《Reborn: Last Chance to Ascend》53. Purge, part 2

Magical energy around a light man kept whirling in such condensation that it looked like a tornado made out of the light.
'Idiot, does he really think that I will let him cast without bothering?'
Four spheres of magenta solar matter formed in front of me and started to orbit me. Then I poured even more mana, and four more spheres appeared and joined the rest of the orbiting [Death-Sun Solarbomb]'s.
With a swing of the hand, I sent all of them flying towards a light man. In the meantime, I started to pour out pure plasma while using a [Plasmakinesis] to gather it around me.
Suddenly a winged man appeared speeding towards my [Death-Sun Solarbomb]s and swung his sword towards the two closest to him. His sword glowed in brilliant blue light, and when it touched the sphere of solar matter, they quickly started to decrease in size before disappearing.
However, six other solar bombs already passed by the winged man and continued towards a light man who looked towards them but remained standing on a spot.
Fireballs almost reached him when a barrier appeared around him, intercepting all solar bombs. Six magenta solar flares exploded in close succession, sending small shockwaves through the ruined building.
With a look of determination, a winged man spread his wings and speeded up towards me with a glow on his sword, increasing every moment. When he was only five meters from me, his whole body swelled up, growing almost to twice his original size.
I redirected a portion of plasma towards him.
Plasma moved like a sea wave during a storm, and he brought his sword up forward. A wave of plasma reached his sword splitting around its blade-like water around a stone.
The Winged man glowed in orange light, repelling plasma away from his body.
I used a [Telekinesis] and pushed again with even greater pressure.
The sound of gritting teeth came to me as the winged man stopped mid-air bracing with his swords against a plasma. With each second amount of my plasma kept decreasing together with a brilliance of glow surrounding man's sword.

Then I vanished, the enemy with his whole view obscured by my plasma didn't notice before I appeared right behind him with my claws covered in magenta flames fully erected. I stabbed with them towards a place where should be a hearth.
Man instinctively reacted with a gasp and movement to the side. But he was too slow. My long claw reached his back and pierced through the orange glow, his skin and bones without any resistance. They reached his heart-piercing it while exploding in flames.
"Aghh," man let out the last sound before he limply fell from a sky.
"One more to go!" I loudly announced, causing a light man to look directly at me. His face was surprisingly young and fully covered in sweat. His eye kept glowing a shining white light as a light attributed mana poured through his whole body.
I waved my hand, and all of the plasma around me ejected itself towards a light man. His eyes opened wide, and a mana construct around him collapsed as he launched it prematurely to counter my attack.
A wave of a shiny brilliant light met with a wave of magenta plasma, mixing with each other while annihilating pieces of each other in a violent storm. A wave of energy generated by a battle of elements spreads to the surrounding, turning surrounding stones under a wind-down into molten lava.
My mana started to decrease rapidly as a wind dome started to absorb immense heat and light.
Light man's whole body started to tremble under immense pressure while he kept crying in an attempt to bolster all of his will to keep light pouring, "Ahhhh!"
Soon like a toy that ran out of batteries, his body collapsed, and waves of light pouring out of him vanished. Plasma quickly moved forwards filling a space previously occupied by the light. It reached a collapsed light man almost instantly.
Plasma enveloped his body before it disintegrated in heat.

I swept through the ruins with my gaze. Only two auras were remaining. Both of them were underground. They were moving around, making me assume that they weren't buried under the ruins but that they were instead in some kind of underground space.
I wanted to dig towards them with my spells, but then I realised something and looked in a direction from where came three attackers, and there it was. Small looking stairs covered in still cooling down lava were there.
'I will go check it. I really want to know what are they hiding there. Maybe I will find some treasures or some secret spell books... Nah, I know that I am expecting too much, but one needs to dream.'
I moved my hand and sent out a sweep of cold wind, cooling down the whole ruins. Then I landed close to the stairs and slowly walked towards them.
Torches were extinguished during an attack, so the staircase was covered in darkness as I slowly descended downstairs.
There was such eerie silence that each of my steps resonated through the surrounding like thunder.
I kept descending deeper and deeper until a light appeared on a small corridor one floor under me. I carefully entered a corridor and continued walking until I spotted that a few stones on the floor were glowing in a dim magical aura.
'Is it trap? I wasn't really expecting something as stupid as placing traps into the middle of the corridor. That is like asking for a horrible accident to happen.' I shook my head and stepped over the stone.
I walked down the corridor avoiding trapped stones in the floor until I reached an open room. Wooden boxes were over the whole room, together with empty shelves and a circle of the burned floor in the middle of the room.
'As expected, they already burned all of their papers.'
I quickly looked for the auras, and I found two of them quickly moving away.
'Huh? They are escaping...' I frowned while casting a [Penetrating Scan] to search for any secret passage. My magical energy spread through the surrounding penetrating walls, sending a 3D image of the surrounding into my mind.
'There is definitely a tunnel behind this wall.'
I blinked to the tunnel behind a wall. A thick, putrid smell filled my nostrils, and some liquid filled my boots. Everything was dark, but I could see fine as I saw in a much broader spectrum than that of visible light.
I almost gauged as I realised my situation, 'I teleported into dirty sewers... And I got that shit into my boots. At least this explains how they were moving so far underground. They were using sewers to move around a city.'
Auras kept moving, distancing from me, so I put all of my strength into my legs while using a [Wind Dash] and launched myself like a torpedo in the direction of auras.

The sea of stars. The momentaneous lifeforms that flicker far away. Our futures — a sea brimming with light. Each and every shimmer in the starry canvas serves as one’s infinite opportunities in the vast sea of the future. On a once unremarkable day, a mysterious girl displayed powers beyond the capabilities of humans in front of many onlookers who knew only the ordinary: Powers of Ice creation. Riki, a normal young man in the midst of the crowd, was astonished to see such a spectacle, but this astonishment quickly transforms into dismay. From the appearance of calm, yet scorching blue flames, he realized the sole reason she was using powers in the first place was to only protect herself from two who have possession of powers akin to hers. And in failing to do so, the last thing Riki saw was the angst look in her eyes before she disappeared from his sight. That was the only one remaining memory he can recall. Thrusted into an organization filled with supernatural stargazers, Riki's only goal is to retake everything back: a journey to take back both his past and his future. Through this journey, it will mean to discover the underlying truths of the world. Any illustrations I use for covers and chapters are illustrations I have drawn myself unless otherwise stated.

There is a common line of questioning that falls upon students within their first moments at Kingsly. “Why?”. The student asks, “Why am I here?”. This is a futile line of questioning. There are those who remember, and those who do not. I’ll spare you the technical explanation — that’s what we have teachers for. The jist is as follows: those who remember are... how do I put this... more likely. They occupy more time. and the space that time has allowed them — the pertinent amount — is experienced no matter what. Allow me to offer you a bit of personal information: I am not one who remembers. There is no time relevant to me, no space that I occupy. I exist by carving myself here, and continue to exist in the same fashion. You would do well to follow suit. Why am I here? Because I force myself to be. Because the universe, the universes, for all its kicking and screaming, cannot escort me out.
