《Reborn: Last Chance to Ascend》17. Back to the City

I walked through the opened gate. My hands were firmly on my staff in anticipation of a battle. The dragon looked at me and released a breath of fire. I double jumped out of its way, and a small sphere of plasma gathered on top of my staff before flying towards a dragon. It didn’t even try to dodge as it was confident in its resistance. Purple flash melted metal around the place of a hit as melted metal dripped on the ground. Its eyes blazed up in angry fire as it swung its massive tail on, which I easily dodged before casting a [Death Flame Firebomb]. The dragon moved its clawed limb and swapped away my spell. Breath came at me once again. Even a durable dungeons floor melted a little bit under the temperature of it. But I already blinked behind a dragon, pointed my staff on it, and a beam of lightning poured out of it. Dragon pivoted its head towards me and released a massive sphere of flames out of its mouth. I sprinted to the side, still channelling my lightning at the dragon. Beam coming out of my staff was now brighter and wider than ever before, leaving a trail of bent and slightly melted metallic scales on places where it hit. Thundering sounds filled a space as a metallic monstrosity rushed on me, trying to close a distance as it identified me as a magic caster. It was too slow as I simply blinked behind it again, interrupting my [Chanelled Death Lightning]. So I formed another small sphere of plasma and launched it on a dragons tail. It exploded on the place where the tail connected with the dragons bottom, tearing it away. Flames in golems bodies lightened up and grew in size. It turned towards me again and released another breath of fire. So I jumped to the side, but to my surprise, breath kept pouring out, and it rotated its head to me and hit me with flames. Flames flooded my surroundings as a colourless barrier formed around me and blocked damage. My barrier was quickly weakening, so I blinked out behind a dragon again. Someone would call it repetitive, but why change something that works and is effective?

‘Isn’t this dungeon a little bit too hard? Like I can’t even imagine some adventurer tank block such attack with shield’
My thoughts were interrupted when a massive amount of mana started to gather in dragons mounts, as I saw colourful streams of energy fly there with my [??? Astral Eyes]. Mimicking boss, I began to concentrate a huge amount of mana at the tip of my staff. A massive ball of purple plasma started to form. The whole room was covered in orange lights from dragons mount and purple light from my staff. We both finished charging as the boss fired a huge beam of concentrated fire towards me, at the same time as I sent a huge shining ball of purple plasma as a counterattack. Our attacks met midway as we both stopped our attack and just watched what would happen. Flash was so bright that I took damage from it, as my eyes were destroyed, came. The points from my barrier decreased by a decent chunk, and when my eyes finally regenerated, I could see a boss still alive but with half of its body melted.
‘How is it even alive?... I guess it wasn’t alive, to begin with.’
With its remaining strength, it swung its massive metallic claw on me. I easily dodged it as sometimes during a fight world slowed down more around me. My [Fast Thinking] probably levelled up, but I wasn’t sure as I disabled notifications during fights. Another swang came at neck-breaking speed. I dodged again before I cast [Death-infused Plasmabomb]. It flew and hit golem directly into its metallic head, turning it into a puddle of melted metal. Immediately after that, loud thuds sounded when the boss died turning into a pile of metallic trash and glowing orange runes forming a circle appeared.

‘It looks like my plasma spell will get stronger and easier to cast with a proper magic school for it. Still, this boss was easier than I expected.’
“You are getting stronger at an insane speed.” Rose entered a room.
Chest from black material radiating in brilliant orange light appeared containing a final reward for cleaning a whole dungeon. I ignored it, but Rose rushed towards it and stuffed loot into her inventory.
The only thing that remained was to leave this dungeon.
“Let’s g. You can enjoy your loot when we return.”
She looked at me with happy eyes as we spent days down here, and we both wanted some normal temperature and fresh air. We both stepped into a runic circle. Lights emitted from runes intensified, and our surroundings warped as we appeared outside of the dungeon. I closed my eyes as I needed to get used to brights daily light. I shivered in relief as finally, after days spent in desert level temperatures, I cooled down. Rose looked even happier as her human body handles temperatures much worse compared to mine. We walked towards an exit from a dungeon grounds where we stopped in front of the desk with the young blond woman sitting behind it.
“Please state the number given to your party at the entrance”, she asked with a bored expression and head supported by her hand.
“Number 102,” Rose answered calmly.
The woman’s expression changed to a surprised one. “Wow, we already wanted to proclaim you as dead. You know, going into such dangerous dungeon only in two and without any high ranker. You were gone for days….”
With a stone face and without any sign of hesitation, Rose explained, “As you said, we are only two, and without high rank, so we took a really slow approach in an attempt to clear at least the first floor.”
After that, we paid some fees and continued back to the city. It was noon, and the sun was warming our backs as we walked through the path in the fields.
They easily let us through the gate, and we were on a crowded street. As we pushed through the crowds, I somehow got separated from Rose, but I remembered a hideout location, so I wasn’t afraid.
Suddenly a voice came from behind me “Hey! Stop right now, you evil worshipper”. I ignored it, hoping it wasn’t aimed at me, but I felt a hand on my shoulder as someone violently turned me.
‘Ohh, shit’ came to my mind as I spotted a tall man in shining silver plate armour with golden decoration and a shiny white cape falling from his shoulders. I couldn’t see his face through a basinet on his head. From his whole body, dim luminance was coming with a hint of the divine and pure.
“It looks that a Sulivan was right to invite me here. This city is really infested by evil.”

The Isekai Police: Hero Summonings are Overrated
Kai Freeman thought it was a dream come true when a magic portal whisked him away from his terrible home life to an entirely new World of sword and sorcery to fight against the forces of evil as the prophesized chosen one. Regrettably, he was brought back to reality when “The Isekai Police” crashed the party and informed him that it was all a sham. With the only other option being a trip back home, he instead chose to join this mysterious group as his ticket to a better life. Brought to their headquarters, the teen is shown a world more bizarre and magical than anything he could have ever expected, with magic-powered arcades, a library with movies and TV shows from across the multiverse, and a whole bunch of weirdos who try to convince him that their peaceful way of living life is the best. Will Kai’s desire for a second chance be bogged down by a bunch of cynical adults, or will they show him that there’s more to life than just fantasy alone? What if everyone in the world was blind? Kirk is a city where the monarchs that ruled over them had sight but the population was blind. The sighted gene would pop up in the population every so often, about every 100 years, and the monarchs would take those children and raise them as their own. They write in Braille using boulers, they're like fountain pens only with glue cartridges to create bumps instead of ink.

Atara Korrell, a retired Navy captain, is called back into service after a gifted scientist loses everything. Is she serving her country? Or is she just a pawn in a great game? Orivar is a web novel series set in the distant future. Humanity has all but mastered the exotic material known as omnium, the most common of which is called orivar: the original variety. That clear crystal is a transmuter of mass and energy, and the very existence of contemporary Civilized Space depends on it. Deep Black, the first book in the series, begins a classic story of light versus darkness. A novel variety of omnium–one with the potential of sending Civilized Space crashing down–is stolen from a research station just beyond the Federation border. Atara Korrell, a retired Navy captain, is called to command the fastest starship ever made to chase the thieves and retrieve the stolen sample. Meanwhile, enemies both near and far vie for the omnium sample and the advanced technology powering her ship.
