《Lucky SP》Chapter 11 - Fingerless Gloves

"Alright, stop for now." Mr. Devlit brought a small vial out of his pockets. It was full of a black-red ink. "My time is short and I can't stay here much longer. I'd like to give you, as I had promised, the Ghost Knife spirit tattoo since you have basic meta-force control. You worked hard." He looked at Marian meaningfully. "With this, you can defend yourselves from spirit entities if they come after you." "Now come put your arm and hand on the counter. I will get started. Marian, you first." Marian placed his hand on the counter annoyed. Mr. Devlit placed the ink vial on the counter and took out a gauze. The smell of rubbing alcohol permeated as he wiped down the back of Marian's right hand. Marian was depressed "Why am I always the lab rat? Fuck" Mr. Devlit ignored him and took out a special looking tattooing instrument. He dipped it into the red-black blood ink and concentrated heavily to create the Ghost Knife spirit circuit on the back of Marian's right hand. Lucky and Zero looked at each other and shuddered as Marian cried from the pain. 'They say tattoos hurt the most, where bone is closest to the skin.' One hour later, all of them finished getting the spirit circuit tattoos on the back's of their right hands. A triangle with two horns on each side of the point faced towards their fingers. A skull was skillfully drawn on the inside of the triangle. Unintelligible script was written along the insides of the triangle. "Don't rub it or let it get wet for the next week. You also need to let your meta-force flow through the spirit circuit each day for the next 3 days to solidify the connection." Mr. Devlit wiped the sweat from his brow and put away tattoo tools. Lucky and Zero nodded. "This better be fucking worth it." Marian unconsciously reached to rub the back of his sore hand but stopped himself. "It is. Oh I almost forgot." Mr. Devlit took out 3 pairs of fingerless leather gloves. A maroon red, dark green, and deep blue. "It is better to hide spirit circuits from prying eyes. They might look like ordinary tattoos to normal people, but intelligent spirit entities can be very troublesome when they notice it." Mr. Devlit placed the fingerless gloves on the tile floor in front of where they were sitting. Without saying much, lucky reached for the red gloves. Marian also reached for them at the same time. "Hey! These are my gloves. Red is domineering color. It is perfect for me: the God of War Marian." Marian smirked. "If you want them, have them." Lucky waved his hand and grabbed the green ones. "Pussy." Marian scoffed and sounded a little disappointed Lucky didn't try to argue with him. Lucky shrugged. Zero smiled. "Then blue is fated to be with me." Marian eyed Lucky's gloves as he put them on his hands. *Ahem "Lucky trade those gloves with mine. I'v decided green is the most domineering color. Red doesn't suit my style as the God of War Marian." Lucky was speechless. "Fine." Lucky took off the gloves. Marian took both the red and green gloves and compared them. Lucky just didn't care anymore. "Just keep them both." Lucky came over to Zero. "Are you using both of your gloves? Let me have one." Zero shrugged lazily and handed him a blue glove. Marian watched as this happened. "Fuck. I've decided I need the blue gloves. The blue gloves will let me appear as the God of War Marian." Zero and Marian looked at each other before looking at Marian with a gaze of pity. "Alright, alright, kid just be content with your gloves" Mr. Devlit rubbed his eyes. Marian snorted and put a red glove on his right hand and a green on his left. Zero, Lucky, and Mr. Devlit were speechless. Lucky pulled the blue fingerless glove over his right hand to gently cover the spirit circuit. Mr. Devlit dispelled the isolation field surrounding the classroom. He walked out without looking back. "Don't look for me." 'Be kids for a while longer.' he muttered in his heart. ... After Mr. Devlit's departure. Zero, Marian, and Lucky walked into the principals office. They had been inside an isolation field when they were attending Mr. Devlit's class. So the principle thought they had been skipping classes. He informed them they had been officially transferred to Mr. Austin's class a week ago. He warned them, if they were tardy any longer they would no longer be able to continue as a part of the special orphan recovery program. They hurried to Mr. Austin's classroom and entered the class. "And this is why the Fibonacci sequence is-- " Mr. Austin paused as the door opened. He was a tall and skinny man. He wore a collared and neatly dressed uniform. Had demeanor which was of a no-nonsense teacher. His eyes looked over the three of them. "Zero, Marian, and Lucky. Tardy." He announced. He pointed his chin to the back seats. They were next to Tonya and 77, who were curiously looking over at the three of them. "You'll find your seats in the back." He then continued his explanation on the Fibonacci sequence while Lucky, Zero, and Marian sat down. 77 passed a note to Lucky. 'Where did "Mr. Devlit" go? - Tonya' Lucky glanced at Tonya. She looked like she was seriously paying attention to the explanation of the Fibonacci sequence. She was even taking notes. He then turned to 77 and passed the note back. 77 opened it before Tonya could read it. She was slightly curious. 'He left. Got tired of Marian. - Lucky' 77, who was always cold, smiled slightly. She passed the note on to Tonya and then paid attention for the rest of class. ... Time passed quickly in the classroom. The five of them had just left Mr. Austin's class and many students passed them by to the car pickup area to go home. Except for those in the special recovery class, they all walked towards the dorm building.
