《The Chronicle of a Witch》Chapter 38 Watching a Fight and Watching a Drama

“Hey, Faye.” When I greeted Leah in school, she seemed a little down.
“What’s wrong?” I asked her curiously as I sat beside her. Was her sister injured so bad? I didn’t think that the Earth Slime injured her, but perhaps, her self-confidence was injured.
“Nothing, I just lacked sleep.” Leah yawned.
“Oh.” Alright, should I ask her about it? Or should I stop asking? Well, since I was an idiot for communicating with other people, ‘oh’ was the only word that I could utter at the moment.
Leah smiled wryly. “Actually, I don’t know how to feel.”
“What do you mean by that?” I asked again.
“My sister went to conquer the Dungeon just yesterday. She should be able to conquer the Dungeon easily, but on the tenth floor, she was defeated. And the one who defeated her was a Slime. You know, Slime is the weakest monster, right? I don’t know how to feel that my sister was defeated by the Slime. However, I am definitely happy that she returns home safely.” Leah explained after another yawn.
It seemed that the decision to not kill them was the right decision, huh? Well, I planned my Dungeon to be a friendly Dungeon that wouldn’t kill the citizens of this world. As for the Players, even if they were killed, they would revive, so it was not a problem to kill them.
“You should be happy about that though. Well, sometimes, even the weakest monster can defeat the strongest person, you know?” I tried to console her.
“Well, actually, I don’t mind she was defeated by a Slime. But it seemed, the guild didn’t think so. They planned to revoke her rank back to B-Rank or worse, C-Rank. My sister didn’t mind about it though, as she believed that a mere A-Rank Adventurer wouldn’t be able to defeat that Slime. And by the way, there are only five active A-Rank Adventurers, including my brother-in-law.” Leah said.
Nice information. So, I shouldn’t worry about the Earth Slime being defeated for the moment. Also, it seemed the Adventurers were quite busy. Leah started telling me that her big sister was going for that quest because the guild felt that something was wrong with the Dungeon and they wanted someone to check on it. However, most active Adventurers were setting up an ambush for me, a one that I wouldn’t fall for. So, they could only send a retired A-Rank Adventurer like Leia with a few B-Rank Adventurers to support her. In the end, however, they were defeated and returned home safely, only to say that they were defeated by a Slime.
Also, Leah said that her brother-in-law was angry with the decision of the Adventure Guild and Leia for accepting such a quest. So, they were quarreling a bit and it caused Leah to lack of sleep apparently.
“It seemed today the Adventure Guild is going to send another A-Rank Adventurer with his party members. Do you think those A-Rank Adventurers would be able to win against the Slime?” Leah asked.
Honestly, I didn’t think that A-Rank Adventurers could defeat the Earth Slime. Or rather, I used Leia for my judgment. But she was a retired A-Rank Adventurer, so I wasn’t sure about the strength of an active A-Rank Adventurer. Somehow, I got nervous. I should check how the Earth Slime doing later. Right, I had named her Slimud, didn't I?

“Don’t worry, even though they could defeat that Slime, they would be defeated by the next Boss if their ability is almost similar to your sister, wouldn’t they?” I said, but inside, I knew that there were no next Bosses. Should I put Slimerin as the twentieth floor Boss? Yes, I should do that.
“Mm, you are right! Oh, by the way, are you going to the guild?” Leah asked.
I wanted to go to the guild with her, but I wanted to watch the fight even more. So, I didn’t say that I was going to the guild immediately.
“Later, I have something to do with Fey first,” I said with a wry smile. Leah nodded in understanding and he looked at me with pity in her eyes. Was Fey’s reputation really that bad?
…
Dungeon. It was almost time for the fight to begin. I watched the fight in the big projector, well, something similar to that, in the main hall on the thirtieth floor. Around me, the children were watching nervously too.
“If you want to get stronger, you should watch the match between strong people more often,” I said that and the ones who wanted to get stronger nodded and watched the monitor intensely. The fight hadn’t begun yet, so you should relax a bit more, I commented inwardly as I looked at their expression.
Anyway, after a few minutes of waiting, Slimerin returned from somewhere with a bunch of popcorns in her hand. Well, she actually brought a lot of popcorns with a cart. Did she use DP to create that cart? Also, did she use DP to make popcorns? I didn’t remember seeing such popcorns in the Dungeon menu though.
“Master, for you.” She gave me the popcorns with a smile on her face, or at least in my mind. She also gave the others the popcorns as well. Speaking of which, how did she make this popcorn? I didn't even remember how to make it except that I needed corns... Well, popcorn was the best buddy for watching an intense action movie, so I started munching on them without thinking much.
It finally began. The party of seven Adventurers entered the Boss room and their reaction when they saw the giant Earth Slime was almost similar to Leia’s party. They were stunned and the Scout even rubbed his eyes.
And the fight started.
…and then it ended before they could show their true strength. Well, actually, I thought that Leia’s party was stronger than this party. Leia’s party, at least, could react to the Slime’s sudden attack. This party was defeated right after the Slime closed the door and attacked the closest Healer with its giant body. It caused the Mage to fall into a pitfall and before the others could react, it sent countless pebbles on them. Honestly, Slimud becoming even better than before. Its battle experience had increased after all.
“What do you think of this fight?” I asked the children who were stunned.
“Th-the fight is over before it’s begun.” A boy said hesitantly.

“I-it seems the Adventurers didn’t understand why they lost as well.” Another boy added.
“Their reaction speed is too slow.” Said another one.
“The Slime is too strong, I think?” Said a girl who wanted to get stronger.
The others added, but they were basically similar. The Adventurers were careless or the Slime was too strong. Well, I didn’t think that Slimud was too strong though. Rather, the humans were weirdly careless. I meant, they already knew about the Earth Slime from the previous party, but when they saw it, they were stunned for a good three seconds. After that, when Slimud closed the door, none of them could react at all. Did Leia hide the fact that the Earth Slime could move fast? I didn’t think so, but these Adventurers were really careless.
Well, thanks to that, we got free weapons though. The weapons I planned to put at the treasure chests.
Anyway, after making sure the children trained properly, I took the potions the children created and went to the Adventure Guild. By the way, the number of the Orange Potion was still a hundred, but I also brought fifty Awakening Potion and fifty Haste Potions. Naturally, they were the upgraded version of the Alchemist Guild’s Awakening Potion and Haste Potion. I named them… Awakening Potion Mk II and Haste Potion Mk II!
Cough, forgive me for the naming sense, but I really couldn’t think of anything at all. Yep, I should let the expert to give a name to those potions.
Also, since I brought twice the numbers of potions than what I brought usually, I walked slower. After training hard, shouldn’t my Strength increase one or two points, huh? But it seemed that I was still as weak as before.
Well, whatever. I arrived at the Adventure Guild and put all the potions in the shop. Also, I asked Erna to sell the Awakening Potions and the Haste Potions with at most two gold coins. Yep, the potions the Alchemist Guild sold were five gold coins and four gold coins, respectively. I thought that it was too expensive, but well, since they monopolized the market, there was nothing that could be said to that.
But now they had a competition, I thought that they would lower their price a bit or else, they wouldn’t be able to sell anything at all. While thinking that, I heard a commotion from the guild counter. It seemed the A-Rank Adventurer and his party had returned and coincidentally, the one on the counter was Leia. She received them with a smile, but somehow, I felt that it was not her usual smile but rather, a mocking smile. No, mocking was too evil. Perhaps, a teasing smile?
“Wh-what’s with that monster!?” The leader of the party shouted in the guild.
“What do you mean by ‘what’s with that monster?’ I think we explain it enough to the guild yesterday but… didn’t you hear it?” Leia replied calmly. I sat down and watched the drama. By the way, it seemed Leah noticed me and came to sit beside me and Erna.
“They are defeated by that Slime too?” Leah asked in a whisper. I nodded confidently.
“We heard that it was an Earth Slime!” The A-Rank Adventurer raised his voice.
“Well, we did tell you that it is a giant Earth Slime that moves at high speed and able to instantly cast Magic, didn’t we?” Leia answered with another question.
“Th-there’s no way an Earth Slime is capable to do that! It must be a new species of Monster! Your information is wrong!” The A-Rank Adventurer didn’t accept it.
Should I write that the Boss in that room was an Earth Slime? Yep, let’s do that. I didn’t want the Earth Slime to be called a different species just because it could move fast and it could instantly cast Magic after all.
“Er, is that Slime blue or white?” A Player abruptly joined their conversation. Oh, did he come from the same Newbie Village as mine?
Leia smiled at him. “No, it is an Earth Slime, so it is brown.”
It seemed she planned to chat leisurely with the A-Rank Adventurer again, but she seemed to realize something from that Player’s words. She looked at the Player again and asked. “Have you seen a Slime that can move fast before?”
The Players nodded vehemently. “Yes! In fact, we often saw it, the White Slime though. It moved so fast and it could form tentacles from its body. It can speak too. It said that its name is the Great Slimerin. Also, even though we were able to kill it in the first time it appeared, it returned a few days later. Oh, as for the Blue Slime, we only saw it once but it said that its name is Slimerin too.”
Meanwhile, Slimerin in my hand bit me. Well, she didn’t have teeth, so it was just an expression that I wanted to say while she gripped my hand strongly with her aqueous body.
I cleared my throat lightly and kept watching the drama. The A-Rank Adventurer seemed like he wanted to lash at the Player, but he understood the information the Player gave would be important, so he held himself back.
“Can you give me the detail of that Slime?” Leia asked again. The Player nodded and started talking everything they knew, including the battle against the Rhino-Bear where the Aqua Slime was eaten by the Rhino-Bear.
Leia fell into deep contemplation. She looked at the A-Rank Adventurer and felt that this problem had to be told to the guild executives as soon as possible, so the A-Rank Adventurer immediately went to the other room.
Well, it seemed it was going to be troublesome… for me, I meant.

"Montana, come here." He nodded his head toward the door, leaving out of the room. Staying silent as Ms. Carol looked at me, I kissed the back of Josiah's hand before leaving out of the room. As I walked out, Messiah stood there looking at me in disgust while I closed the door. "What are you doing that shit for?" "Huh?" I said since I had nothing else to say, just trying to stall time to get my words together."Why are you stripping, Monty?"Sighing, I decided that I wasn't going to lie like I'd originally planned to do after listening to Chocolate's stupid advice. "Money." I spoke simply and he scoffed as I looked down."Why not just ask Josiah for money instead doing hoe shit?" "First of all, It's not doing hoe shit. I don't have sex with anyone. I just dance. And I don't want to ask him for any money. It's not his job to take care of me.""So stripping..." He trailed off with a laugh."..stripping was the last resort? Instead of putting your pride aside?" Saying nothing, I just looked at him with pleading eyes."Please don't tell him, Messiah." I could already tell by the look on his face that he was going to tell him."I ain't gon' tell him.." Thank God. I thought. "..you are." "What?!" I shrieked. "No. I'm not.""You are." He spoke in a demanding tone."Please. You know how he is." I expressed"And you know how he is too but you made that bed." "Messiah, he's going to kill me." I begged."I know." He shook his head, walking away from me."Better figure it out. You got until the end of the day to tell him or I will." He mumbled before walking back into the room.
