Arc I - New Beginnings

[Chapter 4 : Survival Island]

After going through the normal things of playing a new game reading the rules & regulation message and agreeing to the terms and condition there lies the Korean man.

Lying down on the grassy soft field awakening from his slumber he smells the fresh air with the soft warm breeze of the wind. The smell of a salty sea like the natural beaches of Earth as someone who never travelled and lived his whole life in the city this was such a new experience.

"So this is Another World." He couldn't believe how real this was pinching his own face he winced from the pain. Feeling a heavy thing attached to his waist he looks at his outfit it was a plain white linen shirt tucked in with his light brown pants and simple sandals. With a sheathed sword in a hardened leather case.

Taking it out he starts swinging with it feeling the weight of a real sword cutting into the ground it displaces the dirt and grass. "So realistic where did this black technology come from?"

Falling to his knees he grips the dirt around playing with the stone smelling the dirt and was about to taste it until...

"Guy's as always hmph!" Turning around he finds a girl behind him looking as if his actions caused disgust. "Foreigner?" He couldn't help but exclaim in surprise as before him was a blond hair blue eyes that usually are from the west.

"I am no foreigner in fact you are the one, why did you say it in perfect english hmm?"

"Korean you just spoke Korean!" Those two took a few seconds to collect themselves.

"How can I understand you!"

"I don't know!" the girl replies in haste.

Holding his head in his hands he contemplates his actions.

"Hey! Check your skills it seems to be the reason." Looking over he sees her with her finger in the air looking at what seems to be empty air.

Opening the stats for the first time he sees his own character info.

"Audrey." "CuteCuddlyKitten?"

"Ah!~ NO! well my name is Audrey but my username is CuteCuddlyKitten."

"Hello, my name is Baek-Hyun and my username is Autumn Winds I am a Warrior."

"I choose Warrior as well it was the closest class to a sword using character."

Just as they were greeting each other more and more people of all ages and backgrounds stood up from their original lying position. Some with a more extreme reaction but all of them generally were shocked at the amount of experience or realism this gave.

Baek-Hyun chatting with Audrey sharing their experiences of how they found the movers or accepting the beta test as soon as one hundred people entered Another World a global message prompted in front of their faces stopping small talk.

Welcome Beta Testers to our VR game Another World!

First off, Congratulations for you all being the first 100 beta testers to this second world VR experience.

A few major announcements,

- You can sell in-game items using the market for real world currency in credit therefore for those of you who need to make a living this can provide another way.

- This beta will last up for One (IRL) Month! each (IRL) week we will introduce another 100 players until we close after the One Month beta testing.

- Furthermore, we have removed the hard-cap of 8 real-life hours of playtime to a recommended 12 real-life hours of playtime and force ejection should your mind/body be in danger. ALTHOUGH it is still highly recommended that you properly rest when need to, and should you be forced ejected you will not be allowed re-entry until your health is in stable condition.

- You are able to Record Videos, Take Pictures, and Livestream during your stay.

After the announcement the ambient area became dark and gloomy with an eerie music helping set mood of the atmosphere of something massive, something dangerous looming in the distance would be coming soon.

There exists a slumbering disaster awakening in the island. Now a shadow of itself filled with ruins that cover the lands.

Main Goal

Survive upon this island for 60 days.

After the announcement the heavy dark clouds dispersed leaving a clear bright sky.

"Wow this game is so realistic!" Turning around he sees a teenager shouting in glee. A majority of players dismissed the big event to experience this world on it's own. Just as Baek-Hyun was going to partner with CuteCuddlyKitten another message popped up.

The timer started ticking down each second making the players realize that they only have 8 hours until the wolves come here.

Autumn Winds: "This is a different type of game than I expected it to be."

CuteCuddlyKitten: "I thought it would drop off us in a starting village of some sort but instead we are on an island with nothing but our starting gear."

Looking around he found people of all kinds of classes from monks, martial artist, archers, priests, and even some rare no class as they had nothing but a simple clothing.

???: "Everyone I believe we should all work together after all the rewards are based on how many of us survive!" A man in a group of six people surrounding him shouted out.

All the people in here turned to him some of the more prominent gamers noticed his appearance right away.

Autumn Winds: "Ice Prince!"

CuteCuddlyKitten: "Who?"

Autumn Winds: "Ice Prince the number one gamer of South Korea! I always have been a fan of him, he is one of the best professional gamer of MOBA's and MMORPG's."

Getting attention of the people around him as they grouped toward him to hear his thoughts.

Ice Prince: "From what I understand this trial is about surviving as a team, one it rewards based on how many of us survive this event, and two we all started in the same location on this island. I am a professional Guild Leader so I am going to take leader position I will not force you to be apart of my team or listen to me but we should at least work together to survive this trial together for the reward."

Some side conversations were being held some thinking about joining and others who wanted to do their own thing.

CuteCuddlyKitten: "Do you think we should join?"

Autumn Winds: "Although I thought of going solo as I usually do how can I miss this chance to meet with my idol!" Running off to join the already growing group.

CuteCuddlyKitten: "Ha~ wait for me!" chasing after Baek-Hyun.

Ice Prince: "It seems we have the majority of the people." Looking out to the field a few smaller groups are watching from a distance and some just left to explore this island. From what I know this is a small sized island it will most likely take a few hours to travel from one end to the other.

Ice Prince: "So to reiterate we have 8 hours until the wolves come to attack us before we start splitting into groups and exploring I want to know everyone's class type, class, and playstyle!" Going around he collects from his group of 76 players the list being 51 offensive class, 14 defensive class, and 11 support class.

With those 76 players we have 5 professional players, 43 competitive players, and 28 casual players. Thinking about how to split it he decides it to be teams of 5 and he will be the sixth person on his team.

Ice Prince: "We will make teams of five with 20 of us in the camp and other groups rotating positions to most efficiently achieve this. For now make random teams of five but! No more than one defensive class and one support class in one group. So we will have at least 3 offensive, 1 defensive, and 1 support on most teams."

As he was directing people around with his nice calming voice alongside his charisma the other groups were exploring this world in their own way more solo like about themselves and not the group.

???: "Hmph stupid guilds always in every game I will always go solo!"

Here stood a young kid always dreaming of being capable of doing everything himself. He choose to be a ninja because it was the coolest class. With a Ninjato strapped on his back he was crawling through the forest foraging anything of interest.

Seeing a weird blob thingy slowly move he approaches slowly.

???: "Is that a slug? Ew!"

Feeling disgusted at such a weird moving slime thing he comes from behind and slash at it.

???: "Huh it did nothing."

The slime turned around before launching itself on the kids face. Freaking out he screams before getting ejected just before he was traumatized.

"It appears that you have experienced a frightening event are you alright?" The kid almost started crying to stop this the system with it's massive amount of knowledge perfect responded to make the kid forget about the experience and laugh instead unable to stop giggling in the pod.

Ray: "So he is good?" I ask the system.

"He is perfectly functioning."

Ray: "Hm, I want to make a fun experience but then I need humanity to gain survival skills after all the trials will soon come any updates on that system?"

"Cannot answer that."

Ray: "Alright, well lets get back to designing this survival island." This first trial is to test their stance when faced with an immediate oncoming danger how well can they prepare and act. The next trial I will test their shelter with a rain storm followed by hail and thunder. So much activities to do!
