《Doomsday 2020》29. The Professor
Advertisement
Alex arrived in Boston Logan International Airport, Massachusetts, United States.
The United States of America, it is the world's third largest country with the third largest population. It should be considered the world’s top country. If there is a global threat against humanity, it wouldn't be weird to find the United States as the leader of the world.
Or maybe it was just because of the Hollywood films.
.
.
.
But the fact still stands is that the United States have the resources and power to create change. In Alex’s previous life, not many countries survive the first year, as the government loses their power to create security, the country also loses its existence. The survivors went to nearest Doomsday Pillars to defend their lives, it was a place that provided safe haven and security. After a while, many survival shelters joined the surviving government and created their alliance geographically.
The United States and Canada as the North American Alliance, the South American Alliance, the European, African, Middle Eastern, China, Japan and Korean Alliance, the South East Asian Alliance, Russian and Australia Alliance.
It will be ideal if Alex can influence all of these top countries, but with his time strain, he had to be more creative. Today he came to the United States to meet one particular person.
In the city of Boston, there is a world famous university, the Harvard University. In a small office inside the Department of History faculty, there are currently two people arguing.
"Professor, the book that you published last month will ruin the reputation of the university! I strongly suggest that you make a statement that it is just a personal theory and change the genre into science fiction."
"I cannot do that. All that I have written in there were all gathered from my research and findings from six different sites all around the world. I assure you that my theory of doomsday is accurate."
Professor John is the head of history departments, researcher and founder of the science of the human civilisation foundation. A study that focuses on the origins of humanity. His theory revolves around the period of the middle palaeolithic era from 70,000-80,000 years ago. He believed that there was a huge disaster that had taken place during time which had almost wiped out the human race. The scientists and scholars believe this catastrophic disaster is the result of natural phenomenon, the most popular theory is the supereruptions from volcanoes that created the 1,000 years of volcanic winter.

The professor continued on his research by findings relics and sites that backdated to that particular period and studied their engravings for the last 20 years. The discovery was shocking, from the six relic sites around the world, he found similarity in their writings. He wondered how the people around that time period could travel between continents.
In the last few years, he found enough samples to understand the markings and there he formulated a theory. He figured that an existence from out of this world will come after every 80,000 years. Which the professor believed that it will come soon. It will either be in his lifetime or the next. Therefore he created the book.
Alex knew the existence of the book from his previous life. Years after the Doomsday, was when the survivors had started to gather. Humanity have pulled out all of their resources and knowledge to understand the existence of the Doomsday Pillars. Professor John’s theory is the closest. But at that time, the professor had already died and nobody could actually understand his research.
Within the university, the man had left office, and the professor was left with many burdens in his mind...
A knock on the door was heard, then a beautiful woman with short blonde hair and glasses walked in. It was his assistant, Cindy. She told him that a man and a woman came to visit and ask about the book he wrote.
"Probably another of those annoying sci-fi novelist, they like to quote me for their bullshxxxx fantasy novels. Tell them to leave I don't feel really well."
Cindy replied,
"Professor, you probably would want to speak to this man, he handed me this photo."
The professor took the picture and was startled. It is a picture of the same engraving that he studied, but this one is not from any of the sites he found...
"Are they still outside? Let them in."
"But what about your health, professor?"

Cindy was concerned about the professor’s health.
"I don’t give a damn about my health right now! Let them in!"
The professor has spent almost 40 years of his life following this theory. In the last 20 years, he only managed to find six sites. Every new finding would mean a lot to his research. The photo Alex showed came from the relic site engravings in Bali where he took pictures with his phone.
"Hello Professor John, my name is Alex."
Aria, who is next to him, glances at Alex.
"Oh right, and this is my associate Aria."
The professor replied,
"Is this photo real? Where did you get this photo, Mr. Alex?"
"I assure you that the photo is real, I found it from a relic under a temple in Bali. I will give you all the information and can even show you the place if you have the time. But actually, I came here to speak about your book."
The professor thought that this guy was probably one of his devoted fans. A person who is also searching for an answer like him... ‘He probably wants my autograph.’ The professor thought in his mind.
"I believe that the incoming Doomsday is real, but you're off with the timing, professor. The Doomsday will come sooner than you think. It will come in 2 weeks, at the end of the year."
The professor was stunned...
‘This guy really is my devoted fan! No, he is probably categorised as my crazy fan! He is crazier than me!’
Cindy, his assistant, is listening, and also this is the first time Aria hearing about it.
‘What sort of mission am I getting into...’ Aria thought.
Cindy laughed.
"You are a funny man, Mr. Alex! If it's true, then I should probably start packing up and prepare."
Alex, in a serious tone, answered,
"Yes, you should."
The professor thought for a while and then said,
"I believe that you understand that I have been studying this for 40 years. There is no one more knowledgeable about this other than me."
Alex answered,
"I believe you didn't succeed in entering the secret chambers on the six relics site that you found. I did found success in mine, as a proof, I will show you what I found."
Alex raises his finger and shows them a ring. The professor took a closer look at the ring, he did identified that some of the engravings were similar to what he was studying.
"Don't be alarmed, I'll show you the function of this ring."
Alex touches the ring and suddenly there is a small lightning spark, the chair in front of Alex has vanished! Alex then makes the chair reappear again.
Everyone in the room was shocked...
"This is called a storage ring. It can store items into a dimensional space."
The professor is speechless...
Alex then continues,
"If you still can't believe me, then let me show you of a more convincing proof. Give me access to one of the sites that your foundation manages, I am particularly interested with the one near the city of Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico."
"The ruins of Teopanzolco?"
The professor was shocked.
"I will open the secret chamber for you and show you the secret of the Aztec ruins."
"Cindy, prepare the earliest ticket. We are going now."

The Last Orellen (An Epic Progression Fantasy)
According to prophecy, the ninth-born child of Lord Orellen will have the sort of power that changes the world. But in a land ruled by mage families, no one welcomes the possibility of a dangerous new player. Fearful even of their allies, the Orellens come up with an extraordinary and deadly scheme to protect themselves. If the most powerful sorcerers in the world wish to kill the ninth-born, they will have to find him or her first. And that's not going to be easy when the Orellens have called upon dark magic to create hundreds of heirs. The boys and girls are given new bodies, new names, and even new magical talents before they are scattered across the continent. Only one among them is the real ninth, but all of them will have to grow up in a world where they are fugitives. Kalen, once fated to die, is now an Orellen heir in hiding. And he is determined to survive, even if he has to master his strange new powers to do it. The Last Orellen is a long, character-focused progression fantasy set in a vast universe about a boy's journey to become a powerful mage. Reviews are deeply appreciated. Please do not repost my work elsewhere without my written permission. What type of reader is this book for? You might enjoy The Last Orellen if you like... Clever and resourceful protagonists. Big fantasy worlds. Multiple cultures, lots of characters, many different types of magic--this story is expansive rather than closely focused on a narrow storyline. Progression fantasy that takes its time. Our main character will be progressing through magical ranks, but this is going to be a lengthy story. If you're more about the journey than the destination, this might be the book for you. [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]

Slave 53: The Phoenix
Azgarth is a violent Warlord from a planet where everyone feared him, a man that never lost a battle whether it be from his enemies surrendering or dying. After entering a wormhole, this once infamous man had his memory completely wiped. He was enslaved under the name 53. The great comet arrived one day and gave 53 an extremely rare animal aspect, the Phoenix. Having a rare animal aspect puts people on the fast track to power in this world. Will 53 show the same brutality as his former self? Author: So there will probably be a lot of changes when I start hashing out the whole classes and what not. I'm not planning on this to have statuses or anything like that, but when people 'lvl up' is probably going to be something like ascending 1, 2, 3, etc. With each ascension they are many times stronger, for example, someone who hasn't ascend at all would be at 0, but someone with a 1 would be about 5x stronger than someone who is 0 and so on. It would take a long time to reach each one. With the red colored marks which represents fire, I have a couple ideas with what I want to do, in a way a battle royale, as this continent they are on isn't very large, but all four elements are on it (or more, I might add light, dark, and some others) but all the humans have red, while a different alien race has blue (water), brown (earth), and grey (Air). The color of the mark they have influences how they feel about each other, a example of that would be if a red saw a brown, then they would naturally feel a disgust about each other, and if they killed someone from a different color they would gain way more life essence which is needed to ascend than they would killing someone from their same color. The last thing, I'm not too sure about the main character yet, as I like the whole idea of a memory wipe, I almost think it'd be more entertaining to have the guy slowly regain all his memory, then just becoming his normal self again. If that's the case I'll have to change the title of book. The original idea was this guy would keep the name 53, and his prior self named Azgarth is sharing his body, as in he can talk to him and give him advice on things since he doesn't want him to die since he is sorta like a split personality sharing the same body. Looking at it now, idk if I want this guy to be named 53 forever. Warning: A lot of dark content in the book, especially in the flashbacks.

Given unexpected freedom, Senna decides to live her life to the fullest and enjoy everything this new world of swords and magic has to offer her. Note: A random, story I wanted to write on a whim using a more cliche transported setting. The story starts a bit dark, but becomes lighter in the main story.
