《The Chronicle of a Witch》Chapter 42 Rest Area and Bad News

“Master, you might want to see this,” Slimerin reported to me as we returned to the Dungeon. It was the room of the Earth Slime. It seemed the Earth Slime was going to be defeated soon. Well, its foes were five A-Rank Adventurers and five B-Rank Adventurers. Also, those Adventurers seemed to be trained quite well as their coordination was quite amazing. Yes, the Earth Slime was going to be defeated for sure.
And as expected, after another fifteen minutes, the Earth Slime was defeated. Well, I set the Dungeon to respawn it after an hour with its previous memory though, so I wasn’t worried about it at all. More importantly, I put a treasure chest on the room behind the Earth Slime, just before the stairs.
Unlike the previous treasure chests that only filled with potions and golds, I put the A-Rank Adventurer’s weapon in this treasure chest. There were two weapons, one from Leia and the other from the A-Rank Adventurer that picked a fight with Leia in the guild. By the way, this treasure chest was locked, so they needed a thief in their party to unlock it, unfortunately, they didn’t have a thief in their party. Well, the treasure chest was unbreakable, so even if they used a sword to break it, it would be useless.
Anyway, they missed their chance to get a weapon. Now then, I wondered what would they do when they reached the next floor.
I watched the Adventurers with great interest. After all, at the entrance of the eleventh floor, I had a shop set up and two of the Beast-kins children were staying there, selling potions at a cheaper price than in the guild. The reason I did it?
Well, I expected the Adventurers to not bring their money at all as they knew if they were defeated, they lost all their money. However, I wondered what would they think if they knew that they could buy potions at half-priced inside the Dungeon after defeating the Earth Slime.
As I wondered about that, the Adventurers entered the eleventh floor and saw the shop. Ria and Ellie were on duty at the moment. When they saw the Adventurers, Ria was clearly shaken, but Ellie greeted them with her innocent voice.
“Welcome~ Mr. Adventurers over there, we are selling Orange Potion at fifty silver, Awakening Potion and Haste Potion with one gold each! Please buy a lot of them!” Ellie shouted excitedly. They were protected behind the counter and there was an unbreakable glass between them and the Adventurers, so they should be safe. Even if the Adventurers tried to attack them, a forced teleportation Spell would be activated so those children would be teleported back to the thirtieth floor.
By the way, the Adventurers raised their weapons for an instant, but after hearing what the Cat-kin said, their expression turned bitter. As expected, they didn’t bring any money, huh?
“…this Dungeon is really annoying!” One of the Adventurer kicked the wall of the Dungeon, only for his face to change again. It seemed kicking the wall of the Dungeon was really painful for him…

“…should we return first and bring money with us?” Another Adventurer asked.
“And then what? We have to defeat that Slime again, right? Do you forget that the Slime would respawn in an hour? Do you think you can go back, take some money, and return before the Slime is respawned?” A white hair Adventurer said with an annoyed face. It seemed he was an A-Rank Adventurer, seeing his performance earlier.
“…AAAHH!! I want to make the Dungeon Master pay for this frustration that is welling inside my heart!!!!” The Adventurers nodded after hearing it. Fufufu, as expected, they were frustrated. But if it was enough to make them frustrated, I wondered what would happen once they reached the twenty-first floor. Would they go crazy like right now?
“Mr. Adventurers, you won’t buy anything?” Ellie asked again.
The white-haired Adventurer came closer to Ellie, but he didn’t have any intention of attacking her it seemed.
“I’m sorry girl, we don’t bring money. By the way, do you know the Dungeon Master?” He asked. So, he asked her for information, huh?
Ellie innocently nodded. “Yes, I know her! Master is very kind! She teaches us how to make the potions and how to sell them! Also, it is said that Master is an idi- mmmmhhh~~!”
Good job, Ria. If Ellie continued talking, my image in the Adventurers' eye would be stained. Ellie blinked and looked at Ria innocently, but Ria shook her head and looked at the Adventurer with a bit dissatisfied eye.
“Mr. Adventurer, please forgive her. We do know the Dungeon Master personally, but we are not obliged to tell you anything about her.”
The white-haired Adventurer chortled as he looked at the Dog-kin girl. “Don’t worry kid, I just want to know whether your Master is reasonable or not and whether we can negotiate with her or not.”
“…we won’t tell you anything about Master. Mr. Adventurer, this area is considered a safe zone, so you can take a rest here. If you don’t want to buy anything, I suggest you have a rest before challenging the next floor.” Ria said calmly. She sure was mature for a girl her age, wasn’t she?
“Sure, thanks for your advice, little girl.” The white-haired Adventurer returned to his party and joined their discussion. Ria let Ellie go after the Adventurer left.
“Big Sis Ria, what’s wrong?” Ellie asked innocently.
Ria sighed. “Ellie, you know, you shouldn’t talk about Master to other people like that, understand? You don’t want Master to be angry, do you?”
“No! Big Sis, I don’t want Master to be angry… what should I do? Master, please forgive me…” Ellie started crying. Seriously, I wasn’t angry at all. But how should I let her know about it?
Before I noticed, Slimerin had teleported to that place and told the children that I wasn’t angry. However, if they did it again, perhaps they would be punished, so Ellie promised not to do it again. After that, Slimerin returned to my side as if nothing happened.

“Good job, Slimerin.” I praised her.
“Master, you should get angry sometimes too,” Slimerin said. But honestly, the last time I was angry was… well, it was when I saw how the slaves were treated, wasn’t it? It was not long ago. Did Slimerin forget about it? Perhaps she had a problem with her memory now? Dementia?
Slimerin sighed as I looked at her worriedly. “Master, how about we eavesdrop what the Adventurers said?” She changed the topic.
“Mm. Alright.” I didn’t know how to ask her about it, so I agreed with her.
Now then, let’s hear what the Adventurers planning.
“…let’s return.”
“…yes, let’s return.”
“…yes, I don’t want to fight that Slime again. It’s too tiring.”
“…alright, let’s go.”
And the conversation ended. Wait, what? I missed a lot of things, didn’t I?
“It seemed they don’t want to fight the Earth Slime again after an hour. If they continue, when they return, they have to fight the Earth Slime again and that is not something they want to do. So, they decided to return as soon as possible.” Slimerin explained to the confused me.
So, that was the case. Should I make a shortcut for returning? Like a side stair with a door that could only be opened from the lower side?
Well, that would be nice. Yep, let’s make something like that later. Also, rather than a safe zone, should I build an inn on the floor after the Boss floor?
I should consider it later. If I had enough workers, it should be doable, but not now.
While thinking about the planning for my Dungeon, I got a sound transmission. Well, it was a type of Magic that transmitted sound through Mana, but only a handful of people could use it. In short, it was an exclusive phone. Yep, and the sender of this sound transmission was the principal, Magie.
“Yo, Fey, do you have fun? Actually, I have the good news and bad news, which one do you want to hear first? Oh, the good news first? Well, it seems, the teachers acknowledge your strength, naturally as Fey. The bad news, they want you to participate in the annual tournament next month. It isn’t bad news? How about the fact that everyone in Velonia Academy is aiming for you because of it? What? It’s good news too? Well then, the truly bad news probably that your friend, Goddess of Ice Briana, was captured by the Goblins and now she is trapped in the Dungeon. God of Thunder, requested for your help. Don’t worry, I’ll send you to that place as soon as possible. By the way, I can waive your tuition fee if you accept this request. So, come here and let me send you to that Dungeon now!”
…everything was bad news! There was no good news at all! Well, the fact that the silly Goddess was captured by the Goblins was not bad news though. The fact that I would be sent to her place was bad news, however.
Seriously, what did they do? There were two Gods over there and you had countless Players too, and yet, they lost to a bunch of Goblins? And just when my Dungeon became a bit stable and I created the perfect cycle for my Dungeon, I had to leave it soon? Tsk, that silly Goddess must paid a lot for it!
“Master, don’t worry, leave everything here to me!” Slimerin said convincingly.
No, well, “You are not coming with me?”
“If I go with you, who will take care of the children and your Dungeon? Don’t worry, Master, I can take care of it now.” Slimerin said.
“…I’m not worried about this Dungeon though. I’m worried about myself if you are not with me.” I said at Slimerin. She looked away… well, she turned her body and looked the other way.
“…Master, I think it is time for you to grow up and be an adult.”
What, are you, my mom, now?
I sighed. It was true though. I shouldn’t depend on her too much. Besides, I was worried about the children from the orphanage if I took Slimerin with me. If Slimerin was here, she could save the children from the orphanage if the Alchemist Guild did something to them. Yes, Slimerin should stay in this city to take care of everything, it seemed.
“…alright then. But remember, don’t push those children too hard, alright?” I warned her. I remembered her training regimen before. It was an impossible thing to do, so I was afraid she would force those children to do that kind of thing when I left.
“…Master, you sure are a worrywart. As I said, leave everything here to me. When you return, you will only see progress not regress.” Slimerin guaranteed.
“Alright… ah, but before that, do you think we have enough money to buy more Slaves? Like, well, a hundred of them, for example? Or a thousand if it’s possible. As long as the Slaves had will to live and not tainted by anger and hatred, we should buy them.” I said to Slimerin.
She sighed, but she didn’t seem to refuse me. “Alright, Master, but buying a thousand is a bit too troublesome. Do you mind if we use the DP to make several carriages?”
I nodded. “Yes, let’s do that! You can use the DP as you see fit. You are the Dungeon Manager of this Dungeon after all! Oh, also, is there something that I forgot? Well, if I forgot something, please take care of it! Now then, let’s go to the Slave Market again!”
Slimerin sighed and she used DP to create several carriages before opening a teleportation gate to an empty spot near the Slave Market. I had to finish the business here as soon as possible, went to Magie, and save the silly Goddess before the Goblins reproduced with her!

Scorched - The Winter Winds (LitRPG)
Frank Ebner once wanted to save the world. Let the second one be better than the first. On Earth he was a student of... well it hardly matters anymore. It was dying, and he and the rest of his fellows and friends studying how to stave off the end graduated just in time to be told it was too late. That there was not enough time, funds, will, to stop it anymore. That the governments and the worthies of the world had moved from trying to stop it, to surviving the oncoming apocalypse, while blaming each other. That was a world Frank wanted nothing to do with. One riven by wars for places in the Archologies going up, and between them and the dying world they were leaving behind. So when a strange voice offered him a way out, to a world unmarred by the poison killing his? Frank took it. The voyage changed him, made him fit his new world, one of stats and magic. It came with perks, for in passing through their Heavens, they'd been exposed to Divinity, and taken some of the Celestial within them. Heroes now, but there are heroes, and there are Heroes. The nobility of the Empire care only for those who carry blessed bloodlines, and their time to adapt and train up for the new world is limited. Patrons are scarce among those like Frank, with only the base Hero perks, and magic studies expensive and lengthy. Often requiring heavy Oaths to gain the necessary aid to wield mana as a mage. Frank found another way. It nearly cost him his life. Now on the run and burned by the very magic he sought and craved, he is a pilgrim traveling to the The Eternal Tree, font of Perseverance. Frank hopes Ir-karlak will grant him some way to recover from the fires that scorched him. Without snuffing out the embers those fires lit within, for he has learned to harness them and he would not give up magic for the world. *** In the last 21 days, as I update this, I've managed about 18-19 updates. So Scorched should update most days, muse willing. She's fickle, sometimes. Not every day, but most. If there's an update for the day, it will be at 7PM, GMT+2. *[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Actually completed it. :) *
8 393Time Will Tell
It was just an ordinary sunny day at the beach… until it wasn’t. Unbeknownst to me everything was about to change and I would never see anyone or anywhere I had known ever again. The sun had been bright, the day warm, the wind pleasant and the water cool... Until I fell through, leaving it all behind. Now I'm trapped in a stone cell by some psychotic wizard and his blue henchman and I have no idea what's going to happen to me. All I can do is wait. Time will tell.

Will is poor. This is a fact he does not like about himself. Even back at his home village he was considered poor, but poor in the big city means something completely different than poor in a small village... It means ten hour days of hard manual labor with barely enough money to survive, and poor living conditions. He's sick of it, and desperate for change. Perhaps that was what made him decide to spend such a large portion of his savings on a mysterious potion from that beggar... That, and it seemed so special when he held it. But ever since that day, he's been having the strangest dreams... And the work is really starting to take a toll on his body... Author's Note: I wasn't sure which mature content warnings I should put on this novel, as I'm pretty much pantsing the story. I'm putting them there mostly as a percaution, but also to not limit myself as to where the story can go. This is my first time writing and publishing anything substantial. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

8 105Dungeon core shenanigans
Our protagonist lived his life normaly, had a PhD in physics and some problemes. Nothing too out of what can be considered common. At least until he died. After his death, he comes to himself as some breathing sphere. While still himself, he forgot a good part of his memories, he kept various parts of his knowledge, but it is obvious he was impacted mentaly. Now we follow his actions and their consequences in a brand new world where he causes mayhem and panic without meaning to. Will he stabilise and be a new kind of dungeon? Or will he just continue being a mess of thoughts and doing atrocities without realising it? I have stopped writing this story, it was one for me to train, and I have much to work on. I don't plan to resume it, but if I do, then I will rewrite it from the begining.
