The beast that faced Mia jumped towards her seeing this the one facing Emilia also charged to its prey.

Mia closed her eyes and clasped her hands together as two orbs of light appeared in front of her. The two orbs spun at a rapid rate. As soon as Mia opened her eyes the two orbs rushed towards the beast.

Mia identified these beasts as Devil Hounds. These could grow up to 1.6 meters in height and lengths of about 1.9 to 2.6 meters they could also weigh up to 260 kilograms. These beats could reach Normal Rank Level 4 but luckily for them, these two were only at Level 2. The Devils Hounds belonged to the darkness element.

As the two orbs neared it the Devil Hound increased its speed and dodged the two by moving to the left and right. As it did this Leo who stood behind Mia used his pure water element attack. Leo knew it wouldn't be able to do much damage to the beast, but his goal was not to damage it rather distract it.

While this was happening the other beast jumped at Emilia as it neared her. She thrust her sword towards the beasts aiming for its chest. While in the air a blast filled with dark energy came pouring out of the beast's mouth. Emilia froze on the spot she had not expected the beast to use its elemental attack. Emilia had no real experience in fighting. All she had was training. Emilia believed she was ready to face anything the mission offered, but when the time came seeing the vicious Devil Hounds and also Xander's injury made it hard for her to keep her mind calm.

"Emilia!" Screamed Xander as he struggled with all his might to get up, but the injury to his right arm was too much. He had never experienced this much pain in his life, but he still had to try. Emilia was the first person he became close with. She, along with Mia was there for him when he had no family. They never mistreated him for being an orphan. He would not allow her to get killed in front of him.

Xander's right arm trembled, but he gritted his teeth and lifted his left arm. A boulder appeared in front of him, but before it could form Xander sent it flying towards the beast. As its attack was about to reach Emilia.

The beast, seeing the boulder come towards it changed its target from Emilia to the boulder, but before both the attacks contacted each other the sides of the boulder broke apart and changed their target to the beast. When the beam met what remained of the boulder it made the boulder crumble into dust, but the beast could not react in time to the parts that broke away from the boulder. These small rocks penetrated deep into its flesh and found their way in its stomach and intestines which caused internal bleeding. The beast roared in agony as it had never experienced such pain in its life.

This scream woke Emilia up from her shock. When she looked towards the beast that moments ago was about to strike her it was now screaming in agony. Her shoulders relaxed seeing this scene, but when she turned her attention towards Xander her eyes opened wide. Xander was now lying on the ground with his arms open as blood rushed out from his right arm. He lay there unconscious.

Emilia's fists shook and eyes turned sharp as she looked towards the beast. Xander injured himself to protect me if I do nothing in return, then how can I call myself a good friend?

The water armor around her grew even bigger and water rushed into her Elemental Sword, which a sword that her sister used.

The beast deflected Leo's Pure Element attack using its own Pure Element attack. The beast changed its attention to Leo as soon as it did this a spear made of light appeared in front of her.

"Spectral Spear!" Shouted Mia as She sent it flying towards the Devil Hound. Being distracted by Leo it failed to notice the spear before it was near. This made the spear pierce deep into its flesh and cut straight through its liver and stomach. The beast screamed as rage-filled its eyes.

Leo then sent his Water Clone to distract the beast as he activated Frenzy of The East River and charged towards it with the dagger in his hands.

Mia seeing Leo charge in helped him. She closed her eyes as a thin white beam shot straight towards the Devil Hound who could not react in time. When the beam struck its skin, it made the Devil Hound lose its eyesight and hearing capability. All it could see now was a blinding white light and hear a beaming noise.

With the Devil Hound distracted Leo charged straight in, but the beasts still kept attacking with its paws and teeth at its surrounding, but with no vision or sound, it failed to find Leo. This made it easier for Leo, who used the dagger to lacerate the Devil Hound's neck. The dagger cut through its veins and muscles as warm blood gushed out from the opening spilling onto Leo's clothes and the handle. The beast tried to roar, however; the dagger kept it from making any sounds all that happened was the dagger moved up and down. Leo had to use a lot of force as its skin was thick.

The Devil Hound tried to bite Leo before it died, but Leo pulled the dagger out of its neck which caused even more blood to gush out and moved away from it. The beast missed Leo's hand, taking the opportunity Leo stomped the beast's head onto the ground which killed it.

Mia then turned her attention to the other Devil Hound which was fighting Emilia. It was now she noticed Xander which made her heart drop as she wasn't sure if he was dead or alive.

Emilia had been fighting the Devil Hound all this time it wore her out. The lack of any real fighting experience was dragging her down. Emilia was using her sword to keep her body up.

Mia blamed herself for being an incompetent leader. She failed at the one thing she did not want to fail and that was not to put anyone in danger and injure themselves.
