"Three new skill and a title, not bad." Lance nodded in approval as he studied the new information. This made him feel much better about what he had to go through. The new skills and attributes can equal out the traumatic pain.
'Ha, even the system thought what I went through could be considered torture', Lance thought as he looked at Chao. Chao didn't respond and looked off to the side like he couldn't hear what Lance just thought.
Lance snickered and looked over his panels once again. 'Hmm....woah, the dodge mastery is intermediate.' Lance blinked a couple of times as he was trying to process this new information.
This was the first immediate skill that he had. Sure what he went through was horrible... However, he never expected this result. Maybe he was in the dream world a lot longer than he realized.
What Lance didn't know was that the skill didn't become intermediate because of the amount of time he used the skill. The skills actually increases in experience and rank by the amount of understanding one has in the skill.
A person can swing the sword a million times, but if he doesn't improve his technique, he will just be at the same skill level, if not a little better. Using the skill multiple times is the most common way of understanding the skill.
However, it is not the only way. If a man was already a master at the sword before the world changed. Then the man's sword mastery would already be mastered.
Lance was able to gain his analytical skill because he would always analyze in his everyday life. The only reason it was beginner when he gained it was because he was constantly focusing for weaknesses.
Also, the beasts he was analyzing were a whole new experience for him, so he was basically at beginner level when it concerned them. However, if he checked his analyze ability now, he would discover it was also intermediate.
He utilized his analytical gift to be able to dodge all the animals in time. Still took him awhile to get used to analyzing all those animals in his time of danger. Although it took him awhile, for other people, the amount of time would take would be much longer.

That is why Chao chose that method of training. He knows Lance better than Lance knows himself. So he constructed the training based off of Lance's talent. That is why Chao left the hint in the sign. Look in the future symbolized analyze and see the patterns.
Lance of course didn't understand this concept or else he could raise his skills to a whole new level. Chao doesn't even know this piece of information. God wasn't just going to let him get knowledge that could easily concur the system he created that easily.
Storing all his new skills in his mind, Lance closed the panels. He then walked towards his sword and backpack and equipped them. Chao floated towards Lance, holding the potions in his hand.
Lance looked at Chao and smiled as he took the health potions. Lance had no need for the Chaotic potions since he didn't even understand how to utilize the energy.
"Alright, let's leave this building and search for enemies to kill. We need to level up as much as possible as fast as possible." Lance said as he walked towards the door.
"OK, but you need to be careful. Your new skills and knowledge just help you survive better. You are not invincible. You can't let your guard down for a second." Chao said with a serious look on his face.
Lance nodded. He had no idea what was going on outside. He couldn't hear any racket, so most likely a war is not going on. However, that could just mean that humanity has lost and other species of something now rule the world.
For all he knew, the campus could have turned into a fort of monsters in which he was smack dab in the middle of. Lance cautiously walked towards the hallway.
He peeked his head out the door to see if he could spot any more wolves. When all looked clear, Lance calmly walked out while looking in all different directions.
Lance turned the corner where he saw the big grey doors that separated him from the outside unknown. Lance took a deep breath as he walked towards the doors. He opened them slowly and looked outside.
There, for the first time in his new life, he saw it. The destruction and the silence of the new world. All the building he could see were basically nonexistent.
Most buildings that used to be in Lance's college campus were now just large piles of rubble. Other buildings had giant holes in the walls just like when a troll drove his hammer into a wall to get to Lance.
Lance looked up at the building he just was in. When he observed the building, he noticed that what used to be a three story building now was primarily just the first floor.
The building had numerous holes along the walls, causing the roof to collapse in on itself. Lance looked back at the world itself, taking in all the new scenery.
The ground was cracked with craters everywhere the eye could see. Trees were either split, fallen, or turned into twigs. Cars were wrecked no matter where they were. Some cars were crashed through the buildings. Others looked like they were squashed like a pancake.
The worst part was that there were bits and pieces of body parts in the area. Lance could not see one full corpse, meaning that all of them were either taken somewhere or eaten. Either option was not a good one.

The entire college looked like a series of earthquakes and hurricanes occurred all at the same time. The amount of time and effort to rebuild will take years just for this one area. The rest of world was probably in either the same if not worse shape.
A bit of sadness appeared in Lance's heart. Not because of the wreckage, but because of the silence. There was not a single person, or even a single noise that could be heard.
No noise, no one was talking, no one was even making a peep. There were not even any birds chirping or insects buzzing. The area was so quite that it had an eerie feeling to it. It felt as though that Lance was the only man alive who was now plagued with everlasting loneliness.
The noise of people laughing and conversing as they go from place to place. The one familiar thing that he experienced everyday in his life was now gone.
Lance did not enjoy most of the peaceful life he had before. Ever since he was born he felt that he was a bad match for the world. He was different, and so, most things he didn't like.
However, that doesn't mean he hated everything. Otherwise, there would absolutely no point in his life and he would of been driven mad or into depression.
He enjoyed the noise of people, more specifically, his friends. Derek and George, the two friends who were more like family to him than his actual family.
Lance missed the laughter, the conversation, and even the arguments from those two. They made everyday for Lance not a bad one. They cared for Lance like nobody has before. Though they did it in their own extreme way, they still cared.
Lance had no idea if those two were still alive, but he would not stop hoping. He would search the ends of the earth and passed that for these two friends of his. If there was even a slim chance for they to be reunited, he would take it.
Lance knew he had to cherish his memories of their conversations. The friends he had helped him make it through his past life, so he now has to make it through the present one to help them. Using the memories of his friends, he can make it through this silence.
The silence was a confirmation to Lance on the present, the future to come, and the past that was now gone. Probably in Lance's lifetime, he will not be able to enjoy the noise of peace and happiness that he took for granted.
That time was now gone. Lance now had to pave his way through the destruction for the future. Lance has to get stronger, so that he will be able to live, to search for George and Derek.
The silence will now be his life. No matter where he goes in this world, Lance will always be accompanied by the silence. He has to accept it to survive, because this is the way it is going to be from now on.
Chao just floated next to Lance, not disturbing him at all. He could feel Lance's sadness, however, being born from this world, he had no right to say anything.
This silence is all he has experienced. He knew of what Lance was thinking of from his memories, but he has never truly experienced it for himself. This doesn't mean he desires to experience it though.
Chao, being made of chaos, does not like peace and order. He will forever lead a life of chaos and that is what he enjoys doing. He also knows that Lance will live a life of chaos from now on. He will never enjoy peace, even on the day he dies.
Though Chao knows this, he lets Lance experience his feelings of regret and sadness now. This is the least he could do as a brother for Lance. Once Lance finishes, the life of never ending chaos will begin.
Lance stood there for awhile saying nothing. Minutes passed until Lance finally looked up. He breathed in deeply and then released all the air. His mind was now clear, accepting all the new changes.
Lance proceeded to step out into open area with a resolute expression. He was now truly ready to tackle whatever came at him. Chao floated right along side of Lance, ready to follow him to the ends of the earth.
'Alright Chao, where do you think we should head out first?" Lance said as he walked.
"We need to avoid people until we level up to a suitable level, like 10." Chao said while thinking. Level 10 will be like establishing a foundation for the future. Leveling up will take a while, especially since Lance evolved, making the amount of experience needed to be greater.
Lance thought about where was most likely for people to create a temporary base. The best base would be near fresh water, or a food source.
If not those places, then an area that would be able to hold a large amount of people. Though Lance didn't know the percentage of the total population that survived the first day, he knew one thing about humans. They always manage to group up.
Humans must make a hierarchy to stabilize their situation. There is also the fact that people are greedy for power and authority. Coupled with people's fear of death and abandonment, groups will definitely form up.
It is only the second or third day since the apocalypse started, so a base should not have formed just yet. Though there might be a shelter of some sort. If there was then it would have to be at an army base of some sort.
Lance looked to the north where he knew there was a governor's office and an army base near by. Lance started to walk towards the south to start hunting. The farther from the base, the more likely he will not encounter anyone.
Lance cannot afford to be distracted by others. He must get stronger. Only if he is stronger, then he can be safe. Once he is safe and secure, he can search for his friends.
With a new found resolve, Lance moves step by step to his new life in the new world.

The Archaic Elements
A fantasy world, its own unique power-up system, some mystery aspects to make it look interesting and an MC that should make sense but well messes up, cause plot. Flashy fights. Characters will use their brain, unless it is an arrogant young master that needs to be taught a lesson. The starting is slow and maybe boring. The main MC does not desire great strength or harbor any great ambition. He starts out as a naive, lazy and a boring person. But the story does hold one aspect which will fuel the growth of our MC, which is his boundless curiosity for adventure and his will to explore. The second MC is a reincarnation/transmigration and he has a clear cut aim that he needs to achieve. His past life experiences also becomes a pillar that will help guide the main MC, while his friend also supports him. The writing is slow and steady. I will provide reasonings behind most happenings and keep it a logical story. It's a WIP as I edit the previous chapters even as I release more, so while the content doesn't change, the style and smoothness improve. The current release rate is 3 chapter/week. There is no specific date as I can get sidetracked or forgetful., but I will try to stick to Tues, Thurs and Sunday releases.

Of Life and Light
Home. By definition, such a word means "A place where one lives", but what happens when one is removed from their home by those with greater authority? One would seek out another place to live, of course. Karastak, a Devil King and a Fallen God of a world called Terra, was removed from his world by something greater than himself, and has journeyed to the world of Azzarath by way of Azazel, God King of the Azzarathean Pantheon. Perhaps she performed thusly through pity, charity, or a simple act of kindness with no strings attached. Regardless, he is deposited near a village upon a mountainous range within the world. There, he meets up with his Human family, a grizzled old Templar, a shy Cleric, and an apathetic Mage, that came to take him away from his troubles, but he does not budge. That is, until one of his servants speaks of finding a new home. However, perhaps instead of finding a home, he finds adventure instead? The story within is a Frame Story, which means it is a story within another story. In that this one is being told by three personages, a God King called the Ageless, a Lich King called Brutus, and a Goddess named Sarah. Each of them speaks of the Ageless's past self, one called Karastak, as he journeys onwards throughout the worlds within the Azzarathean Pantheon in search of something more.
