《Slayer of Kings》Chapter 5 - The Last Battle - Part 1

The world looked red like fire from the depths of hell. It had no meaning.
Why fight? Love? Live?
What was the point in any of that? Is this what people call regret? No one answered.
No, this is not regret Leo assured himself, but it's not like he had any choice.
Scars ran along Leo's skin deep enough for the bones to be visible cutting through his flesh. Blood filled his insides while that same blood painted his skin. The sword shivered mimicking the movements of his hand while its color reflected his hair. The shanking legs struggled to keep the body up.
Death was upon him, but he refused it all these figures that lay before him resulted from his unwillingness to die.
The ground turned into a lake of blood while the bodies of the dead float along. Heads, veins, intestines, lungs ripped off from their bodies accompany it.
Leo looked calm looking at this scene, he had seen it many times before mutilated bodies, pulverized bodies, rotten bodies were all things he saw every day.
They were nothing new to Leo just like how death was not a new concept to him. He knew death longer than anyone else... Longer than anyone else he ever knew.
"Follow me, he cannot escape tonight I shall end this battle," A voice rang across the lake.
Soon, countless figures came into vision they were lead by a man in his 20s clad in bright gold armor with a sword as white as the heavens hanging from his side. His aura that radiated from his body covered everyone present there. It was like a mountain that crushed them, but they had no other option than to fight as if they were to run away the aura would kill them.
"Leo let us end you and I both know there is no escape from this because tonight I Cao shall kill you!" Cao said with the eyes of a lion ready to jump at its prey.

A smile formed on Leo's face. Talk could do nothing at this point it was of no use the only thing to do was rip Cao's heart out.
Leo disappeared from where he stood this caught everyone, including Cao by surprise who looked at his surroundings for Leo.
Energy fluctuations originated towards his back, but before he could react a sword came slashing at an incredible speed as it ripped open his skin to reveal his light red flesh as dark red blood oozed out. Cao's scream filled with agony rang across the lake. When the others reached Cao to help him Leo was nowhere to find
"Leo you bastard show yourself and fight me like a man!" Demanded Cao struggling to keep his pain in check.
Energy fluctuations once again rose, but this time towards his left learning from his mistake Cao slashed his sword to the left but it failed to find anyone. Fluctuations once again rose from his right, however, his sword again failed to find anyone.
"AHH," Two screams that sounded nothing like a human rang across the lake simultaneously as everyone turned their attention to the origin of these voices.
A man lay on the ground with both his hands and legs ripped out of his body, they were still near him, but with extreme pressure got crushed into a human paste. The other had his intestines ripped out. Food lay near him that showed his stomach also got ripped out. His blood mixed with urine-tainted a small part of land above the bloody lake.
A chill ran down the spine of everyone present.
Regret filled Cao as he had diverted all his attention to the two bodies because of this he failed to check his surroundings. A sword came slashing towards him there was no way for him to dodge it so he decided he would let the sword strike him, but he would also injure Leo in the process and since Leo was already on the verge of collapse, this could end him.

When the sword neared him instead of dodging or defending he let it strike him as he needed to be closer to Leo but to his surprise instead of piercing him and disappearing like before this time the sword as it dug into his flesh got pulled up by Leo this made the sword rip through his muscles and veins as it scratched his bones, however, he was a warrior he gritted his teeth and his swords turned into two instead of one as both sliced off Leo's arm to reveal his bone and veins that hung from the opening.
Cao had his right arm completely ripped open with his bones showing. The scratch mark on his bone was slowly eroding everything near it to Cao it felt like his bones were being grinded together. Blood flowed through his ripped open skin from his back which felt like someone had poured alcohol on his flesh. Leo was not in a good condition either in fact his was worse than Cao's as both his hands were no more. He felt a burning pain in the opening as the cold wind flew into it. The veins that hung out from the opening danced in the wind. This coupled with the wounds from before made Leo feel as if he would lose his conscience any moment.
"Leo I will fucking cut off your heart and eat it!" Roared Cao. The pain of his bones eroding was too much he wanted to rip Leo into pieces. Anger and frustration filled his mind however he got no response from Leo.
The others on the battlefield trembled as their heart pounded faster and faster. If Cao who was the strongest among all of them got injured to this extent, they could only imagine what would happen to them if they were to go head on with Leo.

8 184A World Forgotten
***This story will contain lite-litrpg elements, mainly character pages and a town page. There will also be settlement building and adventuring, missteps and achievements. But one thing it definitely won’t have is a harem. Nor will it have an overpowered MC. Contains mild cursing.*** ***feel free to critique my writing and offer input. This is my first venture into writing. I've always enjoyed litrpg/gamelit books. I feel like I write how I talk, so it may be a little different. You won't hurt my feelings if you see something wrong or out of place! *** ***What follows is a condensed part of chapter 1. Enjoy!*** Drew Cooper is thrust into a new, unfamiliar world. Waking up in his sweats and t-shirt near what seems to be a forgotten path through some woods, he struggles coming to terms that he's no longer in his apartment. As he tries to cope with his new reality, he hears a horse coming down the path. He hides behind a nearby tree dreading what may happen next. As the horse approaches, he sees a man walking next to it. The horse is burdened with packs and gear. When the man nears, Drew nearly panics. He has a large sword strapped to his waist, obviously a fighter. He continues to hide as the man slowly passes only for the man to stop a dozen meters past his hiding spot. "You may as well come out, ya know. You weren't as well hidden as you thought," the man stated matter-of-factly, letting the horse’s reins go and putting his hand on the hilt of his sword. Slowly and scared for his life, Drew raised up and walked from behind the tree. "I-I'm sorry. I wasn't planning on attacking you. I-I don't know where I am. I heard your horse and hid. I didn't know what you'd do if you saw me. I'm sorry," he nervously blurted out. A minute passed. Then two. The man seemed interested with Drew and stepped closer, eyes squinting as if trying to see something. "What's that on your shirt? Is that. What is that? Is that, Pac-man?" The man was visibly shaken while pointing at me. Looking down at his t-shirt nervously, "Yea. Yea. I woke up here a few hours ago I think. 3 maybe 4 hours. I’ve just been sitting here. Where am I? What's going on?" Drew asked. "That's not important right now," the man replied. " What's important is where you're from. What year is it?" "What year? April something 2020. Why? What's going on?" Drew continued now worried. The man was taken aback. After a few moments, he seemed to calm himself some. The man sighed and looked at Drew in earnest. "Well, I've got good news and bad news for ya. Bad news is you're not on Earth anymore. Good news is you happened to run into me and not someone else. You’re either really lucky, or it’s fate we met in these woods, and I don’t believe in luck." The man continued to walk towards Drew while talking and put out his hand. "I'm John Mitchell from St. Louis or thereabouts. You’ve got nothing to be scared of by me. Walk with me and let’s talk."
8 94Thorns of Jade [A Progression Fantasy LitRPG Adventure]
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Solo Leveling meets Chainsaw Man in this fun new LitRPG Series To become the king of Kissen, Noah Hearts trains to become the strongest swordsman in the world. The only problem — he can’t use Aura at all! Everything changes when he’s left for dead in a forest on the Kissen Fields… In a world where horrific creatures known as “demons” terrorize mankind, those who wield the mysterious force known as “aura” are the only ones who can fight them. These fighters call themselves the “Wolves of Haven”, and strive to create a world where demons no longer roam their lands! Though Noah Hearts is an exceptional swordfighter for a young man, his total inability to use aura means he could never hope to defeat the demons! Despite this major setback, he still hopes to become the king of Kissen and create a better world for those in his country! As he walks home from his daily training, his world is shifted upside down when he sees a few familiar faces in his home… This is the first draft of what I want to be a 9 volume series. I'll be editing, rewriting, and releasing the volumes on Amazon once they're finished. I'll admit, I'm finishing chapters in sprints because I want to participate in the writathon (Apr. 2022) so I apologize if there are some issues with the prose. Point them out to me and I'll fix them! Anyway, I have no backlog, but I plan on uploading chapters as I finish them. I don't want to spend weeks re-editing and never publishing like I used to, so I'm just gonna post when it's done. Like I said, this story is my take on a mix between solo leveling and chainsaw man. Specifically, the MC is the only one that can consciously level up (sort of), and the plot is fast paced and emotional just like chainsaw man. There are plenty of other inspirations, like HxH, Jojo, JJK, Cradle, and even FF6, but the first two are the biggest. Basically, if you don't like Shounen stuff, this probably isn't the story for you. Regardless, I hope you all like the story!

8 120A New Kind of Freak (A dragon evolution story)
For dragons, those who dominate the food chain, growth is always a troublesome time. Left to fend for oneself with only a library of memories passed down as their inheritance, no fate is worse than being a failure before birth. What can a small mutated hatchling do in such snowy outskirts? With few options besides magic, the Nexus provides a quick source of power, but that does not mean his enemies were without strength. Levels and stats are available to all in this dragon eat dragon wor- "So... am I really made of Ice-cream?" * * * This is a Progression fantasy where the main concept is about the growing protagonist actually focusing on their own growth without passing through constant hoops for the sake of it. He stays out of trouble, albeit not always successfully, and only cares about evolving enough that he can hold his own weight in the world. Showing that being made of ice-cream isn't a weakness, but a strength when nurtered properly. Also it doesn't end in a protagonist who becomes/kills god, because that just doesn't fit the theme.
