i almost didn't open it, but then i saw that it was from you

when i first laid eyes on your handwriting, crooked and curly, i almost broke down

even from beyond the grave you thought of me... but i'm forgetting you

no matter how hard i keep trying to remember, you're fading from my head

i haven't opened it yet, i want it to last

i want to keep it fresh so that when the day comes that i forget what color your eyes were or my head refuses to recall if you spelled your name with one r or two, i'll have something to remind me

but for now, i'll just say thank you
