《Lemillion In The MCU》Chapter 24 - Battle of New York VIII
Advertisement
Witnessing the destructive might of the Chitauri Whales put a small damper on Mirio’s spirit…
Not because he was uncertain if such a large foe could be defeated… after all, any foe could be defeated, that was something he learned a long time ago…
However, the destruction the Chitauri Elites and Whales would cause before they were defeated would be unquantifiable…
It also didn’t help that The Chitauri Elites clung mostly to the buildings instead of falling to the ground to battle Mirio and the Avengers…
Loki’s plan was rather obvious – cause as much destruction as possible to separate the Avengers, but he had miscalculated…
Thor was the strongest Avenger…
Steve was the most tactically aware Avenger…
Natasha was the stealthiest Avenger…
Clint was the best long-distance fighter in the Avengers…
Hulk was the most violent Avenger…
But by far the most brilliant, and versatile Avenger was Tony Stark… he had a suit for every battle, be it ground, air, or even underwater combat…
The Chitauri Elites may have been beyond Mirio’s and the other's reach, but the skies were Tony’s domain…
The Chitauri Elites were caught completely aware when small magnetic bombs attached to their armors, and then everything went up in a blaze, causing minimal damage to the buildings…
Tony emerged from the smoke with his shoulder missiles and gauntlet-laser armed, blasting at the Chitauri Elites using the infrared vision of his helmet…
Still, even with the most advanced targeting system in the world, some of Chitauri Elites managed to evade death by leaping into nearby buildings…
Tony’s jet boots and repulsors flared, and he made a figure eight in the air before disappearing into a building, dragging a Chitauri Elite out the other side…
After blasting the Chitauri Elite away, Tony entered and exited several more buildings in a blur, dragging a new Chitauri Elite outside each time…
Some he would blast to death and others he would simply allow to fall to their deaths… after all, falling from hundreds of feet in the air was too much for even cybernetically enhanced creatures.
While making his final round, Tony was blindsided by a Chitauri Elite that leaped out a building window, attempting to drag them both to an early demise…
Tony spun in the air, raising both his jet boots to meet the Chitauri Elite and letting a burst of flames complete the rest of the job…
However, the sudden movement temporarily destabilized Tony’s flight, allowing two Chitauri Elites to leap out of the building windows and cling to him before he could retaliate…

Luckily, Tony was not the only Avenger with flight capability…
The air grew heavy and blue lightning struck the Chitauri Elites clinging to Tony, reducing them to crisp charcoal while Tony’s armor gained a boost in power…
Lightning started to fall like rain and Chitauri Elites and regular Soldiers were reduced to charcoal by the dozens, finally prompting the creatures to flee to the streets below…
Thor and Tony exchanged nods and departed in different directions…
Tony continued to blast Chitauri Elites off the buildings, while Thor swung his hammer and joined Natasha and the others on the ground…
“I can’t find the kid on coms…” Tony’s voice echoed across the coms “Has he kicked the bucket?”
Thro touched down next to Natasha at the same time, and instantly verified that Mirio was on the ground with the rest of the Avengers fighting the good battle…
“The son of Amillion is still alive…” Thor’s deep voice answered through the comlink…
“Yeah, I’m not seeing him…” Tony explained, monitoring everyone through the holograms in his helmet, but Mirio’s watch was offline…
“That’s because his watch was damaged…” Steve explained, bashing Chitauri Soldiers left and right…
Tony examined the specs for Mirio’s watch using the holograms in his helmet, and instantly understood the fundamental design of the watch and its purpose…
“Monitor the kid…” Tony instructed, “I’m thinking he can solve the Chitauri Whales pretty easily…”
“Can you?” Steve asked, bashing a Chitauri Soldier away and turning to Mirio for confirmation…
Anyone else would have failed to notice the subtle twitch of Mirio’s ears as he listened to the conversation over the coms, but all of the Avengers were very observant…
“If I permeate something as big as that whale into something else, I would probably die from exhaustion first…” Mirio explained, not agreeing to the idea but not disagreeing as well…
“Nobody is dying on my watch…” Steve intervened, dismissing Tony’s plan before it even began to take form…
Mirio, Steve, Natasha, Clint, and Thor battled side by side until Thor departed to squash the Chitauri Chariots hovering in the air untouched…
Soon, Mirio, Natasha, Clint, and Steve were overwhelmed by Chitauri beams…
It was then that Steve picked up a small cry for help amidst all the sounds of destruction and pain…
“Follow me…” Steve ordered, walking to a nearby car, sinking his super-soldier grip into the side of the car and tossing it over the nearby ledge…
Steve tossed the car with such strength that even after falling, the car continued to roll, squashing Chitauri Soldiers and Elites that got in its way…

---BOOOOOOOM---
The car burst into flames, and through the flames came Steve with his shield in front, protecting him from the explosion…
Steve rolled to diminish the impact of his landing, and got up running like the wind…
Natasha, Clint, and Mirio leaped over the ledge, chasing after Steve, though they were much slower and much more careful, not daring to literally leap through explosions…
Using the momentum gathered by running at superhuman speeds, Steve leaped into the air, performing a seven-twenty-degree spin that shot his shield at the Chitauri Elites blocking his advance…
---SPLASH---
---SPLASH---
---SPLASH---
Steve’s shield tore through the Chitauri Elites like nothing ever before seen, and instead of hearing the sound of tearing, everyone only heard the splashing of Chitauri blood and organs…
Steve reached out into the empty air, intercepting his shield that was about to pass by…
Steve braced his shield in front of his body and increased his speed, bashing the Chitauri Soldiers that attempted to block his way…
All Mirio, Clint, and Natasha had to do were pick off the stragglers and follow the path Steve had bulldozed…
After two more minutes of running, Steve slowed down and stomped a car with his super-soldier strength, causing the car to drift ahead, knocking Chitauri Soldiers that were aiming at a bus…
“Kids…” Clint shouted, brushing past Steve in a rush to help the children trapped in the bus…
Mirio frowned at Clint’s slight panic at witnessing children in danger because Hawkeye gave the impression of someone who could never be rattled, but somehow he was for an instant…
Clint launched two arrows that melted the hinges of the bus’s door, freeing the children trapped inside…
Natasha worked in tandem with Clint, laying down cover fire to discourage any Chitauri from attacking Clint while he escorted the children away…
Natasha’s guns were no match for Chitauri beams, but what she lacked in firepower, Natasha made up for with absolute precision…
Clint was busy escorting children off the bus, directing the teachers to a nearby building that should suffice for cover, but that would require the children and teachers to travel all the way around…
---PEW---
---PEW---
---PEW---
Three unexpected beams made it past Natasha’s impeccable aim, and Clint had his hands full carrying a child so he could not intercept…
Luckily, Mirio was directly behind the children, guiding them around the building…
The beams were a couple of feet away from reducing two children and one teacher to ash, and there was no way for Mirio to permeate all three people simultaneously…
Mirio’s perception of the world slowed, and his hand touched the smallest child first, pulling the child into a world of nothingness for a split second, enough time for the beam to pass through the child’s body…
Then Mirio kicked at his fastest speed while pulling the second child into his embrace…
Mirio permeated with the second child, but left his feet tangible, kicking the teacher almost free of the Chitauri beam…
The final beam passed through the second child, and Mirio deactivated his quirk…
With his senses returned, Mirio was glad to know that he had successfully saved both children, but the teacher wasn’t so lucky…
The beam had barely grazed the teacher’s arm, and now the teacher was short an arm…
The children were also shivering, no doubt traumatized by the experience of sensation loss from the activation of Mirio’s quirk…
Clint scooped both children into his arms and then pointed at the building’s wall “Can you do it?”
“Not an entire building…” Mirio replied, gritting his teeth in frustration…
“No… not the entire building…” Clint shouted, walking to the wall with the children in his arms “Just this wall…”
Mirio frowned, not sure about how to answer… permeating anyone with him was a relatively new ability, so he had no idea about the limits or what overexertion could mean…
“You can do it, kid…” Tony’s voice rang through Clint’s coms “It’s within your ability margin based on extrapolations…”
Mirio dashed to the wall, sinking his hands into the wall with brute strength as he permeated…
It felt like trying to lift the entire world on his shoulders…
But then, he thought about the world as the sum of its parts – the wall was not the building, and then he clung to that thought until a small portion of the wall entered his void of nothingness…
“Go!” Mirio shouted, ensuring his feet and head were not permeated…
Clint rushed through the wall, ensuring that the other side was safe, and then he allowed the children and teachers to rush inside for protection…
Clint barely managed to make it outside before Mirio slumped to the ground in exhaustion…
“You did good, kid…” Clint panted for breath “You did very good…”

The Forest Spirit who sought the Gods
After the Gods of Time, Nature and the Elements created this world, they took a rest under the shade of a tree they created. Thanking their creation for helping them back with its shade, they gave the tree sentience, blessed him and called him a friend. Now the Gods are half-asleep, content with only watching. The world has breathed for millenia, and the blessed tree still watches over the forest around himself. The world has changed and his life comes to an end, surrounded by loneliness. Gathering what's left of his strength, he passes his torch on, in the hope of giving a last goodbye to his friends, wherever they may be and whenever they would see. Meet and follow his first and last creation he passes his will to, a one of a kind forest spirit with... abilities (wouldn't want to spoil too much here now, would I?). Curious and cute, he will travel and meet new people, discovering the world he's in, to try and give a last goodbye to the three creation gods in his dad-tree's place.------It's my first time writing a novel! Or anything of the kind, in fact. So bash me as much as you like (within reason, of course).------This will be a world of humans, humanoïds, beasts, magic, and a heartwarming tale of travels across it. It won't always be butterflies, roses and friendship though, heavy moments are there too. Also : depictions of violence, blood and gore, nudity, strong language, alcohol and other classic +17 stuff. To the reader's discretion.

Mutation Era
That one fateful day, he showed up. The man in black. He who acted like this life was just another game. He appeared everywhere. Floating up in the sky. So naturally, but yet strangely eerie. He raised his hand and snapped then… Mutation. ... This is my first story that i've written, and with no education in story-writing, please don't expect anything of quality. I encourage you to give me feedback on my work. On that note, have fun reading! You can expect maybe 1 or 2 chapters per month because I'm really slow at writing. Chapter art courtesy of gej302

Tales from the Triverse
Tales from the Triverse is part detective drama, part fantasy adventure and part space opera. I’m influenced by the likes of Iain M Banks, Isaac Asimov and ND Stevenson and work including The Wire and Gotham Central. It begins with an incident two hundred years ago which crashed three parallel universes together. Portals open up in 18th century London, sending England down a very different path. We pick up events in the 1970s, with the Metropolitan Police having established a new department to handle portal-related criminal activity. The story is about intolerance, immigration, multiculturalism and power. It’s about what happens when incompatible viewpoints are weaponised to seed discontent, and the efforts of some to create a fairer world. In the tradition of the best science fiction, fantasy and crime fiction, I’m using the setting to examine themes that matter to me in the real world. Who is it for?If you like science fiction or fantasy, or a mix of both, this is for you. It’s my first foray into crime fiction, but I hope if you’re a fan that you’ll enjoy yourself - especially if you’re looking for something a bit different. I write fiction that is optimistic, progressive and empathetic. Bad things can happen to good people in the stories, but the overall arc tends to be hopeful. Note that if it were a movie, Tales from the Triverse would be a 15 certificate in the UK.
