《So, Reincarnation Didn't Work Like I Thought》Another Place, Another Time (Book 2, Chapter 8)

------------------------ Somewhere Else -----------------------------
The gentle glow of the oddly constructed lanterns coupled nicely with the light of the two full moons above. The city was made mostly of a grayish stone of some kind. The adventurer wandered the twisted walkways, getting lost in the almost nonsensically designed staircases and ramps.
At the top of one of the staircases near what might be described as a balcony or at least cliff-like bannistered sitting area, was an archway that looked like it should have a set of double doors, but didn't. Inside, there were even more of the lamps, each of them unique. Most hung from the ceiling on small metal chains that looked like they should be worn as necklaces.
The adventurer found this place soon enough, figuring out that it was some sort of shop. A couple tight corners behind the merchant's desk curved around to a back room, the wall behind where a merchant would be counting as a support pillar. In the back room, on a couple tables of various make, were not only broken pieces of glass, but colored pieces of paper and some strange material not able to be identified. Tools for cutting paper and glass, small hammers, instruments used to hold things in place, and various types of glue, were littered around the area.
One lantern looked complete, but didn't glow at all. Another had a frame of thin metal wires twisted together like a braid, keeping the top and bottom piece apart but in place. In between its ends, in the middle of its bare skeleton, was a little glowing orb that didn't seem to have any physical existence. It just glowed.
The adventurer hadn't seen anyone in the town at all, and how he had gotten there was... not something he could tell others. They wouldn't believe him. There were other people that if they knew what he knew, would probably go running around telling people about it until it was annoying, but he didn't need to.

Since no one was there, he didn't feel the need to take nonexistent people's feelings in mind. He took apart one of the fully functioning lanterns in the shop off of a shelf, and saw that his idea was right- the lanterns all had that magical light inside them, and the shape and colors of a lantern only decided how big it was, what it weighed, what colors of light it produced, and how bright it was, to a point.
There were little natural holes in the stonework, and gentle breezes blew through. Though it was always dark and lit by nocturnal means, it wasn't cold. The area had an ambient light warmth to it that room temperature comfort wouldn't become boring, warmth would go away before it could be an annoyance, and the same could be said for the breeze's light chill. A perfect respite even from respite, almost like an enlightened meditative sadness.
As the wind blew its chill through the architectural maze, the adventurer was able to follow the wind's direction and reach their way outside to an obvious main road leading out of town. Very quickly after leaving the town proper, light blinded them. After a couple minutes of getting used to it, they looked around. There was one sun above, no moons, and it wasn't night time. It was day time! The adventurer walked back a few feet, and it was night again with two full moons.
Taking a step forward, they walked in the daylight trying to find someone else to talk about where they came from and what they would like help in doing.
