《Gokaiku: I Got Reincarnated, But It Wasn't How I Thought It Would Be!!》Chapter 29: Finally, A Cliche

A new morning had arrived once again, and just like in Galderia, the crowd was already busy even though it was still so early in the morning.
Huwaaahhhh
And just like when I was still in Galderia, I greeted the new morning with a lengthy yawn whilst stretching my arms.
Hmm... I wonder what's for breakfast today.
While thinking about that kind of thing, I prepared myself for the day. I entered the bath, washed myself, wore my adventurer outfit, and checked my equipments and inventory.
I then checked up on Yuna's room if she was already awake. And color me surprised, she wasn't.
She really didn't hold herself back. She's usually up about 15 minutes before me, but now she's still sound asleep.
Well, she might have been forcing herself before, so I guess I'll just let her be. I just wish she doesn't sleep too much, we still have things to do after all.
Twenty minutes after I left her alone, Yuna woke up, and with a panicked face, she prepared herself for the day. Usually, it would take her about half an hour to do so, but today, she did it in less than 20 minutes.
「Geez, why didn't you wake me up?」Yuna
「No reason, I just want you to enjoy your sleep.」Grey
「Grey, I know you said that I shouldn't hold myself back, but you should also know when to scold me. At this rate, I'll really become spoilt.」Yuna
「Alright, then I'll wake you up next time.」Grey
Well, if I'm not also oversleeping, that is.
Leaving that talk about oversleeping aside, the breakfast here in the Blue Spring is also quite delicious. If I compare it to the one served at the Rabbit's Den, I guess I can call them equal.
I wonder, do the foods served in the inns here in Merusia always taste good?
After we ate our breakfast, we then headed to the adventurer's guild as per usual. Although it was our first time heading there, we didn't get lost, thanks to the guards' instructions yesterday.
But I gotta say, the difference between a city and a town's adventurer's guild is huge. The one in Galderia is easily 50% larger than Moterno's, and how do I say this... it was more gaudy?
When we entered, we were once again greeted by different kinds of adventurers like when we first entered Galderia's adventurer's guild. But what's more interesting is the internal arrangement of the guild. It was arranged similarly to how Galderia's guild was. It made me think that it was designed so that adventurer's can adapt easily. It was the most logical explanation after all,
We wanted to head to the counter but there was a long line in front of us, so instead, Yuna and I checked out the quests being posted in the quest board, when suddenly, something I didn't expect to happen happened. It was...
「Hey, Brats, what are you doing here!?」???
... a cliche.
Ahh... I was wondering when I would encounter one. But I didn't think I'd have to travel to another town first. Also, this guy reeks of alcohol.

With the drunkard's loud voice, the attention of everyone in the guild was shifted to us, some looked with a smile on their face, obviously wanting entertainment, some looked at us with concern, and some who looked at us with... fear?
Oh, I think I've seen those guys back in Galderia. Are they also here for the labyrinth's opening?
「Hey! I'm talking to you!」???
「Ah, sorry, I got distracted by something. What were you saying again?」Grey
「You brat...」???
After hearing my response to the drunkard threatening us, the commotion in the guild got even louder. Some laughed while some looked at us with pity.
「Those brats are finished.」
「Yeah, trying to talk back to Boros-san like that...」
「Hey, someone stop them!」
「Do it yourself! We don't wanna get involved!」
But among them, there was a comment which stood out from the others...
「That guy is doomed, threatening the Grim Reaper like that...」
... and that comment came from an adventurer we've seen at Galderia.
Ahh... This is annoying... I wonder how I can teach this guy a lesson without getting a penalty. I wouldn't want my rank to decrease after all.
「Hey, stop ignoring me!」Boros
Boros tried to grab me by collar, but before he could, I dodged his assault with a simple sidestep. And because he wasn't successful, his hostility towards me increased by leaps and bounds.
「Receptionist-san, is there a place in the guild where we fight it out?」Grey
I glanced at the receptionist nearest to us and asked her a question. And of course, because of what I said, the commotion got even louder.
「Hey, did you hear that? That brat's challenging Boros-san.」
「That kid's got some guts.」
「He should have backed out when he had the chance.」
「Boros-san is a D-ranker after all.」
Hearing the adventurers' response, the receptionist I asked was in trouble as to how to answer my question, but she still answered us honestly.
「Umm... there isn't.」Receptionist
Haah... I knew it. After all, there wasn't such a thing imprinted on my『Memory』. I was just hoping that something changed in 3 years. Guess all my hopes were in vain.
I guess I have no other choice but to use that.
「Receptionist-sans, please brace yourselves.」Grey
「Eh?」Receptionist
Even though the receptionists didn't understand what I meant, they still did what they were told and braced themselves.
Here goes...
「Those eyes! Everybody, brace yourselves!」
Learning from experience, an adventurer from Galderia warned the other adventurers of what was going to happen. A few seconds later, I released my aura and directed it towards Boros.
Boros, receiving the pressure from my aura couldn't withstand it, and fainted with his mouth frothing. And because of that one adventurer's warning, the others managed to prepare themselves and withstand it.
Hmm... I even held back my aura to match that of a B-ranker, but he still fainted. Was it because he was drunk?
After that little exhibition of mine, everyone in the guild looked at us in a new light, no rather than that, it's more like they're looking at us with fear.

「He shouldn't have challenged the Grim Reaper.」
「You guys know those kids?」
「Yeah, they're pretty famous in Galderia's guild for reaching C-rank in less than a month after registering.」
「C-rank... You've gotta be kidding me.」
「Can you still say it's a joke after witnessing that.」
「You're right...」
Yep, right now, I can tell that no one's going to bother us for the time being.
While I was thinking of such useless thoughts, I noticed someone pulling my shirt sofly to the side. It was Yuna.
「Something wrong?」Grey
「You should have let me handle that.」Yuna
Yuna said, pouting.
Cute.
「Sorry... Then how about you handle it next time?」Grey
「If you say so...」Yuna
「Boros! What do you think you're doing!?」???
While Yuna and I were having our little chat, a woman suddenly barged inside the lobby as if she was trying to stop something from happening. But when she noticed how peaceful the guild was, her face was filled with confusion, and an awkward silence filled the guild.
「Um... Didn't you say there was a commotion?」???
The woman asked the one behind her, but since that person also had no idea what happened, she wasn't able to answer it.
「Umm... Guildmaster, it's already over.」Receptionist
「Over? Did Boros back out?」Guildmaster
「No, he's over there.」Receptionist
The receptionist pointed to the unconscious Boros lying on the floor. And when the guildmaster saw Boros, she looked even more confused.
「Did he pass out from drinking too much?」Guildmaster
「No, he was done in by that kid.」Receptionist
The receptionist turned to our direction, and following her lead, the guildmaster did the same.
「You're not joking, are you?」Guildmaster
「No.」Receptionist
The guildmaster didn't believe the receptionist's words immediately and looked at the other receptionist in order to confirm it, and to her surprise, all the receptionists' responses were the same.
「Umm... you two, can you come with me to my office?」Guildmaster
And as per the guildmaster's request, Yuna and I went with her to her office without asking any question.
Somehow, even though this is our first time meeting, I already know that she means us no harm. And also, even if she does...

... I don't think she has the ability to.
「Umm... First of all, I would like to apologize for one of our adventurer's actions. I know this is a selfish request, but I ask of you to forgive him.」Althea
「Ah, don't worry about it, no one was hurt anyways.」Grey
「Un, he was too weak to harm us.」Yuna
「I... see...」Althea
"Weak?! He was a D-ranker, you know?! A D-ranker!"
I could practically hear what the guildmaster was thinking just by reading the expression on her face. She was too transparent.
「A-Anyway, why don't we introduce ourselves first. My name is Althea, a D-ranker. I also happen to be this branch's guildmaster. A pleasure to meet you.」Althea
「I'm Grey of the B-rank party "Blizzard" from Galderia's branch, It's also a pleasure.」Grey
「And I'm Yuna of the same party. Also a B-rank adventurer like Grey. Nice to meet you too.」Yuna
「B-B-B-rank!? Forgive me for my rudeness!」Althea
Upon learning of our identities, Althea-san panicked and quickly bowed her head before us.
Ah... This again... Looks like the peerage rank of a B-ranker really has a high degree of effect towards others. It was really annoying.
If I have learnt about this beforehand, we wouldn't have taken that promotion exam...
Haah... There's no us lamenting over it now. We just need to deal with this...
「Umm... Althea-san, please raise your head. We're not really good with formalities, so just act normal towards us.」Grey
「But... But...」Althea
「It's alright, we don't really mind.」Grey
「Then... is it fine call you Yuna-chan and Grey-kun?」Althea
「I'm fine with it.」Grey
「Un.」Yuna
「So... Why did you call us here?」Grey
I asked, thinking there was another reason as to why she called us over other than an apology, but...
「Huh? I just wanted to apologize.」Althea
... sometimes fate could be playful.
After that, Yuna and I didn't ask any further questions. It might be rude, but we just got a feeling that if ever we did, we won't get a good answer out of it.
「Thank you for your time. Please enjoy your stay here in Moterno!」Althea
「Un.」Yuna
After we left the office, we went to the lobby and there, we saw two familiar faces looking at the quests posted by the quest board.
「Kris-san! Aria-san! You're here.」Grey
「Huh? Grey? Yuna?」Kris
「Un, but what's with that surprised face?」Yuna
「Ah, I was just surprised you arrived here before us. Did you two perhaps take the forest route too?」Kris
「Yeah. It was way faster that way. Ah by the way, Kris-san, do you two have an inn already?」Grey
「No, we just arrived and we thought that we'll check the guild first.」Kris
「Grey-kun, do you know one?」Aria
「Ah, yes. Although it's pricier than usual, it's really worth it.」Grey
「There's a hot bath!」Yuna
After our short exchange, the four of us left the guild. Yuna and I then led the two of them towards the Blue Spring and introduced them to Mira-san, who welcomed them energetically.
After that, Yuna and I separated ways with the two of them and we went to the marketplace. A place filled with a haven of food, ingredients, and interesting things.
「There sure are a lot of things here that we didn't see in Galderia... Grey, let's try all of them!」Yuna
「Sure.」Grey
「Then let's go find some ingreー」Yuna
Yuna was about to ask me to shop for ingredients, but before she could finish her sentence, we encountered yet another cliche.
「Help! Somebody, help!!!」???

Nowhere Stars
For as long as anyone can remember, humans have been preyed upon by Harbingers, living nightmares which devour dreams and passions and souls, and defended by Keepers. These children alone hold the gift of magic, the wild and wondrous ability to impose emotions over reality and empower their frail bodies with the splendor of their souls. Under their protection, humanity was able to survive and thrive. While modern Keepers have come to enjoy a social position somewhere between celebrities and religious idols, very few accept the mantle simply to be a hero. The Messengers of the Goddess Claiasya, spirits charged with awakening the magic in suitable souls, promise that Keepers who consume and purify enough Harbingers will obtain the power to change themselves or the world in nearly any way they wish. It’s for this purpose that Liadain Shiel, a young girl born terminally ill, throws herself into life as a Keeper when her opportunity comes, hoping against hope to rewrite her fate and save her life while she still can. 8 109I, Mor-eldal: The Necromancer Thief
As a budding little necromancer, I soon discovered that the world of city people is complicated. When my master kicked me out of the cave, he warned me not to talk about my “dark” magic, because people here don't like the undead. I am not really an undead, I just have a skeleton hand, but it is better to be careful. Anyway, that's not my biggest worry. In the Black Dagger brotherhood, I learn a lot of things, such as illusionist magic, which turns out to be quite handy to survive in this maze of streets: in the Cat Quarter, we have thugs of all kinds that are best avoided. But we also have good people, goodhearted “gwaks”, as we say around here. Little did I know that I would soon be caught up in an infamous traffic that would entangle my life even more. With a mix of lighthearted adventure and picaresque, this story narrates the hectic life of a good-spirited street child and his companions in a medieval urban fantasy setting with some nineteenth-century influences. Updates Mondays and Fridays. This is a Creative Commons By work. It is a translation of a trilogy I wrote in Spanish between 2017 and 2018.
