《Slayer of Kings》Chapter 60 - Nora

"Everyone run!" a voice filled with panic sounded.
Everyone looked towards the direction of the voice. It was from a girl. She ran out of the woods.
Another person who stood near the woods moved towards her. "Why should we run?"
The girl's chest moved up and down, but she replied. "Those people… who captured us are coming. They have so many over twenty."
Everyone looked at each other. They knew this is bad as none of them could fight. Especially against twenty.
"Quickly escape into the woods."
As this voice sounded everyone ran. It was now that another voice filled with surprise rang.
"Look all the kids are here," The voice originated from an old house. This was the house where Leo got his spells from.
It was now that Mia got brought back to reality. She frantically looked around for the origin of the voice. When the voice sounded another time, she ran towards it with only one thing on her mind. Nathan.
Mia's pushed past everyone and ran towards the bottom. That voice was correct. Nathan along with ten other kids were lying on the floor. Even with all the shouting none of them woke up, but they were alive. Nathan was alive. That is all she wanted.
Mia stared at him. What would she do? Runaway? Her eyes became filled with Nathan's face. Memories of the past with him and Gerard came to her mind. A voice sounded in her mind. Run. Mia did not know who that voice belonged to. Was it hers? or was it someone else? She did not know, but she did as the voice told.
Mia took Nathan and placed him on her back. She made her way to the top and looked around. She moved towards Emilia and Xander.

Emilia pulled Xander's hand, but he refused to come.
Emilia looked at him and pleaded. "Xander, please. Come with me," She lost her parents. Her dream of uniting her family no longer remained, but she still had to find her sister. She did not want anyone else to die.
Xander's body became light. He did as Emilia told.
Mia looked around. "Where is Leo?"
They could not find him. Where could he be?
It was now that a white light shot out from the center of the town. The light then split apart and shot towards everyone still in the town. The light engulfed them. Their vision got blurry.
Then all the bodies which the light engulfed disappeared.
—
Leo found himself in the house where he got his spells. He had come here after everyone left with the kids. Last time Zek picked the skills for him, but this time he would get to choose. He had to be fast because running into the people from the city would be a bad idea.
Leo searched through the piles of scrolls stacked on top of each other.
He found a stack of spells related to water. There were four. Leo looked at the contents. He already had two of the spells. Frenzy and the clone so he left them. Before he could look at the remaining two voices from the ground rang in his ears.
He had to escape. He did not have time.
Leo ran through the stairs and made his way out of the house. Then he used the broken buildings in the area as a cover and moved.
As he did this Leo sensed an attack come towards him. He dodged the attack. A strike made of fire. Leo ran at his full speed towards the woods.

The man who attacked Leo followed. He wore silver armor with a sword tied to his side. The man's speed would have been faster, but the armor reduced it. Still, he could keep up with Leo.
This is bad.
Leo looked around. There was nothing but trees. He had to attack or at least delay the man.
Leo stopped in his tracks. He then activated frenzy and used his pure element attack. Waster rushed out of his hands.
The man used his pure element attack. A wave of fire much bigger than Leo's wave of water rushed out from the man's hand.
This was Leo's plan. This collision would cause a lot of steam. He would use this steam to escape with the clone acting as a distraction.
When both the attacks met steam rushed out to all sides. Leo activated the clone and ordered it to run towards the right. Leo did not run. He hid behind a big tree. As Leo guessed the man chased after the clone. He had to hurry because if the range between him and the clone grew bigger then the clone would fall apart.
Leo ran at his full speed with Frenzy activated. When Leo sensed his connection with the clone breaking Leo summoned the clone back.
As he did this a scream ran through the forest, but Leo did not stop. He kept running not knowing where he would end up.
—
An hour passed since he escaped from the man. Leo stood in front of a village.
Leo stood for some time to catch his breath. He then walked into the village.
The village likes most ones he had gone had wooden construction. They included both houses and shops. People sold fruits on the streets with only a mat separating them from the ground. The village lacked any roads.
Leo stopped in his tracks. His eyes grew wide as the moon. This was the first time since he came to this world his mind became this shocked.
His mind did not work.
Leo's eyes stared at a figure. A figure of someone he once knew. A figure of someone he once held close…
As Leo started at that figure their eyes stared back at him.
Both stood there with wide eyes not knowing what to do. How could this be?
Nora. How can you be in this world? Did you not die long before I died? Leo asked himself.

A (Not So) Simple Fetch Quest
Oh great hero! The evil Demon Lord has once again arisen to terrorise our lands, and we have summoned you to save our people! No, we don't want you to fight the demon lord! Of course not; we're the good guys! What sort of good guys kidnap people from other worlds and force them to take part in wars that have nothing to do with them? That would just be plain evil! We'd be no better than the demons! Katie, after her summoning by an excessively loud mage suddenly takes an unexpected twist, is sent off on a simple fetch quest, with a promise that she'll be back home in five minutes at most. She doesn't even need to leave the building. Alas, when a goddess' blessing causes her wish for an actual adventure to be taken rather more literally than she expected, she finds herself lost in a dark cave, far away from the sword she was supposed to acquire and far too close to a population of giant bugs. Still, at least she wished her life wasn't in any danger. Among other things. Be careful what you wish for. You might just get it. This is a dark litRPG adventure, both in terms of Katie accidentally wishing all the lights out, and also in that she loses as often as she wins, often with horrific and disturbing consequences. Luckily, Katie isn’t the sort of person to let a mere grizzly death or two get her down, and is prepared to try, try and try again to get her hands on the holy sword and finally complete her ‘simple’ fetch quest. Or perhaps—with a few resistance skills under her nightie—she might even come to enjoy losing. Not that she’d ever consider forgoing revenge, even if she did. I’ve ticked all the content warning checkboxes for this one. There’s no explicit sexual content, but there are enough references to justify the warning. Profanity happens rarely, but Katie isn’t averse to swearing when she gets particularly angry. As for gore/trauma, it doesn’t get much worse than the first few chapters, but there will be occasional chapters that have extra content warnings.

A Siren's Call
I was a normal teenage girl but one day I was kidnapped. Everything changed after that. I saw the cruelty of the world. I had learned late about what I should fear more in life. I was granted a rebirth and a screen popped up in front of me. There were two choices: ‘New Life’ and ‘Revenge’. I wonder which I should choose. **A story about a girl who lost her sanity and falls deeper and deeper into the darkness.** WARNING: This story is not for the soft hearted. There are a lot of moments where you'd question my own sanity. Heck, I was disturbed at some moments as I write this story but I can't not write it! **DOUBLE WARNING: This is a very very very very dark story.** : p.s. I do not own the cover art in any way or form and found it using the almighty google-sensei.
