《Reign of the Wallenstein》Chapter 16

With my head full of training ideas, I can’t bring myself to sleep. I can’t wait for tomorrow! But, somewhere along the way, I fell asleep. When I opened my eyes next, I heard a chirping noise from outside the window. I feel unusually excited. A good day?
Ah, suddenly I remember something that put a hamper on my excitement.
Yes, today I have to go to school first thing in the morning... Ugh, school again. Why would people go to school anyway? Might is all that matters. I wish they abolish all schools in the world. Better yet, turn all schools into Hero Academy!
By then, what you have to do all day is train, spar, and fight to your heart's content. Unfortunately, it’s just my wishful thinking.
Hmm...
Is it really though?
I don’t know why, but suddenly my thought wandered to the various shows I watched in my previous world. No matter what kind of show it was, no matter the genre they had, whether it’s romance, fantasy, or adventure, there is always a protagonist in that story.
And each protagonist has something in common!
That is their grand achievement!
Just as expected of their special status in the world, their goal and aspiration are also not the same as other ordinary people. It’s grander than anyone else.
Just like Bell Cranel who wished to be a hero, I also- wait, Bell... I nearly forgot that Bell is my father right now. Maybe because he seldom showed his face around here. I can’t believe that innocent rabbit had become an absent parent in his older years. In these six years, I can even count his home visit with my hands. Especially after the spawn disaster. It definitely can’t be more than ten times. Suddenly I feel bad for Ais and the original Joey.
Setting the matter of whether he’s a good parent or not aside. Did he still want to be a hero though?
In the anime, aside from picking up girls in the dungeon, his goal is to become a hero. But what about in this world? Uh, he’s one of those who keep humanity from extinction, so he could be said to be a hero, I guess?
By hero, I don’t mean the plebian title of pro-hero. In my eyes, they’re just a mere job name. Nothing more and nothing less. Just like someone whose job is cooking in a kitchen is called Chef. Pro-hero is also the same. They’re not yet a true hero. Though there should be some that might be different, just like Bell.
Ah, I was distracted again.
Where was I... oh yeah, protagonist goal.

They each always have a lofty goal. But for me... I don’t really have one myself. In my previous life, survival is my greatest goal. Even if I can live one day longer is a great achievement and something I feel grateful for.
But now?
Now I was a precious heir of the Wallenstein family. My maids consist of both retired and active pro-heroes. My parent is the top dogs of this world. I am basically what can be called the ultimate life form.
Isn’t that right?
In this world, who dares to antagonize me?
I can proudly say, None!
So my previous life goal of survival has long past its expired date. This leaves me with no goal to my name.
But suddenly I thought of the boring school.
It might not be a grand goal but, maybe changing the society to abolish normal and boring junior high school into a hero academy might be not that bad of an aspiration.
As my aspiration debut, I’ll change the world’s ruling structure!
Yup, not a bad first step into the new world. But I had a feeling that it will get solved by itself without me doing anything. It has been six years and they already added something extra to the curriculum of junior high. If there's another spawn disaster, I'm afraid they will order children to dive into the dungeon.
I want to retort my imagination, but suddenly I remember the Association. And my heart sunk. Those greedy fuc–.
Knock Knock!
“Young master, it’s time to wake up. You have school today.”
Without waiting for my permission, she made herself at home through my locked door. How?! Is something I want to ask, but I kind of have the answer deep down in my heart.
With how much trust Ais put in Himiko, it doesn’t look weird if she had the master key to the mansion itself. It's not the first time she did it, but I just can't get over it. It feels like my privacy is being invaded again and again. I glanced at the golden crystallized lamp hanging on the ceiling. My mouth curves into a smile, "But even after all the bullshit I just said, I didn't really hate it myself.
I chuckled to myself, "It can't be that I'm a masochist right?" I shook my head, " No way in hell that could be true."
After worrying about such a useless thing for some time, my eyes fluttered in an attempt to lull me back into slumber. I'm sleepy...
Wha-!
Tingling pain suddenly assaulted my eyes.
Ugh, light! Not again.

As usual, she begins the day by shedding accursed light into my safe zone.
“Please don’t look so annoyed, young master. It will ruin your cute image.”
C-Cute?!
How can she say that with a straight face?!
And how many times do I have to tell her not to call me that! But it’s useless no matter what I said to her. She’s a such disobedient maid. Unless it was mother who’s the one to issue the order, she won’t obey it.
And this maid... she might be doing this kind of teasing in order to get an unbecoming reaction out of me. I see through her real plan.
But you know what? I won’t fall for her trick.
With a casual glance at Himiko, I sat up and move the blanket away. I didn’t forget to imitate my mom’s skill, “Poker Face” right away.
“Let me use a shower, it won’t take long.”
Elegantly, I stride to the bathroom with the grace of an aristocrat.
How’s that?
Behind me, I can feel a pair of eyes looking at me.
Ha, she might be so incensed that her plan is ruined. Take that woman.
“Eh? What is this...”
I heard Himiko saying something in a whisper-like voice, her tone is somewhat hesitant. I glanced over my shoulder and saw her looking at my bed.
Huh? why is she looking at my bed? What’s wrong? I have a bad feeling about this.
So I braved myself and dish out a casual remark.
“What’s wrong?”
Himiko looked hesitant as she glanced between me and the bed.
“Young master, did you... wet your bed?”
Huh? wet my... bed?
What nonsense is she spouting about?!
There’s no way I would do that kind of thing!
With a rushed charge, I went straight away to the bed, looking for the wet stain.
Huh? Weird...
But no matter where I look, there’s no sign of wet–
Wait!
Slowly, I glanced at Himiko...
And saw her tilted her head in confusion.
“Hmm, It looked like I saw it wrong. Sorry about that, young master."
After saying that, she gave me an apologetic smile.
This woman... she fooled me again.
I can’t believe I fell for such an obvious trick. That apologetic smile is so annoying. Damn, I am sure she’s laughing at me inside.
Just you wait.
I ignored her and went inside the bathroom.
After Joey closed the bathroom door with a huff, Himiko can’t help but showed an amused smile.
“Madam is right. Young master is so cute. Especially when you tease him. Fufu.”
===
Sitting inside a car, I leaned back lazily as I looked outside the window. Taking special attention to ignoring the maid sitting beside me.
It’s not because I am annoyed, mind you. It's just a matter of class.
She’s a maid and I am her master. So it’s an unavoidable fate for me, the heir of a distinguished family to do so. Isn’t that right? Nah, who am I kidding? I'm still annoyed at her antic this morning.
I sighed and continue my gaze on the outside world. Something that I have little experience of since I arrived in this world. It made me feel funny. Since It’s something that I realized just recently.
As someone from Wallenstein blood, I am always accompanied by the maids as my escort. Ah, even though I said maid, they're at the most third-class hero in status. Still, it’s something that unaffordable by the usual rich family.
You have to be at the level of filthy rich to be able to hire a group of third-class heroes as their maids. Why? Of course, it’s because most heroes had a big pride hidden inside them. The stronger they are, the more pride they had.
I then glanced at the maid beside me from the corner of my eyes.
Now that I think about it, I always wondered about Himiko's past. But so far, I haven't gained anything from observing her around the mansion. Currently, I don't have the resources to create a means to investigate her background and past. It's not like I can ask my mom and expect her to blab about her subordinate's past. From her ability alone, she should be at level 3 or 4.
Such existence won’t be satisfied with becoming a mere maid, right? A level 3 hero would become the target of Guilds’ recruitment. Though I doubt the Big 6 would try to recruit her. She’s not bad, but not that great either.
You have to be a unique existence that defied common sense to make them chase after you, just like me. Though I won’t accept their sales pitch. To be exact, I can’t accept their offer. As the heir of Wallenstein, it’s no brainer that I would succeed my father to become the guild master.
Sigh... what a burden.
But, It can’t be helped.
At least It’s fun enough to serve as a hobby I guess.
Wait a moment, Himiko is more or less working for mom and dad. So, is Himiko already part of mom's guild? I never thought about this... I guess I should ask mom later.

This story is a neo-noir dark LITRPG in a world similar to earth. Take the tags seriously. I've been working on this project for 6 months and my MC is a bit unconventional, so I'm excited to introduce you all to him. Beware, it will be a slow-burn, so please be patient. The main plot will start to kick up at around chapter 15. I will be writing about racists, rapists, cultists and horrible humans. I do not condone or excuse their behavior or choice of words but the first arc will be in a prison and (some) prisoners don't mince their words. My MC doesn't adapt to the new world immediately because that is not realistic at all. It takes time and because of his personality, it will take more than a system to convince him to do someone else's bidding ;) Each chapter will have around 3000+ (give or take) words. I will be updating 2-3 times a week (depending on how busy I am with work and/or college) when I'm done publishing my backlog (Which is very big, 40,000+ words). **Each comment gets rep! Cover art by @tahraart on Instagram. Link to discord: https://youtu.be/91wX0NRjJqg Have a good one, Pistol. **** THE STORY IS ON TEMPORARY HIATUS. WE WILL BE BACK IN 2 MONTHS. SORRY EVERYONE.
