《Lucky SP》Chapter 12 - Uncle Jims

Tonya eyed Zero, Lucky, and Marian skeptically. "So Mr. Devlit taught you how to fight those things?" Lucky nodded. "Basically." "What basically? He taught us a path to god-hood? What alpha-humans? What spirit entities? We might as well call ourselves heavens fucking chosen ones!" Marian added passionately. "Right. This sounds real convincing coming from the only one of us who didn't have a meta-force circuit." Zero retorted lazily. "What?! You think I fucking need that shitty thing to beat your ass? Let's fucking fight right now pussy!" Marian bounced around like an angry dog barking. "So, Mr. Devlit was really there to help you?" Tonya had a strange expression on her face. 77 also felt strange. "What do you mean?" Lucky asked. "We asked the principal about Mr. Devlit the day we left and the principle said there were no records of Mr. Devlit replacing Mrs. Beck as a substitute teacher." Tonya explained. Lucky frowned "I think, Mr. Devlit might have people chasing after him." Zero nodded. "This makes sense. He wasn't able to teach us much." A heavy silence followed. Marian broke the silence. "Let's go eat some hotdogs." "Sure. I'd like to learn more about you guys." Lucky nodded. Tonya and 77 were about to immediately disagree on reflex, but after hearing what Lucky said they just silently agreed. The group left Montgomery High campus and followed Marian down the streets of downtown Chicago. Marian led them too a shady looking hotdog truck which was parked on the road side by a park. It had a sign which read: "Uncle Jim's" above it. There were small park benches nearby for eating. Marian ordered a Supreme Deluxe Special. Lucky, and Zero just ordered the same. But Tonya and 77 just ordered a bottled lemonade. The five of them sat at a park bench along the side walk. ... "Why aren't you bitches eating?" Marian mumbled as he spoke. His mouth was full from a bite of the Supreme Deluxe Special. "Hey, don't you know it's impolite to talk with your mouth full." Zero chided. "Fuck you, you're not my mother." Marian fired back. Lucky started talking. "I want to know how everyone died." The table quieted down. "Do you mean, how we could see the Bodie?" Tonya quickly caught on. Lucky nodded. "Clearly, we all have our circumstances." Zero shrugged. "Fine, but since you brought it up. You start." The table focused on Lucky. "To be honest, I can't say much." "Boring! Being mysterious is not cool." Marian mumbled while chewing. Lucky shrugged. "I can't remember much. I woke up in a morgue a few blocks down from here. My body seemed to have been used as an experiment. Lucky corpse S.O. and Lucky corpse S.Q. were next to me. " Tonya's eyes widened. "You woke up in a morgue?!" "How is that possible?!" Zero was also bewildered. Even 77 had an expression of shock on her face. "Yep." Lucky nodded. "You don't remember how you died?" Tonya probed. Lucky shook his head. "Only some small details. I remember a car crash and myself having a heart attack." Marian swallowed his food. "I told you! Being mysterious is not cool. It's always the same. People who act mysterious have nothing going for themselves, so they try to make their lives sound even just a tiny fucking bit interesting." Lucky was speechless. "When did I deliberately make myself mysterious." "I 'died' during some experiments. " Tonya interrupted their argument. "Me as well." 77 spoke softly. "Me too." Zero followed. Lucky's eyes widened. "Did all of you experience death in the same way?" "Fuck you man, I haven't. Don't ignore me!" Marian shouted. Lucky turned to Marian. "Then what happened with you?" Marian snorted. "I 'died' in juvy. There was this huge guy who wanted to fight me over his girl. She wanted my dick bad." He pointed his thumb at himself. The whole table looked at Marian with a speechless expression. Did this guy just berate Lucky's death for being ordinary? An ordinary death is better than dying a pathetic death like you did. "What the fuck is that kind of look?" Marian took another bite of his hotdog. The entire table was giving him the same look in a coordinated fashion. Lucky just ignored him and turned back to Tonya, Zero, and 77. "What do you mean when you say you 'died' during an experiment?" Lucky carefully asked. Tonya and 77 looked at each other. They glanced at Zero who was eating his hotdog and ignoring them. "We were... me, 77 and 22. We are dead products from Vanguard." Tonya answered. "And what is Vanguard?" Lucky asked. "It is an evil organization." 77 spoke up. She rarely spoke up, but her voice was very pleasant to hear. "Evil?" Lucky raised his eyebrows. "Come on, everyone has heard of Vanguard before." Marian answered. "They are the fuckers who love alpha-humans. The guys who want to bring the world into the new age." Lucky was still confused. He had heard of alpha-humans from bits of conversation, but since he couldn't remember anything past a few images before his death, he had forgotten many things. However, even though he couldn't remember many important things, after having 2 weeks of lessons with Mr. Devlit, he still had never heard of topics on alpha-humans. Perhaps, they were not of much important to metusors. Lucky finished his line of thought and continued. "I'm sorry. Tonya, can you explain to me what Vanguard is? I really don't have any memory of it." Zero joined in. "Vanguard is an elitist organization for alpha-humans. Their leader is Carlos Montero. He has an obsession of becoming the perfect alpha-human. Also for alpha-humans to start a revolution." Lucky scratched his chin in thought. "So why is it an evil organization?" He looked at 77. "Because they experiment on orphans. They will take homeless off the street too. They are merciless and treat humans as trash or live testing materials." Tonya explained. Lucky sighed. 'What a disturbing organization.'
