《Just a Simple Guy》16 - Back on the road

Salim reached the door that led to the outside. Pushing it open and taking the strange trip back to the plane of grass Salim stepped out of the tent and looked around.
Eyes adjusting it seemed to be mid afternoon. The horse and cart seemed to be just the same as they had been left.
Vivyern came out beside him and looked around as well. Salim felt her curiosity growing as she wondered what he would do.
Salim realized it would probably be a problem if they strode into a seamingly human town looking like demons. Vivyern was disguised as Beth for a reason. But how was she able to do it?
Requesting to be disguised Vivyern became excited as she quickly went about to obey him.
Putting her hands on Salim’s head he felt a cold feeling embrace his body. Looking at his arm Salim watched as the skin tone changed from a solid white to a rather dark tan. He guessed that his ears also looked shorter and horns had disappeared.
Turning to Vivyern he was surprised with the sight of a young woman with the same skin tone and probably similar features.
Why had she? Ehh it would probably be better this way. He could pretend to be her brother or something.
Salim reached out to give her reward as she moved closer to him to snuggle into him as he gave her energy. Looking up at him she simply smiled before saying in a high pitched voice that definitely did not sound like Vivyern “thank you…”
Salim paused… all this time she could still talk?! But why did she not before was she just doing it to mess with him? Ugh, he was too mentally drained to deal with this right now.
Looking at her Salim explained what he was planning for their disguise. Nodding in understanding Vivyern got on the cart grabbing the reins and beckoned him to get up next to her.
Salim picked up the tent after watching it seemingly fold itself threw it in the back of the cart.
Getting up into the back of the cart in front of the tent despite Vivyern’s wines for him to sit next to her Salim laid back and began contemplating.
So she really had all her memories and everything she just got her personality overwritten? Judge by her understanding of what he was planning she still seemed smart which worried him. He really didn’t know whether to compare her to a dog or a cat. On one hand she seemed like she enjoyed praise along with being near him but on the other hand, she could just be using him to get his energy so she could appease her withdrawal.

Based on how she seemed addicted to his energy he really shouldn’t have to worry. He was on the dominant side of the bond as well as his energy was unique apparently just being titled as UNKNOWN ENERGY by the system.
If he was one of a kind and only he could give the energy to her that should probably ensure her loyalty. Plus she had probably already started associating the pleasure she got from the energy with him so more loyalty was probably insured.
Anyway that thing aside the amount of things that had happened during that transformation process giving him a plethora of skills.
It seemed that a skill could evolve if reaching a certain level of compatibility with the user. It seemed more like a mental thing for Unbreakable Will but a skill that was entirely physical might require the perfect body to utilize it to full extent.
Also combining skills seemed possible as shown with Unbreakable Will and Infused Empowerment. Two skills he was looking at combining if he could where Demon Rule and Impose Will.
They were both very similar being some sort of mind or will domination ability causing the opponent to fall under the control of the user so there was some hope for compatibility there.
He might as well test some skills while he was riding so Salim began to experiment. He didn’t touch Full Transformation for now because who knows what could happen with that but he did test the full effects of Cold Body and Touch of Frost.
Through that, he realized he could use multiple active skills all at once furthering his idea for combination or at least synchronization. The effect he got from Cold Body and Touch of Frost was an extremely bright gleam from his entire body seamingly boosting damage as well as mana drain. Although he had leveled up a whole seven times in both and five in elemental resistance Salim was put out of commission as the spell drained his mana at a ridiculously fast rate.
Looking over the rest of his skills Salim realized there was a lot of things he could use to boost his overall battle ability but just hadn't had the time to figure out. Using Energy Creation to boost mana recovery Salim used Infused Empowerment to sit up and actually move around during Magica deprivation.

The thought came to Salim that he was using his personal energy to fuel his body instead of mana. His body felt stiff the whole time but he managed to move around albeit with a jerky movement.
Not wanting to mess up Vivyern as she drove the cart Salim held off on using any of his domination skills and was left with reading descriptions for the skills he was utterly confused about.
Mind Division seemed to be a cool skill that allowed him to dual cast but he was a little bit hesitant to use it as it affected the perception of the mind so he held off on that. Stat compression seemed to be a sort of prestige system. You could compress stats so that single digits of stats affected your body more but you would have to plan on getting a lot of stats affter that as the having stats versus prestiging them would always be better if you were stuck not being able to gain any stats. It was more of a risky long term insurance skill that Salim did not want to touch at all yet.
He barely reached out of the hundreds and only because he became a demon. Salim still had very little control over his body in terms of fighting.
Challenge was the final skill he hadn’t really checked yet. It required challenging a higher leveled being and the only one Salim could think of at that point was Vivyern and he wasn’t ready to get bodied yet. He was still a bit apprehensive ever since he had requested her to fight him.
So being stuck with nothing else to do Salim began looking at the clouds. He wondered if there were any sky cities before laughing at himself. Of course, there was? This place while wanting to kill him at every term still provided a great amount of adventure and while one might say it was too dangerous to go carelessly adventuring Salim would laugh and tell them to go die in a dungeon.
Name: Salim Douglas

XP: 70%
Class: The Undefeatable
Health (Regen): 1190 (510)
Magica (Regen): 825 (320)
Stamina (Regen): 1344 (495)

Intelligence: 165
Wisdom: 160
Energy: 810
Stat Points: 10
Oh, he still had some unused stat points.... Might as well put them into his agility stat and move on with it.
Yes, Salim was still planning to be an agility main. He understood the ability to shake the world with your fist or spells but that didn’t appeal to him as much as the unadulterated excitement of running at utterly ridiculous speeds around people.
This raised another question from Salim about this society. Did these people not have the system? If they did where they receiving this amount of ridiculous boost in power from these stats? How would society function if there were these almighty creatures running around? They would probably be able to disregard whole countries and whatnot. That sounded nice…
Well, for now, he would just have to hope he could body people with stats.
Vivyern was both equal combinations of power and skill. She could easily throw him around if she wished. Salim actually began to realize that they were around the same speed she was just ridiculously skilled with that giant sword of hers.
Which was odd because it was highly possible that these people didn’t receive as many stat points. He was sure they saw something or did see the system due to Vivyern mentioning his skills although that may have been through some sort of observation magic.
Maybe levels where a good way to judge nonearthling strength PLUS their level of skill. Because while Vivyern may be close to him in stats now she completely outclassed him in skill. Yea he would go with that to help save part of his pride.
A sudden halt pushed Salim back to reality as the cart came to a stop.
Sitting up Salim looked around and saw a man in what looked like leather armor walk towards them. Salim was able to see a gleam of sun on metal as the light caught a blade hiding in the leather fabric of the man's armor.
Hmm. Maybe he would be able to test out his skills.
