《Reborn: Last Chance to Ascend》19. Heist Preparation

I was sitting behind a table at the ground level of the house. On chairs, opposite of mine were sitting Rose and Gregory. Both of them were looking directly at me.
“We have a problem. That coward Sulivan suppressed his ego and called for reinforcements. Paladin and squad of crusaders arrived into the city.” Gregory said in a bored voice.
“Will it change anything?” I wasn’t sure how big of a problem that was. I continued, “Wouldn’t we just had to delay our plan to overtake this city for a while and lay low?”
Rose hurriedly joined the conversation. “You don’t get it. Their powers are greater than your average church soldier. They can feel miasma even with us wearing our rings. Luckily it’s only in the range of few meters, but many of our sisters and brothers will get captured, tortured and executed.
Rose took a break to breathe out, and Gregory replaced her as he spoke to me, “You are wrong. We need to hurry up our plans, not delay them. We need to get stronger, and to do that, we need more artifacts, spell scrolls and magic grimoires.”
“Ohhh, I get it you want me to use my contract with a dungeon to get you these”
In a monotonous voice, Gregory spoke again, “No, you are wrong once again. Resources of dungeons would be better used to build an army. We will steal what we need from the underground vault where the church keeps confiscated items.”
Filled with excitement, I thought, ‘So we will be doing heist with some complicated plan full of twists… That sound amazing...’
“So, what is our plan?” I asked full expectation of a long explanation.
“We will blow up entrance with alchemical bombs and kill all guards before escaping into the slum where we will disperse” Gregory totally destroyed my expectations with his brute force plan.
“Can’t we just blow up a door with my plasma?”
Rose gave me the answer, “No, it is too violent, creating a risk of destroying what we came from. ”

“We will attack in two days. Make your preparations until then. Your combat equipment will be delivered here in few hours.” Gregory stood up and walked away.
Some time passed, and I was comfortably sitting on my bed in my room, preparing to create my new spell. I started to focus, and patterns that spells were made of showed up in my mind. Lines of unknown symbols forming weird geometrical shapes glowing in multiple colours. Some of these colours couldn’t even exist in the normal world. It was weird, but once you got an understanding of it, it was just like nay programing language on earth. My mind accessed the pattern of [Chanelled Death Ligtning] and copied it. Next, I removed the whole aligning part from the spell and replaced it with plasma. Then I checked the pattern of [Plasmaball I]. An hour passed as I analysed its composition until I knew how to improve the stability of plasma spells. I applied this to my new spells together with the light attribute, which was nicely synergising with plasma as the glow of patterns increased. It was like these two attributes wanted to merge and create a new one but were still missing something. I ignored it as I had no idea what it needed. My mind flew towards a part of the pattern signalizing the impact of the spell. The new geometrical shape formed out of lines appeared as I hooked the explosion on the impact pattern from [Deathflame Firebomb]. I made few calculations and found out that the current mana input into the spell would be insufficient to power it up, so I Increased it by changing two symbols in a triangle-like shape. This created a new problem as the current magical patterns weren’t capable of handling so much mana. So I had to reinforce them. An hour passed, and I finished reinforcing the spell pattern. That made it much harder to cast, but it made no difference for me with my [Chantless Casting]. The spell was finished.

The spell is not in the system database
Please name your spell
A massive grin appeared on my face as I could name my spell however I wanted. Eventually, I decided how to name it “Your name will be [Destruction Beam]”. Someone would call it childish or even stupid, but to me, it was an accurate name for my new spell.

System Announcement
[Destruction Beam III] has been added to your spell list
As a reward for creating a new (useful) spell you gained +20 MAG
Your advanced stat INT increased by 2
Your title [Spell Tinkerer] evolved into [Spell Crafter] (+15% increased mana regeneration)
‘Why is it not starting at the proficiency level of one?... Maybe because I used components from spells with higher proficiency, so part of it transferred to a new one? Also, this is the first time I have heard about some advanced stats… It makes sense that they exist when some stats are stats are called basic. But why can’t I see them in my status.’
My face was visibly tense as I was trying to contain my excitement from a new spell. I wanted to go out and fire it, but I knew that it would be a bad idea. I managed to contain it and continue my spell crafting session as I applied new improved patterns into my old plasma spells, increasing their mana effectivity and stability.
I was resting after hours of spell crafting when sounds came from downstairs. ‘Is my combat equipment already here?’. I got out of a bed and slowly walked downstairs. My eyes went directly to a big black crate from metal was lying on the ground.
“You gear is here. You can open it and try it if it fits you” familiar female voice came from behind me.
Listening to Rose, I opened it. Inside was a decorated mask and hooded cloak identical to these that they wore during my rescue. There was also pair of a sturdy but elegant looking black knee-high boots and gloves with the same design. With my [??? Astral Eyes] I could see colourful auras of magic seeping out of them, marking them as enchanted items. I immediately used [Analayze] on all of them.

Overall they weren’t anything amazing, but they were still a decent piece of equipment which made me realize how amazing was my staff. But most important was that I would look amazing in them.
“They look good. “ I informed rose as I packed them into my [Dymensional Storage].
I spent the rest of the day trying to find out what I was missing to fuse plasma and light elements. It was already dark outside, and I still didn’t know. Mentally exhausted after a long day, I undressed and got cleaned. Dressed in my nightgown, I lay in my bed, where I curled up and fell asleep.
