《Fate of The Godwin》Chapter 8 - The Examination Day (1)

In the morning, Robert woke up with a clear mind.
'Right, I did it yesterday. I couldn't believe that I did it with a prostitute.' Robert thought.
"You've woken up. Yesterday was amazing," she said.
'Actually, doing it with a prostitute is not that bad. I can relieve my [Lustful] nature with her and she won't ask for a responsibility like any other woman.'
"What's your name, cutie?"
"My name is Miranda."
"Alright then, Miranda. I'll go for now, here is your money. I'll go to you again if I have the urge to do it."
"Are you sure you want to go with that morning wood?"
"This? I'm afraid I couldn't hold back if I do it again."
Robert left the room and he saw someone was waiting for him outside. His bodyguard was sleeping on a bench.
"Hey, wake up!" Robert said.
The bodyguard woke up while he was still muddle-headed.
"Young Lord, forgive me because I woke up late." the bodyguard said.
"Don't worry about that. What's your name? You did a good job staying here. At least I need to know your name."
"My name is Jimmy, Young Lord."
"Alright, Jimmy. Let's go back to the inn."
"Yes, Young Lord."
They went back to the inn to meet up with Richard. When they arrived at the inn, they saw Richard and the other bodyguard was eating their meal.
"Hey, Richard. You should've waited for me before you order a breakfast!" Robert said.
"Well, I thought you are still having fun with that woman from yesterday," Richard said.
"Forget about yesterday. I was impulsive back then. Being single for fifteen years is not nice, you're lucky to have a fiancee, Richard."
"Should I ask father to arrange an engagement for you?"
"Nah, I don't want to be tied in marriage for now."
"So you will play with prostitutes from now on?"
"I guess that will do, but a girlfriend would be nice."
"Suit yourself."
"Finally, my food has arrived. Time to dig in."
They chatted while they were eating the breakfast meal.
Nothing special happened during the week's stay at the inn. Robert and Richard explored the capital every day to familiarize themselves.
****
The entrance examination day.
Richard and Robert were waiting in front of the Imperial Academy's gate. There were a lot of other examinees the were waiting with them.
The gate was finally open. An elderly man with a mage robe came out and stand right in the middle of the gate.

"Today is the day for Imperial Academy to recruit a new batch of students. Those who want to become students. They must pass through this gate first!" the elderly man shouted.
After he announced the test, he went back inside the academy.
The crowd was confused. They thought passing through the gate was too easy. There must be an obstacle somewhere.
"Passing through the gate? Hah! That is easy." A man shouted.
He walked to the gate first. Everybody was curious, they didn't dare to enter first. When the man was right in front of the gate. One more step to pass through. But, he had been blown away by an invisible force.
"Kuagh!" he screamed.
"Hahaha, if becoming an Imperial Academy student was that easy. Everybody will be an Imperial Academy student already!" The elderly man shouted.
His voice was coming from the sky. Everybody looked up and saw him laughing at them.
"To pass through the gate, you must be under eighteen years old!"
"But why eighteen?" An examinee said.
"Kids these days, have you ever gone to a library? You should have known this information already." the elderly man said.
He shook his head and sighed.
The examinee's face was beet red from embarrassment.
"Eighteen years old? That makes sense." Robert said.
"What happened when you're eighteen, Brother?" Richard said.
"When we reach eighteen. Our body will have a qualitative change. The mana inside our body couldn't be purified anymore. That means if you have bad mana quality when you're eighteen. You're doomed to fail for the rest of your life."
"Then, why Father didn't teach us how to purify our mana?"
"I think Father must have thought that there is a better technique to purify our mana in this academy. I bet Father will teach us how to purify our mana if we fail the exam."
"That makes sense. By the way, how did you know about this?"
"From books of course. That's why you should read books, Richard. This is common knowledge."
'Hmm, how did they make the age detector? Did they use some kind of rune to detect our mana? Let's hope it won't detect my real age.' Robert thought.
After that, every examinee under eighteen was filled with joy. They happily pass through the gate without any problem. Meanwhile, every examinee that had passed eighteen was filled with regret. Some of them even forced themselves to pass through the gate but to no avail. They had been blown away by the invisible force.
Robert and Richard also passed through the gate easily since they are under eighteen.

'Phew, looks like I'm worried for nothing. Of course, it can't detect my real age haha.'
When they entered, the elderly man had been waiting for them.
"Alright, let me introduce myself first. My name is Jonathan, you can call me Professor Jonathan. I'm teaching wind magic in this academy. Those who have passed the first test should follow me."
The scenery inside the academy was beautiful. From the outside, the academy looked like a fortress. But from the inside, they could see a beautiful garden filled with different kinds of plants and flowers. The architecture was magnificent. There were carvings on the wall and murals on the ceiling. The floor was also built from marble. It was so luxurious.
The commoners were dumbfounded to see all these luxurious things while the middle-class nobles pretended to hold their composure to not look like country bumpkins. Only the real rich high-class nobles felt everything was ordinary.
Robert was a bit surprised. He didn't expect to see Ancient Roman architecture here.
'I'm convinced. The capital is the same as Ancient Rome. the foods are Italian food, the architecture is also the same as Ancient Roman architecture.' Robert thought.
They walked through a corridor and arrived at an auditorium. Professor Jonathan climbed up to the stage and cleared his throat.
"Everybody please find a seat. We will start the second test."
The examinees sat down on the chairs. Some of them were fighting for the front seat. Robert didn't care about it and chose a random seat. Richard followed and sat right beside him.
After everybody found their seat. The professor snapped his finger. Then, many people came out from backstage, they were also wearing mage robes. They gave every examinee a piece of paper and a pen.
"The second test is theoretical. Whether you join a combat class or a non-combat class later. You still need some basic knowledge to survive in this harsh world. This test will determine if you're ignorant of the world or you're worthy enough to stay in this place. We don't want idiots in our academy!" Professor Jonathan said.
Some examinees were nervous because they didn't study before this. They thought they just need combat skills if they wanted to join the combat class.
"What should I do, Brother? I haven't studied anything yet," Richard said.
Richard was one of them.
"Serve you right, Brother. I've always told you to study but you said it was pointless," Robert said.
"Now, the test begins! You have two hours to finish the test. Submit your paper to me if you have finished it!" Professor Jonathan said.
Everybody started reading the questions. Some questions were about political knowledge, some were about surviving skills. Robert answered the questions fast because he had studied every common knowledge available from books in his Father's library. Not only that, his [Intelligent] trait helped him greatly to understand and remember the content of the books he had read.
Other examinees were struggling to answer them. Robert could only chuckle while he was watching their struggle. He could see some other examinees that answered their paper smoothly. But they were not as fast as Robert. Robert finished the exam even before thirty minutes had passed.
'I'm speed. Look at yourself mongrel, you couldn't even answer these easy questions? HAHAHAHA,' Robert thought.
Right at the thirty minutes mark, he stood up. Everybody was distracted by his move and looked at him. Some stared at him with a look of disgust while others looked at him with surprise all over their face.
'Hah, what a poser! There is no way he answered all these questions in thirty minutes. He must have filled his paper with nonsense.' Examinee A thought.
'What the f*ck? He has finished it already? What a genius!' Examinee B thought.
One person stared at Robert with pure hate.
'How dare you steal my limelight! I'll make sure to punish you later!' the man thought.
He had silver hair indicating he was an imperial family member. His face was so scrunched like he was about to murder someone.
Robert realized the murderous gaze. He looked where the gaze came from and saw a silver-haired man.
'An imperial family member? He must be the crown prince. Did he become angry because I finished first? What a petty person.' Robert thought.
He didn't care about the crown prince and went straight to Professor Jonathan.
"You are fast. I hope your answers won't disappoint me," Professor Jonathan said.
"You guarantee my answers won't disappoint you," Robert said.
"Good! I like your confidence. You can go now. Follow that man, he will guide you to the waiting room."
Professor Jonathan was pointing at a man near the exit door. Robert went there and followed the man into the waiting room.
"You could enjoy any facility in this room while waiting for the other examinees." the guide said.
"Okay, thank you."
Robert then sat on a nearby chair. He decided to take a little nap.

The Dao of Magic
Here I am, sitting on a mountain so far away from civilisation it might as well be the godforsaken arse of the world, about to ascend. Can't wait to leave this crapfest of a planet... Turns out that the higher ups decided that an unaffiliated rogue like me is too big of a risk to let run around free. Seems like this entire cultivation world is a late stage capitalist money making machine for the powers that be in the higher realms, and me stealing the good loot in front of their descendants and sect disciples noses finally pissed them off enough to take action. First, they sent all the sect masters and hidden dao protectors to off me - which failed, obviously. Heh, afterwards they simply bitch slapped me out of their universe though. That is interesting and all, but I just woke up in a valley watching some critters murder each other while trying not to freak out about how bad it smells here.Soo… where the fuck am I? The Novel's Extra's Extra
As a reader, Cristopher always looked for things that entertained him, didn't matter what the "critics" said, all that matters was his own opinion on the novel, so he started reading "The Novel's Extra", a webnovel that despicts an author who is transmigrated to his own novel. It was fun and all with its own good and bad points, really, one of his favorites novels at the end of the journey, and that's taking into account the little fact that he didn't have too many things he was able to enjoy, not in that empty shell that was called life for him... Why could someone be born like that? With a void inside, an endless void that slowly consumes oneself... But... for better or worse... everything changed one day, the same day he woke up to discover he had the same faith of the author whose novel he just finished reading, becoming an extra in a novel, becoming The novel's extra's extra... /Ok, now that's the description I thought of... first of all, for those of you who are reading this, if any, a few points I have to make clear: 1. I'm not an english native speaker, so if you find anything wrong in the text, please let me know, that would help me learn, and I would be thankful for that.2. I'm writting this out of pure "enjoyment", so while I'll try to be constant, I'll not make any promises.3. True reason why I'm writing this is because I'm going through a moderate to crippling depression right now (and no, is not because anything trully bad and horrendous happened to me, it seems to have something to do with my brain's malfuctioning, among other things), and doctors told me to try writing as I enjoy reading. So yeah, this is more like a self-help excercise, to keep myself distracted while trying to be safe from my self.4. I choose to make a fanfiction of "The Novel's Extra" as I don't trully know how to write, and because I really loved that webnovel, though there are some points I didn't particulary liked.5. If you see some (let's be clear, really much) self insertion on this series, well, that may be me trying to escape reality, to which I make an early warning and disclaimer, and also ask for forgiveness, as I said before, this is more of an excercise, so don't take it too serious.6. I'll be a slow writer, as I have to still check a few things from the novel, even when I've read it like 3 or 4 times already, and because I know shit about writing a novel or a series.7. If you get to enjoy this, then that's good, I would be glad about it, maybe even more motivated, but I don't really expect this to be any good. Thanks to you all who may, or may not, be reading this novel./
