《Between Gods And Mortals》Chapter 2 - The Battle of Subjugation - Day One

At that time the situation in the war was unfavorable. Lumnus gave Ragnarson authority to act as necessary to win. And what happened was that the army of giants was surrounded. The army consisted of about ten thousand men, while the rival would have twice as much, that is, twenty thousand soldiers. It was the Fire Kingdom army. Also known as Surtrs who were born there. Reference to the God Surt who guarded Muspelheim. These people have very strict military education as well and are known to be very reasonable. Diplomacy and peace were not part of their vocabulary, which makes them difficult to deal with. Ragnarson and his soldiers, given the situation, decided to move the war to a castle as their last strategy. Ragnarson the greatest warrior of the giants retreating or fleeing? Yes, even he cannot fight something beyond his control, he is only one. The army manages to take the lead and withdraw from the place, through horses and prior preparation for a situation like this. The night before, Ragnarson and his deputy captain at the time, Einar. The man who was new to warfare but who because of his intelligence and status rose quickly through the kingdom's military hierarchy.
The post of deputy captain is only achieved after years of experience or countless wars. The king was always against these privileges but they were customs of thousands of years, so he was never the target of his focus but always the target of criticism, as it did not benefit the soldiers with more merit and honor. Einar doesn't have Ragnarson's full tactical and military confidence but he knows he lays down his life for his people and kingdom without hesitation and that was enough for Ragnarson to respect him at least on the battlefield. Both had discussed the possibility of taking the battle to the nearby Castle of Aegir and from there battling on a slight geographical advantage. Both agree that it would be necessary to use this resource during the battle and therefore left out combat horses and soldiers in readiness.
Entering the abandoned castle, which was near the sea, it was used as a strategic point for entry and exit of soldiers from that region, in addition to trade. The castle was clearly not meant to protect from land attacks, let alone sea ones. It has a square shape with long edges which allows a large number of people to be present on its four sides. The only advantage presented is that the south of the castle overlooked the sea, which makes it impossible for soldiers to move without using boats. This resource that the opponent did not have, as a sea battle was not planned, so the battle would only be land and Ragnarson made that happen for sure.
The strategy was simple: the enemy cannot flank, they will surround the castle and attack on three out of four possible fronts at the same time. A challenge to overcome, bordering on impossible due to the number of enemy soldiers and the possible arrival of reinforcements, but Ragnarson never gives up and he never will.
Inside the castle, Ragnarson's men already knew what to do, as the strategy for this situation had already been set up the night before. Three thousand men to look after each side liable to attack. Ragnarson was responsible for the East of the Castle, the most vulnerable point due to its height and consequently easy access. Einar would take the north, a dangerous place because there was the access gate to the castle, but it was heavily reinforced to prevent its destruction.

With preparations made, Ragnarson goes to the north of the castle and stands on the edge watching the horizon and the approaching enemy army. The general is in a very serious and cold pose, there is no life there, the war mode is fully active to the point that the murderous intention emanates from him. Ragnarson is totally static in his blanket made of some animal skin and holding his sword forged by the best smiths in the seven kingdoms. Such sword whose name is LionBite, lion bite, leverages all the power and brute strength of the warrior who wields it, made under the demands of Ragnarson, who asked for a long and very heavy sword, so that it is possible to kill any creature or warrior with her. The LionBite has a peculiar shape, the face of a lion is set on the hilt and a red diamond on the pommel. The metal comes from a rare Niflheim metal called mithrell, in which only a very good blacksmith can find the exact melting point of the sword. The chance of failure is high and not worth it as it's a hard-to-find and impossible-to-buy metal, but Ragnarson managed to find the metal in one of his adventures. Without a doubt a very beautiful sword but it killed thousands of soldiers and creatures. Ragnarson's faithful companion over the years.
Einar approaches Ragnarson cautiously and is frightened by his murderous intent of him and says:
Preparations are already made… the soldiers are just waiting for your order now - Ragnarson turns slowly to Einar and says:
Okay… let's get on with it right away… After we discuss with the opposing general…
Do you think he will come? Even with all this advantage?
Absolutely… They're still underestimating us…
The person in charge of guarding the west flank also approaches Ragnarson. He has no high status or wealth. He reached the position of vice captain through longevity and a lot of luck. Being in several wars and surviving to tell your stories is a matter of luck too and with Eriksen, Ragnarson's vice captain, it was like that for most of his life, but make no mistake, that doesn't mean he's incompetent. Eriksen has shown enormous practicality in battles over the years, both in pre- and during battle strategy formation, denoting a certain ease in reading the situations in question to execute your next move. Without a shadow of a doubt a peculiar warrior who can change the course of the battle in the course of it and invaluable to Ragnarson. Since it was the same one who warned Ragnarson about the existence of an ancient castle in the region. The vice captain is next to Ragnarson and both are looking to the horizon watching the enemy troops move. And after a brief pause, Eriksen says:
My lord… The preparations are all ready… And the special request you made too but…
What was it ? That is a very important part of the plan...
I don't know, my lord… But I think it may fail or not have the effect we want.
It will work ?
Yes, Vai… - Ragnarson senses the lack of confidence in his commando's voice and immediately turns to him and puts a hand on his shoulders firmly and warmly, intending to provide pre-battle moral support, saying:
That's enough for the vice-captain... Good job.
Eriksen nods his head showing positivity and he looks at Einar and he repeats the gesture and takes a deep breath, appearing to be nervous but that he knows that fate is inevitable. There will be fights. There will be wars. And mostly… deaths. Every warrior has to be prepared for this, many are born already destined for this. A military career can start for a teenager at age fifteen. With hard training that makes many give up and even vomit blood. Anyone who wants to be part of the army of giants has to face it, but in the eyes of many it is worth it for the glory that can be achieved. What is commonly called the Eternal Radiance. Its meaning comes from the myth that giants have that the more they battle the closer they get to it. A dream of every warrior… to be recognized and have his name engraved in history.

Ragnarson sees soldiers on horseback approaching the edge of the castle with a white flag held out to one of them. A clear attempt at diplomacy. A mini troop formed by five men approaches the castle and the leader among them says to Ragnarson:
I'm here on behalf of General Olaf…
Hmm…
Our benevolent general proposes the total surrender of his General Ragnarson and his troops immediately, and consequently, he will be kind and spare their lives.
I don't believe in his words, boot licks… his mouth doesn't come out true… And we won't reach a consensus…
But…
You can tell your general that he has already lost this war... His fate has already been sealed and he will know it at our meeting.
The men who are there proposing diplomacy are incredulous with the speech of Ragnarson that even surrounded and in a smaller number, he still has a high ego and believes in his victory. They start to think he's either a genius or very dumb. The general's proposal was very good since there are no more deaths or casualties. But Ragnarson and the general know that such a peace deal was just a trap for the giant soldiers to hear and become apprehensive or revolt against their general. The bait has been cast and now we just have to wait. The surtr soldiers turn and walk away, while Ragnarson watches them with both hands on the hilt of his sword and smiling faintly.
Ragnarson walks towards his soldiers and everyone stops what they are doing to look at their general. Dead silence is in the air. He passes between the men and looks each one in the eye. With a few he makes a waving gesture. He walks until he passes by all the soldiers who were there and climbs up on a kind of platform that was used in the past for religious preaching their words to the laity. Ragnarson puffs out his chest and begins the speech:
"Do you think it's the end? It really is the end. It's the end and it will be our victory. I know we will triumph. This summer I grew great grapes already thinking about picking them after the war and drinking great wines. And I know I will. And I invite you too. The word defeat doesn't exist in my vocabulary, much less today. Glory is eternal my companions. MOVE FORWARD!"
The warriors have their hearts touched, enough to ignite them for yet another battle. A question that remains to this day is whether the soldiers were ecstatic over the fact that Ragnarson served them wine or their certainty that he will triumph? In fact, it was both. The charisma and confidence of one of the greatest giant warriors of the time won many people and soldiers, few opposed ragnarson and his reputation and respect grew even more. Being recognized by even Odin. Eriksen's responsible West Flank Soldiers raise their swords and shout:
Eternal life to General Ragnarson! - This causes a general commotion and the cry starts to emanate from the north also which is the responsible sector of Einar.
Eternal life to General Ragnarson! - And it doesn't take long for the East sector of Ragnarson to start too and scream even louder.
Eternal life to General Ragnarson! - And now the three sectors sing loudly and together:
Eternal life to General Ragnarson!
Ragnarson is clearly satisfied with the situation and is wearing a rare smile from ear to ear. The man who is branded as a Sadist doesn't smile very often but quite the opposite. Ragnarson, who had assumed a 20% chance of victory, is now looking forward to his expectations rising to 30%. For all his confidence, Ragnarson knew the odds weren't in his favor and that he'd staked everything on that strategy with the castle. The general was prepared for this to be his last battle. Perhaps the hardest battle so far, because the chances of defeat are high. With no time to think about numerology and hypotheses, Ragnarson begins his onslaught. With first ordering your soldiers.
All right soldiers… All in their positions…
Yes sir!
West Flank! Bows, traps, squires and spearmen!
Positive! Sir! awaiting orders
North Flank! In your position! Flames, Oil, Swordsmen...
All right, sir!
East Flank! Warriors, water and grenades…
Positive and awaiting orders!
Right… Let's get rid of these bitches!
Ragnarson says this, pointing his LionBite sword towards the enemy army and screams from all over start to come. He then runs towards his position on the east flank. As planned before, each flank will use a different strategy. This was formed in accordance with the needs of each flank and the presumption of what was to come. The power to repel the surtr army was balanced and in perfect harmony for the time being. The objective was to prevent enemy soldiers from entering the castle at all costs. This would have to be avoided even if it cost them their lives.
The great battle begins, and as expected the Fire Kingdom army attacks the castle from the three possible flanks. A fierce battle intensifies. Ragnarson's three flanks focus on delaying the rival army as much as possible. Through fire arrows, spears and other long-range weapons. Ragnarson's army at a disadvantage, as defending and outnumbering becomes a suicidal strategy, as if waiting for the inevitable… Total annihilation. But Ragnarson's men decided to believe him and his plan, however complex and unreasonable. And make no mistake. Every soldier in Ragnarson is there for being extremely good at what he does, which is war. The giants have a very strong military culture, with strong training and from an early age in their military academies.
On the three flanks there are archers and they shoot arrows with fire to facilitate penetration and further hurt the surtrs, when the arrows are released the spearmen throw their spears while the archers reload their bows, and so on. Surtrs on the way to the castle are dying, arrows in their heads, spears in their hearts. Blood and brutality everywhere for that first enemy wave. Enemies fall and their horses fall too. The giants have managed to repel the enemy army with a certain tranquility so far and this causes strangeness in Ragnarson. The general looks at the battlefield and his pupils immediately dilate. He was able to observe that the surtrs did not try to invade the castle through ropes, ladders or other devices. Perhaps an attempt to see what the giants' strategy was or our weaknesses. Ragnarson starts talking to the soldier who was next to him:
There's something wrong… they aren't investing to invade for now. Are we trying to see our weaknesses?
I don't know, my lord!
Motherfucker!
Ragnarson starts running towards the reserve army, which aims to replace the wounded and dead in the process and shouts:
Split up and protect the flanks. All of you!!!
The reserve soldiers without even blinking split into three and move to the flanks. Ragnarson believes the surtrs may have a card up their sleeves for making this move. The giant general believes this move is both a trap and a distraction. Some ruse will be used to invade the castle today. Far short of Ragnarson's expectations and plan. Such an abrupt attempt to invade on the first day was not expected. Plans for now would have to be improvised and action taken. The vice captains also realized that something was wrong and also prepared for an eventual onslaught. The spearmen and archers were still successfully repelling the surtr soldiers. Until a break happens and enemies stop coming.
A new wave of surtrs comes. This time they had shields and a ram-like structure. Arrows and spears became ineffective. It was time for traps and swordsmen to spring into action. Ragnarson sees the enemy approaching and already shouts his deputy captain responsible for the northern sector:
Einar!!! The traps!!!
Alright Sir!!
Deputy Captain Einar orders his men to first throw a kind of oil already prepared for this situation on the enemies attacking the north. The soldiers obey Einar and start throwing jars and throwing oil from above at their enemies. Some soldiers even slip and then there's a surprise. Einar picks up a torch and throws it on the ground where they were there and everyone starts to burn. Screams of pain start to evade the enemies and some there even run aimlessly due to high combustion.
The oil in question was not just any one. It was highly flammable and durable, being difficult to extinguish, meaning a lethal weapon. Unfortunately the giants don't have enough stock for all the war to come. So it was decided that it would be used in the north, where the gate is, to prevent soldiers there from using any ram or protection.
A castle gate is the key point of any battle. Once knocked down there is no longer any way to defend yourself and the advantage becomes totally that of the invader. Watching enemy soldiers burn. Einar left for the next part of the castle's defense plan. He then shouted to his men:
Squad One! NOW!!!
The soldiers already knew exactly what to do now. A group of at least 30 men appear and begin to pick up ropes in order to descend the castle. It was the exact moment as the surtr soldiers were on fire or not focused. The squad is made up of approximately twenty men who start using the ropes to descend the castle and attack the enemies that were there. Very skilled in the art of the sword. They killed several surtrs that were down there at the gate that weren't hit by the fire. A unilateral annihilation of squad one takes place. Heads cut off, arms mutilated, cuts and stabbings in the chest, little by little Squadron One was painted so brutally red.
With most of the enemies there dead, they had to disable the ram that was there, but just as they were about to happen another wave of enemies came. And this time it was much bigger than the one before. Einar shouted from above to his squad:
IN YOUR POSITIONS, MEN!!!
Squad Two… Support Squadron One!
Squadron one begins to group together and form a sort of joint protection with their shields, and meanwhile Squadron Two, formed by another twenty men, also descends through the ropes. Every man down there knew of his vital importance to the plan. Prepared to die if necessary. Squad Two begin to sabotage the ram that was there, incapacitating it and join Squadron One's shield wall and Einar yells:
SQUAD ONE AND TWO… KILL AS MUCH AS YOU CAN AND BACK IMMEDIATELY - both squads listen to Einar and shout together:
YES SIR!
The battle in the northern sector intensifies even more with the coming of the second squad, but new waves of enemies come and make the battle down there in the northern sector even bloodier. The giants still have a slight advantage. The shield wall is still intact and is very difficult to take down. The front men hold the enemies and shout:
PUSH THEM - And with that the enemies are pushed back and the formation opens up and in this space of time the sword and spear attacks of the giants are launched. Cuts, deaths and of course, a lot of blood appears. And Einar's men shout fiercely:
YAAAAAAAAH!
A new wave appears again and this time with another ram. Einar sees the approach and the situation complicated, because there could be deaths of squad members with new waves. Einar then shouts:
THIS IS BECOMING DANGEROUS! COME BACK MEN!
The squads hear their vice captain's orders and begin walking backwards towards the gate for them to drop the ropes to return. But with the ram coming and still more men, the squads are still funneled there. Einar in an act of desperation screams:
SQUADRON THREE WITH ME! WE'LL JUMP!
In an act of heroism. Einar calls his best squad of men to rescue those who are funneled and surrounded. Aid has an immediate effect in battle. The Einar carries two axes in his hands. His battle style is based on attack speed and not strength. His two axes are light. Making him move fast for vital attacks. Einar and his squad of twenty men manage to repel the new waves and with that he orders them to climb the ropes back up. Einar sees that he has to destroy the ram to come. Any attempt to enter the castle must be immediately neutralized. He shouts to his men:
CHANGE OF PLANS! LET'S DESTROY THAT WARM AND THEN WE'RE BACK.
An even bigger battering ram is to come and Ragnarson, watching from afar, notices that the situation has complicated there on that flank. The same understands the act of Einar even running away from the plans. Very dangerous because the death of a deputy captain is critical in the execution of present and future battle plans. Ragnarson at that moment didn't know what to do but be worried. He can't think accurately and it's not impossible to focus on the other side but his, as enemies keep coming on his flank as well. Improvising is never good, but maybe Ragnarson would have to improvise even more.
Einar and his three squads form a nearly inviolable shield wall, so far only a few men have been wounded but no casualties yet. The superiority of the giant army becomes clear. But this raises even more concerns for Einar and Ragnarson, because they are hiding or leaving their best fighters for later. They both know that a major fatal enemy attack is coming and the use of the reserve army had to be used sooner than expected. Einar prepares for the coming of the ram and more Enemies to come saying:
THE DESTRUCTION OF THIS HARM IS FUNDAMENTAL. SHIELD WALLS AND LANCERS GET READY!
The battle gets even more intense. Blood gushes from everywhere with the exchange of swords but there are too many men to repel and with that the three squads cannot focus on the sabotage of the ram and see it getting closer and closer. Einar sees no options and the ram to come could be used to break down the shield wall and without it men would die. Despair seizes Einar's heart but from far away he hears a voice:
EINAAAAAAR… CATCH IT!
Einar looks up and sees a bag flying towards him and he takes it in one of his hands and immediately opens it to see what's inside. There are several black spheres and a red stone inside. Einar knew right away that it was a bag of explosives and that it could save him and his men, but they both knew that those bombs would be used in an emergency, that it would be for the enemy to break through the gates and enter the castle.
The situation is too complicated for the giant army on day one in every way possible. First, the reserve army was used, emergency resources ditto, and now the imminent death of three squadrons and the vice captain. The Three Pillars of War Eriksen, Einar, and Ragnarson knew that their plans would never come to pass. It worked on the hypothesis of each event and its response.
Einar takes the lead and begins a ferocious attack on the surtrs who are there in order to make room for the use of the spheres Ragnarson had given him. The fierce attack was commanded by him and followed by his faithful soldiers who didn't need any explanation to understand the situation. Only the exchange of looks between them was enough to understand what they should do. The three squads went according to flow and further increased the attack on the enemies, spending even more their energies for this counterattack. Everyone there knew that this could be dangerous but went "all-in" without thinking twice .
Surtr soldiers fall around the squads and the space and opportunity they were needing comes to the fore. Einar had already distributed certain black spheres to his frontline companions behind the shield men. And Einar shouts:
THROW THE BALLS NOW!
The soldiers listen to Einar's orders and start throwing the spheres at the enemies that were coming. Black spheres are basically bombs with a very high blast radius for their small size. Inside it has a kind of gunpowder that is activated when thrown that causes this devastating explosion. Specially crafted by the best Dwarf Smiths in the realms. Ragnarson's good relationship with them made him obtain some useful items for his use, including as told to LionBite. The red stone that was in the bag is under Einar's responsibility, who will throw it at the right moment. If the black spheres make a big explosion… Imagine the red object in Einar's hands. He didn't know what its effect was, but he assumed it would be devastating. If Ragnarson gave it to him, it was for Einar to escape alive and still damage the Fire Realm army.
The black spheres start to explode the enemy, legs and other members of the soldiers start to fly. The three squadrons that were down there are no longer on the defensive and go on the offensive on the northern flank. A total turn of tables. Due to the explosions, the enemy retreats back to the nearby Ram. Basically all the men retreated there since this ram was bigger than the previous one and even stronger. They were able to reorganize and attack again. In this space of time Einar starts to laugh and look towards Ragnarson giving a smile, he realized that the red object was for that moment.
Einar throws the red object near the ram and the enemies that were there. The red object splits into several fragments and has no immediate effect. Making the soldiers there even laugh at the situation. But the small fragments that spread began to explode, unlike the black spheres, but the beam was even bigger than the black spheres and still destroyed the mighty ram that was to come as well as killing the men who were once laughing and are now dead. Einar seeing his goal completed shouts:
PREPARE FOR WITHDRAWAL! EVERYONE GO BACK TO THE CASTLE!
Einar's soldiers regroup and start walking backwards towards the castle. All together as there were some enemies coming. The northern flank had a great victory in this battle, they managed to destroy and hold the enemies and still destroy two rams that were coming to bring down the gate. But it's not all flowers… Einar sees a new wave of enemies coming and this time they were on horseback and with strong men as they were carrying heavy weapons, and several men who were attacking the east and west flank joined them. Einar finds himself completely cornered again, as he won't have time to evacuate everyone. And he tells his men:
Climb the ropes as fast as possible! Let's delay the enemy's arrival!
The battle to come will be even more difficult. The squads have given it their all, consequently more tired and the enemy is even more outnumbered. The enemy arrives overwhelmingly, pushing back the shield wall. Einar does not want a total annihilation of his men and decides:
Go away! Squad three and I are going to hold them here for you to get out!
But sir…
Go now! There is no time for sorrow!
At this point the men begin to retreat and only squad three remain there to hold back the enemy's momentum. Einar smiles and knows this could be his last living moment. He joins the shield wall and coordinates the biggest attacks he's had so far in the war. Squad three still manages to kill some enemies there but the shield wall is finally broken with the coming of the enemy horses. Reorganization is impossible now. And now they are separate and each for himself. A total mess.
Einar fights intensely and kills several, but ends up being wounded with a cut that starts in his shoulder and goes all the way to his belly. He drops to his knees on the ground, and before he can be executed by the surtr. A member of the squad kills the soldier who was about to put an end to Einar. This same soldier puts Einar on his shoulders and tries to bring him closer to the castle, while another soldier in the squad sees the situation and clears the way to get Einar as close to the castle as possible.
Einar is unconscious while carrying him. He apparently has a serious wound depending on how deep the enemy sword was cut. The two warriors kill those who appear in front of them and approach the castle. Einar manages to regain consciousness a little and to stand without help from his companions. He raises his head and tries to take the sword the soldier gives him but he can't.
The cut that starts at the shoulder and goes down to the belly makes him unable to hold the sword without feeling enormous pain. He puts the sword in his left hand, which he apparently can still wield. While they are recovering, new wounded and broken comrades try to make a lasting organization for a new front of enemies that have surrounded them and Einar's companions step in front of them and one of them says:
Lord… Win this war for us!
What ?
Ah…
Einar is clearly bereft at the complete annihilation of his squad and even a tear falls from his face, but he knows there is no time for lamentation and soon he tries to get up with Ragnarson's help. He looks at the entire war scene from above, sees that the surtrs are still retreating and that on this first day they failed to break into the castle, but many men died on the first day. Einar speaks to Ragnarson:
My lord…
Go rest and see this wound. Later, we talked about strategy.
Ragnarson sees that night is approaching and is already thinking about the next day's battle. He looks very tired himself, wanting to lie down or immediately sit down, but instead he goes towards where the soldiers are recovering and eating. A wakeful mood is in the air. Even successfully repelling the surtrs on this first day successfully. They know there will be more days like this to come and the worst is to come. At this moment Ragnarson knows he can't collapse right there if he wants to. He stands firm and speaks to his men:
"Men… Today the battle was tough and you know that today is only the first day… There were many casualties but I still believe in our victory. Let's remain confident and be able to move forward. We repelled the enemy masterfully today but I'll be honest… Tomorrow the enemy will come even stronger and more likely with his trump card in hand. I don't know what it is, but I trust you with my life and that we'll be able to overcome it together. Now rest and take care of your wounds."
Even with the speech, the silence remained there for most soldiers. They still believe in Ragnarson and apparently the moral is still intact between them. The battle of that first day was very fierce. The enemy released a large wave of soldiers that basically allowed the giant army to only defend itself for most of the day. The attempted takeover from the north through the gate was thwarted but at the cost of several wounded and an entire squadron annihilated. Ragnarson takes a deep breath and puts his hand to his head regretfully. He then walks over to the vice captains and calls them to an immediate 30-minute meeting in their quarters.
Ragnarson gives the warning and goes towards his room where there is a very large table in the middle with several pieces similar to a board and the drawing of the castle where they are. He kicks one of the chairs in anger and braces both arms on the table and looks deeply at the drawing of the castle. Ragnarson comes out of his room and calls out Moses' name. And suddenly an elderly man, apparently in his forties, comes towards him. He didn't have any warrior robes, but he wore a long black cloak. He was none other than Ragnarson's trusted spy. He approaches the general, nods and says:
My lord...
Let's go between... - Both enter the room and walk towards the table and Ragnarson says:
So… What did you get out of information this time?
The situation is not good, my lord...
Say what you saw Moses!
Right… The surtrs seem to feel that it would not be easy to enter the castle and requested more reinforcements and some machine to break down the castle gates…
And when do they arrive?
I'm afraid they've arrived sir...
Ragnarson starts to have another tantrum and hurls another chair to the floor. What was already complicated before gets even worse. He realized that the enemy army probably wants to take the castle and defeat them all in one attack. And more than half of the traps and gimmicks have already been used on the first day. King Lumnus trusted ragnarson and gave him the freedom to strategize and move according to need and will. But the same on Ragnarson's part, he trusted him that this move would be ideal and that it would work to the point where his sacrifice would be victory in a general context. Ragnarson didn't quite understand what the king meant but decided to trust him too. The general looks at Moses and asks:
What machines do they have?
They have large mobile structures like towers… the rams apparently still have some left over, but the problem is the catapults.
How many structures are there?
Five, my lord...
These structures… They are for entering the castle clearly… Do many soldiers fit inside?
yes, my lord!
Fuck!
Moses takes a paper from his belt and hands it to Ragnarson who opens it and looks at the contents there. It was the design of the enemy's camp. It clearly showed where each squadron was allocated, such as specialist warriors, archers, brute strength and others in the shape of a square. As well as the design of the equipment they might use. It is visible in the drawing that the camp with the smallest square is the one focused on today's attack. Basically all soldiers in that sector were used. Second, the spy consisted of newly formed soldiers without strong equipment, experience, or strength. Both arrive that tomorrow will be the day they attack with full force. Using the machines and your best soldiers.
The biggest problem will be the specialists who are soldiers well versed in combat, in addition to being the biggest square in Moses' drawing. Ragnarson's room is silent for a moment. Until someone knocks on the door. Ragnarson asks Moses to withdraw through the back and he nods his head in obedience.
Ragnarson opens the door and sees his two vice captains enter the room. He is concerned primarily with Einar, who sits by the table, while the others stand and ask:
How is the wound?
I won't be able to hold anything with this right arm...
your dominant arm einar...
yes, but we have to win this war anyway. For the kingdom, king and its inhabitants.
Alright… let's move on...
Ragnarson passes on the information that was given by his spy to them who are crestfallen at such a disadvantage. Another silence in the room remains for a moment. Until Ragnarson says:
The king said that this battle of ours was essential for victory in this war... There will be no reinforcements as they are having their own difficulties... I am waiting for more information.
Right… But what do we do now ?- The downside still remains…
Tomorrow they will use these towers to enter the castle. They will invest everything in one attack
What will the plan be then?
Let's repel them… All.
Einar and Eriksen are shocked at how simple Ragnarson says this for a moment, but they understand that his sentence is short but it goes far beyond its meaning. The second day is going to be even bloodier and the determination should be even more flexible. Ragnarson gives a sarcastic smile and says:
You didn't think this would be a strategy, right?
Of course not, my lord!
hahahaha I have a plan to once again stop the enemies from entering the castle on this second day. - The three give a slight smile and begin to listen to Ragnarson's plan.

Dark things work in daylight with impunity, once common knowledge is a mystery and even the nature of magic that humans use has changed. Verdan has the chance to start over, to devote himself to his research and leave the world to carry on as it will. All he has to do is forget his Oath as a Wizard, to let the final piece of the empire die.

The World is two sided. On one side we see fairness, truth, goodness and the compassion of the Gods. On the other side, we see deceit, corruption, and the uncaring nature of the powerful. Our Main character seeks truth and in that journey, for truth, he sees the world for what it truly is and rebels against it. join him on a journey of truth, revenge, and immortality! I encourage everyone to leave comments and reviews. It will help me in developing and refining the story. The number of words vary between each chaper. Jason Delacroix is many things. A sarcastic bastard. A gambler(who might be just a little TOO good, if you catch the meaning). But mostly, he was an anime freak, with traces of chuunibyou(. He spent his days simply, watching huge amounts of anime by day, gambling to pay for his habits by night. This was his routine, until one night something claiming to be a god wrenched him from his world...*warning(because apparently the mature tag just isn't enough)* This story will contain violent, sometimes graphic scenes. people will be eaten. you've been warned
