《Lemillion In The MCU》Chapter 21 - Battle of New York V

STEVE RODGERS (CAPTAIN AMERICA)
The moment Mirio permeated the entire quinjet, Steve grabbed his shield…
Even though he always had his shield close by, Steve always felt a bit naked if the shield was not in his hands…
Honestly, there were many nights he would wake up screaming in terror, feeling the cold seep into his skin like he was still trapped in the ice…
Not many people knew that he would sometimes get flashbacks of being trapped in the glacier… actually, Steve doubted that anyone aside from Fury knew that little fact…
Steve remembered the psychological evaluation conducted by Fury just after he became aware of how many years had passed by…
Fury told him to bury the memories very deeply because nobody wanted to know that even Captain America had his demons…
And that’s exactly what he did, Steve buried the memories deep and over time, the feeling of coldness disappeared as well…
However, being around Mirio sort of reminded Steve of what it was like to be trapped in the ice – that feeling of nothingness…
It would drive anyone insane…
Steve secured the shield to his arm and recalled the day he picked it up…
Peggy shot a couple of bullets at the shield causing a small, nearly unnoticeable dent…
Steve kept that dent to date, and whenever he was feeling unsure of himself, Steve would rub that small dent…
With his superhuman senses, Steve felt the quinjet disappear, even though he could physically see the quinjet still present…
It was just another thing he mentally added to the strange things now present in the world…
Previously, he had made a bet with Nick that nothing could surprise him anymore, but Steve had seen so many new things that it almost felt like a dream…
Still, he was a trained soldier through and through, and this was war – no time to hesitate…
The sensation of falling assaulted Steve, but he did not panic…
Nobody panicked…not Natasha, not Clint, not Mirio…
As soon as he fell below the quinjet, Steve glanced down and his mind instantly measured the distance from his feet to the ground...
Steve could not be considered a genius by Tony’s standard, but he was a tactical genius nonetheless…
Just one glance down and Steve could immediately identify the attack pattern of the Chitauri Soldiers…
He could analyze the percentage of restriction caused by the Chitauri’s bulky armor, and he could even tell blind spots from the way their eyes reacted to sunlight…

Still, everything was meaningless if he was unable to stick the landing…
Even for a super-soldier of Steve’s caliber, falling from nearly three hundred feet in the air would break a couple bones at least…
During the physical experiments after he woke up, The SHIELD Scientists specifically told Steve that anything more than two hundred and twenty feet would be a strain on his body…
But Steve was always about pushing his limits…
Two Hundred Feet…
One Hundred Fifty Feet…
One Hundred Feet…
Fifty Feet…
Steve braced for an impact, firmly clutching the shield on his arm…
Twenty-Five Feet…
Ten Feet…
---DING---
Steve made sure that his shield absorbed most of the impact before he rolled, dispersing the rest of the impact evenly throughout his body…
Each muscle work in conjunction with other muscles to stick a landing that should have been impossible even for a super-soldier…
After the roll, Steve hopped to his feet and tossed his shield, immediately rendering the three nearest Chitauri soldiers harmless…
-------------------
NATASHA ROMANOFF (CAPTAIN AMERICA)
Natasha was the first to react when Mirio slammed both hands on the ground of the quinjet…
She had been watching Mirio closely the moment she noticed both him and Thor battling with Loki on the roof…
Mirio was obviously a very skilled fighter who seemed very accustomed to his ability, but for some reason, he gave her the impression of someone who was re-adjusting to combat…
With her experiences, Natasha was immediately able to identify that Mirio had recently undergone a growth spurt of sorts…
His precise combat style that had brief instances of clumsiness reminded Natasha of kids who had sudden growth spurts and had to re-adjust to playing a specific sport…
Only… Natasha could also tell that it was a bit different with Mirio, and it definitely wasn’t re-adjusting to his ability so it must have been a sudden increase in strength…
Given the way Mirio held his own against an Asgardian, Natasha judged that his strength was at least marginally superhuman…
Maybe not Captain America level, but definitely stronger than herself who was enhanced surgically with peak human strength, reflexes and durability…
First came the sensation of falling, which was a bit confusing considering that Natasha could still see the quinjet around her, but she could not feel it below her feet…
However, unlike Clint and Steve who could use strength and distance to their advantage, Natasha had to be more resourceful with the environment…
The moment the quinjet was out of sight, Natasha took in the nearby surroundings, and just began to run…

Mirio had permeated the entire quinjet just before a collision with a building, and Natasha exited the quinjet a couple of inches away from the glass windows of the building…
Natasha moved her legs with speed unmatched and ran on the vertical surface of the building…
The material of her boots was made for stealth, but it worked just as well as an adhesive capable of sticking to smooth surfaces…
Still, it was a nearly impossible feat to run along a vertical surface without losing your footing, and Natasha was only able to achieve this with years of experience, training, and precise technique…
However, even she could not keep it up for too long…
When the first opportunity presented itself at one hundred fifty feet above the ground, Natasha pushed off the building towards the rubber covering of a nearby business…
--BANG---
The rubber covering dampened her fall, and Natasha spun the moment she touched the ground, dispersing the momentum as equally as she could, but that was still not enough to stop the pain from shooting through her body…
“UUUghhhhhhhh!” she groaned through gritted teeth…
But pain was a Black Widow’s friend, and it didn’t take long for Natasha to adjust to the pain and ignore it all together…
Within a couple of seconds, she had also joined the battle alongside Steve and Clint…
--------------
MIRIO TOGATA (LEMILLION)
Mirio was only able to permeate the quinjet for five seconds…
And that was the exact five seconds it took for the quinjet to pass through the entire floor of the building without harming anyone inside…
Despite the blaring sirens and sounds of explosions all over, some people still felt safe in skyscrapers so many of them remained at their workstations hoping the apocalypse would miss them…
That meant that The Avengers and Mirio not only had to battle the Chitauri and Loki, but they also had to remain clear of all buildings…
Chances were, there would be at least a hundred people remaining in each building…
When the sensation of nothingness was lifted, the first thing Mirio did was search for Loki, and The God of Mischief stood inside the building watching the quinjet drift away…
Mirio had no idea where the quinjet would ultimately crash, but at the very least, it was bound to be somewhere on the streets of New York where damage was already substantial…
That would mean that nobody would be killed in the subsequent explosion…
Mirio rushed forward and permeated through the quinjet and into the building, scaling a ten feet gap like it was nothing…
However, the moment Mirio returned from the usual sensation of nothingness that accompanied his quirk, Loki’s scepter was waiting to deliver a blow…
“Ugh!” Mirio groaned as Loki’s scepter sent him crashing into the tempered glass wall he had just permeated through…
Thankfully, the glass wall remained unbroken, and Mirio permeated to the floor below before Loki could deliver another blow…
Loki smiled cruelly and aimed his scepter at a nearby group of people…
There were at least twenty people on the floor, clustered together as if they were hoping to make Loki’s life that much easier…
A couple of seconds passed by without any sound, and Loki charged his scepter for an attack to assure Mirio that his threats were not empty…
At that exact moment, Mirio permeated from the floor below, appearing just in front of Loki, grabbing the scepter in hopes of stripping Loki of his most useful tool…
A knee from Mirio was greeted by a head-butt from Loki…
A punch from Mirio was greeted by a slam from Loki…
The God of Mischief and Lemillion exchanged blow for blow, but comparing an Asgardian’s strength to a human’s strength and it was obvious who was coming out on top…
Loki pushed Mirio back as he saturated his scepter with magical energy to stop Mirio from permeating…
Mirio’s feet dug into the floor as Loki forced him back, leaving a trail in the concrete flooring that showed just how fierce the tug of war was…
Mirio desperately tried to permeate both Loki and the staff, but the limits of his current strength were one object at a time, and even then, it had to be an object less dense than the human body…
Loki forced Mirio back until he had Mirio pinned against the glass wall…
“Weak and Pathetic, Midgardian…” Loki spat disdainfully, using a bit more force to bash Mirio in the glass for the heck of it…
Mirio struggled to push Loki away, but his strength only managed to stave off further crushing and bashing…
When all seemed lost, Mirio and Loki heard the sharp sound of something cutting through the air…
Suddenly, Steve’s shield cut through the ground, separating Loki from Mirio as it continued its journey and became embedded in the ceiling…
“Wow…” Mirio murmured, eyes widened in surprise at the unexpected help…
