The man wore a black vest over blue sleeved turtleneck. His raspy voice continued. "Student's of orphan special recovery class 309. Nice to meet you all. My name is Garen Devlit. Call me Mr. Devlit." He paused to scan the room. "Right. I'm sure you have questions. Be patient. Let me first say this." Mr. Devlit's gaze became serious. "If you'd like to continue living an ordinary life after what has happened yesterday, I can tell you it will be impossible." Silence pervaded room 309. Marian shouted. "Motherfucker, do you think we've lived normal lives before this?" Mr. Devlit's mouth twitched. "Kid, you've got a toxic mouth." "Well, anyways. Let's get started." Mr. Devlit brought his hands together and held his hands in a triangle like pattern. "Spirit Technique: Isolation Field" Red-black energy surrounded his hands and blew up like a bubble from the triangular outline his hands formed. It grew quickly until it bumped into the walls of the room. The entire inner classroom was outlined in a thin dark-red film. "What did you just do?" Tonya asked. "Hello everyone, once again I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Garen Devlit, a Rank B metusor with Metanoia. " Marian gritted his teeth. "Okay? How the fuck are we supposed to know what any of that means?" Mr. Devlit glared at Marian. "Brat, let me finish speaking. Don't interrupt." "Metusor's are practitioners of the meta-force arts. We make use of the meta-force our souls and bodies are in contact with to generate power." Mr. Devlit paused and then continued. "Metanoia is the organization I am a part of. It's a loose organization for metusors. " Mr. Devlit finished. Zero poked the think film of the Isolation Field with his finger. "Is this thing called meta-force?" "Well, no. That thing is just a basic spirit technique which anyone with meta-force can create called the isolation film. It is a part of the isolation field technique." Mr. Devlit walked over and patted Zero's shoulder. "I'd like to know each your names as well. Why don't you start?" Tonya stood up from her desk before Zero could introduce himself. "What if I want to leave? Can I leave from this barrier?" Mr. Devlit turned. "Yes, it just isolates us to prevent eavesdroppers and spies. Anyone with meta-force within their bodies can enter and leave easily." "I'd like to leave." Tonya gather her belongings and 77 followed immediately after. "Well... you are free to leave. But remember what I said. From this moment onwards, it is impossible for your life to be ordinary. " Tonya and 77 left. They passed through the isolation barrier with ease, surprising Lucky and everyone else who was there. "Hello, Mr. Devlit, my name is Zero" Zero spoke up. "Mr. Devlit, do we have meta-force in our bodies like you mentioned?" Zero asked, watching Tonya and 77 pass through the isolation film. Mr. Devlit nodded. "Very good. You are correct. Each of you have varying degrees of meta-force with your bodies. This is why you could see the Bodie spirit entity, and also why your lives can never be normal again." "Isn't it a good thing to be able to see those fucking monsters? I don't want to die without knowing what killed me." Marian cursed. Mr. Devlit smirked. "You would think so. But spirit entities form from meta-force, feed on meta-force, and grow from meta-force. Each of you have meta-force within you already. To spirit entities, you are a highly attractive meal." Lucky frowned. 'We attract things like that?' "Hello Mr. Devlit, my name is Lucky." Lucky said slowly. "Mr. Devlit, why is this the first time I'm hearing about this?" Mr. Devlit nodded. "True, well this is because it is rare to awaken meta-force. Because meta-force is only generated at the time of your death. And in order for a metusor to be born, he must die once and survive." Lucky's eyes widened. 'This.. makes sense. But does this mean Tonya, 77, Zero, and Marian have all died like me?' Lucky snuck a glimpse at each of them, but they were looking around at everyone as well. It seems everyone was thinking the same thing. Zero raised his hand. His normal laziness which Lucky normally saw on him, was no where to be seen. He seemed to have suddenly become a teachers pet. "Mr. Devlit, can you teach me the technique you used to kill the Bodie?" Mr. Devlit shook his head. "Sorry kid, meta-force techniques are person specific. And for us metusors, it is rare to have a meta-force circuit." He paused. "But I can definitely teach everyone here spirit techniques. They don't rely on genetic circuits. And just use meta-force." Marian snorted. Mr. Devlit ignored him and walked back to the front of the class. "Alright, I've said what needs to be said. Mrs. Beck will be back here tomorrow to teach those two girls. The school has agreed to let me borrow room 310 next door for the next 2 weeks. I don't have much time on my hands so this is as much as I can spare to help you kids." His eyes carried a hint of pity. His gaze seemed to say 'I used to be like you all'. "Ooh right, rude kid with the toxic mouth. Tell me your name." Mr. Devlit remembered and looked at Marian. "Fuck you old man, you have a toxic mouth. I'm called Marian. It's like Mars, the God of War." Marian's eyes gleamed excitedly. Mr. Devlit shook his head and formed a triangle again with his hands. "Spirit Technique: Isolation Field Release" Another bubble spread out from his hands again and the red film at the edges of the classroom dissolved into red-black particles. "Then if you please, let's go to the next room." Mr. Devlit gestured. Zero, Marian, and Lucky all followed Mr. Devlit into room 310. ... Tonya and 77 were walking towards the principals office, when 77 spoke. "Tonya, why did we leave early?" "Remember our promise 77. Never trust anyone mysterious. That man seemed so powerful. If we had stayed, we would end up like we did in Vanguard. The strong either oppress the weak, or control them." 77 nodded. Tonya and 77 notified the principle of their want to leave class 309 and request a change of substitute teacher. But they were surprised to find out, there was no substitute teacher named Mr. Devlit scheduled to replace Mrs. Beck today.
