《The Prince Of Stars》Avine

"It was always told that our vast universe, filled with stars and planets by the billions, was also inhabited by fantastic and legendary beings called star warriors," singular beings equally capable of the best and the worst. Their deep, rich and heartbreaking history, known to all, was so fascinating that even though it was almost impossible to do so, I wished to meet at least one of them in my life. These beings so sublime and powerful, whose magic was envied and sometimes even exploited by many people as ambitious as they were devoid of conscience, not to mention that some of them, those great warriors, also used their own powers to submit others to their domination. And when my wish was finally granted, and I was able to get close to one of them, it only took me a moment to guess that he belonged to the second category, the dominant one, and in my opinion, the worst of all. And yet, to my great misfortune, I couldn't help loving him. And even though I was fully aware of the inexpressible price to pay for being able to be with him and live his passion, I was willing to pay it with all my soul."

"It all started one night, when I was lost and trapped in a squalid place floating in space, hidden in darkness. I reached during those excruciating moments the deepest despair, ready to give up. And then he appeared as only he could. It was a strange and brief encounter, but without question a wonderful, unique moment, inscribed in the stars illuminating all the galaxies. If I had to do it all over again, I know I would make the same choices, with all the consequences and suffering that would entail, so as not to miss a single second of these irreplaceable moments. With my heart in tatters for once believing he was definitely an invincible and unshakable hero, time has revealed to me that he was also a lonely young man damaged by the burden of his blood and magic."

The tall, sublime girl was about seventeen years old and had splendid blue eyes. She had a slim and slender body, and was adorned with a long and beautiful hair which, at that moment, was colored with an indigo tint sown with white and glittering strands emitting with each movement a dust of bright light. The beautiful teenage girl called Avine was sitting at a table on a terrace of a chic restaurant and was looking through a huge bay window at the modern city which was spreading in a joyful and insulting hubbub, but whose echo was fortunately blocked by a magical barrier, because she would not have had the strength to bear such a deafening noise as her boredom was already great.

- Darling, are you listening to me?

The sulky darling turned towards her interlocutor, a tall blond young man with green eyes, handsome and vain, who looked at her with a fat smile and a desire which displeased her instead of being flattering.

The girl made a nod of affirmative in answer to the question of her companion.

This one, visibly satisfied, looked at all at leisure the body of his friend, by starting with his face with the perfect oval and the complexion of porcelain, whose silky hair carried a lace cap. Then her fragile neck, her delicate chest, moulded in a dress of brown velvet and strewn with small pieces of crystals. Finally, her fine arms and her delicate hands with the fingers decorated with false nails, of which one supported her head with the more and more bored expression, of which alas her companion did not notice or more probably made pretence not to do it.

- You are really beautiful my love. The boy complimented her, untiringly.

- Thank you Pross. Answered the beautiful girl, imperturbable. I listened to you, you know. But could you repeat your last question?

- Of course, sweetheart, what I wouldn't do for you?

Avine rolled her eyes as she once again heard his sweet and artificial words.

- Would you like us to celebrate your eighteenth birthday together at the festival of lights?

The girl stood up and, with a delicate gesture, stroked her silver hair.

Then, leaning on the back of her old-fashioned seat covered with a garnet velvet with floral patterns, she slowly shook her head.

- Why at this party precisely?

- Because my father is one of the organizers. He explained as an obviousness and with this sufficiency which began seriously to annoy his interlocutor. He has a big share in this company.

- I see.

- And if you agree, he added while behaving as if the girl had already given her consent, I will take care to offer you moments out of the common. And he ended his long diatribe with a carnivorous smile not very reassuring, revealing more than any word what he expected from her as a reward for all his efforts. Although strangely disgusted, Avine could not help but laugh.

- Pross, really! You always know what to make up to get your way. And besides, it seems that you would never be stifled by modesty.

Looking at her with astonishment, he shrugged his shoulders.

- I don't even understand the meaning of that word. Father says all the time that this kind of emotion or character is for the weak. Winners have the right and duty to always show off and take pride in their rank and wealth.

Thinking back to Pross' father, rich and cold, Avine did not doubt it for a moment. And his son had undoubtedly inherited from him, in addition to his handsome face, beautiful blond hair and gray eyes, his horrible paternal flaws: vanity, greed, superiority complex, deviousness, and many other sordid things.

With her eyes lit up with irony, Avine looked at the young man's sumptuous suit, dark green, streaked with shiny black threads, and obviously custom-made, so she couldn't help but maliciously suggest some naughty possibilities.

- Pross, I have a particular desire for some time now. She began with a falsely anodyne air.

- Really? Inquired this one, already ready to exaucer the least of the desires of his friend in order to assure at best his interests.

- Yes.

She put innocently the finger on her succulent mouth, pretending to think.

- I was thinking of doing something more free and unconventional.

- Oh? More than having fun with me at the festival? I highly doubt it. replied the handsome heir pretentiously.

- I didn't want to offend you, although she had every intention of doing the opposite. For the moment, that's all I'm interested in.

- And what is that?

- Participating in one of those mud competitions that commoners are so fond of. With you, of course," she concluded with certainty.

- What?
