《Ehror, The Ascent》Chapter 2

Angelo fell back to Gael position in the back.
“Gonna playing supporting role with me now? Even for her this is quite dangerous.” Gael commented.
“As we both know staying near her when she uses her abilities is quite dangerous.” Angelo answered. “Besides its taking a lot of attacks from my daggers its mind is going to be quite a mess.”
“Good answer.” Gael glanced at him with a rare grin.
Angelo glanced around sheepishly a small grin on his lips. “I only wish Akuuna was with us.”
“I am sure we would meet again later, the dude is good at turning up when its most convenient, for him and weirdly enough for us too.” Gael replied.
“I am going in guys, so stop the chit chat, by the way this is formation B.” Sevyn slammed a fist into her palm before rushing the wolf now eyeing her dangerously.
There was no way she could defeat it in straight combat even using her Ehror affinity. But she knew that already. She doubted their previous plan of attack would work so easily again, monsters of this level were intelligent though due to Angelo’s abilities its mental faculties in general had likely been cut in half for the time being. As she neared the wolf, behind her Angelo’s eyes took a small glow to them, the air in front of him seemed to shimmer a slight green glow covering the area. The wolf took a sudden step back whimpering. Angelo had just used Nightmare causing the monster to see images that it should find terrifying in its mind. On a creature of such power it would last long however.
Sevyn moved fast, leaping up before using the momentum from her run and the gravity of the drop to slam the Wolf’s head downwards with her fist. She followed up with a combo of punches and kicks before hopping to the size allowing some ice shards to hit the already injured form of its face. The wolf was looking quite battered at this point but it recovered from the Nightmare and dove at her with its jaws opened wide. She was ready however and leapt out of the way letting the wolf take a massive chunk out of a tree chunk, with jaws big enough to swallow a human whole the tree was bound to fall. This is where she used Gravity Well increasing the force of gravity in a small area for a moment, the wolf was pushed into the ground and the tree’s falling trajectory was determined. She took the moment it was disoriented to land a punch before backing off. The monster turned swinging towards her with its paw this time. She dodged once more out of the path of another tree repeating the pattern. This deadly game of tag happened several more times however she wasn’t able to dodge perfectly all the time and took a couple of shallow claws swipes to her midriff leading to her having blood dripping on her white pants. It was the first time in a long while she had been injured. She had a frankly feral look on her face as her adrenaline spiked.

“Ice!” She yelled.
A large patch of ice was created in an open spot as she dodged under a claw swipe grabbing the paw with both hands while being careful not to get hurt by the claws. She took the massive wolf for a ride through the air as she torqued with her whole body into a throw. The larger than a carriage wolf sailed through the air into the patch as it slid for long distance before stopping against a boulder cracking it.
“Angelo!” Another yell.
All of a sudden the wolf noticed the multiple trees if destroyed the bases of hadn’t all fallen, in fact most seemed to be staying in the air as if hanging on something. Looking closer all the floating trees were being prevented from falling by green chains wrapped around them. And they were all leaned in positions centred towards the spot the wolf was currently at. Letting out a whimper it attempted to stand through the pain of being slammed into a boulder that was thoroughly splintered from the impact. The chains suddenly disappeared into a green mist letting the trees fall. Furthermore, Sevyn used gravity well speeding up the fall and also increasing the burden on the struggling wolf tenfold. The wolf collapsed under the more than a dozen trees. It struggled for a few more seconds before giving off its last breath.
Angelo appeared from behind her, exhaustion clouding his features. She turned towards him before giving him a thumbs up as he grinned weakly. Formation B was a plan they had made up during their journey through the jungle in the case that they found and fought against a monster like this. However, it was only meant to use one tree of the larger type as opposed to all the smaller ones used. Chasing her around during the fight while making sure the wolf did not notice that something was off was tough. Gael walked up from behind them also giving Angelo an approving nod. The fact he was able to modify the plan according to Sevyn’s movements and make it work was very impressive as was the amount of Ehror he used to create all those chains.
“Alright lets extract the Ehror and split it up, evenly as always.” Sevyn held up her arm and a dark indigo glow surrounded it. Particles of green energy flowed out of the wolf’s body like water, forming a dense green orb in the palm of her hand. The orb then split into 3 even sections, she had gotten good at this ever since they discovered it a few days ago. Two of the sections floated towards the two boys flowing into their bodies. Every one felt theirs and each other’s Ehror rise as the absorption completed. They had gotten stronger once more.

This style of beating monsters and absorbing the left over Ehror had made them grow stronger in leaps and bounds over the last few days they had been stuck in this jungle. Gael had been the first one to discover this ability on their second day in the jungle. He had always been good at the manipulation of the extradimensional energy compared to the rest of them.
They had been set upon by a group of monsters on their second day. It was tough but mostly due to the sheer numbers they ultimately came out victorious. As they looked over the forest strewn with the bodies of all sorts of beasts they had noticed the dissipation of Ehror that was when Gael had the idea to gather the energy. After a few tries he managed to do it. Not everything was collected unfortunately it was far from a hundred percent efficient but it work. The absorption was something that seemed to happen automatically after the collection. The other two had learnt from him and Angelo was the one that figured out how to keep the orb of energy around and then how to split it up.
They were still figuring out to improve the efficiency, it felt like they were interfering with some natural law due to how the energy seemed to try hard to fight their influence over it. However they had improved it vastly via using their own Ehror first to influence that of the fallen beasts. This style was discovered by Sevyn using her Ehror to essentially dominate the unruly energy of the beasts. Gael had commented about that, mentioning how ‘She wondered why he called her the Tyrant’. She shook her head at the memory a slight smile on her lips. This situation brought her mind back to Akuuna there was no way they would still have no bearings with him around, the guy had a knack for being wherever he wanted to be even in places he was unfamiliar with.
She looked around, they were completely lost and despite being sure they had stuck to one direction she couldn’t help but feel like this jungle went on forever. This world was completely unfamiliar to the three of them. Considering that they had only escaped that boring facility 8 days ago their knowledge on anything about this world was sorely lacking including their current location on it. She was glad that she was with the other two as she was not sure how she would have acted being in this forest for so long on her own. Well actually she was sure she would have gone completely crazy by now, whether that was bad for the world or her was unknown. Never mind she was sure it would have been worse for the world. Living her entire eighteen years of existence in that facility had certainly broken something in her, if not all of her peers. The memories of her final day welled up in her.

Prince of Destiny
Karl is the last prince of a royal house that has been overthrown by brutal revolutionaries. Orphaned by the revolutionaries, he was rescued and has been raised in secret by Leevana, a green skinned night-hag, for the past ten years. When Karl turns sixteen and is old enough to embrace his destiny, he and Leevana must set out on a quest to find his royal grandmother. But the depraved new leader of the revolutionaries, Joe Steel, is on their trail... Somewhat inspired by the basic concept of Don Bluth's fairy tale animated feature, purporting to be based on the myths surrounding Anastasia Romanov. I don't think this counts as a fanfiction, because it does not use anyone else's characters and it is in its own self-contained world, but please keep in mind the inspiration. Leevana and Karl are completely original characters, but Joe Steel, the bigger bad, is inspired by Stalin. Maybe let me know if you think it should have a fanfiction tag or not.

“The value you have brought to trade is immense, more than a thousand fold what any other traveler to Crucible has ever produced. More than even I produced during my journey.” The old man paused for a moment here, seemingly reluctant to continue. After a few seconds he begins again with weariness creeping into his voice. “As the Messenger of Crucible I have received the value of your life. You shall be awarded a body with potential equaling the value you have brought to this place in accordance with the laws of the higher realms. Now you shall depart for Crucible, but first; I, Jaze, will give you some advice.” The old man, Jaze, he had named himself paused a time. Time enough that Gray began to wonder if he was still present, when he suddenly continued in a low and serious tone, “You will undoubtedly have great potential Gray of Earth, but it is still only potential. What could be is not necessarily what will be. If you step foolishly in my world, if you can not live up to the potential you have bartered for, Crucible will crush you mercilessly and tear away your very soul.” A thought, cheerful and light was heard from Gray before his presence was sent rocketing away like a shooting star. “I’m looking forward to it.”
