《Slayer of Kings》Chapter 37 - Capturing A Prince

Two days have passed.

During the two days, Leo would go to the river in the morning and only return in the evening. His control over frenzy has improved and the fatigue that came after frenzy has also reduced.

As for the clone, it’s skill with the dagger has improved. Leo refrained from buying a new weapon as he wanted to test which weapon would be great for the clone. Finally, he concluded that the dagger should be the weapon of choice for the clone. He could trick the enemies if it had a dagger since both looked similar. This could have worked with another weapon also. Leo preferred the clone to use a dagger and money played a big part in this as a sword costs much more than a dagger.

And so, Leo spent 50 silver and bought a dagger. It had a silver blade and a wooden handle. After he got his hands on more money, he would buy a better dagger, but until then this was his only option for the clone.

Finally, it was the day of their new mission. The mission to scout and observe the new city that has been built by non-elemental users under the leadership of Xavier. The new city called ‘Freedom City’.

The sun shined lonely. The air remained humid. Beads of sweat formed on the necks and backs of workers that carried bricks and wood needed to build the new shop that was opening.

Emilia wore a light blue dress as she held a red ribbon in her hands. This was the only thing left of her sister. It’s been so long…

Do you remember me? Where are you? She asked in her mind knowing she would not get any answers. The only thing she could do was to hold the ribbon tightly and never let it go until she finds her sister.

Xander wore a green dress. His hair remained messy as always. This would be his second mission.

“Xander, it’s time,” A voice sounded from behind him.

“Yes, I’m coming,” He replied as he shifted his gaze from the smudgy mirror and walked past the steel beds. This was his home for as long as he could remember. The steel beds. The floor, broken in a few places. This was home.

What did I do for you to leave me? He asked to no one as he reached the entrance. Xander considered himself lucky. At least he had people like Mia and Emilia who treated him with kindness and knew him since childhood. There were many he knew who had no one. No one to call themselves friend, family or home, even though they were in an orphanage.

Becoming the greatest sword master and the greatest earth element user in The Kingdom Of Dawn had always been his dream. To Xander that was a way for others to know him. To know he existed. And maybe… Just maybe his parents would come back.

“But sis, I don’t want to wake up now,” A small boy cried as he pulled the blanket and covered himself.

“Nathan don’t be like this. It’s time to get up,” Mia replied, however, she gave up on trying to pull the blanket away any further as it would be useless. Nathan was a stubborn little boy so trying to do anything now would make him throw a tantrum. She had no time to deal with that as she had to get ready for the mission.

A figure walked past the bushes and trees as he could finally see it. The Freedom City. The new city established by non-elemental users as a revolution.

'Do these fools think they can match up to the might of The House Of Dawn? Truly a pathetic lot. Waiting to be killed. Father won’t do anything because of the Grand Elders, but that will not stop me,' Yes, that will not stop him. The prince of The House Of Dawn. To him all these people in the city were worthless.

Sounds of wood being chopped rang in his ears. This was it. The opportunity he had waited for. There was no one to hold him back. He could kill freely. No one would suspect a thing as everyone back home still thinks he is sick and on bed rest.

Let the massacre begin.

There were ten people. Five of them chopped the trees while the other five chopped the fallen ones. This was done to build more homes as building temporary homes with wood was better than building them with bricks and cement. Homes made with cement and bricks would take longer. There were too many people coming in and no way to sustain them. Yet no one told these people to stop coming and so the never-ending pile of life keeps coming in.

The prince made his way to where the workers were. This would be easy. It would take him less than ten seconds to kill the ten in front of him.

As he walked out of cover, the others noticed him. All their faces turned pale. They knew who this was. The prince. Their prince.

The prince’s hands glowed with a white light. He was a Light Element user.

However, something was wrong. None of them ran. Yes, they had pale faces, but the price could tell it was fake. They were not shaking from fear. Their faces had fear, but their eyes lacked them.

Could it be a trap? No way. What could these ten with no power do? Throw their axes at him? Pathetic.

The prince continued, but he stopped in his tracks. His Crystal could sense something. Looking down, he saw it. He was surrounded by five white circles.

They spun and rose. What is this? It does not matter must be low-class magic. I will destroy it.

The prince’s face changed. He could not believe what was happening. Where did his power go? Why is his Crystal not responding?

His body felt immense pressure. The pressure of two boulders squeezing him from two sides.

But, how?! There was no way these worthless people could do this to him.

“Are you comfortable? The prince of dawn.”
