《Virtual reality: Sorp》Chapter twenty six: Reflection.

There are not many advanced medicine people in Perpetuity. That is, not many advanced concoction masters.
These are treasured. Currently there are two in Perpetuity, and three stationed at the first wave reinforcement camp. That is all.
Sorp is walking within a day of his injuries and so are the other two trainers. This is because all the camps have concoctions made by advanced concoction masters.
These concoction are not as esoteric as they might sound, not as enigmatic. The concoction enriches the blood. The blood induces bone repair.
This method tricks the body to use excess nutrients. This makes the blood even richer
All in all it leaves the patient feeling weak. It is similar to a hangover, excluding the headaches. To recover Sorp ate enough to swell his stomach.
This was the first time Sorp felt as weak, only time that compared remotely was during a bout of sickness. Despite this weakness Sorp attempted to return to his routine training.
This did not go well. Sorp was breathing heavily before afternoon arrived. In an uncharacterised way, Sorp gave up and went to social hotspot to relax instead.
In the camp were tens of locations meant for leisure, almost a small village. At night this little village had a whole different atmosphere to it.
Right now it was only a couple of hours passed noon so there were few people actually relaxing.
Sorp roamed about, this was the first time he took the time to relax. He liked it.
The only purpose Sorp has for today is to waste time. To some it is a sin to waste time away. These are the people obsessed with the past.
On the other end are people looking to the future, in their eyes time is meant to be squandered away.
Sorp is somewhere in the middle. Living for the moment, there is not squandering or seizing every moment. It’s just to follow his own will.
He might put it in these words but this who Sorp is. Very straightforward in his thinking. It might not be agreeable way of thinking but it is always straight forward.
One of the faults of being as observant as Sorp is, is the endless assault of information. Every movement, shades of colors, state of clothing and endless different expressions.
This is another reason why Sorp acts the way he acts, giving it too much thought can cause a spiral. A vortex that sucks in more and more factors that influence a decision.
To cope with this, Sorp has to act rather than to think. This is painting it rather black and white, with age his range increases.
It is because he acts in this way that he is so animalistic, it’s why his resting face is a smiling one. He’s happy, so he smiles.
This has caused one too many altercations. It’s also why reason for his moral deficit. Because it isn’t personal, it’s just reactionary.
Right now Sorp isn’t smiling. His weakened state has made him unhappy. His frown is deep. Given his stature, this makes him very intimidating.

“Can I help you in anyway? Want to order some food or maybe a drink?”
Having sat down in an open area, a servant has arrived. The area serves as a restaurant during the day and a bar with a large dance floor at evenings.
“This. This. This.”
“Anything else?”
“This. And this.”
Sorp had eaten recently but still ordered four full meals and a bottle of what is called a fettered wine. It eludes to the high alcohol percentage.
“Is that all?”
“That’s all.”
Sorp wasn’t only frowning, his voice also shifted with his mood. Every word carried a feeling of frustration.
The bottle was served within a minute and Sorp sat there taking great swigs. His mood didn’t turn for the better.
This feeling of lasting weakness and helplessness has delivered Sorp outside of his comfort zone. Processing this all has left him introspective.
Occasionally Sorp will shake his head as if tossing something aside. This is him trying to work out his thoughts.
When the first dish is delivered, Sorp’s frown grows deeper.
“Wait.”
“What is it sir?”
“This is too small.”
The meal isn’t at all small, Sorp’s portions are too large. Unlike the buffey where Sorp loads his dish to a small mountain, the restaurant serve human sized portions.
“Sorry?”
“Bring more.”
“Your other dishes are on the way, they’ll be here momentarily.”
Sorp shakes his head and begins eating. He felt the man to be an idiot. He couldn’t help but miss Kom and Dart, they usually deal with these people.
I can be said that Sorp is somewhat socially inept. Not in an awkward way but in that he speaks very honestly and with purpose or not at all.
Usually his smile, handsome features and tall stature makes these things a non issue. But with him being frustrated and acting in a way that can be considered rude.
This might cause issues, and if they decide to confront Sorp in some way, Sorp might actually just kill them as a solution.
It is unlikely someone would try and engage further with Sorp. Not only is he a customer, his intimidating presence is enough of a deterrent.
The meals came one by one. Sorp still felt there wasn’t enough. At this point, Sorp was already full. He forced himself to eat.
Perhaps because he was unsatisfied, maybe he felt a hunger. Maybe it was because he still felt weak, only knowing to eat to make himself strong.
Whatever the case was, Sorp’s belly was bulging, his eyes glazing over and his breathing heavy. Sorp still felt weak, but now he felt heavy.
Weak and heavy Sorp stumbled around the village. There were numerous games to play, physical and virtual.
Many seats that looked like they’d be used for playing computers. There are no computers however, as they can all be summoned on a whim.
Sorp just kept walking. It had been a long time since he felt this kind of loneliness. In the forest he had a purpose, or at the ability do what he liked.

Right now he was wandering aimlessly. He is feeling what people refer to an emptiness. He knew what he wanted, but he has no way to obtain it. Only time can.
This is as dramatic as one can be. Only one or two fleeting days of recuperation has polarized Sorp’s personality. His usual charm diminished.
If this were Dart, he would just study til his physical problems went away. Sorp did not do this. Not without an entire day of drudgery.
Second day of recuperation Sorp resorted to learn about the miscellaneous crafting professions. Many of them are connected, especially any that end up creating B.F.M.’s
The process of B.F.M. creation is similar to creating a weapon from a mold. At least the static ones.
It is the underlying materials that change within each profession. A woodworker compared to a metalsmith or leatherworker.
A woodworker will have to harvest or at least procure certain types of specific wood they are familiar with to create a product.
If there is not material for sale, they’ll need the know how to find the material, harvest it while retaining it’s quality. And ultimately processes to a workable level.
This can also be seen with a metalsmith. They’ll need to know to identify locations with certain minerals and extract it.
Extracting minerals is often considered a rather casual affair. Meaning people don’t expect it to require any finesse.
This is untrue, the method to extract it require brute strength and so people with brute strength extract them. These types of people are often not very elegant.
This results in a perpetuated culture of lackluster harvesting. It is still possible to lower the quality of a metal ore by harvesting it haphazardly.
Static B.F.M.’s are usually created by making a prop weapon first. This weapon doesn’t need to be effective and can be made from any material.
These prop weapons or tools are used to influence the mind of the B.F.M. creator. So he can picture what to create once the moment arrives.
B.F.M.’s are created from an rare material. A type of metal. This metal is considered to be living by some. But that is a different argument
This metal can act like a hard metal one second and a flowing liquid the next. If that was it, it would be useless.
It’s merit comes from its relationship to the B.F.M. It can be made to receive commands. They respond to it and this response can be amplified.
The first time the material is activated and molded into a form, it will be the form it remembers. It remembers it when it is provoked.
To understand this, one can take Sorp’s B.F.M. spear. If Sorp is in direct contact with the amplifier, the small handle, he can easily provoke it to take form.
This is one of the simplest ways to use the B.F.M. inductors. It is also the only material Perpetuity has in great quantity.
There are other materials that respond to B.F.M. This is still a virtual world and Perpetual Power has designed it to be this way, what is being explained is Perpetuity lore.
Later weapons with Augmentations can be introduced. These weapons have a more complicated, a more delicate crafting process.
In many cases, the simpler static B.F.M.’s are the base product that is later worked further to produce both Augmentations or other features. This makes them non-static.
One of the main things Perpetual Power tries to accomplish is a seamless world. People do accept quite a bit of the nonsensical, but they still strive for greatness.
They seek a world so vast that even in a thousand years, there will still be places to explore, still be new heights to reach.
One of the pieces in the puzzle is the B.F.M. It can be said to be the cornerstone of progression.
While people can better themselves, as this is a virtual world and there is a need for a curve of difficulty, the real sense of progression will be through B.F.M. items.
Right now they are simple, but later they will be everything. To the extent that it will be possible to cast physical attributes aside and depend on B.F.M.
How the lore continues to explain this events is maybe not foolproof but it does make a great attempt.
It boils down to materials. A B.F.M requires a medium to work. The medium can change dramatically but its purpose is always the same.
These materials, according to Perpetuity’s lore, are usually found in their expanded form. They are later compressed by multiple factors.
It is the Brute Force Method that utilizes this kind of material, they make it expand into its remember form.
These materials are sometimes given the prefix of smart or intelligent. Because they can remember multiple forms.
Augmentations is a variant of these materials, they synergize with it and can in a way import a new memory to the material. This can add speed, strength or change its form.
How this is explained in lore is not exactly exact, not for the moment. Perpetual Power had to fabricate a branch of science that is entirely theoretical.
It is theoretical, because the B.F.M. does not exit the boundaries of virtual reality. Perpetual Power would say. It hasn´t breach the barrier, yet.
It is their belief that with enough training, sustained exposure and a talented enough person, they will see real life application.
As for what materials required to test it, it has been proposed that air would be the first catalyst, at least to see any observable reaction.
