《Spirit Cultivation》Chapter 5 - Golden Phoenix Restaurant

While the guards were gossiping, Xuefeng was looking left and right interested in everything. All the things around him were somewhat new to him. The robes and dresses everyone wore, strange, yet familiar outfits, the ancient architecture and local customs, which he had yet to rediscover.
When he had any questions, he asked Wuying and she explained everything carefully. At first, she was somewhat suspicious, because the real Xuefeng never asked her any questions and now he behaved like a little kid who wanted to know everything. After some thought, she blamed it on the injury. People change when they are close to death.
'Before the injury, he didn’t chat often, but now he is cheerful and playful. I prefer this side of him, it's a lot more interesting.' Wuying secretly thought.
They were walking around the city for half an hour where Wuying showed him many cool spots like a hidden park between the buildings or ones with a cool view. On their way to the restaurant, they didn’t gather much attention. Many people were rushing through the streets at this hour and they could easily blend together with the crowd.
Xuefeng looked at the sign in front of the restaurant and saw different characters than the ones he knew. Thankfully, because of his predecessor's memories, he could read them. The restaurant was called the Golden Phoenix.
He had never been there but from what he could remember, it was the grandest restaurant in the city.
More than twenty couples were standing in front of the restaurant, waiting for their turn to eat.
“There a long queue. We will have to wait a long time,” Xuefeng pointed out but Wuying only smiled and assured while pulling on his hand, “You are Liu Xuefeng, the Young Master of the great Liu Clan. You don’t need to stand in the queue. Come.”
When they arrived at the main doors, a young lady at the front greeted them.
"Welcome to the Golden Phoenix. I expect you two have a reservation?" she asked them politely.
"No, we don't," Xuefeng replied with a smile. “Are there any tables free?”
"I'm sorry. All of our tables on the first and second floor are taken. You will have to wait for someone to finish their meal first and stand in the queue," the waitress said apologetically.
"How about the third floor?" Xuefeng asked curiously, looking at the upper floor.

"Uhm, the third floor consists of private rooms. They are all reserved for the upper echelons in the city," the waitress explained calmly onto to get surprise by Xuefeng’s response.
"Oh, so we will take one of the private rooms then. Thank you."
Many people on the first floor watched them as they sneered.
"Do they think that getting into the third floor is that easy?"
"I heard that yesterday a youngster from the Liu clan tried to enter the third floor but even he was denied entry."
"Only geniuses can have a chance. I would love to taste the dishes on the third floor."
"A friend of my cousin said that you can even eat a rank 3 wild boar meat there."
Hearing the commotion, even the manager was alerted and moved towards the trio at the entrance.
"Is there a problem?" A mature woman in an elegant dress with a bold cut in the side asked.
"No, Manager Wu. This pair wants to dine on the third floor," the waitress answered in a sweet voice.
"Oh!" Manager Wu exclaimed and asked, "I don't recognize you, can you introduce yourself?"
"My name is Liu Xuefeng, and this is Wuying." Xuefeng introduced them, feeling awkward.
He never tried to force enter the restaurant using his just his name.
Manager Wu frowned as she tried to remember where she heard that name from. After a moment she finally realized and looked at Xuefeng in shock.
"Young master Liu, are you the son of Liu Xiao Bei?"
"Yes, I am," Xuefeng admitted.
To his surprise, it was enough and manager Wu gestured with a slight bow, "Okay then, follow me, I will show you the way to your room.”
When they disappeared from the first-floor guests' view, everyone started talking.
Although Xuefeng and company were not close to everyone dining on the first floor, they were not far either. Almost everyone could hear them.
"Did you hear what Manager Wu said? This kid is the Liu Clan's Young master."
"Are you talking about that kid with broken dantian?"
"Yeah, because of that he doesn't go out often from the Liu clan's territory."
"He didn't look like he had a broken dantian, in fact, he was quite cheerful."
"You know what this might mean? The Liu clan's leader might have finally gotten a rank 3 medical pill for his son."

"You are right, else why would he run cheerfully like that in the city."
"We have to go inform our clan about it. If it turns out to be correct, this is some big news."
"Yeah, let's go. Our city is quite far from here. We need to hurry."
Similar conversations were ongoing in many tables. Many groups who were from foreign cities on a mission, left their tables and departed from the restaurant to inform their own clans about the news. Why? Because everything Liu Clan did in Phoenix City was worth mentioning. Especially news about the Clan leader's only son recovering from his broken dantian.
Xuefeng was oblivious to the situation on the first floor as he sat down in his private room, ordering a variety of dishes.
Manager Wu was quite helpful as she recommended some good dishes for them before leaving.
He looked at Wuying with Manager Wu gone and suddenly remembered what he was missing. "Did you bring any money? I completely forgot I don't have any on me."
"Hahaha, I was wondering when you'll realize." Wuying chuckled at his funny expression. "You don't go out often, so no wonder you forgot to bring money. Don't worry, you can just send the receipt to the Liu clan and they will pay for you. You are the Young Master after all."
"Uff, that's good. I was scared for a second," He sighed in relief and sank deeper into the sofa. It was cosy and soft to the touch. If he closed his eyes, he would fall asleep straight away.
Earlier, when they arrived at the private room, he saw that the room looked almost the same as a karaoke room which made him feel more relaxed. At least there was something that resembled Earth.
"Wuying, you know so much about cultivation, do you also cultivate?" Xuefeng suddenly asked. He scanned his memories but could not remember anything about her.
"Everyone in Liu clan is a cultivator. I'm no exception," She admitted.
"Oh, then what are your spirit artefacts? I have never seen you use them," He asked curiously.
"You know that asking others to show their spirit artefacts is rude?" She told him seriously.
"Oh… I'm sorry. I was just curious." He apologized.
"Haha, I am joking alright? How about this. I will show you if you can get at least a rank 3 Spirit Artefact during your Spirit Awakening Ceremony." She proposed with a grin.
"Well, I still don't know what this ceremony is, but I will try my best." Xuefeng agreed.
"There is too much to explain so I won't bother. Clan leader will send someone to explain everything to you tomorrow morning. They know more than I do anyway."
The second she finished the sentence, a waitress came through the door. They were so well oiled that if they were not in front of them, she would come in unnoticed. She brought ordered dishes and drinks on a trolley. When placed on the table, a delicious aroma spread to every corner of the room.
There were grilled pigeons, cooked peas & mushroom coated pheasant and fried bear paws. Those were all Rank 1 dishes. They also had one Rank 2 Greenhorn Deer meat and the speciality Rank 3 Wild Boar meat. It was recommended by Manager Wu, so they took it as well.
That day, Xuefeng had the best meal of his life. Every time he took a bite, he could feel a warm feeling spreading through his body. Although the dishes were not big in size, they were very filling. Wuying only nibbled a bit from every dish and watched as he ate to his heart content.
"You look like you didn't eat for a year," She casually commented.
"I know, but it was so good. We should come here more often from now on," He decided as he massaged his full belly.
"You know how much it will cost?" She rolled her eyes.
Just as she asked, Manager Wu visited them again and asked, “Young Master Liu, everything tastes good?"
"Yes, we liked it very much. Thank you." Xuefeng replied and mentioned before he forgot, "Can you send the bill to my Father? I didn't take much money with me today."
At this, Manager Wu only smiled.
"No problem, we will take care of it. Also, please keep this gold card. It will give you twenty percent off in all our shops, as well as priority in purchasing." She explained as she gave him a golden card before leaving the room. “I will take my leave now.
Xuefeng took a glance at the card and found two words engraved on the surface of the card.
Trade Union.

It’s incendiary stuff—and if Masha goes missing, Marcus is supposed to release it to the world. Then Marcus sees Masha being kidnapped by the same government agents who detained and tortured Marcus years earlier.Marcus can leak the archive Masha gave him—but he can’t admit to being the leaker, because that will cost his employer the election. He’s surrounded by friends who remember what he did a few years ago and regard him as a hacker hero. He can’t even attend a demonstration without being dragged onstage and handed a mike. He’s not at all sure that just dumping the archive onto the Internet, before he’s gone through its millions of words, is the right thing to do.Meanwhile, people are beginning to shadow him, people who look like they’re used to inflicting pain until they get the answers they want. Fast-moving, passionate, and as current as next week, Homeland is every bit the equal of Little Brother—a paean to activism, to courage, to the drive to make the world a better place.
