《The Chronicle of a Witch》Chapter 30 Faye

“Hey, do you know about the Players? Lately, they are killed even though they are in the city!”
“Really? You mean those Players that come from the other world and can be resurrected, right?”
“Yes, those people! I heard they were killed when they walked in an empty street in the dark. In the dark alley, they would see a little girl at the end of the street and when they got closer to that little girl, the girl disappeared! And when the Player looked for the girl… slash! They were beheaded! Oh, the only clue is a puddle of water in the crime scene. It becomes a horror story easily!”
…well, without thinking much, the culprit was definitely me. As for the girl talking in front of me, she was one of my new friends, Leah. Fufufu, even I could have one or two friends easily!
Naturally, when I said 'I', it was not Fey. It was another persona of Fey, which was called Faye. Yep, I became a different persona at the moment, and I attending the school with this new persona. As for Fey, heh, she had gone and became a black history of mine.
With the help of the principal, I became a transfer student. Also, I used a bit of Magic to disguise myself. My face was different than Fey’s face. My hair color was different too. Also, my figure had become more mature, unlike the child-like figure of Fey’s. I looked like fifteen years old girl. Well, because of certain reason, I didn’t change my height at all. Illusion was illusion after all, even though I could change my height, it would be troublesome for me because my point of view was still the same. Perhaps I would feel like wearing an animal costume and my eyes were on its chest area. It would feel unnatural, right?
Speaking of which, I couldn’t use disguising Magic at all. It was a complicated Spell after all. It was easily compared to 6-tier Spell in complexity, so it was not something that I could use at all. That was why, I had Slimerin to use this disguise Magic on me. And she also disguised herself, so she was not a Slime anymore, but rather, a doll. And since I couldn’t stay far from Slimerin or the disguise Magic would be nulled, I had to carry her wherever I went. Mm, I was known as the girl who always brought her Teddy Bear.
By the way, it was not a bear but rather a Panda. Yes, I loved Panda. Panda was cute, at least base on the standard of the Earthlings. However, in this world, it seemed their aesthetic sense was different.
“What kind of bear is that? Oh, those black eyes are scary! Is that a Zombie Bear?” That was the reaction of the people who saw my Panda.
Cough, putting aside the pouting Slimerin, since I loved Panda, I didn’t mind their words at all. More importantly, I had friends now. Also, after spending a week in the academy, I learned common sense a bit. Yep, I became a girl who understood common sense. In fact, common sense had become my best friend too!

Alright, so, it was a common sense to control only one element, as controlling two elements could be considered as a genius and three elements was considered as an absolute genius. As for ten elements, it was really considered as a monster. Scary.
Second, I knew that to befriend the others, I had to be weaker than them, but not too much. I didn’t know why they looked at the strength of other people to befriend other. Perhaps it was something in this line. An elephant wouldn’t befriend an ant. Yep, that must be it.
Anyway, because my scores were on the average side, it was easy to befriend other people who was average too. Oh, by the way, I still had to be a top scorer to get the scholarship from the school, but I could use my Fey persona to do that. As for this Faye persona, I would learn and befriend everyone (except the thirteen nobles).
Ah, now, let’s go back to the main topic. Leah was talking about the ‘murder in the alleyway’. That was how the Players and the citizens of this Empire called it. And like I said, the culprit was me and Slimerin. And the reason for us to do something like that was to gather experience for leveling up, naturally.
Since the Players could be revived incessantly, we did this to level up. And the more we leveled up, the faster the Dungeon Development Plan could be realized. And the faster the Dungeon Development Plan could be realized, the faster I could laze around inside the Dungeon. Yep, my goal was really noble, even I was amazed by my own goal.
Speaking of which, Leah was a commoner, not a noble. She didn’t stay in the dorm because her scores were average. Even though she was a genius, she deliberately didn’t do well in the exam and it was only enough for her to pass the test. So, no nobles aimed at her at the moment.
She had a big sister, named Leia. She worked in the Adventure Guild as the receptionist. And because of that, I easily got the information that I needed from this silly girl in front of me… cough, I shouldn’t call my friend silly. Yep, she was not silly, but naïve.
“I heard from my big sister that the Players are going to capture the culprit soon. They are gathering forces and plan to set an ambush for the culprit. I think the culprit will be caught in no time! After all, there are already tens of thousands of Players in this city alone.” Leah said excitedly.
I didn’t agree with her opinion though. Even though there were a lot of Players, since I already knew about the ambush, I wouldn’t let myself to be caught easily. No, not easily, I wouldn’t let myself be caught at all. Should I make another appearance as the great Slimerin again? Ah, no, I should change the name. How about the Magical Slime, Slimemin?

“Master, I found your lack of naming sense is a little disturbing.” I could hear Slimerin protested in my head. She could guess what I wanted to do, huh?
Well, whatever.
“Oh, right, speaking of the Adventurers, I heard there are strong monsters in the Bashura Town’s vicinity. A lot of Players and Adventurers haven’t returned since they went there two weeks ago. However, the scouting party sent by the guild went missing as well.” Leah gave me another piece of information that interested me a lot.
Bashura Town was a town where the silly Goddess and her brother went to ten days ago. My life in the past ten days was quite peaceful because she wasn’t there, so I kind of forgot about her. Now that I thought about it, it was really weird for that silly Goddess to spend a lot of time in another town like this. I wondered what kind of strong monster that could make her stay in that town for ten days straight.
By the way, I wouldn’t go there. Yes, only fools went to a dangerous place like that. And since I was not a fool, I wouldn’t go there at all. It was definitely not because I didn't want to go out of the protection of the barrier, alright?
As for the silly Goddess, well, let’s say that she should be strong enough to deal with the problem there. Yeah, it was something that I called trust. I believed she wouldn’t betray my trust in her. Yep, definitely not because I didn’t want to help her.
“Faye, are you going somewhere after school?” Leah asked. In the past three days after knowing her, we went to the Adventure Guild together. I sold the potions at the Adventure Guild, so I had to go there every day. It was troublesome, however, the effect of selling the potions for a week was a bit unexpected.
The price of my potion was surprisingly high. It was one gold coin per bottle, while the producing cost was only less than fifty copper coins. And what I sold was only the most basic healing Potion called Orange Potion. Its effect was only to heal a hundred points of HP, according to the system. It had twice efficacy than the Red Potion that was sold in the Adventure Guild previously, however. So, it was not a wonder that the price of the Orange Potion became even higher than expected.
And after a week of selling those potions, I could pay the tuition for the school without worry. And moreover, I had begun the next plan of the Dungeon Development Plan. Yes, since I had a surplus amount of money at the moment, I planned to make a request to the Adventure Guild to gather the herbs that could be found in the Dungeon. I knew I could get those herbs myself, however, I wanted more people to enter the Dungeon and provided the Dungeon with their residual Mana to convert into DP after all. Also, I wanted to plant more useful herbs inside the Dungeon so the Adventurers would go there more often.
As for the monsters inside the Dungeon, well, they were still the Undead-type monsters. I didn’t want to change it for now. If I hastily changed the monsters, the Adventurers and the Empire would be suspicious and perhaps they would gather a subjugation party to conquer the Dungeon. That was not something that I prepared at the moment.
As for making the potions, I let Slimerin do that. As a Slime, she didn’t need to sleep after all. No, in fact, it was not that she didn’t need to sleep, but rather, she couldn’t sleep even if she wanted to. So, she made the potions while the others were sleeping. Yep, Slime was an amazing creature.
“Mm, just like usual, I want to drop by the Adventure Guild. What’s wrong?” I asked Leah.
“Before going to the Adventure Guild, do you mind going to the Armor Shop first?” Leah asked. “My big sister asks me to fetch leather armor for her.”
“Hm? Why would she need a leather armor?” I wondered.
“Ah, I haven’t told you, have I? My big sister is one of the best Adventurer, well, at least three years ago. But after getting married, she retired from adventuring and works as a receptionist at the guild. However, her skill is still there and that is why no Adventurers dare to make a fuss in the guild.” Leah said proudly.
Hee, so her sister was an Adventurer? Also, it seemed she was very strong. However, Leah didn’t answer my question, huh?
“…did she want to go somewhere with the leather armor?” I asked again.
“Oh, no, not like that. She thinks that it would safer for both of us if we wear leather armor all the time, you know, with the Player Killer and such. Also, it seems that she wants to join the subjugation party for that Player Killer, however, my brother-in-law forbids her. Hehe, she just has her second child a month ago, so naturally, he wouldn’t allow her to do something so dangerous like that.” Leah laughed.
As for me, I was thinking about something else. Would leather armor be useful if I always aimed at the neck area?
