《Disdained Challenger》The World in Great Peril

There were great winds in the attic.
The sight of this being was too scary, this thing was too domineering, I was too afraid to look away, too afraid to do... anything.
What was I supposed to do? Bow my head? Stand straight as a soldier?
This thing started laughing, its voice was deep, every sound that came out of it held so much weight.
"Listen young one and listen well, I don't like repeating myself. What year is it?" Said the ominous being.
"It's the year 2025, Sir!" I didn't know how to address it, I thought I should be respectful... it can probably kill me with the flick of its wrist.
"It has been 6,025 years... I've been stuck for so long, yet the time I am released is the time I die." said the being with a gloomy tone.
"6,025 years? May I ask how old the respectable one is?" I said with a freighted tone.
Now I had a rough guess on how old this guy could've been, over 6,000 years old... you don't need a big brain for that. But I wanted to know the exact age because he can be so much greater...
I half-heartedly thought I was going crazy or that I had schizophrenia, but the thing is, whatever I felt, it was real... too real to be all in my head. There is this great being in front of me, someone that's so terrifying that I, for the first time in my life, trembled in fear.
"Me? I am just a meager 10,625 years old..." said the great one.
"Meager," I mumbled under my breath.
"I know I have no right to ask, but may I ask, were you trapped in the ball for all this time?" I said.
"You have great respect child, this way of thinking will allow you to live longer in life. But to answer your question, yes my soul was trapped in the ball for over 6,000 years." said the great one with extreme grief.

"listen young one, I've done a quick recon of how the situation of the planet is, with the eruption of my soul, the great veil will be broken. There Isn't much time for an explanation, my time is nearing its end." said the great one.
"There was a great war, a shadow war— human against the ethereal. This war was dragged on for thousands of years, and now it seems the second climax will start soon. Listen, my time here is short, my friends who were trapped with me are already gone. You will become a challenger, a human who has the power to fight against the ethereal. This war was always a shadow war, the majority of the human race didn't know about this, but now the veil is on the verge of tearing." The great one says this with a terrible amount of sorrow with its words.
The great one speaks with a light shining through its eyes, "Your world will no longer be the same, challengers and humans will now coexist in matrimony, one will no longer hide from the other."
"Your physique is great for fighting, your head is strong, you have great courage, you have a sense of duty. I Daruma, protector of the Earth, The light of the humans, bless you with the strength needed to protect the humans. You must be vigorous in training, you must be cold to your enemies, but warm to whom you cherish, you must always remember, the survival of the humans always comes first. From this day onwards you, Stephen Wilson, are now a challenger of Earth. May you be prosperous." Daruma released a deep exhale.
With his last breath, my body became lighter and lighter, my vision opened up, thunder shooting across the skies, rain falling faster than it has ever in the years I've been alive, winds strong enough to almost blow our house down... everything settled, Daruma was gone, my body reborn.

*Somewhere in America*
Alarms blaring, sirens blaring, "Defcon 1" the whole intelligence agency is in total shambles.
"Bill! What is happening?! Why is the country set to DEFCON 1!?" Said The President.
Bill was the secretary of the president, whatever information The President is in need of, Bill will take care of it.
"President sir, the sacred veil is on the verge of collapsing. The world will soon be in a rough war," said Bill.
"The veil is torn?" The President, nearly collapsing...
"For thousands of years, we have been trying to end this god-forsaken war, many generations sacrificing their lives, and now many more will have to as well. We've tried so hard for the veil to not tear... what has caused this?" said The President.
"From what we gathered, the ethereal has become too strong for the veil that our ancestors placed. We need more challengers, if not then the fall of the human race is inevitable," said Bill.
"That can't be it, as long as one ancestor lives, the veil will be up... Since the veil is now about to rip... there are no more ancestors guarding the planet, we are on our own now." said The President with extraordinary sorrow.
"Bill, how long until the veil is totally ripped?" says The President.
"1-2 months, give or take a couple of days... What we couldn't get our head around was that there was an estimated 100-200 years left before the veil would rip, how could it suddenly drop that fast?" said Bill.
"It seems as though the last ancestor has suddenly died..." Said The President.
The President remarks, "look, you are right we need new challengers, but how? There can only be so many challengers that come normally."
"Sean, don't you feel that?" said Bill with a surprised face.
*Sean is the presidents real name*
Both The President and Bill together, "The energy levels... It is rising!!"
Challengers are awakened from the ages of 9 and above, but most usually are awoken at 9, as that is their prime to learn their basics. Sadly due to the fact that earth had very little "energy," "chi," "Ki," "aura," (all are the same) there was always a low amount of awaken in the world. This would always end up depowering the humans total output. The humans were always at a disadvantage in power, the only advantage we held was that we had our homefield.
But now, that the veil had a huge tear, energy was flung into the planet, filling the air, filling every plant, every human. The humans now had a chance to build their army to fight off this evil.
"Sean, what will you do?" said Bill.
The President exclaimed, "What will I do? Simple. I will recruit more people, I will send word to the other countries. This world is changing, for the better or for the worse, I cannot tell."
*Back at the house*
Now that you have caught up with everything let me reintroduce myself.
Hello! My name is Stephen Wilson, I'm 20 years old… a total failure as one would say.
Why? Quite simple, I'm bad at almost everything I partake in. Really! It's quite saddening if I'm going to be honest with you.
However, I am what you would call a challenger! Now I don't really know why I was chosen, it's all quite new to me, but if there is one thing that I know of, it is that I have a mother and a cute little sister, whom I cherish too much to let any harm come their way.

Tales From the Terran Republic
We tried, you know… We really did. We tried so hard to be… better… We actually were better once. No, seriously. We were enlightened, generous, peaceful… Stop laughing! We were! We were peaceful, dammit! No, I’m not “tugging your winglets.” It’s true! Look, if you’re going to be like that, I’ll just push the launch button right now. See ya, don’t wanna be… Oh, you ARE interested after all? Ok. Hey, I just got word that your captain will be ok. We were able to get him into a med pod quick enough… Of course, we tried to save him. Just what sort of people do you think we are?... Now that was harsh… completely accurate, mind you… but harsh. Anyway, like I was saying, we were a prosperous, peaceful people, and war had been nothing but a distant memory for over five hundred years before it happened... Before Yellowstone happened! You don’t mean to tell me that you didn’t know about that… massive supervolcano? Blew the Hell out of our planet? Two years where nothing grew?… Anyway, that’s what started it, the Sol Wars… Oh, you have heard about those, huh? Well, needless to say, all that enlightened, generous, and peaceful didn’t exactly make it through the two years of complete famine and the wars that followed… Maybe it’s more accurate to say the enlightened, generous, and peaceful among us didn’t survive… (laughs)… You’re right. It does explain a lot, doesn’t it? Probably for the best, though. “Enlightened” and “peaceful” aren’t really all that useful out here in the galaxy at large, are they? That reminds me; thanks for the ship. You guys did a great job with this one. Oh, don’t be like that. At least it was us what got you and not one of the really messed groups like the Harlequin or the Black Angels. We’re just going to take your shit. It could be worse… trust me... Well, anyway, we loaded the life pods down with some good food, and you guys can drink alcohol, right? We put in a couple of fifths in there, too. It’s about forty percent ethanol, so be warned. Most species will want to dilute that. We’ll drop your wounded off somewhere safe once they are stable. Your fleet patrols this area fairly regularly, and we’ll drop the distress beacon right before we jump… Well, It’s been fun and no hard feelings, right?… Oh, you want to know some more? Sure. I got time to kill… Let me tell you about this one pirate and her crew. They’re Terran scum, but they are still… Why do we hate the Terrans? Hoo Boy… How much time you got? *** It’s the thirty-second century, and humanity is now part of a galactic civilization comprised of hundreds of worlds. Humanity has been savaged by natural disaster and war and has been fractured into several separate populations, all of which loathe each other (some things never change). This is a gritty drama-driven rambling tale that swings between action, drama, horror, and plenty of very, very dark comedy. Warning: contains adult situations, absolutely horrible language, bathroom humor, implied ultra-violence, actual ultra-violence, drugs, alcohol, pirates, mercs, xeno prostitutes, moral ambiguity, deranged AI's with identity issues, giant commie space slugs, and a poor little frog girl who just wants to sell coffee. Updates twice weekly on Tuesday and Friday. *** Note: This story can get rough. Those warning tags? They aren't for show. I recently received a review and as a result I want to make one thing clear. Portraying something is NOT endorsing it! Many "heavy" topics are touched upon and just because a character says or does something does not imply that the author feels the same way. I selected the "Anti-Hero Lead" and "Villainous Lead" tags for a reason. Rule number one of this story is "no good guys". A good description of the story is, "bad people doing bad things to worse people". There are a few good characters, here and there, but they are the exception to the rule. If you want a hard-hitting, exciting, gritty sci-fi story that doesn't pull any punches, or shies away from "difficult" concepts, welcome! If you are set on a pure and noble knight that runs around and slays conveniently evil monsters and rescues totally innocent princesses... or your sensibilities are easily offended... You're not going to be happy with this one.

Truck-kun Gets Sacrificed
Driscoll is my own version of a world with a game-like "system" of endless possibilities. MC has his own status, classes, skills, magic, and a living greatswordstaff in a world of monsters, demi-humans of all kinds, and even the supernatural. Sound good? Well, at first for Tru, it was a dream come true(I'm sorry). At least until reality hits him again and again. His quest from God is vague and must be discovered by him along the way. Hopefully, he can figure that out someday but for now, this new world's threats and his potential for power are motivation aplenty. With His new partner by his side, he's ready to embark on his mission of infinite sacrifice, however many lives it takes. The setting is pretty standard for fantasy, with my beginner attempts at writing. Litrpg elements are definitely involved here but It'll calm down as the story progresses and the world's foundation is laid. Judeo/Christian themes and principles take a major role and will be a backbone for much of the story. The fights will paint a picture in the mind rather than just be a bunch of number crunching. While he is meant to be a sacrifice to save all of Driscoll, he needs to gain enough power and influence to be a worthwhile sacrifice, or so he thinks. And so carnage will ensue as he avoids death as best he can while at the same time sacking himself for others. Truck Coon is your average determined, jiu-jitsu practitioner, tax associate that just started his new career. He dies to save kids from a semi-truck(Truck Coon got truck-kun'd, making him Truck-kun) and is transported to another world rather conventionally by God. Upon his arrival, he is quickly confronted with his first conflicts in the wild. Give it a shot and let me know what you think. Chapters are currently between 2300 and 4000 words and I try to post weekly, but also deal with severe limitations that cause late posts often. I have zero actual experience with writing stories and only recently started reading web novels in 2020. If you end up hating it, let me know your thoughts in a detailed comment or review, especially if you love it though :D I want to get better and welcome the feedback, so expect changes to be made with any flaws that y'all point out which I don't already have plans to address in future chapters. That being said, keep it constructive in nature, please. I have no Idea how the formatting and such will go, so if you like or dislike some techniques I try, give me that well-appreciated feedback! Thank you for reading.

Legacy (vrmmo game)
Is currently being rewritten. Darius is a guy with no friends because the friends of his friends don't like him and so he has no friends. Legacy, a vrmmo game, is the first of its kind to actually look like the fantasy games kids dream of. Darius gets the game, planning to just have fun and maybe get some friends. Unfortunately, he's the protagonist, so yeahhhh shit's gonna happen He chooses the mage class which is often ridiculed for its low health and high MP costs. And he somehow becomes the top player within the game... There is gonna be fucking profanity because books where the protagonist is like "fiddlesticks" when they fuck up are stupid and targeted at kids that haven't gone thru puberty yet. And yes, there will be gore. Otherwise what's the point of these games? The cover is not mine and I don't own it okay I just got it off one of those sites rate this if you feel like it
