《Allister Hale's Story Graveyard.》Dungeon Story 1/3

I found myself in a small room. Eight feet wide by eight feet deep and eight feet tall. There were no doorways or windows in this room just plain smooth walls. Time for introductions, I am… Someone with amnesia! Big surprise right? It gets better though, I do have some memories.

First of all I know things. I couldn’t tell you what exactly but, I know words like cliche, trope, Lightnovel and other things like that. I know there is more but I couldn’t tell you the extent of that more. Think of it like an old childhood memory. If I take the time to think about it, and if i have a reason to think about it, I can remember that girl I had designated my childhood friend/future girlfriend when I was five. If things had gone differently and we had both stayed in that school… Wait what? Why is that one of my precious childhood memories… I’m a good person, right?

Second, I have a certain way of thinking. I know that I make my choices based on past experience, even if I can’t remember that past. It shapes my views, colors my actions, and frames my understanding of the world.

Between these two factors I can safely say I am in some kind of fantasy world with a game like system… or I’m just crazy and this panel in front of me isn’t real. To be honest my vote is on crazy. Even if I am crazy I think I need to act rationally therefore, I have chosen to act as though all of this is perfectly real. Why you ask? If I’m delusional and I need help then the best way to get that help is to make it clear to those around me that I am delusional.

Right then. First it seems I have multiple names. The menu will let me select, Lucas, William, Dirk, Garret and, Sarah. For the record I appear to be I guy and I remember being a guy. Changing my name… does nothing. Even if I select Sarah as my name I am only a boy named sue. As for race, I can be Dungeon Mind and Dungeon Lord [Human]. Right now I have Mind selected because having a body seems troublesome right now. I still have a body, a small six foot pillar, but as a dungeon mind I can float around the room freely. As for Class I can select Commoner and Student.

Now I think we can agree that the rest of this panel looks all wrong. First is BP or Barrier Points. I don’t know how I know this as I know it doesn’t come from my memories, but creatures with a soul like myself project a barrier around them which protects their bodies from harm. Once this barrier is broken the creature is subject to any normal injuries. EF stands for Energy Field. Creatures that can use magic project an field of energy around them which stores the energy available to them for spells and magical skills.

Next comes Aura. This is a special Racial trait. It seems dungeons can project an aura which is used to sustain the dungeon and its creatures. Command is another Racial trait. It seems to be my ability to summon dungeon creatures. In other words I can summon up to one Command point of creatures. By the way, in my human form these racial traits are replaced by Hunger and Fatigue. Oh, the numbers are laid out like [used/maximum]

Skill Set [10/10]

Chose from all learned skills to enable use as Commoner

Increased EXP[9]

[Student 2/10] Increases Earned EXP [Base Cost 3SP]

Calculation [1]

[Student 1/20] Accelerates Calculation of figures [Base cost 1SP]

The general Classes like Slave, Serf, Commoner, Noble, and Lord all have the Skill Set skill. The only difference between the general classes are the special classes available to the individual. If a person’s general class changes they keep access to all of their unlocked classes even if their new general class wouldn’t normally allow them to select that class. This is how I can use the student class despite the fact that it isn’t available to Commoners. Not that I remember being anything other than a commoner.

Generate Room

I decided to extend my Aura to the room I am in. I feel like an idiot for saying this, but I feel like I have been in this room for hours doing nothing, and yet I’m only just now getting around to extending my Aura into this room.

Entering Level 1 Mana Field

Okay, so that happened. I pulled back my aura and received another notice telling me that I left the Mana Field. For some reason I had the idea something good might happen if I repeated this for a while. The result was I gave up before something happened. I decided to leave the aura deployed and decided to switch to my student class thinking I might be able to improve my skill levels for the future. When I opened my status panel, by the way that is what i'm calling that first panel I showed you, I looked at it and noticed the Summoning option was available

Slime

A soulless creature composed of Condensed Mana. Takes the form of a blob the size of a golf ball. Capable of Growth CP1 Requires level 1 Mana Field

Spirit

(Lesser Puppeteer)

A harmless soulless spirit that can posses dead bodies. Capable of learning. Can be granted Knowledge and skills. CP1 Requires level 1 Mana Field

Flesh golem (Human)

A soulless creature that is a perfect physical copy of a human. Incapable of learning, can be bestowed skills. CP 200 Requires level 30 Mana Field (Advanced knowledge of the Human body reduces this to CP 100 and Level 1 Mana Field)

Note

Further information is required to summon additional creatures.

Common Frog

An everyday frog the approximately the size of a golf ball (~90%)

Nurse Shark

A common Nurse Shark (~80%)

Cricket

A common Cricket (~98%)

.

So I could summon two fantasy creatures and I could almost summon a small collection of animals you might dissect in high school. I felt like the slime would be boring in a way. That left me with one choice. I began to summon the Puppeteer Spirit and a Circle with a writing from a runic script surrounding it appeared on the ground in front of me.

Summoning Spirit (Lesser Puppeteer) Time remaining 1:00

One hour. Without anything better to do I focus on the summoning process. If I pay attention I can feel myself going through the process of summoning the creature. It might be different for other creatures but I am actually shaping energy into the sprits body rather than drawing a creature in from somewhere else. Once the process is finished I could sense a blob of energy in the center of the circle which then disappeared. I shall call it Pinocchio.

Right, it had one skill. Puppet. Affinities seems to refer to its ability to control different kinds of bodies and it seems I can use its Absorb ability to Absorb it into myself. Now I have nothing to do again. Pinocchio seems content to float there and I don't think it is safe to leave the dungeon. Some amount of time passes and I decide that I need to do something. Let’s try to summon a cricket. I think I can do it. My knowledge of summoning crickets feels like my knowledge of summoning a human flesh golem. The main difference is that I don’t know how to create a Mana construct to act as its mind. I focus my mind and power. After what felt like a full day the fake summoning is complete and a dead looking Cricket appears. Now Pinocchio is moving. It looks like Pinocchio has possessed the cricket. Despite this nothing happens. Hours later Pinocchio is still in the cricket doing nothing. Wait. I think Pinocchio has figured out how to move it, before long the cricket body stops and Pinocchio floats out of the body. I examine the cricket.

Cricket (dead) (desicated) This cricket has died due to lack of water (This information was obtained through a dungeon creature)

As you can tell the autopsy report indicates the cricket died of natural causes. The cricket body is too dry to function so Pinocchio left it behind Rest in Peace unborn Cricket

It looks like Pinocchio has grown from its cricket adventure. It seems to have gained Affinity in Insect and in Cricket and its control rating has improved. Several Hours later another Cricket body appears and Pinocchio takes up residence inside it. Pinocchio begins to move the new cricket body immediately this time. The cricket body twitches like a dead insect until it becomes too dry and Pinocchio leaves the body behind. Pinocchio’s cricket affinity rose and its control rating became 6.

Some time later there is a collection of twenty desiccated crickets on the ground. Pinocchio’s Control rating stopped at ten. Pinocchio has reached a new milestone in its training. It has learned to hop. I watch Pinocchio hop around for another twenty cricket bodies before I get bored.

You have accumulated enough knowledge to summon a common Cricket. Aura level 2, CP 5, 2 Soul fragments.

Neat. Go Pinocchio. I start the process to summon a Slime.

Dots begins making its way to the cricket corpses. It has one skill Absorb. This is different from my absorb ability attached to it. Dots absorb ability converts matter into Mana. I begin summoning dead crickets to feed to Dots.

Time passes and dots is now a bit bigger than a baseball. Its Size rating has reached 5.03. When its size reached 3 or so it's divide ability became active however, it seems content to keep eating crickets as I provide them.

Dots is now a little smaller than a Softball. Dots finishes absorbing its most recent cricket as I receive the following notice.

Slime Dots has exceeded maximum Size Rating for Aura Level 1. If Dots does not eat enough to cover the difference dots will begin to starve.

Hmm… Now seems like a good idea to activate Dots Divide ability.

Slime (unnamed) has escaped your control. (unnamed) is now a hostile creature.

Dots and the nameless slime are now locked in combat with each other. First Dots squeezed off a Golf Ball sized piece of itself. The smaller slime was split off with a plop sound and flew across the room, then the two slimes approached and began a little slime sumo match. I don’t understand what is going on but I’m rooting for the nameless slime, I guess Dots is just doing its job defending the dungeon but it looks like a bully right now.

Time passes and Dots has grown back to Size Rating 10 while the nameless slime has grown to a size rating 2 if I’m any judge of slime (which I’m not) The battle between the two slimes has reached something of a conclusion. Nameless slime is trapped in a corner and is too small to push past Dots and too big to slip by it. After a few minutes in this position I receive a notice.

It looks like my Command isn’t the true limit to the number of monsters I can summon. I decide to absorb the unnamed slime. Once I accomplished this Dots divided. I absorb the new Slime and we repeat this process until Dots reduced itself to Size 2. Dots you served me well. I absorb both slimes so I can summon a new Puppeteer. This time I have chosen to Summon frog bodies for the spirit to puppet. Arise Pinocchio the second.
