《Reborn: Last Chance to Ascend》54. Purge, part 3

I was moving like a torpedo splashing foul-smelling water everywhere around me. Auras kept moving fast in a distance of a tunnel, but I was slowly decreasing the distance between us.
Suddenly auras speeded up a bit, 'Hmm, they probably heard me.'
A few moments passed, and I finally saw a movement in the dark sewer tunnel.
"Bzuum", a small orange spot appeared in the distance before turning into the beam of concentrated flames.
It was impossible to move aside to dodge with my speed, so I just let it hit my barrier. The beam hit my barrier, creating an inferno at the surface of my barrier.
Around fifteen per cent of my barrier vanished at the moment, 'Shit, it was stronger than I thought.'
Without slowing down, I aimed my staff forward and released an even brighter beam of solar matter. It lightened up a whole tunnel and turned all water it flew above into steam while moving into the distance, where it met with a massive shining blue spot.
Without stopping, I kept releasing my beam, carefully aiming not to hit walls or a ceiling of the tunnel.
Another orange spot appeared in a distance before another beam came from enemies.
As my barrier was already lowered from my previous fight, I interrupted my casting and blinked to the side, letting a beam pass by me into the tunnel behind me.
'How are they still alive after my beam? They should be already burned into cinders. Are they that strong? If it so, I should be careful.' I quickly analysed the situation.
"Quickly blow the ceiling to stop her!" Came a loud shout from two closing auras.
Another bright orange spot formed, but this time it flew towards the ceiling of the tunnel, creating an explosion of heat.
The ceiling cracked with a rumbling sound, and the mass of stones and dirt started to fall down.
I quickly cast and [Penetrating Scan] before disappearing with blink towards an undamaged part of a tunnel behind the mass of stones and dirt.

'What the hell? How long is this tunnel?'
In the distance, I saw a glowing red spot of stone where my spell hit the end of the tunnel. My targets turned to the left into the side tunnel. I spread my wings, and I used them to move even faster.
I flew through the tunnel like an arrow until l reached the same side tunnel as my targets. Both of their auras were standing still without moving.
I sneered inwardly, 'So they are preparing ambush? Too bad that I noticed.' and abruptly stopped just right before the corner.
Then I cast a [Penetrating Scan], and the shape of the tunnel behind the corner appeared in my mind. After that, I recast [Camuflage]. Space around my deformed, and I appeared in the side tunnel while being translucent.
Both of the enemies were turned towards an entrance into the main tunnel, ignoring happenings behind them.
I grinned as I ejected my claws and launched myself forwards with a [Wind Dash].
With my claws fully extended, I launched myself towards an enemy. It was an old man with white hair and beard, and his whole face was covered in wrinkles. He turned back towards me, but it was already too late as I was only a meter away from him. A surprised expression appeared on his face as he screamed in horror.
A barrier made out of flames appeared around him. My claws easily penetrated through it and stabbed through his neck, severing his spine and veins.
Blood spurted out, turning dirty water into a red colour.
The second enemy swung a massive halberd towards me in panic. I retaliated with my claws, easily cutting through a heavy-looking metallic pol of halberd.
After that, I blinked and appeared right behind an enemy who was still staggered from the loss of his weapon and stabbed my claws towards the back of his head.
My claws pierced his skull, and his body fell into the dirty water. As I wanted to breathe out, I noticed that there was no announcement from my system.

Then a massive wave of flames came from behind me, splitting around my barrier, quickly draining it. Wave ended as abruptly as it came, and I looked towards a location where I killed the old man.
He was standing again. His whole body was burning with flames, and a massive tail made out of flames kept moving behind his back.
"Hahaha. You shall burn in my flames. My flames will heal me and burn you." With a voice full of madness old man shouted through the severs before he waved his hand, releasing another wave of flames.
'To think that he had such a trump card...'
I blinked, and flames harmlessly hit my previous location. Six miniature sun-like orbs of magenta colour appeared in front of me before flying towards the old man. Simultaneously I fired a magenta coloured arc of lightning from the tip of my staff. All of them hit a barrier of flames surrounding the old man. His flames briefly dimmed down, letting lighting hit him directly, causing ugly rotting wounds thought his body.
His flames brightened up again, flowing in an extra intensity around his wounds, burning away rot and nether energy while regrowing his tissue.
"Hahahaha, my flames shall burn forever!!!"
'Yep, he definitely went nuts... Still, I need to destroy him totally in one go, or he will keep regenerating. Hmm, maybe it is limited by his MP, but who knows. It is safer to do it quickly before he pulls some other trump card out of his ass.'
Aiming my staff at him, I fired a magenta beam that brightly illuminated the whole sever tunnel and turned all walls into a bright red. I wasn't very afraid of collapsing the tunnel on me as my barrier would protect me from a weight of stones, and with my [Penetrating Blink], I would be able to quickly get out of the rubble.
The old man sent his own beam of pure bright orange flames towards my beam. Both of them met, creating a massive explosion in the place where they collided. Water in all surroundings immediately evaporated and filled the tunnel with steam.
"Crack!" walls of the tunnel started to crack under the shockwave and heat.
Beams kept pushing against each other, turning surroundings into a bunch of molten stones. Both of the beams kept getting thicker and brighter as time went on.
Magenta coloured beam started to push a beam of flames back towards an old man. His flames kept getting dimmer and dimmer with each second as his mana kept pouring out in the form of a massive beam.
My MP was decreasing at a rapid pace, too, but my reserve was much bigger than that of an old man.
I pushed even more mana into a spell circuit, and my beam grew brighter once again. Violent energy started to explode out of its surface like solar flares from a surface of the sun, destroying the walls of the tunnel.
Boulders followed by the dirt started to fall from the ceiling. Magenta coloured beam finally pushed a flame beam all the way towards an old man. The bright beam enveloped the old man's body before its disintegration.
The beam continued and hit the wall behind him, and finally, with a thundering sound whole tunnel started to collapse.
I quickly cast a scan and blinked to the surface, where I spread my wings and floated into the air.
Street under me sunk with a cloud of dust as a tunnel under it collapsed.
Ding! Finally, a system confirmed my victory.
