《Forsaken By The Light》Chapter 2

Angels are mysterious creatures, but at the same time, extremely simple to understand. They serve all of the Creator's purposes and desires. Grand General Uriel, for example, was the son of light and fire, and since ancient times, all his attitudes were aligned with these elements. In other words, Uriel was just, honest and kind as the light is. But also as firm, decisive and merciless as fire is. He commanded the legion in several holy wars and in numerous invasions to the Underworld.
Anatomically, angels are peculiar entities, since they are the product of the very flesh of divinity, and that is why their link with the Creator is so strong. For this reason too, it is that angels are generally creatures without free will. Because, in general, they are the divinity itself, but on an infinitely smaller scale. The holy body of angels is the best conductor of divine light. As an angel's body matures, it becomes able to store more energy, and the affinity for magic is also strengthened.
Augusto always wished for more power to be able to operate more magic and to be able to feel freer. With the exception of the power of light, which restricted your being and chained you to your Creator. Augusto was a talented fire wizard and a great warrior among his peers. The difference is that he spent more time in the Hall of Truth than on the battlefield, as Uriel had been.
In general, the angels were not curious and knowledge seeking creatures, the vast majority of them simply knew how to act, and these were the most outstanding, because in them the Creator's will was strong. Augusto compensated for this fact with knowledge: Theory of Magic, Philosophy of Mortals, Astrology, History of the Deities and etc ...
He was not the Lord's vessel, and he never wanted to be. The moments that the will forced him to act were always desperate. On some occasions, the will forced the angel to sacrifice himself, conjuring the magic [Sacrificium]. Augusto saw several situations like this during the Holy War. And he didn't want to die, but not because life was claimed, but because he wants knowledge. I wanted to be a great magician, and let go of the Lord.
He attended the Hall of Truth for over a thousand years. He developed his own spells and theories about the world. His battle prowess was amplified by the knowledge he had obtained, and he was admired by the lesser angels.
The Heavens were an extremely hierarchical heterogeneous society. And going up the power ladder was very difficult. The angels were separated into castes, which are:
Archangels;
Domination;
Thrones and Powers;
Seraphim;
Cherubs;
Angels, better known as minor angels.
Augusto demonstrated talent in the Holy War, exhibiting the power of a Domination, even though he was only a minor angel. And this attracted the attention of the Archangels, the Swords of Light, purest representatives of the will. They understood that Augusto distanced himself from the will, denying the light, and for this reason, sentenced him to [Purge]. However, he never distanced himself from the light, he found the branch of magic more interesting, the divine spells were extremely adaptable, they could be the sword and the shield, the cure and the curse. The only problem is that it carried the message of the Creator, and every time Augustus tried to understand more about the Light, he was blocked by the will. Augusto was betrayed by curiosity and the will to know. This sentenced him to death. Or was this what he thought ...

The Abyssal Nest was a chaotic place surrounded by darkness and mystery. A rich place that concentrated energy for life the most sinister and disgusting creatures in the Underworld. It was a large pit carved into the bones of a giant Abyssal creature known as the World—Eater. And the ancients believed that the birth of these grotesque creatures was the residue of the creature's will.
And yet another creature was about to be born. It was a simple but curious process. A small particle of matter attracted other small particles and they formed a conglomerate of energy. This energy was condensed until it formed a kind of circular shaped mass. And in a matter of minutes, an abyssal creature would hatch from this mass.
However, somewhat peculiar. The black mass had bright spots and sometimes lava was expelled. Suddenly, the mass condensed once more and then expelled a creature completely, all at once. This creature was Augusto ...
— HHAHAHAHAHA! Magic is really the most fascinating thing in my entire existence! Not even the Creator can overshadow it.
— My body felt the absolute power of [Purge], it should have removed me from the plane of existence. However, here I am, alive. I survived tyranny and punishment!
— I, Augusto, the seeker, I am finally a free creature! said the angel as he wept tears of blood. And he rejoiced and cried for three days.
After finally calming down, he opened his hands and snapped his eyes back, and tried to look around.
— I have no idea where I am, the light is scarce, I seem to be at the bottom of an abyss. But at the same time, I can see several distant stars. The good news is that mana is plentiful and that I don't have the stigma of a Fallen. Angels condemned to [Banishment] are marked with the stigma of betrayal. Those who manage to survive hunger and shame are hunted by humans and other creatures who follow the Lord.
— It is as if the will of the Light had completely abandoned my body, lost interest in me. So much so that he didn't bother to take my life. — Now I must do everything possible to survive and find out where I am.
He observed the surroundings and discovered that mysterious creatures appeared without stopping and that they started to devour each other as soon as possible. Augusto thought it strange
that none of these creatures tried to devour him. It was as if he didn't even exist.
— Although I don't know what these beings are, I can feel a high magical concentration emanating from them. And they seem to attack everything that has magical energy nearby. After reflecting on this, Augusto decided to check his own body. — Maybe that's why they are not interested in me. I have almost no magic power left. And unless I eat, I will be doomed to death in a matter of days.
— The big question is, how to feed?
The angels lived by grace, that is, divine energy that existed in abundance in Heaven. When they were on a mission abroad, they received grace in Temples or in Sacred Places.

— There is not a single particle of divine energy in this place. But mana is extremely abundant. It is so strong that the air becomes dense. I imagine that all these creatures, who are born in a place like this, must be strong and extremely resistant.
Augusto decided to walk around the Nest. It felt great to be free, but he wanted to live and needed to find a way to feed himself. Then he thought:
— Deities feed on faith or pure energy channeled through the sacrifices offered by the faithful. As I essentially have the flesh of a deity, I may be able to offer myself an offering.
The angel walked until he found a piece of what appeared to be a staff—shaped bone. It was about 1 meter and a half, similar to dark glass and it was possible to see the reflection of distant stars. Augusto picked up the bone and with great difficulty, drew a magic circle on the floor.
— Everything here seems to be extremely resistant, even the floor is hard as metal. After drawing the circle for the offering ritual, I need to find something to offer.
— The problem is that I don't have the strength to kill any of these creatures, and perhaps the combat would attract their attention to me.
The angel decided to sit down and keep what little energy he had left.
— I have enough energy for just one lesser spell. I need to use this spell and kill one of these monsters. In addition, as soon as they are born they consume other creatures and become stronger. My chance is to wait for the birth of a weak monster and slaughter it quickly, without attracting the attention of the monsters around.
The angel quieted down and kept his perception to the maximum, focusing on the creatures that were being born. He waited 1 day until the perfect opportunity arrived. A small monster was being born, it was shaped like an earthworm and averaged about 1.60 m in length.
Like most monsters in the place, the monster had no eyes or ears. Just a huge mouth and several rows of teeth.
As soon as the creature fell to the ground, Augusto moved, jumping in the air and casting the spell [Lava Spear], a rod of approximately 2 meters appeared and the angel held it, controlling his body and using all the time to impale his mouth of the worm—shaped creature. The spear penetrated deeply and smoke began to emerge from within the monster.
As he suspected, the monsters around felt the magical agitation and advanced towards Augusto.
— I need to load the creature as fast as possible into the magic circle. But I don't have enough time, the monsters around will eat me in seconds.
Pressed by the extremely complicated situation. The angel tried to think of a solution with the seconds that remained. Suddenly his black eyes flashed, and he held the spear, with the animal impaled, and darted towards the ritual circle. Second, he gathered all the strength that remained and ran to the circle, while singing the spell in ancient language.
— I offer this sacrifice to the one who freed himself from the chains of the divine. The one who carried the tome in one arm and the sword in the other. Accept this offer, Augusto the forgotten by the light.
The spear penetrated the center of the circle and the ritual was started. In a matter of seconds the monster's body disappeared completely and the angel's body was invaded by a wave of mana, which energized his being.
You have freed yourself from the divine chains! You have unlocked your magic will, now you can have access to perform magic freely! You can use the [Evaluate] spell You have obtained the energy of an abyssal monster! You have successfully executed a smaller offer!
— YES! Now I really feel alive! Exclaimed Augusto in a state of ecstasy.
— It seems that by freeing myself from divine fetters, I now have access to magic that only free creatures can conjure. — But first, I need to escape these monsters.
Augusto spread his wings, conjured a new [Lava Spear] and moved away from the center of the Nest. He wielded the spear in the mouth of the approaching monsters with great speed and force. Each blow exhibited tremendous will and mastery. The [Lava Spear] was a spell he created himself and was his main weapon during the Holy War. Although the abyssal creatures were resilient, they seemed to have no sense of combat, they were guided only by the instinct to devour and strengthen themselves.
In addition to piercing the monsters, the spear also burned the beasts' interior, which seemed to be the weak point of these creatures.
After dueling for almost two hours, he finally managed to leave the center of the Nest and found what appeared to be a cave carved into the ground.
— Now that I got a shelter, I will seal my mana in my body and use it to heal the remaining wounds. And maybe I should do what humans call sleeping. I feel that I cannot maintain the same habits as when I lived in The Heavens.
And so he did, for the first time in 1500 years of life, the angel rested.
