[Urgent Mission!
Mission: Kill Arsinoitherium Arctodus
Rewards: 1300 EXP, 5 Silver Coins, Title: First Raid Boss Killer
Description:
Arsinoitherium Arctodus, a monster that’s been sleeping since five hundred years ago, even before the Newbie Village was built, has woken up by careless Adventurers! It has bear-like strength and rhino skin! Its nature is extremely fierce! Kill it before it massacres the entire village!
Recommended Level: 20
Failure Punishment: All Players’ level returned to level 1 and will be transferred to other Newbie Village]
“Well, the Players can start over if they fail, but we can’t, huh? And moreover, it’s level 20? Even our strongest force was only level 11.” I complained as I read the paper somebody brought to me. Killing this monster was probably impossible with our current forces. And the time limit was vague. The time limit was until all the villagers were massacred. I really couldn’t let this happen, as that meant, I would be killed too. After all, I could be considered as the villagers too.
Speaking of which, its official name was Arsino... whatever Arctodus, huh? What was that? A kind of extinct animal? Rhino-Bear was simpler. Yep, I would never use its official name. Let's just call it Rhino-Bear like usual!
“…” Ah, my conversation partner didn’t like talk too much. Even while there were only two of us, I felt like talking to a wall as he silently smiled awkwardly at me. As for my other partner, she was quite busy at the moment. It was getting boring... was not the thing that I should say. But I still used both of my hands to support my head as I watched the silly Goddess.
“Is he good?” I tried asking Brian while looking at the silly Goddess and her dancing partner. Well, in my eyes, she was dancing elegantly even though her partner was attacking her fiercely. Yep, her partner was literally attacking her with his long sword. But that silly Goddess really had amazing skill to fight as if she was dancing.
“…” Brian nodded silently. I never thought that that man was actually quite skilled to the point that a God would acknowledge his skill in swordsmanship. And by that man, I meant a certain pervert chuunibiyo that dressed like a certain swordsman in black. His sword, however, was quite long, like Japanese sword. It should be more than two meters. He was only 1.5 meter though, I wondered how he could wield that sword skillfully like that.
As for why they were fighting… well, it was just a promise of us. After he held the Rhino-Bear and saved us, we returned safely to the village. He came to us immediately after he was revived and asking for his rewards. Well, for EXP and money, the silly Goddess gave him without hesitation, as for me helping him clear his name…
“Hey, I want to tell you that this guy doesn’t like big boobs!” I shouted at a Player that walked in front of our house and after hearing it, that person looked at that black swordsman, nodded silently after remembering his face and features, and smiled at him, saying, “You are right, big boobs are nuisances. Actually, girls in their blooming ages are the best, right?”
After hearing this, other nearby Players stopped and looked at both perverts with weird gazes and looked at me with pity. Why did they pity me too…?
Fifteen minutes later, that man that talked vigorously about the charm of underage girl finally walked away after exchanging contact with the poor black swordsman. I shrugged and asked him if he wanted me to continue helping him clear his name or not, which he replied with a furious nod.

"However, you should at least rephrase your sentence! You make me as if I love a little girl!" He protested.
So, I rephrased my words a little. "Hey, this guy doesn't like a mature woman with big boobs!"
This time, a Player stopped and looked at that black swordsman and remembering his face and features. Again, he nodded and walked closer.
“Friend, I know little girls are easier to coax, but that is not morally right. Not to mention you force little girl to say things like that, that is really not right. Now, come on, I can help you fix your personality so you will be upright person again. Repeat after me. Whether they have big boobs or small boobs, it doesn’t matter at all. True love doesn’t look physical appearance. True love looks at what’s inside other person….”
Alright, that man who stopped was actually a Priest in real life and he began preaching about true love, the importance of choosing partner for marriage, and so on and so forth. But seriously, he said that true love didn't look at physical appearance. I could intertpret what he said as something like this: "Even though loving little girl is not right morally, but as long as you have true love, everything is alright! Even if you love the same gender, it would be alright!"
Well, maybe it was only me. My mind was twisted... I hoped not though.
Anyway, he took an hour just preaching about it and even though I was not the victim, I felt tired too after hearing him preaching for an hour like that. As for the black swordsman, after that man left, he put his hands on the floor and cried silently.
I gently asked him whether he wanted me to continue or not, and this time, he nodded hesitantly.
"However, this time, you should say that I'm not a pervert. Only that, understand?" He glared at me. Well, whatever.
So, I repeated his words to another passer-by, which coincidentally was one of my fans. I remembered him calling himself as my fans #1. Alright, after that, he thought that this guy coerced me to say that words and challenged the poor black swordsman to a duel. The black swordsman won the duel, but lost the war… because after one man defeated, another challenged him to a duel and he was defeated after defeating the fifteenth man. Or rather, he conceded.
After that… well, there was no after that as he finally gave up asking for this reward from me. He looked at me begrudgingly and asked his reward to duel with me, which naturally I wouldn’t accept at all. He was capable of defeating fifteen Players without rest, how could someone as fragile as me defeat him?
So, I forced the silly Goddess to have a spar with him, and we came back to the beginning of this story. It had been fifteen minutes, yet, the outcome of this fight still hadn’t been decided yet. For that silly Goddess to not be able to defeat this black swordsman even after fighting for fifteen minutes, that black swordsman must be genuinely skilled in swords.
Their battle finally came to an end after the silly Goddess forced that black swordsman to make a mistake and she aimed her sword at his neck. She looked like a cool protagonist while the black swordsman looked like a defeated villain… it seemed that I had to stop here as that black swordsman was glaring at me as I thought like that.

“Now, I want to challenge her to a duel!” He said full of grudge.
“Like I said, I admit defeat.” I replied casually. I was not a hot-blooded idiot youngster that could be easily provoked. Even if he stood up, picked his wooden sword and walked to me, I still didn’t move from my chair behind the window. Yep, I was looking at him as if he was an idiot. Attacking an NPC would be punished harshly, so I believed he wouldn’t dare attack me. No, not by the system, unfortunately, but by the other NPCs. If it were a city, a guard or even a Knight would capture him if he attacked me.
“None of you will protect her, right?” He looked at the silly Goddess and the silent God.
“I think, it’s a good idea. That girl really lacks of practice, so as long as you don’t kill her, it should be alright.” The silly Goddess said so and tossed her wooden sword at me. I reflexively grabbed the wooden sword and looked at the black swordsman whose smile was really sinister. It was as if I was staring at a devil…
“Prepare yourself!” He said as he raised his sword to attack me. Geh, he was seriously trying to attack me!
Without hesitation, I… threw my wooden sword at his undefended pectoral region... alright, it was his chest area while I rolled sideway. My wooden sword hit his chest, but it didn’t stop him at all. For him, that was probably like a little girl’s around seven years old punch, which was barely hurt him, if none at all. My Strength stats was too pathetic that I could only be compared to seven years old kid from Earth…
Anyway, I dodged his first attack and without hesitation, I used [Smokeless Breath] and used [Materialize] on him while he was covered in the smoke. He was trapped inside Smokeless Slime because of that, yet I was still running away, as my Smokeless Slime could be destroyed easily.
I hastily ran to the other side of the room, opened the door, hid behind the wall, crouched down and crawled back to my previous position. I wanted to give an illusion that I had run away from this room to him while actually, I was hiding in this room. Well, there was only one place to hide in this room though.
“Don’t worry, she won’t run outside of the house.” The silly Goddess gave her advice to that black swordsman. He chuckled evilly as he looked at the open door. He casually tore down my Smokeless Slime and jumped from the window, looking around the room and walked to the only hiding place inside the room. Yep, it was under the bed, where I hid my small body there.
“Found you!” He said as he peeked under the bed.
“Attack him!” I ordered my Smokeless Slime. I could only control two of them, and they weren't strong at all. I used one to attack his face, while the other one to attack his crotch. I believed it was every man’s weakness.
“What a nasty attack!” That black swordsman snorted as he sliced both of my Smokeless Slime in one fluid motion. He was really a skilled swordsman, I had to admit that.
However…
“Another one!” Another Slime jumped from behind him and it covered his head completely. He tried to grab the Slime, but unlike the glue-like Smokeless Slime, this Slime was more like a solid liquid, so he couldn’t grab it at all. And since this world was reality, or at least the Players thought this world was really similar to reality, he couldn’t breathe at all and he desperately clawed at the Slime.
Realizing that it was impossible for him to get fresh air to breathe, he grabbed the bed and with his strength, he lifted the bed and flipped it easily. He raised his wooden sword as he started attacking me viciously while I tried to crawl out of his range. My body was weak, however, so it was difficult for me to be out of his range. Not to mention that he was in panic too, so he moved faster than usual. Fortunately, before he could beat me with his wooden sword, he stopped and lost his consciousness first. That frightened me... I hated pain after all. No, I believed no one liked pain.
"Wow, Fey, you are lucky that you didn't get beaten!" The silly Goddess exclaimed.
“Shut… up…” I weakly muttered. Even though I wasn't beaten, I still couldn't move and my whole body felt like it was in pain. It was because of the backlash after forcefully using a Skill that I shouldn’t be able to use at my current strength. The blue Slime was different from the Smokeless Slime because it was from a different Skill.
I used [Summoning Familiar] to summon this Slime. It was stronger than the Smokeless Slime and moreover, it was really a liquid, unlike the Smokeless Slime that became almost a solid like a pudding. So, it was almost impossible to destroy it without using Magic.
However, the backlash after using [Summoning Familiar] was this. Since I didn’t have enough Mana, I used a bit of my soul to use this Spell. And after using a bit of my soul, I became extremely weak that I was unable to run even when I was beaten like that.
Normally, a damaged soul was difficult to heal, but it was not a problem for me. I had a secret technique to heal my soul... was not right. Even I didn't know why, but it seemed I could draw power from my soul like I did just now with some backlash. But I would recover soon. Unlike the others, even the silly Goddess, or the other Gods, couldn't recover their soul easily. Well, maybe it was because of my soul came from another world or because something else, I didn't really want to find out the reason. As long as I knew that my soul would recover from a slight wound soon, it was good enough for me. More importantly...
“…silly Goddess, I’ll remember this…” I glared at the silly Goddess. Not only she forced me to fight with that pervert swordsman, she also had to tell him my hiding location, so I had to use this Skill that greatly weakened me to the point that I felt like dying.
The silly Goddess laughed awkwardly as she turned her head around. “Ahaha, the sky sure is beautiful, isn’t it?”

Bleached Nightmare
500 years into the future, technological progress has stagnated. Wracked by a series of problems like climate change, lack of resources and the innate human lust for war, the geopolitical landscape of planet Earth is radically different, and quality of life is far from what it was in the past. While technical development and research into realistically feasible space travel has made leaps and bounds, this has come at the cost of a world that is reeling from centuries of technical stagnation in other aspects of life. The establishment of a mining colony on Mars has led to the discovery of a new, rare material called sarinium; though it is extremely tensile and durable, it has a very low melting point. The discovery of this metal leads to large mechanical infantry- dubbed 'Spirit Striders', they are six to ten meters tall and as famed for the pride they provide a nation as they are a lethally mobile heavy weapons platform. The story follows the character of Marilin, who must both figure the enigma that is her past, and what this means for her allegiances in the future. Despite her genetically physical frailty, she seeks to gain power through a vessel that will channel her wish to change the world- the Spirit Strider. --- I hope you all enjoy my work. This is a story that I began writing over four years ago in my beginning years of high school, and have cast aside unfinished in the past two years. Though it is not up to my current standards, I hope you all may find some enjoyment in it. Happy reading.
