《The Chaos Within》Chloe's Quest
Advertisement
Meanwhile:-
The sky was crimson red, the moon looked like a red jewel shining through the clouds. Chloe was running through dark alleys in a strange town, wearing a mantle to keep her face and identity hidden, sneaking into the shadows to avoid being spotted by demon squads patrolling through the city, yes, she was in the "Hell" realm for some reason.
Flashbacks in Chloe's mind:-
"She's your daughter!" Chloe seems furious.
"I know, but there's nothing I can do, the moment I open a portal into Utopia and try to walk through I'll turn into ashes immediately due to the curse Theresa put on me!"
"So you'll just sit here and wait for your daughter's execution?!"
"No, I've already sent a message to someone but, I can't meet up with them!"
"Who?"
"Zakros."
"What?"
"I have something he wants and in return, he will send someone to rescue Avril."
"You asked for the help of the DEMON KING?!"
"We have no other choice, you'll have to make your way to the "Hell" realm and make contact with someone named "Armagedon" "
". . . ."
"There's no time, go in there, bring Armagedon through the Utopia gate and save my daughter, please!" He withdraws a red dagger, handing it to Chloe "Take this dagger, it can open a portal to "Hell" but, try to stay out of sights, if demons spot a mage there they will kill you in an instant!"
She grits her teeth and turns around, she waves her right hand, opening a portal with the red dagger "One last thing, what was it you offered the Demon King?"
". . . ."
"Jonathan, you can't mean-"
"Yes, the "Thousand Gates" key."
"So we take a risk to save Avril's life and have Utopia under the fangs of the Demon King or sit by, wait for her execution and let it pass for Utopia's safety."
"Precisely." He sighs then resumes "The moment you pass through this portal you'd be making that choice, it's up to you now."
Chloe stares at him with cold eyes. . . . .
"How do I find Armagedon?"
Jonathan smiles, knowing she's already made her choice "When you see a lot of unconscious drunks, beat up demons on the ground, then Armagedon is there!"
She sighs and walks through the portal without a second thought.
Present Time:-
Chloe keeps walking through the city's streets while keeping her mantle's hoodie down to keep her face hidden by the shadows. After a long walk she finds herself in a long, wide street with different shops on every corner and, right then...
A tavern's wall explodes and a demon lizard getting flung through it until he smashes against the wall of an inn on the opposite side of the street.
Chloe raises her eyebrows and stares at the number of demons beat up on the street like they were all hit by a train, they were all scattered on the ground like flies.
"Wow," she mumbled.
She pulls the mantle to keep her face covered and walks into the tavern.

Upon entering the tavern she saw some demons having their drinks on their tables. And out of sudden a demon with a Jaguar face is flung towards her like a football. She had no time to react but, someone pulled her by her arm to the right, away from the thrown demon.
"Woah there!"
Chloe looked at the demon flying through the wall, falling outside next to his pals, that was the tenth demon getting tossed out like that.
Chloe looked to her right to notice a young girl in a pink dress, with an apron on top of it. She had black hair, brown eyes, a bright smile on her face and she was a human which was weird and technically impossible in the "Hell" realm.
"Uh, thank . . . you!" Chloe responded and had a confused look on her face.
"Mhm, so, how may I help you?"
"I'm uh, "She adjusted her mantle to keep her face hidden from demons sights to not reveal her cover "-Looking for Mr.Armagedon, the first Captain in the Demon Army."
"Oh, he's over there!" The girl pointed to a table right next to the bar counter with a bulky male sitting on it, drinking an entire bottle of a strange liquid. His arms were big, had black hair, a medium-long beard, and a strong muscled chest.
"Thank you"
"Uh, sure." The girl blinked twice due to Chloe low toned reply, she gave Chloe one last look before walking off to the bar counter.
Chloe approached Armagedon with caution, the aura around him confirmed how dangerous he is and how hard it will be to convince him.
"Mr.Armagedon?"
Armagedon switched his gaze at her while sipping from his bottle "Yaaa?! How may I help ya?"
Chloe cleared her throat but the words couldn't come out, she felt the creepy silence roaming in the tavern, everyone stopped talking and they were all staring at her, it took her one second to realize they have all figured out that she's not a demon which makes her a primary prey.
"That's a lot of nerve to come here on your own, the scent of Utopia is oozing from you!"
". . . ." Chloe couldn't respond, she just remained silent while the other demons were getting off their seats, preparing to rip her to pieces.
"Guess you came to the wrong place!" Armagedon pushed himself up and glared down at Chloe.
"Ayyy let's have some fun with that one!" One of the demons laughed, he had lizard skin and an insect face, he dashed towards Chloe, raising his right claw to slice her to pieces.
The bartender girl remained silent while observing as the demon clawed Chloe's back, she didn't fight back and just fell on her right knee.
Pain surged through her body but she just clenched her fist and kept her yelp in, remaining silent.
The demon licked his lips in amusement while chuckling but then he received a blow from Armagedon, sending him through a hole in the bar's wall to join the other ten demons spread on the ground outside.

"You'll all sit down until she's done with me, once we're done with our discussion you may do as you please!" Armagedon shouted in fury, his voice ringed through the tavern, intimidating all the other demons. They all obeyed and sat back on their seats in silence.
The back side of Chloe's mantle was ripped as a result of the attack of that demon, her back was visible and bleeding. She pushed herself up slowly "I need your help."
"Huh?"
"A close friend of mine is about to get executed in the Utopian Capital. I spoke to Jonathan MacMillan and-"
"Jonathan MacMillan?"
". . . Yes."
"Ah, so he's the one who sent you here! You're a friend of his?"
" . . . Yes."
Armagedon smashed his fist against his table, breaking it to pieces.
"JONATHAN MACMILLAN SENT YOU TO ME THINKING I'D END UP HELPING YOUUUUUUU?!"
". . . "
"Do you have any idea what that piece of shit did?"
"I don't"
"That ASSHOLE killed my SON!"
"My condolences."
""My condolences"? You know what? Fuck Jonathan and FUCK YOU!"
". . ."
"Kill her already!" Armagedon gestured to the other demons in the tavern. They all got off their seats, preparing to jump at Chloe.
The bartender girl narrowed her eyes, observing Chloe's back just to notice that the wound vanished and healed.
"Oh!" The bartender girl mumbled.
The other demons jumped at Chloe from all directions. Chloe smashed her right toe against the wooden floor, freezing the entire area behind her along with all of those demons trying to get to her.
Armagedon pushed himself up, glaring down at her.
"Uh-oh, you must be the second Lieutenant of the Utopian Imperial Army!" The bartender girl jumped up in joy.
Chloe slowly pulled her mantle off, showing her face and her blue, frozen armor. There was no need to keep her identity hidden anymore.
"Are you talking about Chloe Cynesige?" Armagedon asked the mysterious bartender girl.
"Yup, the vampire princess who enrolled in the Utopian Imperial Army for some reason, she's famous for her unique mastery over winter and ice!" The bartender girl replied.
"Jonathan said he proposed to help the Demon King Zakros to locate the thousand gates key in return for his help to save his daughter from execution, and I'm here to ensu-"
"What did you just say?" The mysterious bartender asked.
"Uhm-" Chloe tried to respond but the bartender interrupted her.
"Avril MacMillan is about to get executed?" The mysterious bartender asked.
"Yes, in five days," Chloe replied.
"Come on, boss, let us rip this bitch apart alrea-"
The mysterious bartender smashes her fist against the board, shaking the entire tavern off.
"EK!" the other demons yelped like little girls. They all look terrified now.
Armagedon raised his left arm, covering his face for some reason, they were all scared? Of that bartender girl?
"Shit!" The first demon exclaimed.
"She's pissed!" Second demons exclaimed.
"We're fucked!" And the third one.
"HUUUUUUUUUUUH? Do they think they can execute my big sister whenever they want? I'm gonna bury them ten feet under then!" She shouted in anger, her tone was full of rage it ringed through the tavern like thunder, spreading fear through every demon in there. Even Armagedon took a step back and was cautious.
"C-Calm down, Alex!" Armagedon tried to calm her down.
"CALM DOWN?! They're gonna execute my sister in five bloody days and you want me to calm DOWN?"
"Y-You're Avril's little sister?" Chloe asked, confused.
"Unfortunately for you precious Utopia, YES!" Alex pulls her military coat off her chair and puts it on, heading to the exit "Let's get going!"
Chloe raised her eyebrows upon noticing that badge on Alexandra's coat, it said "2nd Captain"
Armagedon pulled his military coat as well, its badge said "1st Captain"
They stepped out of the tavern. Chloe felt a fabric covering her head when she looked up she noticed Armagedon wrapping a mantle around Chloe to hide her armor and face from sights.
"My apologies for my previous behavior, it's just that-"
"I understand, don't worry about it" Chloe responds with a bit of a cold tone, it seems obvious she doesn't care about it that much.
Armagedon nodded, slightly embarrassed by his barbaric behavior before the second Princess of the Cynesige. He dealt with her like a barbarian while she responded in the most political, delicate, and calm way which made him look like an untamed beast.
Chloe took the lead, walking in front of them but then Alexandra stopped, she turned around and shouted.
"Take care of the place for me boys!" Alex shouted to the beat-up demons on the ground in front of her tavern.
Crack sounds - - - - - - - - - The entire taverns collapses to the ground.
"Nooooooooooooo!" Alex yelled "My precious tavern!"
"Oh my!" Chloe exclaimed.
"Oh well, at least it's insured!" Alexandra cheered up.
Armagedon remained silent, standing behind Chloe for some reason with his legs trembling.
Alex turned around and stares at Armagedon, observing his suspicious behavior "You did pay for the insurance with the money I gave you a week ago, didn't you?"
"Well-Why of course!"
"Liar!"
"Ok, fine, I might have spent it on some gambling!"
"YOU DID WHAT?!!" She shouted in anger.
"W-Wait, Alex, come on!"
"Grrrrrrrrrrrrr!" She growled at him.
Armagedon was holding onto Chloe's shoulders, trembling in fear from Alexandra.
"We're gonna discuss this LATER!" She walks off ahead of them with her fists clenched.
"Wow!" Chloe exclaimed.
Armagedon sighed, walking behind Alexandra while rubbing his neck.
The trio made their way through the "Hell Deserts", running as fast as they could, heading to the main gate to Utopia.
Meanwhile:-

Of Men and Dragons, Book 1
Book 1 is now available on Kindle, or in paperback/hardcover! You can buy it here! Jack crash-landed on a planet where the natives are seven-foot-tall carnivorous cat-lizards currently somewhere between stone and bronze age. The good news is the natives think the ship that crashed into their mountain is a dragon and are steering clear of it. The bad news is they just left one of their own as a sacrifice to appease the beast. No matter what Jack and his AI co-pilot decide, his life just got a lot more complicated... ATTENTION: This is soft sci-fi rather than hard sci-fi, hence why I chose that tag. For those of you unfamiliar with the distinction, here's what Wikipedia had to say. 1. It explores the "soft" sciences, and especially the social sciences (for example, anthropology, sociology, or psychology), rather than engineering or the "hard" sciences (for example, physics, astronomy, or chemistry). 2. It is not scientifically accurate or plausible; the opposite of hard science fiction. Soft science fiction of either type is often more concerned with character and speculative societies, rather than speculative science or engineering. The term first appeared in the late 1970s and is attributed to Australian literary scholar Peter Nicholls.

What Was Lost Outside Time
What happens to a mind, subjected to an infinite span of time? What remains, when it is taken out again? This is the story of an individual reborn after such time has passed that nothing remains of what it was; an individual who must learn once again what it is to be, beginning with awareness of the idea of awareness, and growing from there; from awareness of self, to awareness of others, to awareness of society, and on. This is the story of a mind; growing, learning, adapting, and becoming more. -- Currently the first three chapters are - well, kind of experimental. I both like and hate these; they were a pain to write, and I'm told by at least one person that they're painful to get through, but I think something like them is necessary to set one of the basic ideas about the way the story is written. It gets slightly more normal after that, the first arc of the story is rather "battle school", and I think I may need to go back and edit it - the characterization didn't end up working out as well as I had originally hoped, unfortunately, and ended up rather weak to my eye. I may go back and add a sub-plot or two, depending on how well I can handle the intended perspective shift of the second arc. -- Currently on hiatus, in case that wasn't obvious. I'm debating between rewriting large portions of what I've already written, and just finishing out the story, but either way, I don't actually have a clear idea of what I want to do right now. If I'm still feeling the same way in a few months I'll put a chapter up explaining where the story was going, maybe, so the people who have enjoyed it can know where the story was intended to go, and close this out.
