what power. This is Jessica Deveraux, heir to the Deveraux Empire. It’s been a long time since Leviene saw Jessica. In contrast, Sylphie is mere a facade Jessica wears to placate the people who cares about her.
Wait, no. Sylphie is a family member. Jessica is the CEO.
Anyways. Hello cousin. Long time no see. You were missed.
“We are in a place which follow gaming laws. The people who have the best chance to survive this weird world are the gamers you arrogantly insult. Unless you want to be scammed into whoring out your pussy for pennies on side of the road, then you better shut your sucking orifice and execute every fucking orders given to you. Understand?” Sylphie’s in your face chew out tirade scared Erica.
“Yes.” Erica’s meek reply was a balm to Leviene’s tender heart.
“Good. Now shut up while I assess our current situation.” Sylphie did not press Erica further. She knew Erica was only subdue for a moment. To truly tame the shrew, Sylphie need to put in more effort, effort she currently is using to assess their current situation. Sylphie doesn’t have time to control Erica. As long as she doesn’t cross the line, she can be dealt with later.

You have such an amazing way to make the words flow and unbelievable descriptions. Unique characters and a great story line. All the small clues and mystery in the humor and fantasy just makes the book perfect in my opinion. I read all chapters in two days! Less than 48 hours even! I'm REALLY looking forward to the next update, the world of Aethernea is so deep and well thought out, it's beautiful and magical. God I can't believe how creative you are, so many small details with so many families and stories everywhere. Purely fantastical, I admire you." - astro-logical from Wattpad "I love love love Aethernea so much! It is amazing how you created this new world with different creatures, magics, looks, illnesses, and evil! I was blown away by your explanation of the Mana pools and how to weave magic! Simply stunning really! You are one of my favorite authors and Wattpad and I am so glad I stumbled upon Aethernea because it is worth all of my time reading!" - Adriana_V_Blade from Wattpad "I absolutely am loving Aethernea so far. I am certain you belong in the ranks among J.K. Rowling, Rick Riordan, Suzane Collinings, and many more great and wonderful authors. You opened up a whole new world for me, which only a few great authors have accomplished. While it's true I am pulled into each and every book, few are able to capture me to the point of inescapability. Though, somehow, you have managed this feat. I thank you for this and more! You are a wonderful author and can't wait for more to come!" - daughterofpercabeth7 from Wattpad "WOW! just caught Aethernea in gravity tales! Just when I was getting tired of most xianxia novels this appears and completely blows my mind! I really like the depth and the humorous touch you give the characters and it seems you have the storyline well thought out since you are always hinting about things in the past and the future. It has been such an enjoyable experience that I couldn't stop reading, finishing it in just one day and laughing my way through most of the episodes. But what keeps me so excited for what's coming is the magic system and the professions of the world you are creating. The magic mechanics have such a huge potential! They are simple but at the same time they open so many possibilities. Even though we still only understand the basics of transmutation and augmentation, I expect them to enable fights where there is need of quick thinking and skill, and not just brainless overpower of every opponent. In a way this makes me reminiscent about The Mistborn Series by Brandon Sanderson, which are one of my favorite series ever. The thing that sets Mistborn apart from any other series is that the mechanics are so well thought out that they could be used to create a super cool triple A video game and I cannot help but hope Aethernea reaches the same level or even surpass it. I really think it has that potential. Really hope this series gets the attention it deserves. As for me, Thursdays and Sundays just got a whole more exciting! =)" - AlexMLion "Your writing is fantastic and riveting, the chapters and character flow so smooth, and it captivates the reader with the many twist and turns that tricks one mind into thinking this is about to happen, when suddenly the exact opposite happens. You truly are in inspirational writer with a brilliant mind that can see and put words into chapters and into this one truly awesome book. Thank you!" - AshleyStaar from Wattpad "I loved this story, such detailed description and accurate words, both Kiel and Elaru completely caught my attention, your writing style is just beautiful and the plot is astounding and it's just the first episode! This kind of fantasy stories are my favourite, it has a lot of magic in it, rivalry and sense of humour." - BlackWhiteD from Wattpad
