Authors note:
I'm going to be trying doing shorter chapters but releasing 2-3 time per week. I work so we'll just have to see how this goes.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Today was the start of the new term at Medonia Academy. The sun was just starting to rise when Ren woke up. Ren got up, got dressed, and went to get breakfast. Over the past week Ren had spent time training some of his skills. Most of the time was spent training [Meditation] and [Fall Damage Reduction]. He managed to get [Meditation] up a level and [Fall Damage Reduction] up 2 levels. After eating, Ren collected his book and headed off to his first class, Mana Control.
Ren arrived at the Mana Control classroom. The classroom wasn't really like what Ren was expecting. It was a circular room with wide tiered stone benches that had large cushions placed on the benches. Stairs lead from the center of the room up to the top of the tiered seating. In the center of the room there was a painted statue of an old man sitting like he was meditating. There were already some students that had arrived and chosen seats. Ren Chose one that was about half way up and sat down. There was still a decent amount of time left before class started so Ren decided to do some light meditation, he found that he quite enjoyed it. More and more students trickled in as time went one until every seat was taken, now all they had to do was wait for the teacher.
They wait first for 5 minutes, then 10, than 20. By the 30 minute mark almost all of the students were getting restless. Finally one of the students got up and "screw this, I’m leaving" and started walking to the door. He had almost reached the door when a voice called out.
"I haven't dismissed you yet."
The student turned around and stared at what everyone thought was a statue slowly standing up. He wasn't the only one, most of the students were staring at him. The figure was, obviously, the teacher that everyone was waiting for. The teacher watched the student who was about to leave sheepishly make his way back to his seat. The Teacher gazed around the room at all of the students.
"Patience is the most important skill a mage can have. Even more so for a student." the teacher tells the class. "My name is Nix Tobis. All of you will address me as either Instructor or Instructor Tobis."

Instructor Tobis looked around the room, his eyes lingering slightly on Ren, who had come out of his meditation when instructor Tobis had first started speaking.
"For most of you," Tobis continued, "This will be the single most boring class you will ever take. There will be no Incantations, or spell casting. No lectures on magic history or theory. In this class I will attempt to teach you how to better control your mana. Even if you only develop a low degree of control, which is what will happen to most of you, it'll help you immensely. By being able to control mana you'll be able to control a spells damage, area of effect, duration, and much more. Legends say that masters of mana control can directly manipulate pure mana itself. I don’t know how true that is as there are no records of anyone being able to do that, but it's a nice goal to have."
Tobis walked back to his cushion in the center of the room and sat down.
"In class will primarily be composed of meditation in the beginning than practice controlling the mana in you bodies for those of you who reach that level. That is all we will be doing. In higher level mana control classes you would be learn how to influence you spells and the mana around you. We have about 20 minutes left. You can stay and try meditation now or leave and start tomorrow, I don't care which."
A lot of the students made their way to the door and left the room. Out of the 50 to 60 or so people that were in the room, only about a dozen decided to stay, including Ren who was is no hurry to get to his next class as they had a 30 minute break in between classes.
"For those of you who stayed, I’ll be guiding you though a short meditation session, for those who need it anyway." Instructor Tobis said after everyone who wanted to leave left. "You can leave at any time, just try not to disturb anyone else. I will now begin."
Ren listened for a little bit but decided it wasn't going to help him any and started to meditate on his own. After some time the teacher called out "That's enough for today. Make sure you’re not late for your next class." Ren got up and left. His next class was Ancient Languages and Runes and the class room was very far away.

Ren walked into his next class. No one else had arrived yet but that wasn't surprising, not many people would rush off to their next class. The Ancient Languages and Runes classrooms was a lot smaller than the last one. Instead of holding 50-60 people this could probably only hold a little over a dozen. It was circular as well but it had a long bookcase the circled the room. In the middle of the room there were ordinary tables like the kind you would find in the library. Ren picked a seat and sat down. As the class got closer to starting a few people trickled in until there were a total of eight students, including Ren, in the room. The teacher walked in a few minutes later. Surprisingly Ren knew this women. It was the same one that conducted his magic exam.
"Good morning everyone and welcome to Ancient Languages and Runes." She said, "You may address me as Madame Nizel, Instructor Nizel, or Deputy Headmistress. In this class you will be learning about the languages and runes used by past civilizations and extinct races. Because there are so many we will not be covering all of them or anywhere close to all of them. We will be covering the language of the Touwa, a race similar to goblins but smarter and less nasty, in class and you are expected to pick an additional one that you are interested in for self-study."
The teacher gave an introductory lecture about languages for the rest of the class period. As they were leaving Madame Nizel told them that they needed to decide on a language by the end of the week. Ren's last class before lunch was conjuration.
Ren walked into the conjuration classroom and was surprised to find it set up like a mini arena. In the center of the arena was a rather well build man watching all of the students file in. The man spoke as soon as the last student sat.
"This class is the basics of conjuration. If you are in the wrong class leave now." the man said. When nobody left the man continued. "You will address me as Master Boruk. None of you have earned the right to call me anything else. In this class you will be taught how to conjure weak spirits and magical beasts. Don't even try to conjure anything else. At best you'd fail. At worst what you conjure could consume you or some else that was unfortunate be too close. Regardless of the outcome, even if you somehow succeed in bringing forth something more powerful, you will be expelled from this school and possibly face criminal charges, depending on the result. Conjuring something is not a game. Failing could very well mean you death. If you do not want to, or think you’re not ready to, face this risk leave now."
About a quarter of the class stood up and left, though that still left a good amount of people staying. After they all exited the teacher continued.
"For the first have of the term I will be covering the basics and the theory of summoning as well as the differences of summoning and conjuring. You will not be doing either until the second half of the term. Understood?"
"""Yes Master Boruk""" the entire class said.
"Good. Now when you summon or conjure something you are opening a bridge between our plane of existence and another. Planer studies is a higher level class you won't be taking for a while but i will cover the basics because it's important for you to know where your summons come from. All of the planes exist together on the Great Cosmic Wheel. The plane we reside in is known as the Martial Plane, the Mortal Plane, or the Earthly Plane. Other planes include the seven elemental planes, the Heavenly Plane, and the Demonic Plane. Of course there are many others and we won't be dealing with the ones I just mentioned. We'll be dealing with the Spirit Plane and the Magical Beast Plane, though not for a while yet. Now, the components of a successful summoning..."
Master Boruk Lectured the entire time about various things like he was giving us an overview of the course. After the class was over I met Powel, Lixiss, and Azriel for lunch before heading off to my last class of the day. Blacksmithing.

Data Dragon Danika
After a great deal of preparation, Danika begins her new digital dragon's life in a very small way. They say the "Living Jade Empire" creates individualized quests. They say it can read your mind. They say you can find your heart's desire. They say that there's never been a game like it, and they're right but… they're also wrong. The game is a data mine, built to retell the old tales that humans have been telling each other since language was invented. It doesn't read your mind, but it reads your search history, your favorites, and your blogs. The "Living Jade Empire" is literally crafted from fables, legends, fantasies, and maybe just a bit of stardust. But in the end, will the game be able to figure out what Danika wants most? Will the desires of other players take priority? Or, will playing it change her, until she desires what it can give her? A journey is always made up of many small steps, and this game has still only just begun.
