《Between Gods And Mortals》Chapter 19: All hope in you

Two weeks have passed since Ivar was arrested. Nothing relevant came out of his interrogation. How he survived and where he's been all these years. At the moment he only believes that the giants will perish and that his mission is already done. Now just waiting for your rescue and the end.
An urgent meeting is called and Bella cannot attend. She has never been so worried as she is now. War has already been declared and she realizes that something is still wrong, except that no clues or suspicions come to mind. She waits outside the room where Erik, Ragnarson and the elders are.
Even with Ivar's arrest and an imminent war, Bella doesn't stop thinking about everything that happens and still there is something wrong. When Erik declared war, Thor was surprised, in addition to having promised he would help. The Asgardian king did not want this coming war, but he has no option and it is all against him. Even after she discovered Ivar and put Thor in charge, Bella suspects that things still don't fall into place, which isn't a good thing, as another enemy could step in.
The problem is that Bella sees it and no one would give her a voice, not even Ragnarson, who has changed these past few weeks. Everyone is focused on the coming war against Asgard. Bell, who is usually rational, finds herself falling into despair, because this time she can't do anything. The only salvation would be to trust the unlikely Mike and Odin.
Would they be able to stop the war is the big question. Nobody is thinking about the consequences after them. Peace was being fruitful for all and no doubt other kingdoms will unite, like the surtrs who must go to Asgard's side. Frustrated, Bella puts a hand to her head. Common gestures within the castle, including by Ragnarson. Speaking of the warrior, he has just left the meeting.
He sees Bella and immediately nods, which means they have to talk in a private place. From the look of Ragnarson, he won't bring good news, they both enter an empty room nearby. The warrior enters first and Bella looks down the hall to see if there is anyone spying or following, she doesn't see anyone and closes the door.
What happened, Ragnarson? Things are not looking good! What was there ? Ivar doesn't mean anything, not even about torture or pressure! I can't believe you did this! - Bella says angrily. Was necessary! Anyway, the war will come anyway, we just have to do something before... What would it be ? Steal the Man's Slayer! What ? You know how dangerous she is! We can not do that! If Thor uses it, we will be annihilated! We don't know the full potential. We'll steal it and a pre-war meeting will be set up in a week. This is not good! I do not like it! I think we are being hasty… No, Bella! I disagree! We have to do this! Asgard broke the treaty and killed our king… his father! I know, but something is wrong...
Ragnarson punches the wall in anger interrupting what the girl was about to say, Bella's attitude pisses him off. She doesn't want war after the Asgardian treachery. The warrior thought she would be with him after all this. Only this time his thoughts diverge. He walks towards the door and before leaving says:
Ivar's execution will be after the pre-war meeting and we will steal the Man's Slayer. It's already decided and there's nothing you can do to stop it! What ? Wait Ragnarson! Don't you find it strange that Ivar worked for Thor? We have to talk more about this… Goodbye…

Ragnarson closes the door and leaves the room. Bella is now alone for good, she doesn't have enough political strength to make people analyze the situation they are in. That there's something much bigger going on and nobody can see it. And to make matters worse, not even she knows.
Bella is an ordinary person too, despite her high intelligence, she gets angry at what Ragnarson has just done. When people are angry, they often act rashly. The girl has left the room and walks in a hurry to the depths of the castle. She is heading towards the witches evidently.
She arrives at the darkest part of the castle, there isn't much light and people don't dare go. It's curious that beings so powerful and dangerous live just below them. King Lumnus never feared for them and always worked with them without problems, but nothing is forever. Things change over time. Erik is due to visit them soon and it is not known how they will welcome him.
She makes it to the door and starts banging hard on it. With screams she asks them to let her in. Nothing happens and no response comes. The girl doesn't give up and keeps pounding on the door in an attempt to get the witches to open it. One of them approaches and says:
Princess Bella… We've helped everything we can… Now you have to solve your problems yourself! Lilith? Let me in! I want to be sent back to Earth!
A brief silence ensues, Lilith steps away from the door and hears new steps towards Bella. Apparently something startled and surprised them. Which makes the girl stop knocking on the door momentarily. A few whispers are heard, it seems like Agnis has appeared, Bella can hear her voice. Agnes is the older sorceress sister.
Bella… Are you really going to Midgard? Yes I have to go! I decided to believe in Odin and Mike! They will save us! Mike is the chosen one!!!
The big door opens and all the sisters appear. Bella doesn't know exactly why they let it in. Ragnarson had said he sought them out and physically kicked him out. She already expected rejection, but she had no other options. It was risking everything on this.
Okay… we'll help you get to Midgard again. We just can't bring her back. It will be on its own! I already know what to do! Understood!
The sisters get the tools to set up the entire teleportation ritual again. Bella waits seated and this time no one knows about her going to Midgard and doesn't intend to warn anyone. Times are urgent, there is no time for goodbyes and conversations. The sorceress Agnis approaches and puts her hands on the girl's face and looks deep into her eyes. She says nothing and lets go, turning her back on the princess.
Agnis!!! Wait! Why are you helping me? - Asks Bella. You decided to believe Mike and Odin… I decided to believe you! Everything is ready, Bella! We can now begin the ritual of sending to Midgard! - Says Lilith.
Bella will position herself the same as last time, the sisters chant and the strong blue light appears. And so she is sent to Midgard. After the ritual, Lilith and other sisters approach Agnis with suspicion in their eyes and the question:
Why did you let her go back to Midgard? You know very well that we have laws to follow... not to interfere! Sisters… I didn't interfere in anything… Let's say I only gave chance to chance… - Agnis shows some irony in his speech Unaceptable! The future as you know is volatile… What we saw may or may not happen… Is it really possible that the chosen one has appeared? I don't know... only time will tell…

Bella arrives in Midgard, she is sent to the same warehouse where every fight between Ivar and Thor takes place. She kneels down and puts one hand on the floor, taking a deep breath too. She can feel and grasp that a lot of what goes on today is because of what happened there years ago. Ivar carries a whole lot of hate in him and strangely he's loaded onto the giants.
She feels sorry for Mike, who will have to try to save her father's life and prevent a war of nations and people she has never seen in her life. Her responsibility is too great, but as she said to the witches. He is the only one who can avoid total annihilation at this point. She gets up and walks towards Odin's house.
Bella has rushed out of Jotunheim and has only a cell phone, which helps her guide. Odin's complex is at least an hour's walk away. She has no choice but to walk there. Bella has no diamonds and much less Earth money. Which leaves her frustrated, that she thinks for a moment she was hasty without a plan. However, there is no turning back, the path Bella chose is followed by uncertainty and minimal probabilities.
If it's been nearly three months, it's not possible for Mike to get strong enough to match Thor, or if he's going to compare a lower level, Ragnarson. Odin thinks Mike is the chosen one, but there's no way to prove or be sure about that, his talent and strength is undeniable, but nothing big compared to giant or Asgardian soldiers. With Mjolnir, that fact could change. When she left Earth he still hadn't mastered her at all. It was stuck, he only had a heavy hammer in his hand.
She smiles amid such sadness at the thought of Mike, curious to see her progress after a few months away. She has decided to believe them, but is still reticent and her biggest question is why Mike's father, Ivar. He allied back with the Asgardians and Thor to destroy the giants of Jotunheim. She knows something isn't right. How and why would Ivar forgive Thor and why did he not come to visit his son and wife? Bella believes her memories have been altered or Ivar is a double agent.
On the journey here, numerous questions were asked and the answers did not come. They just make everyone more frustrated and anxious, which is bad. Ragnarson and Erik can't see what's around or what might happen. The sorceress even mentioned that Ragnarok would be coming. Which made them act with caution in the matter of Ivar, Asgard and Thor. But the Asgaridan treachery with the murder of King Lumnus changed everything.
The walk to Woden's compound is long due to his thoughts and reasonings of worry and fear. She is already close to the place and feels a very strong energy emanating. She assumes it's from Odin training Mike at high intensity. When she first arrived in Midgard, she was able to find Odin through Mike, as his energy stood out above other humans.
The energy in Bella's world is different from that of humans in Midgard, al. Energy is directly related to the strength that the individual has. Having great energy makes you able to lift heavy objects, have more speed, among other advantages. Basically physical attributes. A physically strong human being would be annihilated against a low-ranking soldier from anyone in the realm, whether Asgard or Jotunheim.
In Midgard, people scatter their energy too much, use it for various functions, mainly mental, that's why they've advanced so much, much more than Bella's world, and they don't have the nutrients from our cultivation and other knowledge. Everything is different.
During this time that Odin was on Earth, He was training Mike and improving his physique, but always under observation so as not to draw attention from Mike himself and other humans, which would put him at risk and would draw unnecessary attention. Odin has trained him all this time believing in a prophecy that might not happen or much less be Mike. "He who had his home and his past torn, will be the same one who will save everyone"
She blushes a little at the thought of Mike. They almost kissed before she left. But nothing has changed since then, the problems that everyone must face makes it irrelevant and even disruptive. She enters the complex and doesn't see either of them. The energy that was emanating when she was away is still strong in the place. Bella walks towards her and notes that there is no fight going on at the moment and that Odin shouldn't be home. The energy that comes out is warm and makes even Bella feel good, like she's bringing comfort.
Bella opens the door and enters the training room. In the center of it is Mike sitting on his back meditating. The warm energy she felt was Mike's and he wasn't even struggling. This immediately scares her to the point that she opens her eyes and doesn't breathe for a few seconds. It's scary Mike's development in these months for Bella, to the point that she thinks it was Odin. Mike hasn't felt his presence yet, he's very focused. Bella decides to approach him and kick him.
Hey… Why are you bumbling like that? What? Bella? When did you arrive? - Mike is scared by the girl and turns to see her Yes, I've just arrived and I've come face to face with you doing nothing… Disappointing… Ah! It's just that I was on break. Woden went to buy some things
Standing in front of Bella, she can see that his physical appearance has changed too, he is bigger and stronger. But the main change is his face. Mike has a full beard and hair. Very common appearance for a beggar. She starts to laugh and Mike stands there not understanding anything and asks:
What was it ? Your face my god… I've already come here with a lot of work, apparently. Let's change your horrible look Ah… I've been training so much that I even forgot about vanity… I understand…
Bella gets emotional for a moment with Mike. He is about to embark on a world and a fight that does not belong to him and no one owes him anything. Quite the opposite. The Asgardian Thor nearly killed his father and the giants are in possession of him for future execution. Mike cares about Odin and Bella is of immeasurable benevolence.
Bella! Why did you come back ? What happened ? Have you heard from my father? Tell me everything! - Mike's mood changes drastically, before it was light, now it's apprehensive. Right! The news is not the best… Don't you want to wait for Odin to arrive? Not! It does not give! I understand! To begin with, your father was captured! What ? Has he proved his innocence? No… on the contrary… I'm sorry Mike! It can not be! He admitted to killing your father! There's something wrong, he would never do that... I think so too, Mike! There is someone playing this game and we don't know! Listen... In a week there will be a pre-war meeting between the realms and on this day your father will also be executed. My God! I have to stop! I can't let him die like this... Look… I didn't believe you, but now I see that you are capable and that you will be able to stop it! And with Mjolnir, you become even stronger Well, about Mjolnir… - The boy's voice is low, as if there is some disappointment. Bella interrupts him and puts both hands on his face and says: It does not matter! To avoid something even worse, we have to go for it! I will not give up! We can save your father and prevent this war! just as you believe in his innocence! Thanks…
A noise is heard and Odin appears, he smiles and goes over to the two young men. Just like Mike, he's glad she's back and she's fine. They both hug each other tightly and she tells him all the news she has had from Jotunheim. But what terrifies Odin most is that the Men Slayer is about to be stolen. The most powerful weapon in all kingdoms would be in the hands of those who want revenge and death.
Odin also agrees with Bella that most likely there is a person who hasn't shown up yet playing and controlling. This guy probably manipulated Ivar's memories and used him to kill Lumnus. Odin said that the study of memory manipulation was very rare and therefore he had little knowledge. His son Loki tried to enter this world, but failed and so he gave up.
The three are facing a great impasse. Even though Odin has coached Mike all these years, he has no real experience. The old man has yet to formulate a better plan. Bella warned that they are only seven days old and every minute counts. Odin puts his hand on Mike's shoulder and says:
Come on, Mike! We have to make you dominate Mjolnir… Like ? In all this time you still haven't mastered Mjolnir? - Asks Bella. Well… that's what I wanted to tell you before… - Mike says embarrassed Why is the gun not connecting? It shouldn't take so long… - asks Bella. We have seven days to achieve… I have a plan that should be used as a last option - says Odin. Is urgent! Mjolnir is our biggest advantage in a fight against Thor or Ragnarson! - Bella this time raises her tone. Do you think I don't know that? Let us not despair yet! Let's keep training until then… With you here, training will get even heavier. Time is our enemy too now! Right!
Bella will be joining Mike's training in these seven crucial days. Mike hasn't evolved at all since she left as far as Mjolnir is concerned. Mike was unable to release any fraction of her power. And that was the trump card expected by Odin and the princess. The fact that he didn't make it now left her a little frustrated, but seeing the determination of both of them, she returns to the hope she had before they met. Mike is capable of great things.
The three go to the training site, the old train station nearby. Bella looks around and sees a totally destroyed environment, with lots of holes and destruction. The trains are also all positioned in different places than before. this means that all this time he managed to increase his strength by pulling the wagons and in the fights against Odin he learned combat. His body was even more remodeled, now in complete form.
What surprises again Bella who only saw his energy, but the power of destruction, evolution and strength that Mike acquired is frightening, all in such a short time. By the look of it, Mike is only one level lower than Ragnarson. However, Thor is still unreachable even without Mjolnir, his former weapon.
Mike cannot go into Odin and Bella's world without being prepared for a potential battle. It's either that or die, the old man has coached Mike indirectly for years and now the real training has come. To reach the full potential that the boy carries. Difficult mission he never complained about.
Odin and Bella know that Mike wants to save his father after learning the whole truth behind his disappearance. He sees that Ivar was wronged and betrayed by those he saw as an equal, this person has a name and is Thor. Who couldn't accept his abandoning his people to live in Midgard. And now inexplicably, Ivar is back and with part of the memories back according to Ragnarson.
It's very hard to believe that after all this he would have come back and taken Thor's side on his own. Therefore, Bella believes her memories have been altered and manipulated, however no one in Jotunheim believes this and after Ivar's confession. All the reasons of the advisers and the king were gone and war was declared.
Practice starts and Bella is curious to see how much Mike has evolved, she positions herself a few meters away from the boy and Odin raises his arm as far as he can, and as soon as he goes all the way down it means the fight can start. The old man stands with his arm stretched up and looks at both of them, and says to Bella:
You better go all out... What do you mean ?
Bella grips her sword and stares at Mike. Odin makes the descent move and so begins the fight. The princess blinks her eye for a moment and Mike loses sight, he is already in front of her with Mjolnir coming towards her to attack. She can do nothing but protect herself with the sword. So she does, but has been thrown back.
Mike starts a sequence of several attacks and suffocates Bella with all his force and pressure, who can only defend herself. Until the boy sees her distraction and flanks her. Now he's on his back lifting the hammer to the highest point. This time, Bella couldn't protect herself let alone escape. Everything is very fast and in a matter of seconds. Mike is about to deliver the blow when Odin stops him with his spear.
The princess is lying on the ground frightened by what she had just witnessed in just a few seconds. Mike who has never killed anyone and has only a few months of experience in armed combat is excellent. Maybe he really is a genius, or chosen as Odin thinks. The girl had her doubts and was afraid, but experiencing her growth is increasingly clear.
Odin goes on the offensive, against him Mike is already in trouble and doesn't have the same facility. Something to be expected, as Odin has trained his children and has many years of experience, but he still shows some difficulty against Mike. There is no one-sidedness as it was.
The practice continues for a few more hours until it ends, Mike collapses from fatigue. He always gives his all to reach his goals. Odin carries him to the compound for treatment and recovery. Mike is to be applauded for getting where he is. Bella smiles and touches her hand. Her effort will not be in vain.
Before bed, Bella visits Mike in her room and sees him reading a book and apparently it's important to him as there are pen markings and some bent parts. It's like he's studying that book.
Bella is still learning a lot about Midgard, she knows that humans have grown exorbitant in knowledge, something that even she wants to bring to her people. The exchange of information would be of great value, within the permitted limits. Well, it is worth remembering that it is not allowed to get involved in political affairs, killing humans among other rules. Mike is sitting on the bed and Bella approaches to sit, she asks him:
What book is this? The Prince, by Nicolas Machiavelli… You seem to be very interested in him... These months here in the Woden complex I read several books, and this is one of the most important… Why ? What is he about? Machiavelli determines how a king should behave before his people, how he should decide... It's basically a political manual. I don't understand… You are not a king, do you intend to be one? You're looking too small… The book fits anyone! Like ? In his book he says that the end justifies the means, for example, which means that any act is worth it to achieve your goals. oh
The two talk some more before going to sleep, Mike promises to lend Bella the book when he's done. Mike is training his mind as much as his body. The girl may not initially understand why the boy is reading this book, but it is very important that he does. He realized that what he is about to do could change nations, states, kings and princes. His next step, which is to at least save his father, could have big consequences.
In the book The Prince, Machiavelli also brings the reflection if it is the king to be feared or loved, and the answer is that the king must be both. It makes him think of Odin, who from what he understood was loved by his people, but also feared for his strength. In other words, he was a good king.
However, Mike is no king, and he brings that thought to himself as an exercise. In your next act, is it better to do something to be loved or feared by everyone? In your case there is no way to be both. In seven days Woden and Bella's world will be in chaos and only they can do anything.

8 164To Blunt The Sharpest Claw
The Velvet Paw of Asquith Novels are a series of New Fable genre novels that involve cats and dogs and high adventure and romance and espionage and food-fights and hotels and explosions and car chases. With large casts, exotic locations and an absurdity only possible in the absence of human characters, the Velvet Paw of Asquith Novels blend Wind in the Willows with James Bond, though with more cafes and fewer badgers. This submission is the third title in its Morigan Trilogy, beginning two-thirds of the way through the series' longest adventure yet. Here's a quick recount of what's happened so far: When Oscar Teabag-Dooven, a Velvet Paw of Asquith, is ordered to investigate how a mysterious poet, the Ar'dath-Irr, is able to travel instantaneously around the world, two very bad things happen. Firstly, he meets Lydia, an insane librarian who punches everyone in the face, and secondly, the Ar'dath-Irr reveals he is intent on taking over the world. Although this second thing might be considered worse than the first, Oscar feels differently following Lydia’s destruction of a cafe, a library and his face in one afternoon. In comparison, thwarting world domination just seems easier. Along with Binklemitre, a fellow Velvet Paw of Asquith, and Lydia, Oscar infiltrates the Ar’dath-Irr’s realm of dark poetry to discover the dog not only intends wrenching the world apart but has no intention of cleaning up afterwards. As a result, Oscar decides it’s all too hard and goes home to have a bath. After lots of arguing and the sort of food fight that posh restaurants were invented for, Lydia and Binklemitre convince him that they must stop the Ar’dath-Irr for several reasons, one of them quite serious. A vibrant cast of characters collide as Oscar, Lydia and Binklemitre battle the Ar’dath-Irr and his disciples in an adventure involving exploding cafés and appalling hotels, car chases and inadvertent surgery, dreadful poetry, lots of arguments and at least one temper-tantrum, all of which draw the three into dark and convoluted corners of a world they weren’t aware existed. Moreover, any chance of sitting down and discussing things over some buns disappears when Lydia punches the Ar’dath-Irr in the face. This results in her having a psychotic episode and Oscar getting run over by an ambulance. Although Binklemitre suffers neither, he witnesses both, which is almost as dreadful, though not nearly so messy. An enormous battle ensues, followed by a dinner party and then everything explodes.
