《Slayer of Kings》Chapter 34 - Returning To The Town

As he tried to get up a voice sounded in his ears, “No Leo don’t get up now.”
Looking towards the source it was Mia and beside her stood Emilia.
Another voice came into his ears filled with frustration “Those bastards, I can’t believe we only killed two.”
“There was nothing we could do by the time we found you guys they already escaped based on the whistle,” Said Mia trying to comfort Xander.
“How are you feeling Leo?” Asked Emilia.
Bandages covered his abdomen and chest. Disregarding the previous warning, he tried to get up, however, a stinging pain rose from within the bandages. Leo let out a small groan which was out of his control.
“I told you, don’t force yourself,” Mia urged Leo to stay in bed once again.
Falling back onto the rough bed, Leo looked up at the ceiling. He lost.
He needed to find that person again and kill him, but where should he go? No answer came to his mind, but if what he knew from his old life was correct, the remaining three should come for them.
“How long do I have to stay here?” Leo asked, not wanting to stay in the bed any longer.
“It’s nighttime now so by morning you’ll be fine then we can go back to town,” Mia said as she looked out the window.
“We’ll go back to the inn you stay here and rest, then in the morning we’ll come and meet you here,” It was Xander who spoke now.
And so after this, the three of them left.
Leo had nothing else to do, so he went into sleep to recover his body.
—-
Leo got out from his sleep as sounds of people talking woke him up. When he got up the stinging sensation from before had now gone. It was early morning based on what he could see from the window yet there were many people that were awake.

To the right of his bed was a worn out wooden table and on top of it was a newspaper. Wanting to know more about this world Leo picked up the newspaper.
On the front page were the words ‘Revolution’ written in bold black letters.
‘The non-elemental users have gathered under a person names Xavier and have established their own city. non-magic users from all over The Land Of Dawn are now flocking towards this new city which is named ‘Freedom City’.
‘Their main goal is to acquire equal rights as elemental users and have blamed The House Of Dawn for neglecting their needs as they suffer in poverty and as ‘The Morphing Haze’ disease ravages the land.’
“So you woke up?” A voice came into his ears looking towards the source it was Mia who spoke accompanied by Xander and Emilia.
“How are you feeling Leo?” Asked Mia.
“I feel better than before,” Replied Leo as he got more comfortable in the bed.
“Have you guys heard? The ‘Freedom City’ is near our town,” Said Xander as he pointed towards the paper which Leo held.
“I hope everything is okay back there,” Mia said as she bit her lips thinking about her father and brother.
“I don’t think there is anything to worry about I doubt those people will do anything considering the town has access to magic,” Replied Xander trying to comfort Mia.
“This Xavier the rumors about him are off the roof. I heard people say that he defeated a Normal Rank Level 4 magic user with no weapons,” Added Xander.
“Defeated a Level 4 user? Haha truly they are exaggerating this so-called leader of theirs,” Replied Mia as both she and Emilia looked at the paper which moments ago was in Leo’s hands.

“You seem to know a lot about this Xander,” Said Emilia as she looked at him.
“Well, I got to know most of them when I went to eat at the shop where everyone was talking about Xavier this and Xavier that.”
“Since Leo is feeling fine lets set off now,” Mia said wanting to see her little brother and father.
—-
The four of them got into the cart which the coachman had already brought near the hospital. Mia had informed him yesterday to be present near the hospital at early morning.
So, unlike last time they left the village with no problems and would be finally returning to the town.
—-
The ride was shaky as they traveled through the muddy roads. Unlike what Leo thought the three bandits who escaped did not come after them, however, Leo still kept his guard up.
When they first left for the village they had gone past many campsites but now all of them were empty. From Xander, who had now turned into the ‘knowledgeable one’ told them all of the people infected with the disease had gone to ‘Freedom City’ Also, many have started to accuse that it was The House Of Dawn that released the virus into the open in order to eradicate people who are unable to use magic.
Without any education, the people could only turn to accuse their enemy as they had no knowledge or evidence to back up this claim according to Emilia.
But regardless of what all happened around them a sign which said ‘Cherry River Town’ came into their sight and soon after that the cherry tree filled pathways and walls came into sight.
“Finally, we are back,” Said Xander enthusiastically. His goal now is to go into the town’s famous restaurant and have his favorite dish Fried rick and chicken.
Emilia wanted to run as fast as she could to her parents so that she could tell them all that happened during her first mission. As for Mia, she had the task of going to report what all happened during the mission and why they got delayed so much.
Leo had his eyes set on the bed as his body once again felt as light as a feather, but this time he could maintain his balance and keep himself on his feet, however, he still needed proper rest as he could not do it while going through the bumpy roads.

A darkness that would later make him known as the Lord of Night. Note to Reader: I understand this book is not for everyone, if there is a writer that can write to please everyone, I have never heard of them. The MC can be frustrating in his decisions as he learns to grow and accept what and who he is. I believe this reality is unavoidable. That being said, if you feel the need to give a review, please do so, just know that I will report you if all that review seems to do is blab toxic language and insult my literary choices without giving constructive advice or alternatives. That's not just a me policy, that's a policy of this website. I'm not writing this note because I'm a writer who does not acknowledge that there are faults in my work. I know there are. That's what happens when it hasn't been professionally edited by someone other than the author. I'm saying this because I'm sick of reading 1 star or 0.5 star rated reviews that seem to do nothing but hate on the book because they don't like the story. No comments on grammar, ways to improve or suggestions for better story arcs. Just plain hate. It's not on, and I frankly shouldn't have to write this note, but needed to get it off my chest. In saying all that, thank you to those who do leave reviews that don't fall into the above category. Your appreciation of my work, or alternatively, your willingness to give advice for improvement, is appreciated.

Life in another world with an Immunity System
NOTE: I just finished a large scale editing with the chapters. From now on, the world is no longer a 1000X Earth. I have added my original element. From here on, with a few exceptions, no similarity can be found with our Earth. Thank you. The change has been applied from chapter 1. So if anyone finds any missed places or traces of my previous world-building, please comment and notify me. Andel lived in a world where those with powers will have the final say in everything. Bloodshed
Every ship has its secrets. The Bloodshed was no different. As its name suggests, this ship had seen its fair share of bloodshed. Originally, the ship was christened The Star of Orion. Over time with all the battles it endured, it quickly became known as Blood of Orion. Eventually, that morphed into the name we know today. The Star of Orion was built as a trade ship but when she was captured by pirates, she was modified and outfitted with anywhere between 15 and 30 guns. She was captained by one of the most fearsome pirates to roam the northeastern coast of North America and the southern coast of Africa, Anwen Wolfe. Anwen was known as the Wolf of the Atlantic. She captured The Star of Orion on its way to London. Little is known about what happened in their final days on the high seas, until now.
