《Slayer of Kings》Chapter 42 - Power of Aldous

They were too late. As Aldous planted Xander’s face into the ground.
“YOU!” Screamed Emilia as her fists shook and eyes burned with rage.
Emilia wasted no time. “Armor,” She shouted. Water rose from the center of her chest and made its way around her body. The water kept on moving around her body and did not stay still. After she summoned the armor Emilia took out her silver blade.
Mia wanted to rush in but she knew her abilities worked best when she remained behind and kept a distance between herself and her enemies. She summoned her light element. Light shot out from her palms and formed two orbs on them.
Leo stood behind and watched the fight. He needed to watch this fight closely as this person did not seem normal. Why was he unable to activate his Crystal? Leo could not understand. He had seen Xander struggling to do something before Aldous attack. Leo’s put his best guess on Xander trying to activate his Crystal, but due to some reason, he failed. Does he have some special power?
It made no sense. This person had no magic as Leo could not sense any Crystal from this person. This brought something else to his mind. Would the power his Crystal displayed at the start be like his power?
So, could Aldous disable other's power while he could absorb other's power? No, it makes little sense. He had previously tried to absorb the power of another person but failed. Also, Aldous knows no magic.
As Leo was thinking the fight began.
I have to be fast. Xander is lying there. I cannot look at him when he is like that. Aldous!
She had three skills. One was the armor. The other her elemental attack and the last was the orb attack.
A smile grew on his face. Another foolish victim. Dodge and touch. That was his plan as these people did not know about his power.
Aldous’s face changed when Emilia sword neared her. Because she stopped the blade before it neared him.
Oh, so you are good at teamwork. He knew what she was doing. Emilia was trying to distract him so Mia could attack him and he would not see her attack coming.

Too bad.
Aldous moved forward and pushed the side of her sword towards the right. This exposed Emilia’s body. He needed to touch her hand which gripped the sword.
Aldous moved forward. As he did this Mia attacked. The two orbs shot forth towards their target. Aldous.
Aldous had to be quick. He had nothing to defend himself with if those orbs reached him. He rushed forward, but Emilia moved back. As she did this Emilia brought the sword with her. He could touch nowhere in her body because of the pressure so he would have to force his hands through the armor of water. Aldous ducked and leaped like a frog towards Emilia.
As he did this Aldous looked at the orbs. They were not fast. He could dodge them. So, he focused his attention on Emilia and would deal with the orbs after they neared him.
Emilia brought her sword downwards as she jumped backward. They were too close for her comfort. When he punched Xander in the stomach, she could tell he was trying to activate his Crystal but had failed to do so. So she had to be careful.
Aldous raised his right hand as he reached closer towards Emilia.
Mia knew she had to be quick. She did her best to increase the speed of the orbs, but that failed as they already traveled at their highest.
Emilia raised her right leg intending to kick the hand that was coming towards her.
Now, Mia’s orbs reached him. Aldous was in the air. As the orbs came towards him from Emilia’s side, he spun in the air. The two orbs went past him.
Mia did not stop. He can dodge the orbs, but she had her ‘Light Pierce’ spell. She could control their direction.
As the orbs moved past him something else happened. Leo charged forward. There was no better opportunity to defeat Aldous.
This would be considered by others as wrong. Never attack a person who had their back turned against you. That did not matter to him. He was an assassin, and he was no child. If it meant defeating his enemy, then that meant using any means necessary.

Leo activated his frenzy as took out his dagger. Not the one he bought for the clone, however, as he did this a beam of water charged towards him from his right side.
Leo dodged the attack, but his attention did not turn away from Aldous.
So, he is not alone. Does not matter, I will finish him first, then focus on others.
Leo kept charging forward. By now Emilia’s foot reached Aldous’s hands. He smiled as a bad feeling crept up in Emilia’s chest. Aldous grabbed her leg. He could not penetrate the water armor. He increased the force yet failed. Emilia lost her balance and fell to the ground, but Aldous still kept a hold of her leg.
He could not fail! Revenge for his mother!
His hands broke through. As they did Aldous pulled on Emilia's leg. She was light when compared to the things he had trained with so he pulled her with ease.
As her body neared him the surrounding armor disappeared.
But, how? Was all Emilia asked as an elbow hit her face. Aldous then kicked in Emilia's stomach. Saliva and blood to shot out of her mouth as she fell to the ground gripping her stomach.
Two down, two more to go.
By this time Mia’s next attack neared him. These would be easier to dodge as they did not have a wide body.
He jumped into the air as the line of light reached him, but when it reached under him the line shot upwards. His eyes grew wide. He could not dodge in the air in time.
He tried his best but failed. The line of light pierced his right hand as blood shot forth from the hole, but the line of light did not stop. When he looked back the light changed its direction downwards.
But before it could hit him again a water attack in the shape of an oval destroyed the line of light.
Then, two more oval shaped attacks came. One aimed at Mia. The other at Leo.
Leo reached Aldous who was in the air when he saw the new attack coming towards him.
Aldous landed on the ground and took out his sword. And charged towards Leo wasting no time. The wound in his hand pained, but he could not stop!
Leo spun to the right as he raised his right leg and kicked the sword. Then, he ducked and used the raised right leg to spin around. Leo's leg hit Aldous’s leg and brought him to the ground.
It was now that two people with white hair rushed into the battlefield followed by a man clad in silver armor.
The two rushed towards Mia while the man in armor rushed towards Leo.
Damn, there are four. Leo thought. From the previous attack, he could tell the one who launched it was not weak.
It was now that the oval-shaped attack neared him. Leo summoned his clone and made it take the hit. He increased the pressure of the clone as much as he could. The clone exploded upon impact, but there was still a part of the attack that shot towards him
Aldous heaved a sigh of relief as he saw the clone exploding, but soon froze as the exploded water shot towards him.
Leo raised his hands and used his Elemental Attack. He stopped the remaining attack.
Aldous jumped backward as he needed to dodge this attack, but the distance between them was too small. So he stopped after the first jump and threw punches at the water. He got rid of it.
Mia also took care of the attack towards her. She to use four orbs. This caused her light reserve to fall below 40%. She had to end this battle quickly.
Towards Leo’s front stood while the man clad in armor towards his back. Mia faced the two new fighters. Emilia still gripped her stomach and laid on the ground while Xander showed no signs of waking up.
Mia knew this fight would not be easy.
