“Cough”
After having practically sobbed and cried my soul away, I wiped the tears and mucus off my face. The movement in my head had long ceased but I had continued crying as I realized the fragility that is a human being when they feel their brain has been invaded by slime.
Yes, the slime invaded my brain.
It was the only conclusion I could draw during my “episode” of depression at the thought of a voice followed by squirming in my brain. I may be impulsive and slightly sociopathic but it’s not like the slime had messed up my mental abilities as I was always slightly sharp or so I self-proclaimed a very long time ago in my teens so I guessed at what happened. Though that leaves me concerned about what its messing with in my head…
Back to the matter at hand, after having cleared my face of all signs of my previous breakdown, I got up still a looking around a little vigilantly but mostly tired and walked towards the couch. Sitting down on something soft helped calm me down a little more and organize my thoughts at what had happened for the second time today. ‘I ordered a ball found in the sea by Fred, received said ball and followed it up with several experiments which were completely useless except for the part where I fed it electricity, opened the ball and found a slime which decided to ‘play’ with me only to stun me into fainting with it having crawled its way into my brain which took about 24 hours or so I presume, it then scared the living shit out of me for a so called “language access” and then squirmed around in my brain which led me to have a full on mental breakdown at the idea…no, fact that it is currently living in my head.’ My thoughts rapidly spun and I recounted the events over the last day and morning which left me a little shocked that I was even able to clearly perceive everything so well even though I just left my mental breakdown state.

“Weird” I mumble.
“What is weird?” A voice echoed that was slightly soft yet oddly feeling monotone without much emotion.
My body tensed when I heard the question, yet seemingly almost as if in acceptance I take a deep breath and reply” Are you the slime I met yesterday?”
A moment of silence passes through the apartment before the voice speaks up again with a simple but very matter-of-fact like “Yes.” To which I calm down even more which left me a little surprised at how well I am handling this situation. I decide it’s best to find out a bit more about my current predicament and how bad it actually is and continue with “Can you tell me what you are?”
The voice was quiet as if thinking for a second before replying almost casually “ I am the slime you opened yesterday”
‘Great, it can think…wait not so great! What is it doing in my brain???’ My thoughts lead to a slight panic which destroyed the previous calm I had even managed to muster in the first place.
“Ok…uhm, can you explain what you are doing in head?” I questioned again but with as gentle and non-threatening tone I could create in this situation for fear of it taking my apprehension at its breaching of my privacy on so many goddamn levels as a reason to kill me.
“What? This is my home.” The slime replied in an absurdly confident tone which left me stunned at its ego. ‘I mean, come on! You pop out of a ball and take residence in my head and just declare it your property now!? What are you? The slime version of a fucking mob boss or kingpin??’
“Wait a few minutes, I am learning the language.” The slimes voice echoed in my head again.
Now…THAT officially sent my mind into a downward spiral of thoughts on doom, slime invasion, the republic of brain slimes which led further to mind controlled human slaves to a slime dictator or the complete takeover of human independence by the greater slime powers. ‘Nononononono, I just had to be the first of those taken over by the slime!? Whoever fucking said slimes are harmless level 1’s should just fucking burn even in his goddamn afterlife! Bastard was probably a slime spy inserted into creating an underestimation of the slime nations powers! Bastard!’ My thoughts continued fearing my future in the hands of my new slime overlords while cursing whoever taught us slimes were weak in strings and varieties of curses that I didn’t even know I knew.

“Okay, I am done!” The slime declared which snapped me out of reverie of doom and gloom.
“Okay? Uhm…how did you learn the language exactly?” I asked while feeling a little nervous because I was slightly afraid of the answer that I had some guesses towards.
“From you, of course! You gave me access, remember?”
“I did?” Shocked at what was said.’ When the hell did I give you access?’ I thought.
“Just now, I said language access and you said okay. Did your memory centers get damaged during my attachment to your brain? I checked a couple of times to make sure nothing damaging was done but let me do it again to make sure.” The slime said in one breath telepathically or at least I think it was telepathically?
“Wait! No, don’t! Your right! I remember!” I yelled, extremely afraid of this method of checking the slime spoke off and I did technically say okay during my confusion so I wasn’t lying either.
“Oh good, I was afraid I had hurt your potential.”
“Huh? Potential for what exactly?” I carefully chose my words as this was the best time to get a clue at the things objective.
“Your evolutionary potential, of course.”
‘That did not help me in anyway at all at finding out what you wanted! Screw it! I am already stuck in this spot so whatever, let’s be blunt about this hellish situation!’
“Uhm, cough, could you…cough, tell me what your objective is?” My voice slightly stuttered but managed to get my question out in one piece at least.
“Sure, my objective is the same as yours, to follow our evolutionary ascent so that you and I can join your glorious rank 4 civilization to its ultimate transcendence. Though you do seem frailer than the average of your race and mental capacities seem severely restricted, I am sure we will be able to secure ourselves a bright future with enough hard work and I also guessed that is why, your parents bought me for you.”
“What? My parents bought you for me?” I was starting to get numb at all these shocking events at this point as I started losing my cool. ‘ My parents bought you for me? What in all of existence does that mean? I bought you from that sleazy Pirate Fred! I paid 200$ and now you’re telling me I am frail and I am mentally restricted? I swear it sounds like you’re calling me retarded!’
I finally couldn’t hold it in and blurted out:“Wait, wait… wait a goddamn moment! I bought you from Fred the guy who found you in a cave in the sea, my parents don’t even know slimes like you exist nor does anyone else for that matter!”
“…”
The slime was silent for a long time before finally seeming to realize that it wasn’t really clear on the situation.
“Can you bring me to the ball?” It finally asked
I nodded and went to grab the ball as I realized the slime seems to be just as lost as me now. ‘ Ha! Good, at least I won’t be alone in suffering with the constant confusion. Serves you right!’ I gloated internally for a moment before finally reaching the ball.
I asked “What do you need me to do with the ball?”
“Grab it and hold”
Seemed easy enough.
