《The Far Away Dream》Life is the gritty sand between my fingers

͢There is always something left behind; something to return to.
The lonesome scuff of boots in the desert struggles with the competing noise of a howling wind; a tempest that chases away loose sand, only to leave it lying in front of two blurry figures. Heat waves dance on the horizon and rise in fury against the dreaded sun. In the midst of the wasteland a hand wavers, grabbing an olive-green canteen. It is held to a parched mouth and starts to empty its contents. Water spills down a face eager to take more than it can hold. Time comes to a halt and a pair of footsteps is wiped away. One of the figures, a pilot, comes into focus as he stumbles to the ground.
His desperate hand reaches for the ground and picks up a fist-full of gritty sand. It burns even through his leather glove. The pilot watches aimlessly through his tinted flying goggles, as the grains sift through his fingers and into the wind. The tiny granules collect themselves like sweat along the edges of his worn leather pilot's helmet, rugged clothing, and his rolled up arm sleeve exposing a tattoo that says Dominion. The pilot’s head turns, his chin strap dangling, while airborne grains cause stinging on his bare cheeks. His long scarf whips in the wind with repeated noises, gently urging him to get back on his feet. He fixes his goggles. Everything in front of him was just as he hoped.
Indented roofs bang without rhythm against the rusted walls of abandoned shacks. Homes lie buried in sand next to tall towers and crooked metal staircases. It was obvious the place was impoverished, being on the outskirts of a once flourishing city. Before the pilot can take another step closer, a hissing voice stops him.

“Fool! You can't even get to it!”
Sunlight gleams off the pilot's goggle-lenses and pricks the distance with its blinding light. The reflection grows with his matching smile; an uncontrollable smile of satisfaction that burns across his face like a wildfire.
“Now what will you do?” scoffs the voice.
“They call me strange, a pilot known as Dominion.” The pilot tilts his head back and takes the last few drops of remaining water. Apathy takes control of him and his leather glove smears water and perspiration around the edges of his mouth.
“It's time to head back, you think?”
“All that wandering and you simply wish to turn around?!” hisses the voice.
The pilot stares blindly across the open desert at the remains of a ghost city. The inhabitants were long gone, leaving behind the carcasses of their ancient pride. It was once their home, and now just something to return to.
“I was born here. The possessor priesthood made me what I am. They've taken everything from me, but now I'll find it; my picture and a chance to bring The Far Away Dream to life!”
“The dream is over! You don't even have enough souls”
“Watch me!”
“You're a fool! A failed experiment! You're just a pilot! A...”
A brief moment of anger overcomes the pilot and fades with the hissing sands.
Suddenly, the second figure vanishes, as if it started as a mirage and faded with the invading sandstorm. The pilot turns himself around, letting his scarf chastise the desert wind around him. He clenches his fists taking in the wonderful heat, as it fills him with insanity. His olive-green canteen hits the sand, leaving its imprint on the granules. His boots plow through the desert as the he heads back in the direction he came from.
“This life is the gritty sand between my fingers… ”

Raven: The Beginning
'What's the worst that could happen'? is what I thought to myself as I entered the World of the Veil with a new, experimental machine that the company created. I was originally excited to participate in their alpha test, and now, looking back, I was just a naive little girl that didn't know what it was like to truly suffer. Sarah was one of the world's best assassin players, but she wasn't prepared for getting stuck as a low-level player in a new game. Suddenly she has to struggle just to survive against the monsters of the world, while also keeping her secret from the authorities. What happens when the killing, and the consequences, are just too real? Author's Note (and a Warning): This book is about a normal person that is forced into a fantasy / medieval environment. What could possibly go wrong with our heroine? This novel is a sort of, legacy. I wanted to at least put it out there before I passed away due to a combination of financial difficulty, homelessness, job loss, and my last interview taking up the last of my savings (which I did not get the job). If by some miracle, and I get a job that can give me a pay advance by next week (4/8) and I survive this turbulent time, I will edit this - and the formating of the book). If you are so willing, please donate on my patreon page. Regards, Dave

Battleforged: Book 1 - THE BILLION CREDIT HEIST - An Earth Apocalypse LitRPG Adventure
To do list for the post apocalypse: 1. Survive the orcs rampaging through your city. 2. Survive the pod trying to steal your mind. 3. Pull off the greatest heist of all time. It still amazed Eric how much the world’s end mirrored the movie his obsessed mother had put into production… set to release just three days after the Apocalypse. Only problem was, in the real world there were no chosen ones destined to fight the beast hordes now slaughtering countless millions in every major city on Earth. But humanity wasn’t completely helpless. You really could level up in this brave new world, and embrace magic, peril, and limitless power! So long as you didn’t mind a 90% mortality rate in alien vegetative pods as happy to turn you into topsoil as give you any shot at mastering a System designed to benefit elite invaders. Not fragile humans just trying to survive. But Eric was all about beating the odds… Even if it killed him. Author's Note - I plan in releasing 1 chapter a day for the first thirty days. I will then be posting at least 3 times a week. This story is for anyone who enjoys slow-rise-to-power story arcs! Our hero will start out humbled and desperate, struggling just to survive. And slowly, with time, diligence, and training his butt off, he'll evolve into a powerhouse that will force even his enemies to treat him with respect. And nothing beats the post-apocalyptic blues like stealing an absolute fortune in gold, right out from under the noses of everyone trying to kill you! Enough gold to live like a king… or start a city of your own!

A Litrpg apocalypse
Join Aya as her world will be changed forever by the advance of a so-called System and where she will need to keep herself and the ones she cares about safe when the world goes to a different kind of hell than it was already heading to! The story will feature a stubborn and sometimes just plain weird female MC and those she cares about. Edit 02-03-22First mini arc is completed, am working on the second part. Note: this is my first time writing a Litrpg and the second time I tried to write a story which contains more than a few pages. So please bear with me and feel free to offer suggestions, positive criticism, and the like in the comments. A note’s note: the Litrpg part will be, especially in the beginning, slow going. While I like to think this story is going to be a Litrpg, it will not focus heavily on the mechanics. And finally, a note-like note of a note: English is not my native language and only me, myself and Word grammar check have looked at the text. If you see a horrible affront to the English language, please let me know. Enjoy!
